In Christianity,God’s only begotten Son is Jesus. Allah has no begotten son.God made salvation available by sacrificing His Son and promises salvation by grace to those who believe. Allah sacrificed nothing, and only saves if sufficient works are done.God has a payment for sins—Jesus Christ. Allah has no payment for sins.God’s Christ paid for the sins of mankind. Allah paid for nothing, and all men pay for their own sins.God’s salvation is through Christ’s work. Allah’s salvation is through people’s works.God’s saving work is, “Come to Christ.” The major part of Moslem salvation is to believe Mohammed was the sum and seal of the prophets.
God’s book is very different from Allah’s book. They contradict each other, so they cannot both be true. For example, the Bible says Christ was resurrected from the dead. The Moslems reject that as a lie.God says his Son is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Allah says Christ is “only a messenger.”God treats men and women equally. Allah does not.God says marriages today (Christian) are to be monogamous. Allah allows more than one wife. There is no marriage in God’s Paradise. Faithful men get many virgins in Allah’s paradise..“Men are the managers of the affairs of women” and “Righteous women are therefore obedient.”
“Many public schools have become a hotbed of Islamic propaganda,” Thompson [President of the Thomas More Law Center] continued.“Teaching Islam in schools has gone far beyond a basic history lesson. Prompted by zealous Islamic activism and emboldened by confusing court decisions, schools are now bending over backward to promote Islam while at the same time denigrate [sic] Christianity.”“We are asking the Supreme Court to provide the necessary legal guidance to resolve the insidious discrimination against Christians in our public schools,” he concluded.
There may be a way to teach American students about Islam. But if the reality of Islam is to be accurately conveyed, it is hard to see what, beyond the Five Pillars, can be truthfully taught. without considerable trouble. In today’s supercharged political atmosphere, CAIR and other Muslims will be watching to see if there is anything they deem untoward — that is, negative — being taught about Islam. They will try to insist that teachers offer the sanitized version of Islam that CAIR has been so adept at spreading. They will be quick to cry “Islamophobia” and “racism” if there is any deviation from the version of Islam they wish to have presented. And even if there are suits by the Thomas More Law Center that ultimately prevail, the time and expense spent on fighting CAIR over this or that program on Islam may make many schools not eager to teach about Islam at all. And if Islam is not to be taught, then other religions cannot be either, lest the schools run afoul of the Establishment Clause. Perhaps, since there seems little prospect of being allowed to teach the truth about Islam in our schools, it would be best to leave the subject out of the curriculum altogether. The study of comparative religion can be taken up at a later date, at the university level. It is harder for the CAIRS of this world to intimidate those college professors whose work focuses on Islam (but are neither Muslims nor cheerleaders for the faith), and who are more likely to stand their ground, than it is for them to frighten public high school teachers and administrators, who likely do not know enough about Islam to defend themselves from those devastating charges of “Islamophobia” and “racism.”

The only thing worse than saying the “shithada” would be taking the Mark of the Beast. Rather than teaching students the penalties for disobeying “allah”, perhaps they should teach the penalties for disobeying the Judeo-Christian God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and introduce them to John 3:16, the astounding prophecy revealed in the “Akedah”, and the fact that there is more evidence of Jesus’s Death and Resurection than there is mohammad ever lived.

Allah and Jehovah have entirely different personalities. Moreover, Allah has ‘forgotten’ most of the Old Testament and New Testament and whenever they are quoted, he gets half the details wrong and laughably wrong. It is clear that Allah was a fraud. While Jehovah commanded Abraham and his descendants to dwell in Israel, ‘Allah’ commanded Arabs of the Koresh tribe to take over the entire world through military conquest and impose absurd Sharia law.
Islam should be exposed for the great fraud it is, rather than teaching vulnerable minds that it is a positive commendable way of life. Muslims HATE all kafir-disbelievers-non-Muslims. Thus, Islam creates DISHARMONY, SECTARARIAN HATRED and DIVISION in society and is NOT a positive influence for a free, democratic society.

Under sharia, if you say the Shahada you are now a Muslim and if you reject or leave Islam you are now an apostate and are to be killed.

Like all works-based religions, Islam’s Allah requires you to show what you can do for him/it. Only in Christianity does the Lord show you His love by doing for you – offering and giving salvation – what you cannot do.

Also, Christianity is a personal issue between you and God; Christ calls out the Pharisees for being more interested in being seen as charitable than in being charitable, for example. But Islam is a public matter, requiring very public expressions and an almost one-upmanship between worshippers, especially when it comes to reinforcing Islam’s “supremacy” over those of other faiths.

The main problem with Islam is not that it is works-based, but the nature of the works–like raping children and slaughtering Infidels–that are considered “good”.

