A humiliating commentary on the leadership of Theresa May who quit on Friday, right before elections over her failure in handling Brexit; while the Labour Party isn’t far behind….
Media reports that the Tories suffered their worst election result in two centuries, dropping to just nine per cent of the vote and winning only four seats — losing 15 — while the Labour Party is said to have had its worst election result in 100 years, halving its presence in the European Parliament from 20 to just ten seats.
The UK public was ready for big change and declared it at the ballot box. Nigel Farage, leader of the Brexit Party tweeted out:
Never before in British politics has a party just 6 weeks old won a national election….If Britain does not leave the EU on October 31st, these results will be repeated at a general election.
Critics accuse Farage of stoking anger over issues like immigration. To be more specific, it was public worry about Islamization that rose Farage to fame. In 2015, Nigel Farage warned….
there is rising public concern about immigration partly because people believe there are some Muslims who want to form ‘a fifth column and kill us’, and that there has never before been a migrant group that wants to ‘change who we are and what we are’.
But then something happened, Farage had a change of heart. Robert Spencer expressed that Nigel Farage had become just another establishment politician…..
[Nigel Farage] reveals his abject ignorance of Islam and the jihad threat. Note Farage’s absurd moral equivalence in claiming that the Old Testament is incompatible with Western values in the same way that the Qur’an is. The difference is that the Old Testament has been part of Western culture since there has been a Western culture. Interpretative traditions are mainstream in Judaism and Christianity that mitigate its violent passages and other aspects that are not in accord with modern understandings of human rights. There is no such tradition in Islam. Farage insists that the vast majority of Muslims are assimilating and accepting Western values; he doesn’t have, however, any coherent idea of how to deal with those who aren’t. Farage makes the familiar conflation of Islam and Muslims, arguing that if one finds any problem with Islamic texts and teachings, one is condemning all Muslims. There is no reason why that should be so, and if he would foreclose upon any discussion of the motivating ideology behind jihad terror and Sharia oppression, how can he confront them?
Farage insists that we must not think that we are at war with the entire religion. But what, Mr. Farage, are we to think about the Muslims who consider themselves and their religion to be at war with us?
Farage has now “demanded a seat at Brexit negotiations… warning that he would turn British politics upside down if denied.”
“Farage Declares ‘This Is Just the Beginning’ After Brexit Party Victory in EU Elections”, by Victoria Friedman, Breitbart, May 27, 2019:
Nigel Farage has led the Brexit Party to victory while the establishment parties are left assessing the damage after their historic losses, with the Brexiteer declaring: “This is just the beginning.”
With almost all regions counted, the Brexit Party is in the clear lead after winning around one-third of the vote and projected to have gained 29 seats. In a distant second, the pro-Remain Liberal Democrats won 15 seats, while the new Change UK (CUK), established solely to stop Brexit, failed to gain a single seat.
“Never before in British politics has a party just 6 weeks old won a national election,” Mr Farage posted to Twitter Monday morning. “If Britain does not leave the EU on October 31st, these results will be repeated at a general election.
“History has been made. This is just the beginning.”
Media reports that the Tories suffered their worst election result in two centuries, dropping to just nine per cent of the vote and winning only four seats — losing 15 — while the Labour Party is said to have had its worst election result in 100 years, halving its presence in the European Parliament from 20 to just ten seats.
Speaking to Good Morning Britain on Monday morning, Mr Farage warned that the establishment political parties will suffer in the next General Election, scheduled for 2021, if they fail to take the UK out of the EU by October 31st, saying: “That date will become a bigger factor in peoples’ minds as these five months go by. If we don’t leave on the 31st of October, then the Brexit Party will go on to a General Election and stun everybody there, too.”
The Brexit Party leader later told the BBC that his party would be ready for even an October snap General Election, saying that it “might not be easy, but that work starts this afternoon.”
Recent polling of Westminster voting intentions point to the Brexit Party being ahead of the Conservative Party and just two points away from taking the lead over Labour…..

