American Taliban Fighter John Walker Lindh will be set free after 17 years in jail. His early release for ‘good behavior’ shows just how ill equipped authorities are in protecting the public from jihadists. Lindh does not believe he did anything wrong. He says “we are in prison due to our beliefs and the practice of our religion, not for committing any crime”. He sees himself as a devoted religious adherent who was wronged, not the fact that he was a Taliban jihadist. If a dangerous Western offender justified his actions and indicated a high probability of re-offending, he or she will likely not be released. Lindh has also stated that the Islamic State was “‘doing a spectacular job‘ after the Islamic group beheaded U.S. journalists.” That included James Foley.
Lindh has given every indication that he is a threat to public safety, but he is still being released into an American community. From there, he will find like-minded jihadists and continue to expand his jihad mission as an enemy of America. In a Reuters report Secretary of State Mike Pompeo criticized Lindh’s release and expressed the belief that the decision should be reviewed. Pompeo called the decision to release him “Unexplainable and unconscionable, and warned that Lindh “still is threatening the United states of America, still committed to the very jihad that he engaged in that killed a great American and a great CIA officer. There’s something deeply troubling and wrong about it.”
More “war on terror” jail releases are soon to come.
“Revealed: John Walker Lindh said in 2015 ISIS was ‘doing a spectacular job’ after it beheaded U.S. journalist James Foley as outrage grows over American Taliban’s release from prison on Thursday”, by Ariel Zilber and Keith Griffith, Daily Mail, May 22, 2019:
John Walker Lindh, the American Taliban who is set to go free on Thursday after spending 17 years in prison, said in 2015 that ISIS was ‘doing a spectacular job’ after the Islamic group beheaded U.S. journalists.
Lindh expressed support for ISIS in a series of letters he wrote from prison to a producer at KNBC-TV in Los Angeles.
Lindh, who is originally from Marin County, California, was asked about his reaction to ISIS beheadings of Americans, including journalist James Foley.
‘We are in prison due to our beliefs and the practice of our religion, not for committing any crime,’ Lindh wrote from the Federal Correctional Complex in Terre Haute, Indiana, in a March 2014 letter.
On August 19, 2014, ISIS circulated a video online showing the moments before the beheading of Foley, who was in Syria covering the civil war for Agence France-Presse and GlobalPost.
Lindh, the U.S. national who joined the Taliban and was captured by American forces during the invasion of Afghanistan in November 2001, was asked his response to the beheadings of Foley and others and whether ISIS represented Islam.
‘Yes, and they are doing a spectacular job,’ he wrote in February 2015.
‘The Islamic State is clearly very sincere and serious about fulfilling the long-neglected religious obligation of establishing a caliphate through armed struggle, which is the only correct method.’
Lindh’s letters to KNBC-TV have national security officials worried that after his release from prison, he will pose a threat.
In 2016, the National Counter Terrorism Center prepared a memo which found that Lindh ‘continued to advocate for global jihad and to write and translate violent extremist texts.’
Government officials have read similar reports about Lindh in recent weeks, according to NBC News.
Outrage is mounting on the eve of Lindh’s release.
Foley’s mother appeared on Fox News on Thursday and said she does not believe a man who supported her son’s killers should walk free…..

Parole boards dealing with Muslims should consist mainly of people who have studied and mastered Islam’s primary source texts and also mastered Islam’s main essential teachings of JIHADISM and AL WALAA WAL BARAA (Islamic apartheid). Otherwise, parole board members will be TOO UNINFORMED and NAIVE about the clues and teachings and attitudes that are part of a JIHADIST’S TWISTED THINKING. They will be UNABLE to EXPOSE the jihadist’s VICIOUSNESS and they will be easily TRICKED.
Guy Forester says
Better yet, victims of the terrorists would have the most accurate assessment of the suitability for release out into the public.

Do some think, as have way too many times, that he can be used for some counter terrorist plot? Why would anyone think we could ‘make a deal’ with anything to do with Islam?

Isn’t there a “Seal Team” or something that can “FIX” this?

I am a former abolitionist. Muslim terrorists changed my mind. They actively seek death, and so, Western societies should oblige such people. Islamic terrorists should be tried and then led to the public executioner who will conduct them into the next world.
All jihadists should be offered the option of advanced, modern, academic and psychological de-programming. Once they master the debunking of Islam and teach the materials to others, they may be eligible for a reduction of their sentence. However, a terrorist who still believes in the terrorist ideology should never be released, since he will be an ongoing danger to society.

Treason during wartime, and we are at war, requires a speedy death penalty; especially during non-conventional wars where the enemy infiltrates without a uniform.

No, you are right, I can not speak to the law. I should have said, “should require a speedy death penalty”.

How could we ever trust anyone in any ‘reform’ project? Not possible.

Is there no hope of dramatically changing and reforming Islam? Birth religions are as difficult to let go as mother tongue language. Studies show towards the end of life people go back to their mother tongue language and original religion if they had converted. I think this has to do with parental communication with child in utero plus the mysteries of procreation and where the incoming soul chooses to incarnate for whatever purpose.
Nothing is stronger than the mother child bond.