Some years ago I read a piece by a Catholic scholar which I have not been able to find since. Here is my best effort at a summary:
Medieval theologians differentiated between “natural” religions such as Greek and Roman paganism, and the revealed religions of Judaism and Christianity. Pagan gods had whims and passions not subject to human influence. All man could do is try to propitiate them and hope for the best. Judaism and Christianity are covenantal religions. God and man meet via revelation and strike a bargain: God bestows His benefits if man is faithful to God and His commandments. Just as God’s will and purpose are transparent, so are the workings of the universe, if man only applies the power of reason. God does not violate natural law except in the rare case of a miracle.
Although Islam presents itself as the product of a revelation, there is a crucial difference in the relationship between man and Allah. There is no covenant between consenting parties. Allah has an arbitrary will which man must follow, and Allah himself is not bound by any rational laws comprehensible to man. All man can do is submit to Allah’ and not defy him by science or reason. For example, Allah could at any time will carbon to form three or five bonds instead of four. It would be blasphemous to ask of Allah, “shall not the judge of the earth do what is just?”
This Catholic scholar then focused on the relationship between man and God. The Jewish God loves mankind and acts as much like a father as a king. In Christianity the love goes even farther, via the incarnation and martyrdom of God’s son.
Islam presents 99 names for Allah, but “Father” is not among them. Although Islam is strictly monotheistic and rejects all personification of Allah, the relationship between man and Allah resembles that of the ancient Greeks and Romans towards Zeus and Jupiter. There is one phrase in the scholar’s article I remember clearly: “Islam is an idolatry of the God of Abraham.”

Official RCC teaching is that Catholics and Muslims worship the same “merciful” god. #841 in the Catechism if my memory serves me correct.
Michael Poulin says
That Catechism is defective in that it leans entirely too heavily on the Vatican II Council, from whence the “same” God” phrase comes from, an attempt to appease the more “friendly” Mohammadens…But earlier Catholic teaching was more exact and correct and in accord with Scripture and centuries of Catholic teaching on the subject. They are not the “same” in any way..There are several “time bombs” in Vatican II documents which create much chaos and wreckage and confusion. The Vatican II Council was a “pastoral” council and the Pope at the time said it created no new doctrine. As a novelty therefore Catholics are free to ignore the “same God” junk theology…
pfwag says
You sound like a Catholic try to defend (one of) the churches asinine teachings with how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. So sorry (you’re still a Catholic) but the Pope approved of all the pronouncements from Vatican II making it official dogma. The RCC used to kill apostate Catholics too. And it wasn’t that long ago.
c matt says
By definition, a pastoral council which expressly professes it is not establishing any new dogma cannot itself therefore establish official “dogma.” Please familiarize yourself with the definitions before you start using them.
c matt says
From Paul VI General Audience of 12 January 1966:
In view of the pastoral nature of the Council, it avoided any extraordinary statements of dogmas endowed with the note of infallibility, but it still provided its teaching with the authority of the Ordinary Magisterium which must be accepted with docility according to the mind of the Council concerning the nature and aims of each document.
First, he expressly states the council avoided any statements of infallible dogma, and second, you have to take into account the “nature and aim” of each document (in this case, Nostra Aetete (NA) dealing with relations between the Church and other religions). NA was a public relations/political document basically trying to not piss Muslims off, and improve relations among Christians and Muslims in the middle east. It took Muslims at their word (professing to worship the one God), without any extensive critical analysis of that claim, and basically asked that we all just get along.
Carolyne says
When one looks at the world today, with floods and pestilence, with diseases and suffering, all of which could be stopped by a “God,’ it is difficult to see that either God or Allah is merciful.

I can understand you having that point of view.
I could explain the unimaginable effect the fall of man has had on the whole universe. That might explain the why, but it doesn’t do a lot for the suffering.
I have found Ravi Zacharias has many talks on suffering. Putting ‘Ravi Zacharias and suffering’ in the YouTube ‘search’ you will get a selection of his talks.
This is one of them.

After 9/11 I took a class on Islam at a local community college. The teacher was a attractive and pleasant Muslim woman. She told us that jihad was a spiritual quest and gave as an example that a Muslim might perform jihad by raising money for a community playground. She made jihad sound like a Boy Scout’s Explorer project.

To Muslims, that is true.
About which one should ask if the students were also told that “Jews and Christians do not believe that”?

Actually, Muslims don’t believe this either. They do not accept the Jesus of the Gospels or the God of the Torah and the Bible.

it would be best to leave the subject out of the curriculum altogether.
Agreed. Better not to touch the subject at all if you are not going to teach it accurately. Unfortunately, Islam as well as many other world religions are a significant part of world history, and you are missing a sizable chunk of what has happened in the world without it, but better to be ignorant than deliberately misinformed.

one way to know that islam is evil and false is to go to the bible and use God’s word
Galatians 1-6I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
According to Sunni tradition, during one such occasion while he was in contemplation, the angel Gabriel appeared before him in the year 610 AD and said, “Read”, upon which he replied, “I am unable to read”. Thereupon the angel caught hold of him and embraced him heavily. This happened two more times after which the angel commanded Muhammad to recite the following verses:[6][7][8][9][10][11][12]
