Austria has approved a “ban on headscarves for girls in primary schools” which is specifically aimed at banning the oppressive hijab.
Austrian leader Sebastian Kurz said last year: “Covering up small children is definitely not something for which there should be space in our country.”
The patka head covering worn by Sikh boys and the Jewish kippa will not be affected by the ban, since it is aimed specifically at coverings of “all of the hair or large parts of it.” Exceptions also include “medical bandages and protection from rain or snow.”
This latest primary school ban is deemed to be “an extension of current rules outlawing burkas and full-face coverings”, which poses a clear security threat in addition to the subjugation of women.
FPÖ education spokesman, Wendelin Mölzer, said the latest law represents “a signal against political Islam” while the ÖVP MP Rudolf Taschner said the measure was necessary to free girls from subjugation.”
Opposition to the ban advanced flawed reasoning…
Irmgard Griss, of the liberal Neos party, said the ban threatened to do more harm than good by making girls at Austrian schools responsible for the repressive policies of authoritarian regimes in Iran or Saudi Arabia.
The ban is not to punish the girls for the oppression of women in Saudi Arabia and Iran, or to hold them responsible; but serves to send the message that the girls are equals to males under the Austrian constitution.
The ban is a rejection of sharia tenets which deem females to be inferiors. The Quran demands female coverings (Quran 24:31, 33:59). The sharia is discriminatory, supremacist, intolerant and has no place in Western societies, least of all in schools.
“Austria approves headscarf ban in primary schools”, by Philip Oltermann, The Guardian, May 16, 2019:
Austrian MPs have approved a law aimed at banning the headscarf in primary schools, a measure proposed by the ruling rightwing government.
The text refers to any “ideologically or religiously influenced clothing which is associated with the covering of the head”.
Representatives of both parts of the governing coalition, the centre-right People’s party (ÖVP) and the far-right Freedom party (FPÖ), have made it clear that despite its wide description, the law is targeted at the Islamic headscarf.
The FPÖ education spokesman, Wendelin Mölzer, said the law was “a signal against political Islam” while the ÖVP MP Rudolf Taschner said the measure was necessary to free girls from subjugation.
The government said the patka head covering worn by Sikh boys and the Jewish kippa would not be affected. Medical bandages and protection from rain or snow are also not covered by the law approved on Wednesday.
Austria’s official Muslim community organisation, IGGÖ, has condemned the proposals as “shameless” and a “direct assault on the religious freedom of Austrian Muslims”. The organisation has signalled that it will seek to challenge the validity of the law at Austria’s constitutional court.
The government has already said it expects the law to face legal challenges, since similar legislation affecting schools is normally passed with a two-thirds majority. In this instance almost all opposition MPs voted against the measure, with some accusing the government of focusing on garnering positive headlines rather than child welfare.
Irmgard Griss, of the liberal Neos party, said the ban threatened to do more harm than good by making girls at Austrian schools responsible for the repressive policies of authoritarian regimes in Iran or Saudi Arabia. There was no evidence, Griess said, that girls found it more difficult to learn when wearing a headscarf.
The ÖVP and FPÖ formed a coalition in late 2017 after elections in which both parties took a tough anti-immigration stance and warned of the dangers of “parallel societies”. The Austrian chancellor, Sebastian Kurz, said in April 2018: “Covering up small children is definitely not something for which there should be space in our country.”

‘Austria’s official Muslim community organisation, IGGÖ, has condemned the proposals as “shameless” and a “direct assault on the religious freedom of Austrian Muslims”.’
Seems to me to be the opposite, given the Muslim community forced scarves on the girls in the first place.

Religious freedom… The Muslims love to take this as an excuse for everything they do. I always wonder if anyone would have a problem with a new-founded religion that pretends to be a religion of peace and freedom and – at the same time – celebrates the punishment of people with freckles or twins or whatever kind of group. Would the lefties take sides with this kind of religion as well? Or is it just the kuffar, women and gay they do not bother for?

