Lawrence of Arabia’s route hasn’t grown any safer since. And, in part due to the Muslim Brotherhood regime in Egypt collaborating with Jihadists in the Sinai, is now completely unsafe.
The hosts have continued the format at their new digs, “The Grand Tour,” with the most recent special filmed in Mongolia. The next was to see the trio follow in the footsteps of Thomas Edward Lawrence, more commonly known as Lawrence of Arabia, by traveling from Saudi Arabia to Cairo, Egypt, via the Sinai Peninsula.
Unfortunately the special has been canceled due to terrorism fears, Clarkson revealed in a column published on May 12 in the Sunday Times. An alternative is planned, though, to be filmed in Slough, United Kingdom.
“This would be an epic journey, except it would mean crossing the Sinai Peninsula and, thanks to Isis, the chances of us all arriving on the other side with heads were slim,” Clarkson wrote.
This is yet another reminder of the tragedy of Islam.
So many of the world’s natural wonders are inaccessible due to the religious violence of a single group.

Remember how the Turks altered TE Lawrence….
….whereupon he would soak his white cloak in blood.

Under terms of Warfare, Israel held the Sinai for quite a while but gave it up after tough talks with Egypt over LAND FOR PEACE….
Might’ve been better just to have held on to Sinai, have the Israelis influence the area, secure it, and utilize its oil reserves….

I like this new way of bringing people’s attention to how widespread and disastrous Islam’s influence on the world, Daniel!

There are places I would love to visit that have been overrun by Muslims–but this is not a wise idea.

I was thinkin about posting wasn’t Lawrence of Arabia a GAY Terrorist who lead murderous Muslim terrorist against a sick demented terrorist Ottoman Regime? ?
gravenimage says
He’s an equivocal figure at best–not exactly the straight-forward hero many think.
Richard says
Yes. I brought home a copy of his Seven Pillars of Wisdom from a college course I was taking. My Uncle Barton burned it.
Mac-101 says
Richard, you were best off not readin it if I recall. It’s been 45 years since I read it but I was struck by how sick this “Hero” was!
CRUSADER says
Hard to say if Israel would’ve been created if TE Lawrence hadn’t accomplished what he had….

Hard to tell, CRUSADER–certainly the Ottoman Empire was never going to allow Jews to live in freedom–but Muslims Arabs have been pretty opposed to it, as well.
As for TE Lawrence himself, he was of the same bloody mind:
“T. E. Lawrence “of Arabia” Demanded Ethnic Cleansing of Jews From Jerusalem & Palestine; Should be “Assimilated” by Arabs”
http://www.debbieschlussel.com/67990/t-e-lawrence-of-arabia-demanded-ethnic-cleansing-of-jews-from-jerusalem-should-be-assimilated-by-arabs/
If any of his actions aided the establishment of Israel, it was unintentional.
Mac-101 says
Thanks Gravin. I don’t remember his Ethnic cleansing demand. It’d be real interesting what the average British Elitist thought of Orientalism and what did Orientalism embrace back at the turn of the 20th century!

Thanks, Mac.
I think a lot of people in the West thought of Islam as “exotic” at the time, and were on their way to forgetting how dangerous it is.

President Sisi inherited a Sinai Peninsula filled with terrorists. It seems this highly trained military man has not been able to eliminate the terrorists in the Sinai completely.
This must be a reflection of the depth of the general commitment to terrorism among Egyptian Muslims, rather than the competence of Sisi. The Egyptian police, army, navy and air force must all be on the take from the terrorists.
gravenimage says
Al Sisi, like most Muslim leaders, only seems to be concerned about Jihadists when they present a direct threat to their own regimes.

Top Gear Unable to Retrace Lawrence of Arabia Route Due to Islamic Terror
……………………..
That pretty much says it all.
And Thomas Edward Lawrence was raped by Turkish Muslim troops, so the route was not safe then, either.
Mac-101 says
If I recall correctly he was flagellated severely also, so one each anniversary of his rape he’d flagellate himself like a Shia.

A British article? Cancelled has two l’s.

Top Gear is British, but this article is from Motor Authority, which may not be.

There is a fascinating study of the subtle Islamic content of the movie Lawrence of Arabia — “Lawrence of Arabia as you Never Saw It” by Charles Martel and Louis Palme, available on Amazon. TE Lawrence wrote after the collapse of his mission, “Rebels, especially successful rebels, were of necessity bad subjects and worse governors. . . Anyone who pushed through to success a rebellion of the weak against their masters must come out of it so stained in estimation that afterward nothing in the world would make him feel clean.”
gravenimage says
And what he says is also untrue. The Americans made a pretty good job of it–Muslim barbarians, not so much…

Nobody has commented on the dig at Slough.
Slough is a town with a VERY high immigrant proportion. If anyone reading this has better knowledge of the town than I, perhaps they could outline a route that would provide TV viewing as good as the journey the trio originally intended.
