Persecuted Christian Asia Bibi arrives in Canada from Pakistan

May 8, 2019 10:43 am By Christine Douglass-Williams

It’s a moment every human rights advocate has awaited….

Asia Bibi, a Pakistani Christian woman who spent eight years on death row for blasphemy against Islam before she was freed last year, is now safely in Canada and reunited with her family, her lawyer has said.

Because of Muslim outrage, outbreaks of riots and death threats against Bibi, she remained incarcerated for her own safety upon the announcement of her release, amid many offers of asylum from countries.

Britain openly refused to offer Bibi asylum to appease the sector of its Muslim community who wanted to see Bibi further punished on bogus charges of blasphemy, a common plight of Christians living in Pakistan. The UK feared Muslims who would riot and endanger innocent lives if she entered its country. To read the list of troubling reports about Asia Bibi, click here. Her ordeal  sheds much light on the nature of  Sharia blasphemy laws, the zealousness of its adherents and appeasing Britain.

Although it is great news that Asia Bibi is now in Canada, there is an irony involved. Canada is a country that has implemented anti-Islamophobia Motion M-103 in its parliament, where a followup document was unveiled–along with 23-million-dollar financing and the participation of groups like CAIR-CAN (renamed National Council of Canadian Muslims) and IRFAN (Canada’s branch of Islamic Relief ).   The document,  titled Taking Action Against Systemic Racism and Religious Discrimination”, included “monitoring citizens for compliance“. Anti-Islamophobia Motion M-103 is an assault on Western free speech and amounts to a tacit implementation of Islamic blasphemy laws.

Motion M-103 accused Canadians of fostering “a climate of fear” toward Muslims, one which must be “quelled.” For more information about the highly questionable  Islamic supremacist influences behind M-103, click here. For an extended report about M-103, its dangers and why it was broadly opposed by many Canadian citizens, click here.

May Asia Bibi succeed in her long road again to full recovery from her ordeal in a country that is struggling to remain free.  With elections this year, the announcement of Asia Bibi’s arrival in Canada is beneficial for Trudeau, but his policies do not support the continuation of a free society, nor has Trudeau offered asylum to other persecuted Christians, save for Asia Bibi’s high profile case during this election year.

Another high profile (and welcome) case was the safe arrival to Canada of Saudi teen, Rahaf Mohammed al-Qunun, who fled her family after they threatened to kill her for leaving Islam..

“Persecuted Christian Asia Bibi Arrives in Canada After Leaving Pakistan”, by Simon Kent, Breitbart, May 8, 2019:

Asia Bibi, a Pakistani Christian woman who spent eight years on death row for blasphemy against Islam before she was freed last year, is now safely in Canada and reunited with her family, her lawyer has said.
“It is a big day,” Saiful Malook told the Guardian. “Asia Bibi has left Pakistan and reached Canada. She has reunited with her family. Justice has been dispensed.”

Pakistani TV channels Geo and ARY, citing unidentified sources, also reported Bibi had left the country.

Roman Catholic Bibi was acquitted of her religious crime last year but has since faced death threats in Pakistan and was offered asylum by multiple countries including Italy, the Netherlands, and Canada. The latter has finally provided her with safe haven.

The British government turned her away, allegedly to appease “certain sections of the community” at home and Islamist terrorists who might be inclined to attack British embassies abroad.

Blasphemy against Islam is a proscribed crime in multiple Pakistani statutes. Insulting Mohammed specifically is a crime carrying the death penalty in Pakistan. Bibi was originally sentenced to hang in 2010.

Islam is Pakistan’s national religion and underpins its legal system. Public support for the strict blasphemy laws is strong.

Bibi’s release last year followed a period of intense international pressure on Pakistan to respect its Christian minority.

In January, the United States Department of State placed the country on its Special Watch List for severe religious freedom violations, citing, among other infractions, Bibi’s imprisonment.

The Pentagon also cut military aid to the country that month arguing that the Pakistani government did not sufficiently curb its Islamist elements, while President Donald Trump announced cutting American taxpayers’ dollars going to aid the country for the same reason…..

This is a major relief. May Asia Bibi and her family, with all the support they can get, recover from their ordeal and finally rebuild their lives. All those who assisted in the family’s escape are owed thanks.

It ought to be a matter of international protocol that any woman who manages to escape Shari’a be entitled to automatic asylum anywhere she chooses, without her first having to go through what Asia Bibi has gone through. Every woman and every girl who makes it out of any Shari’a land should be welcomed into the free world and supported to rebuild their lives, including assisted passage and security. This is not a difficult thing to do, especially for Europe, which supposedly has a serious population decline problem. When will the first Western government declare such automatic asylum? Any woman escaping Shari’a is by definition a refugee. Let’s see how long Shari’a lasts after those Hellholes start haemorrhaging their females.

All girls from Sharia lands ?

What if they marry already arrived warriors [ aka refugees/migrants ] and produce nice little jihadi kids ?

