Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Philippines: Dutch hostage killed fleeing jihadi captors

May 31, 2019 10:24 am By Christine Douglass-Williams

A Dutch hostage held by the jihadist militia Abu Sayyaf has been killed by his captors “as he tried to flee during a battle” with Philippine troops.  59 year old Ewold Horn, a photographer and birdwatcher was captured since 2014.

The Dutch foreign minister “Stef Blok said he would seek to clarify the details, saying he was “shocked by this terrible outcome”.

There is nothing shocking about this tragic loss and murder, and nothing to clarify about jihadist killings. They fight “in the cause of Allah” leaving massive global carnage and deaths in their wake, including persecution, torture and extortion.

Our Prophet, the Messenger of our Lord, has ordered us to fight you till you worship Allah Alone or give Jizya (i.e. tribute); and our Prophet has informed us that our Lord says:– “Whoever amongst us is killed (i.e. martyred), shall go to Paradise to lead such a luxurious life as he has never seen, and whoever amongst us remain alive, shall become your master.”   Sahih Bukhari (Book 53 Hadith 386)

Abu Sayyaf is one of the smallest and most violent jihadist groups in the southern Philippines. Its name means “bearer of the sword” and it is notorious for kidnapping for ransom, and for attacks on civilians and the army.

“Over the last year and a half Abu Sayyaf has also taken several people hostage… Three groups of Indonesians and Malaysians were released earlier in 2016, but two Canadians and one German were killed after their ransom deadlines passed.”

Sayyaf declared allegiance to the Islamic State and adheres to the letter of its violent doctrine…

“Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not.” Quran (2:216)

“Let those fight in the way of Allah who sell the life of this world for the other. Whoso fighteth in the way of Allah, be he slain or be he victorious, on him We shall bestow a vast reward.” Quran (4:74)

“(Remember) when your Lord inspired the angels… “I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them” Quran (8:12)

“Dutch hostage killed fleeing Abu Sayyaf captors in Philippines”, BBC News, May 31, 2019:

A Dutch hostage held by Philippines militant Islamist group Abu Sayyaf has been killed as he tried to flee during a battle with troops, the army says.

Ewold Horn, 59, was killed by his captors during an army operation against the Islamic State-linked group on the island of Jolo.

The photographer and birdwatcher died during a 90-minute exchange of fire, Brig-Gen Divino Rey Pabayo said.

Six Abu Sayyaf militants were killed, the army said.

Also killed during the operation in the Sulu area of Mindanao was the “second wife” of the group’s “top leader”, it said.

Mr Horn was one of two European photographers captured by the militants in the southern Philippines in February 2012.

He was seized along with Swiss national Lorenzo Vinciguerra on Tawi Tawi island. Mr Vinciguerra managed to escape during an army attack in 2014.

Soldiers have recovered Mr Horn’s body, Gen Pabayo said.

The Dutch foreign ministry confirmed Mr Horn’s death. Foreign Minister Stef Blok said he would seek to clarify the details, saying he was “shocked by this terrible outcome”….

Innocent man with innocent pursuits murdered by swivel-eyed psychos who believe their so-called prophet flew on a winged horse to Jerusalem and had a meal with prophets who had been dust for 2,500 years!

That’s the way to see this surreal situation. And it could have been anyone! Us, included.

Agree. Anyone of us could be next. Our children could be next. We must debunk this absurd Death Cult.

Agree 100%. There is NO other way to see this surreal situation.

And then I think of my own daughter – who loves photography and birdwatching…

Grimly true. Horn was a bird watcher and photographer–an altogether peaceful man.

(..Horn was a bird watcher and photographer–an altogether peaceful man..)

Okay, Was he also the type that thinks Islam is as good as any other religion or may be even better? And why am I getting some flash backs about the Scandinavian girls below when I read his story?

Horn was in the Philippines to photograph birds–the poor man may have known nothing at all about the Jihad there. The Philippines are not a Muslim country.

More to the point though, christianblood has done this many times before–actually applauded Muslims murdering Infidels, claiming they deserved it. Just despicable.

The Sulu Archipelago where he was held for years is a part of the greater Mindanao region of the Philippines with a large muslim population and many different active jihadist groups like ISIS, Al-Qaeda, Abu-sayaf, MLF and others. I am wondering why the degenerate Dutch who spent hundreds of euros in supporting Al-Qaeda “White Helmets” in Syria didn’t pay the few million dollar ransom money
          he was being held for?

Why do you take every news story as an opportunity to chime in with your own ideology and opinions? I find your posts almost as ignorant as the extremists in islam. I have said this to friends, every religion has its extremists and ALL are detrimental to civilized society.

          That is not true!

Other wise show me members of non-islamic religions beheading other peoples on videos while screaming the name of their deity or religion! Show me Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, Bahais or Zorasterian religious zealots gunning down people in night clubs or bombing trains, or attacking news paper offices and killing journalists or using vehicles and killing hundreds of civilians as muslims did in Europe for the past three years or flying planes into buildings and doing this on a daily basis!