2 weeks, I believe. She will step down right after Trump’s visit June 10.
WPM says
Trump should have an interesting visit ,I am sure he will be smiling ear to ear as he meets soon to be ex MP May meets with him. I hope he plans to visit members of the future of England Brexit members as he visits the bygone old SJW of the Tory and labor party! Mr. Farage is far from perfect ,but time will tell after his party gets in power how he address what that cannot be named problems (Islam, Sharia,Jihad).
Michael Copeland says
These were EU Parliament elections, not UK national.
WPM says
Does that mean Trump is “ban ” from meeting anyone in the Brexit party? Or that it would be in poor taste to meet with them? Do you think Trump considers being low key his strong point , or being unconfrontational ? Do you think Trump facing his own election in 2020 gives a rats ass if he pisses off the “current” ruling party in England if it could advance his chances in 2020 back homer?
Jayell says
Apparently, the flags will be out for President Trump at Buckingham Palace. There can be no point in him wasting any time with Mrs. May especially after the way she tried to publicly humiliate him in a BBC interview a few months back. Same goes for The Obnoxious Khan of London Town, who looks like being taken out at the next election, after the way the Labour Party was almost knocked off its perch in the EU election. Time for more than a few chickens to come home to roost, methinks.
R Russell says
Farage side steps Islam – typical politician looking for votes. UKIP is also well aware of the Islam problem, but remember, Farage, whom the UK MSM has ignored for a long time, very quickly became the MSM ‘darling’ as UKIP was ignored.
As far as I know, Farage is a dictator in a political party with only him with any power. Unless he becomes more democratic, then I cannot see people like Anne Widdecombe and Annunziata Rice Mogg being there for long.
Meanwhile UKIP, a party with democratic values and a manifesto has all but been destroyed.
WPM says
I hope Canada flushes “the Turd” soon ! When is their election this fall?
Older Canadian says
Election October 2019. Currently polls indicates it will be a win for conservative Andrew Scheer, a very good man leading a very good party with a commonsense party-line.
Giacomo Latta says
Unfortunately Mr. Scheer likes to play Mr. Dressup like Trudeau, sporting a Sikh turban when seeking political support at the ”community” level.
Michael Copeland says
Nigel Farge is remarkable. His victory in the EU Parliament election is well-deserved, and signals how disaffected the British voters are with the main two parties. May he go from strength to strength.
A learning curve awaits him, though, for Islam.
What “we absolutely must do”, insists Mr. Farage, is to “get the vast majority of muslims on our side against the bad guys.”
There is no mileage in that.

Westman says
Let’s hope the man who would be PM if the UK elections were today – learns that the Muslim zealot wants to chop off the unbeliever’s head while the “moderate” Muslim is happy to watch. How many “quiet” celebrations took place on 9/11 in addition to the active celebrations seen on TV in Muslim nations and territories?
Dawne Swift says
We all know this is true. And Nigel Farage is too intelligent a man not to know this also. He took a calculated stance against the speaking out directly against Islam as opposed to against terrorism, because he has seen that is not the best way for us to get real change. Anybody in the UK who speaks publicly against Islam is branded “far right” and “islamophobic”. We have to hesitate here before we speak with people we don’t know well, and watch very carefully what we say.
If Farage had spoken out against Islam, he would have ended up as UKIP have – thrown on the scrapheap of British politics because the MSM and establishment have branded them islamophobic and extreme for e.g. talking out against muslim paedophile rape gangs in the UK. A LOT of people support what Tommy Robinson says here; you wouldn’t be able to express support for him in public. There is still very much an atmosphere of repression of free speech.
We’ll have to accept taking things slower. A first step will be getting out of the EU and Nigel’s victory has made real progress on this front more likely.
PRCS says
Thank you for that essay, Michael.
“Robert Spencer asks: Farage insists that we must not think that we are at war with the entire religion. But what, Mr. Farage, are we to think about the Muslims who consider themselves and their religion to be at war with us?”
Of course, we don’t think of religious ‘fanatics’ as our enemies. But that thinking is flawed–as THEY believe they are at war with us.
Lilith Wept says
And it’s what MOSLEMS believe that’s important, it’s way moslem believe about their religion, not what the Moslem apologists try and cram down our throats…..not the sugar coated, warm and fuzzy feeling version of Islam that apologists try and convince us is the REAL Islam.
Sean says
Voter turnout was only 36 per cent.
Let’s see how Mr Brexit does at a General Election.
WPM says
What is the normal turn out in England? I do not know if 36 percent is normal turn out in England ,I know in many local state and local city elections in America the democratic have a real loyal following even many of the dead democrats seem to make there voicers “heard beyond the grave” .
Sean says
WPM
The turnout for the general election in 2017 was 68 per cent.
In terms of the popular vote 17.4 million people voted to leave the EU so one would assume they would also be motivated to vote for the Brexit Party (or UKIP) last Thursday in the EU elections.
Just over five million people voted for Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party?
WPM says
The turn out for the” tradition parties” I take it was very low for this current election? I know local elections in city, state and other local elections are usually low turn out in America .It still stands a new party that is only two weeks old in this article did fairly well. General with low voting turnout and voter apathy the status quote remains in power. This was not the case in this election, point in face the American “teaparty ” was a complete failure
Dawne Swift says
I know a lot of people who’d voted for Brexit, and still support Brexit who were so disillusioned with the whole thing that they said they weren’t going to vote in the EU elections. Whether they’ll vote in a general election, who knows? The problem for the Brexit Party in a general election is going to be that our Labour party is now openly Marxist – part of the reason it’s lost a good number of voters. And Conservatives who voted BP may decide to go back to the Conservatives in a general election to avoid Labour getting any form of power, even in a coalition (which looking at this election would seem the most likely). I’ll still vote Brexit Party, but have to say that I’m working on getting any liquid assets out of the UK while I still can.