John, I understand your concern for freedom. It might not be a problem at all if the religion didn’t have the goal of establishing the Sharia’ world wide by any means necessary. Frankly, its as much or more an aggressive, oppressive political system, than a religion as the rest of the world considers religion.
My own concern here is the placing of the young girls in the middle, not sold on that.
My other great concern for all the world could be summed up in Hillaire Belloc’s comment from his book on heresies in 1938 speaking of Islam….”It is as a fact, the most formidable and persistent enemy which our civilization has had, and may at any moment become as large a menace in the future as it has been in the past…”
Oulu Finland, has had it’s first (completely publicized thankfully) Rape Grooming Gang crime with multiple migrant perps (muslim names) and multiple victims (white Finnish underage teens). Rocked the country. One 10 year old victim was “raped for months.”
Another committed suicide after her assault…imagine….the horrors these kids went through.
Here’s the link to the wiki article on it:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oulu_child_sexual_exploitation_scandal
Wake up John, we can’t be fooled and let our freedoms be our demise. We need to be able to recognize danger when we see it and protect ourselves and our loved ones. This crime is happening in many countries in Europe, most well documented in UK, almost 30 years worth of it, ignored, ignored, suppressed by authorities…for political correctness, or some other unknown reason.
That is as Anne Marie Waters said, “The Rape of Britain’s Daughters.” Labour MP Sarah Champion estimated the victim count could be close to a Million underage teen girls, no typo there.
Spread the word as gently as possible, most people can’t handle this, it’s so unfathomable in our safe and secure society. No sense troubling those who will be terribly upset. We need to get this mainstream. when the whole country is talking about it, our leaders will take legal actions necessary.

Getting rid of the head scarfs is great, but Austria will have to be very careful and maybe ban all religious head coverings for everyone.
The problem will be that this could cause a discrimination case if it’s not “one in all in”.
Does the ban include the “habits” worn by Catholic nuns? if it doesn’t then one of these turds will use that to set a precedence.

Austria does not appear to be circumspect on this matter. This is an actual denunciation of Islam coming from white people in Europe. All laws and regulations that reject the passive acceptance of Shariah are beneficial for everybody and Austria is now on record as saying “NO!” or maybe “no” to one clause in Shariah’s compendium of no’s and not’s. Either way it’s a step in the right direction. What makes it more important is that the emphasis is on the intrinsic value of freedom instead of on the feelings of whiny, violent liars who think decapitation by knife is sometimes OK.
Mario Alexis Portella says
Good! I just don’t know why America can’t do the same. Islam is not a peaceful religion…not even a religion but an oppressive system.
Terry Gain says
Yes. Islam is neither a religion, nor a peaceful ideology.
Savvy Kafir says
Islam definitely IS a religion, among other things. If an ideology includes a mythology regarding God and a prophet, promises paradise in an afterlife for its followers, and threatens an afterlife in hell for non-believers — that is a religion.
But Islam is ALSO a political system & legal system, and an ideology that promotes violence, imperialism, & hatred of non-Muslims. And for that reason, the laws protecting freedom of religion in the West should NOT apply to Islam.
It doesn’t do our cause any good to claim that Islam is not a religion, because the public at large will not buy it. We just need to point out that it is also much more than a religion. Islam is a complete system for living. It covers everything — and poisons everything it touches.