Also when you say “Why do you take every news story as an opportunity to chime in with your own ideology and opinions?”, give me an example as to where I did this.

Most Westerners have not even heard about the Jihad in the Philippines–most don’t even know that there are any Muslims there at all.

And note that christianblood condemns the Dutch for supposedly not paying this ransom, but has not a word of criticism for the Muslim kidnappers who then murdered him.

And I have never seen that the Jihadists set a ransom for Horn, in any case, which christianblood claims the Dutch refused to pay–everything I have read about this case suggests that Horn was used as a shield to prevent Philippine troops for attacking them.

As always, christianblood condemns the victims of Islam, while giving Jihadists a pass. *Ugh*.

Poor Ewold Horn, a birdwatcher and photographer was kidnapped in 2012 during a wildlife trip in the Philippines. What a miserable end after suffering for 8 years.

He was MURDERED BY THE JIHADISTS, rather than allow him to be rescued.

The Dutch should send their army for a joint operation to clear the jihadists out of the jungle once and for all.

Hostage-taking and extorting rich ransoms is a TRADITIONAL Islamic way for making money.

EXTORTION is DECREED in Koran 9.23-29. “O you who have believed, indeed the polytheists are UNCLEAN, so let them not approach al-Masjid al-haram after this, their [final] year. And if you fear privation, Allah will ENRICH you from His bounty if He wills. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Wise. Fight against such of those who have been given the Scripture … until they pay the tribute readily, being brought low.”

EXTORTION is normative Islam, rather than an aberration.

mortimer: “The Dutch should send their army for a joint operation to clear the jihadists out of the jungle once and for all.”

All Western nations could help. Maybe clear them out of the Earth would be better, and send the wives and children to reprograming camps; since they wouldn’t have to fear their lord and masters, reprogramming may work in that case.

Then do the same with Boco Haram in Africa, then the next, then the next …

From your previous posts, Mortimer, I doubt that you meant “take no prisoners” by posting to clear them out.
But annihilating them makes the most sense to me, though it conflicts with my beliefs. And, Maj. Daniel Tripplet’s ultimate solution [sounds familiar] makes the most sense to me, as well, or this (killing our children next, Islamic misery, death, conquest, terror, subjugation, …) will go on and on and on. But that solution also conflicts with my upbringing and beliefs.

They keep coming back just like the Taliban in Afghanistan and Muslims in Europe. And so, Abu Sayyaf is likely to return, as well, especially with Islamic nations providing them weapons and money.

Annihilating them makes the most sense for victory, but then we become like them.

According to The Guardian, Ewold Horn had been seized – along with a Swiss national -while the two were bird watching on the remote southern island of Tawi-Tawi in 2012. A link has been provided below.

Majority of population of Tawi-Tawi is Muslim – with over 95% adherence.

There are many EXTREMELY dangerous places in the world – and travelers need to seriously consider security threats from objective sources before travel. Although I am extremely saddened by his loss, Mr. Horn should not have made that journey.

It’s getting harder to feel sorry for people who insist on going to known Islamic hellholes fo r tourist, leisure or other non essential reasons out of sheer naivety. If you don’t or won’t do your homework, don’t expect to get rescued from your idiocy.

Sorry, not sorry. Same with those Norwegian girls. We have the internet no excuse for blind ignorance. Tired of hearing about these people and their foolish decisions

Mr. Horn was a passionate bird watcher, and was going there for a special bird which could only be found there, he went with this friend who escaped and he was to sick to escape with him. I think Mr. Horn never thought, being a birdwatcher that something like that could happen to a birdwatcher. But nowadays, you can expect anything and everything.
And of course the Dutch minister and the government was so shocked again, may be they can put candles and woolly bears somewhere, but that has become an old story, I don’t know how much the dutch government has been done for him, but a few days ago I read that the dutch government will take in about 24.000 migrants from Venezuela and a lot of refugees from Lybie or Libanon, but any way muslims and they will take back the Jihadi’s and their families.
What a shame is the Dutch government. No spine like all the other governments, but Islam is still a “Religion of Peace. He was kept there for 7 years, with ill health and conditions.
When people still go to Islamic countries, it is plain stupidity and still they think, nothing will happen to them.
It’s like climbing the Mount Everest with 100 people together, same risks.

Unfortunately the Philippines allowed this area in their country to form for a long time. And when they do take any action it appears to be tippy-toe, and the problem just gets larger and worse.

Duterte always tries to come across as a tough guy. Why does he not destroy the Islamic hotbed that is the southern part of his country once and for all? He must be on Abu Sayyaffs’ payroll.

This is very true, J_not_a. Duterte poses as a tough guy because he is willing to murder drug addicts. But when it comes to Jihadists, he actually schmoozes with them.