Asylum should be for non-Muslims or those renouncing Islam only.

Unfortunately, many Muslim women are as committed to their vicious creed as are Muslim men.

          May 13, 2019 at 3:40 pm

GI, I very much doubt whether such women will make hijra without men. It should be fairly obvious whether a woman has suffered under Shari’a or was one of its enforcers.

      • Anjuli Pandavar says

        May 13, 2019 at 3:56 pm

Lookmann, perhaps you’re right. Perhaps asylum should not be automatic. But there should be a presumption of acceptance.

We ought not to forget that Muslim women are variously considered loot, slaves, children, animals, farmland, or prostitutes. Islam does not recognise the personhood of women, no matter what “Islamic feminists” will tell you. Muslim women are “the women of the believers”. They are not themselves “the believers”, even if they are sometimes referred to as “the believing women”. And as such they are only marginally better off than non-believers and often worse off. Please also see my comment to GI.

Anjuli is right about women being refugees in their own Sharia lands but there should be caution like Lookmann has suggested.Islam barely has any piety and hence Muslims remains highly unscrupulous ..

Congratulations to everyone who participated in finally bringing this woman to safety. It sends a message to the Sharia tyrants that to threaten an innocent person’s life over “blasphemy” will not be tolerated, nor will their victims be forgotten or abandoned. At least that’s what it should mean, because there are many more Asia Bibi’s trapped in the Islamic world.

I agree with Anjuli that persecution on the grounds of Sharia should be qualification for asylum. It should be stuck right in the faces of the M-103 enablers of persecution that defenders of freedom of thought will aid and defend the threatened, and they can stick their “Anti-Islamophobia” proclamations where the sun don’t shine.

Because of his crazy anti oil/pro radical Islam/Antisemite/socialist policies, his scandal ridden party and Marie Antoinette type governing, and the fact he’s just not that freaking bright and is concerned more about hair and flair than fiscal responsibility, this noodle brain is going down in flames at home, as the dumbest leader on the planet.

A good chunk of the planet’s leaders are some form of dictator, and of those who aren’t, most, especially Europe’s leaders, while they are in complete denial about the Muslim problem, you can’t actually say they’re STUPID. They accomplished SOMETHING in their private lives, and at least have grudging respect each other.

But to imply that Canada is *worse than Pakistan* is quite mistaken. Asia Bibi is definitely safer there than in Pakistan under sentence of death and then with roving mobs of Jihadists looking for her to murder her and her family.

In Pakistan Asia Bibi was under police protection, as her murder would have lead to very serious repercussions for Pakistan. In Canada, I doubt she is under protection of any sort. Maybe for a month or so, then its open season.

I can understand why the UK did not allow Asia in. Her murder would have led to serious civil disorder in Britain. Ditto for most Western nations except the USA with Pres Trump as president.

          ………………………….

DP111, I never got the impression that she was under police protection–unless this was in secret. All we ever heard was that she was in hiding, presumably sheltered by members of the also-threatened Christian community in Pakistan.

And Pakistan in not releasing Asia Bibi for travel seemed far more concerned about rioting Muslims than they did for her safety.

          More:

I doubt she is under protection of any sort. Maybe for a month or so, then its open season.
          ………………………….

Probably so–yet as bad as things are in Canada, there have not been thousands of Muslims rioting there and screaming for her blood as there has been in Pakistan:

“Pakistani government capitulates to rioters, bans Asia Bibi from leaving country, reviews her blasphemy acquittal”

          https://www.jihadwatch.org/2018/11/pakistani-government-capitulates-to-rioters-bans-asia-bibi-from-leaving-country-reviews-her-blasphemy-acquittal

Assuming that things are as bad–or worse–in the West as in Dar-al-Islam is, I believe, wrong-headed for a few reasons. Firstly, it is empirically incorrect. Even the most dhimmified part of the West is not nearly as horrific as is the Muslim world itself.

Then, if some have the idea that things can’t get any worse here because they are already worse than under full Muslim rule, they are apt to completely minimize that growing threat we still face.

They may even stop fighting all together–which would be disastrous.

Asia Bibi was kept in a max security prison, solitary, in Pakistan. Thats about the best protection she could have in that benighted country.

As for Canada, lets see. Accepted – the UK or any country in the West, is no where near as bad as a Muslim country. It is worth noting that the UK is where a serving soldier’s head was hacked off. in the the Netherlands, Tim Fortyun, a popular politician, was beheaded, and Wilders lives under armed protection. Too, a Muslim in Canada thought nothing of attacking the Canadian parliament. Asia Bibi is therefor at great risk in Western Europe and Canada.

She would be safer in Eastern Europe, where Muslims are a tiny minority, and very conscious that they are under watch and notice..