It is the UK and not just England

A party formed just 6 weeks before an election trounces the 2 long established parties and serves them their worst defeat for hundreds of years.
Just imagine if the Brexit Party had been formed 6 months ago just how much more damage it could have done to the established elites in UK politics.
The elites in the UK and EU were put on notice that there is a ground swell of dissent because of their policies of mass migration and globalism and if they don’t heed this warning shot across their collective bows they will pay a bloody price in national elections.
The tide has turned and the momentum is with the nationalist populist movements that demand a return to independent sovereign nations, with closed borders and controlled immigration.
Anything less will provoke violence. “Those who make peaceful revolution impossible, will make violent revolution inevitable.” John F. Kennedy.
Don McKellar says
Farage was CORRECT in saying that the Old Testament is not in line with Western values. Animal sacrifice, slavery, bigamy, death sentences to women who grab men’s private parts Deuteronomy 25:11-1 , sex slavery condoned Exodus 21: 7-8 , “Slaves, be subject to your masters with all reverence, not only to those who are good and equitable but also to those who are perverse.” (1 Peter 2:18) and on and on and on…
However it is also correct that Christianity and Judaism evolved and such things are looked at in proper context. There is no context in Islam. Which is why it is so evil in our modern world.
overman says
Yes Don, there’s no evolution in islam. That’s why muslims will always be stuck in the 7th century.
Alarmed Pig Farmer says
There is no context in Islam.
Don, I think here you’re being unkind to our hairy neighbors. Islam has context: perpetual expansion by mass murder or the widespread threat of it. That’s context. 1,400 yrs ago the Holy Prophet Mohammed set loose a perpetual motion machine that ain’t stopped since, and shows no signs of doing so.
overman says
lt means little that farage’s party has made progress in europe. His islamic position is still in question. l don’t see any change there. lf he thinks the so-called moderate muslim will rise up against the so-called radical muslim, he’s still very much living in cloud-cuckoo land. You can count on one hand the number of muslims who will stand against their brothers in jihad. Farage knows nothing about the many forms of jihad and that will be his downfall.
javid sajid has now entered the race for the the PM of Britain, which l’ve been expecting since T.May made him home secretary. He’s been playing his cards well and gaining favour with the british public with his anti-islam stance – it’s taqiyya at the highest level and many of the tory elite have been duped. There definitely seems to be an agenda to get this trojan horse into the seat of power (his rise in the ranks in such a short time is nothing short of meteoric). Britain will then become part of the incoming caliphate. God help us..
gravenimage says
Yes–Farage *has* disturbingly waffled on the threat of Islam lately. His Brexit Party was still a *much* better choice than the Conservatives or even worse Labour, though.
Tom says
I agree that he has softened his stance on Islam. obviously not wanting to alienate the “soft” politically centre voters.
You are right that his Brexit Party is by far a better choice for many than the dysfunctional Conservative or Labour parties in the UK.
James Lincoln says
Nigel Farage is a pragmatist and believes that the UK is past the tipping point in regards to Islam – and that the demographics preclude antagonizing the Muslim voters – who always vote as a block.
I follow UK politics closely and I believe that Nigel is HOPING that he is right regarding:
–The UK winning over and successfully integrating the so-called moderate Muslims.
–A Reformation of Islam by the moderate Muslims regarding a moderate interpretation of the Koran.
–A successful fight against the radical Muslims with the moderate Muslims on the side of the UK government.
–A reawakening of the Judeo-Christian culture in the UK.
–Stoping practices condoned by Sharia law that go against UK law.
If he is WRONG, and the UK continues along its present course, it is doomed and will be well on its way to becoming an Islamic republic.
gravenimage says
He is mistaken if he thinks Islam can be successfully integrated into civilized Britain.
James Lincoln says
Yes, gravenimage, I believe that you are – unfortunately – correct…
There is NO past or present evidence that “Islam can be successfully integrated into civilized Britain.”
Jayell says
“Farage insists that the vast majority of Muslims are assimilating and accepting Western values……”
Oh no, they’re not. Nigel’s either a cock-eyed optimist or he needs to open is eyes a bit more. In my neck of the woods, around the streets and in the local supermarket, there are more and more of the females in the black bin bags with their faces covered and the sight of the men in their pyjamas is becoming distinctly for frequent. It’s obvious that, in areas of high contamination, they’re more and more convinced that they own the place.
gravenimage says
Farage actually used to be smarter about the threat of Islam. I am not sure why he has backpedaled.
UNCLE VLADDI says
Giving up hostility to islam was a requirement for his initiation into the globalist illuminati.

Nigel Farage lives in a dangerous dreamworld.
Brilliant to see that Marine le Pen is making such progress in the battle againt the EU.
Very great pity that Nigel Farage will have nothing to do with any EU groups opposed to Islam.
Farage is living under the dillusion that Islam and Muslims can be integrated in to British Society,
this dispite everything written in the Koran to the contrary.
The aim of Islam is to establish a Global Caliphate.
Islam is about invading, conquering and enslaving any non-muslim countries.
LindaRivera wrote this very pertinant post about Nigel Farage | Tuesday, Nov. 17th, 2015 | View on Spectator Blogs
Nigel Farage must stop betraying our people by trying to deceive non-Muslims that the hearts and minds of Muslims can be changed. A Huge Lie. We are in terrible danger.

I always suspected that Theresa May was trying to sabotage Brexit without appearing to do so. It was time for her to leave. Once Farage is PM he can then openly admit the Islamist threat. I may not agree with it, but he is being pc in order to win an election. I do believe that he means well and will be an improvement over May.