What a stupid idiotic statement! Griess is obviously an apologist for Islam, or an ignorant do-gooder leftist who understands nothing about this pernicious, intolerant creed. This issue has nothing to do with affecting a students ability to learn. IT’S THE OPPRESSIVE MISOGYNISTIC IDEOLOGY, STUPID!
The hijab is not a symbol of religious freedom, but RELIGIOUS COMPULSION AND OPPRESSION. It is the first step toward segregating women from men in Muslim societies.
However, the Austrians have left a loophole in their law by allowing the patka head covering worn by Sikh boys and the Jewish kippa. Those head coverings are also religiously inspired and create divisions in society. If they are going to ban head covering for one group, they should ban them for all, with no exceptions. If they want to oppose Islam, then don’t beat about the bush. Simply declare it a threat to national security. Islam is a political and religious ideology which seeks to subjugate all other religions and cultures, and has no place in a civilized society.
Terry Gain says
I disagree. Unlike Islam, Sikhism and Judaism are not enemy ideologies.
Wellington says
Seconded. Sikhs and Jews are not a mortal threat to liberty, neither are other religious groups like the Amish who also seek certain exceptions to overall rules and regulations.
But Muslims are. Thus, Muslims invite being singled out. 35,000+ documented Islamic terrorist attacks worldwide just since 9/11 helps sustain my point and yours. In fact, Muslims can only benefit when non-Muslims make the mistake of asserting that no religious exceptions, sartorial or otherwise, should exist. All this does is provide Islam with some cover which is always a bad idea.
Giacomo Latta says
True, but where I live I have to wear a helmet while riding a motorcycle whereas a Sikh does not. I pay a fine and they do not, so what’s so special about a Sikh head that they do not need to wear a helmet?
Wellington says
Giacomo Latta: With you completely. If a safety matter exists, such as wearing a helmet while riding a motorcycle, then NO exceptions.

Religious freedom is important and an acquired right. But please keep it behind closed doors. (ANY religion). By exposing your religion you upset many people. It is sad we need a law for this.

The demand that no one be allowed to publicly evidence their religion is very much like the Islamic Pact of Omar for dhimmitude.

Good for Austria.
And I would also note that females even at a very young age, even before they understand sexuality fully, are subjected to a sartorial requirement, per Mo’s warped creed, which helps to inculcate in the female that the onus for any sexual desire for the female by the male is placed entirely upon the female.
Sick stuff. Very Islamic though. And also why ALL, and I want to emphasize “ALL,” non-Muslim females who participate in any kind of “wear an hijab day to show affinity with your Muslim sisters” garbage are fools aplenty only furthering the reduction of the female to the male in “Islamthink.” Shame, deep and profound shame, on all such non-female Muslims; the sin here is upon their head, for a long time if not forever.
Wellington says
A colossal mistake on my part, but I think an amusing one nonetheless, to wit, not “…all such non-female Muslims…” but rather “…all such female non-Muslims…” Still amused by this error, huge though it was.

One can argue this or that about what religion does or does not do this or that, but the fact is, these people – whether Christian, Jew or Muslim – are in Austria and Austria has the legal right to make whatever laws they want to make for their citizens, residents and tourists. Such rules should be for the benefit of Austrian citizens, not simply aliens using Austria for their own aims. If they do not like it, they can go somewhere else – like back where they came from. As Fr. Frederick Shell once said to a lady complaining about his Mass: “If you don’t like it, get out!”

Hijab, per Qur’an, is NOT about the inferiority of Muslim women.
On the contrary.
It is about their supremacy over “unbelieving and slave women”.
Right up front: Islamic law applies to Muslims, their dhimmis, their slaves, and those who travel through areas of the world where ISLAMIC LAW is THE law of the land.
And only there!

O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. (By MUSLIM MEN

And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests and not expose their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands’ fathers, their sons, their husbands’ sons, their brothers, their brothers’ sons, their sisters’ sons, their women, that which their right hands possess [That’s their slaves], or those male attendants having no physical desire, or children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women. And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment.

The discussion of banning the headscarfs is also in full swing in Germany based upon the Austrian decision. Merkel’s possible replacement, Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, says they need to take the piublic serious about the issue and discuss the matter. Of course there are some in her party who say a ban will not hold up in the court because it is against the constitution granting religious freedom. I wonder what forcing the girls to wear a headscarf has to do wit religious freedom. For me it has to do with forcing my “religion” upon the people of the guest country as can be seen by the Islamic Council already screaming discrimination and calling it an unnecessary discussion. Matter of factly is this a very necessary discussion. But the truth is that there are the European Parliament elections on 26 May and they will do anything to make idiots believe that there will be a change in politics in order to gain enough votes to keep the majority in the Parliament. There are enough braindead people in the European countries who still believe in what politicians tell them. After the election things will stay the same and they’ll be back at the feet of the Islamists.