Canada’s small population of mostly liberals lay her vulnerable to Muslim takeover. I immigrated from Canada many years ago. Even then I could see the writing on the wall. If the French took over Canada they would change the landscape. It started with Trudel’s father, a bitter DeGaul worshiper. He allowed Quebec to strip out anything Engleish , written or spoken in the province. When business and banks fled the province they lightened up a little. Florida is filled every year with Canadians meeting doctors and paying for the elective surgeries they can’t have in Canada. Viva medicare for all ?.

I have visited a home in Istanbul which “Employs” two teenage girls. They are treated well but their inferior position is well known to them and the family for whom they work. They cannot read and write and each week their father arrives to collect their wages. When I was there they were upset because their father who lived in some village had taken a second wife. I tried to tell the family who “owned” them that they should be helped to become literate and better their place in life but they rejected it. It was some years ago and I told several people that someday there would be a bridge between Asia and Europe and if they were smart they would invest in property on the Asian side. They laughed at the idea of a bridge over the Bosphorus. Guess what? Today there is a beautiful bridge built by Germans. The Asian side is booming. I suppose the teenage servant custom is also still thriving.

A fool sat beneath an olive tree. A song from “Kismet” which perfectly describes Muslim’s habits.

Thanks for the info on a highly educated Jihadist. Left always claims it is poverty that incubates jihad. Jihad is part and parcel of Islam and Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and host of Islamic nations have Jihad as part of statecraft. The more the petro-dollar the more its reach.

Yup. The richer a mohammedan country or person, the *more* likely they are to engage in (or financially support) Jihad.

The mohammedan human bombs who mass-murderously blew themselves up in three churches and two crowded hotel dining-rooms in Colombo, Sri Lanka, were not from scrabble-street; they were filthy-rich (sons of a prosperous spice merchant, which BTW demonstrates that Muslims are NOT ‘oppressed’ or hard-done-by, within Sri Lanka) and well-eucated – two had gone to Uni in western countries (UK and Australia).

If their family paid for their education, the cost would have been substantial, and shows that their family was far from poor; if they were on ‘scholarships’ and studying at the expense of the UK or Aussie governments, then their attack on kuffar in Sri Lanka shows just exactly how grateful mohammedans are for kuffar charity.

Further: I *know* that at least one of the three churches mass-murderously attacked, the Zion Evangelical Church, was *full* of very, very poor people; so this particular jihad attack involved fat, rich, sleek, well-educated mohammedans viciously attacking and murdering **poor people**. A classic demonstration of the sadistic Bully Mind of Islam. (As, indeed, was the spectacle of enormous mobs of ferocious-looking mohammedan males in the streets of Pakistan – thousands and thousands of them – baying for the blood of Asia Bibi.. of one tiny little unarmed and powerless Christian woman.

I’m so glad and relieved that Asia Bibi is in Canada with her family. Thanks to Christine, Robert, and everyone at Jihadwatch who has brought attention to this important human rights case and to the plight of Christians and other non-Muslims living in Muslim-majority countries. I appreciate everyone who worked on her case, especially those who risked their lives, and those who lost their lives, in defending her, defending good against the forces of evil. The battle will continue.

The way Canada is going down the hill of free speech Asia Bibi might find herself in the same state as in Pakistan in 20 years from now, If she survives murder till then in Canada. For now Canada is heaven compared to Sharia imposing Pakistan which is evil to the core.

Seems strange…….Asylum Seekers fleeing Persecution from Muslims, their lands & their ideology seek sanctuary in western Countries, when these very Muslims sort of ‘migrate’ to Western countries & demand we conform to their dingbat ideology. Various personnel have fled to the West for sanctuary, only to be murdered by a Muslim.

I want to hold a candle to the French journalist ANNE ISABELLE TOLLET who worked wth Asia to highlight her plight in Pakistan by writing the book ‘BLASPHEMY’.
Inevitably Tollet was herself at risk for exposing the lies told by Asia’s co-workers that landed her (Asia) in solitary confinement in a filthy, very small, Pakistani prison cell for approximately 9 years.

Here’s to you Anne Tollet for your determination, against high odds, to stand by Asia Bibi in her time of darkness !
    Thank you !

I want to hold a candle to French journalist +Anne Isabelle Tollet+ who worked with Asia to highlight her plight – in a dark, dank, filthy, very confining prison cell, where she spent almost 9 years in solitary confinement for a so-called crime that she did not commit – by writing the book ‘Blasphemy’.

Thank you Anne Tollet for your courage in exposing this abysmal tale of lies and rampant abuse that destroyed 9 years of Asia Bibi’s life, heaping terrible sadness, separation and pain on her daughters and her husband. God reward you for your courage and determination to stand by Asia in her time of darkness…

This journalist put herself at some risk in talking to others about about Asia but would not back down.

    Thank you Anne Tollet !

I am astonished at the resemblance between Ms. Bibi and Kim Foxx, State’s Attorney in Chicago, the woman who is being investigated over the Jussie Smollett affair. They say everyone has a double.