Do not forget that Muslims consider Muhammad to be the perfect man and they also see Islam as the perfect religion. There is no need to change something that is perfect and any attempt at any change at all would only result in making imperfect that which is already perfect. Islam can not be reformed. It was, is and always will be perfect. It was perfect as Muhammad practiced it and to remain perfect it must be practiced in that same way, always and forever until Judgment Day itself. Yes, Islam is perfect just as Muhammad was perfect — perfectly evil.
Flavius Claudius Iulianus says
ALL Muslims are guilty. They are all guilty of sitting their children and/or their grandchildren upon their knee, and teaching them that Mohammad was the very best of men and to be emulated in every way.
And thus the misery is passed on from generation to generation.

Children don’t learn religions in utero–they do learn them when they are young, though.
The main reason Islam does not change and cannot be reformed is that it teaches that any changes are not only forbidden, but punishable by death.

If we judged as Mr. Lindh does judge (see Quran 5:33) his penalty for waging war against us should have been one of the following:
1. killed or crucified
2. had an arm and a leg amputated from opposite sides of his body
or
3. been exiled from our land.
As long as he remains a Muslim, I’d say he has not paid his debt to our society.
James Lincoln says
From all of my research regarding American Taliban Fighter John Walker Lindh, there is absolutely no indication that he is changed any of his views on Islam.
In other words, after 17 years in jail, he carries the same beliefs regarding Islamic Jihad as he did when he was captured on November 25, 2001, by Afghan Northern Alliance forces.
He should have received a life sentence during his trial anyway – instead he has been released !!!
This is absolutely maddening !!!

I hear that Mel Gibson and Jim Caviezel are working on a sequel to “The Passion of the Christ” and it will concern events following the crucifixion. Both Gibson and Caviezel have become outcasts from Hollywood but they do good work. I am looking forward to watching the movie they make — sometime next year perhaps (or sooner).
eduardo odraude says
Gibson became an outcast mainly because he kept spouting Jew hatred. Whether he still goes that way, I don’t know. A pity he learned anti-Semitism from his pops. Mel Gibson had great charisma as an actor. Remember Mad Max!
CogitoErgoSum says
Gibson was drunk at the time he made his tirade against the Jews and did offer an apology and asked for forgiveness. I’m not Jewish and I can speak only for myself but I don’t hold it against him. I hope he’s changed some of his opinions since that sad event but, yes, his foolishness did make him an outcast and he remains so. I still liked his movie about Christ though and I hope his next one is as good or better.
As for Jim Caviezel, he is in my opinion a very good and honorable man who deserves to be a bigger star than he has been so far. He not only has talent but a strong moral sense. I wish the best to both Gibson and Caviezel on this upcoming movie.

To get away from Hollywood, I sometimes watch Pureflix movies — they have their own website, but their movies are also available for streaming on Amazon. Many of the Pureflix films are Christian themed yet excellent as entertainment and drama, unless you are anti-religious, in which case you might not enjoy them because of the spiritual themes. I’ve enjoyed several of their 4 and 5 star customer-rated movies, found them surprisingly good. They usually have far profounder drama and more real human depth than Hollywood.

It seems that Benedict does indeed consider the Infidels to be “filthy”–but does he have any problem with this murderous Jihadist being released in to the community to threaten Americans? Not so he says, certainly.
And here he is, saying that we will be conquered by Muslims because of such “filth”:
Benedict says
May 18, 2019 at 12:52 am
As I have said before: the phenomenon is through and through religious. Wherever and whenever an epochal event in history is going to take place a forerunner and a time of preparation is required. The baptism in the filth of Hollywood and San Pornando valley and the hate of traditional family values and the Christian faith, the propagation of abortions and same sex marriages, naked culture etc. are “the conditio sine qua non” Islam cannot conquer the West.
https://www.jihadwatch.org/2019/05/palestinian-fatwa-the-husband-has-the-right-to-enjoy-his-wife-sexually-at-any-time#comment-2099968
Of course, the implication that no one is conquered by Islam who does not deserve it is quite sickening–I asked him if the Christians and Jews of dark ages Arabia and the Christian Byzantines deserved to be conquered by Muslims–he would not, of course, answer.
The claim that Islam is more moral than the West–that nudist camps and Hollywood movies are filthy, but that pedophilia, rape, sex slavery, and mass slaughter is *not*–is something that I reject.
Whatever the shortcomings of the West–and they are many–we are still very much better and more moral than is Islam, whatever Benedict may think.

What a shame he didn’t follow Al lah’s {unwitting} advice in k10:94 and consult “the scriptures that was before”
{The Bible} for then he would have discovered the 2 chief laws{missing in islam} and those essential Exodus 20 laws {which the koran disagrees with..} and seen all the errors in the koran thus resulting in the understanding of how wrong islam is…
There is mere knowledge and there is wisdom:wisdom gives one the ability to figure out what is true and what is false.
