Turkey has offered to help Canada repatriate Islamic State (IS) fighters who are currently held in Syria, along with their families. Canada’s Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) views Turkey as “a better option than Iraq” to partner with, “where foreign ISIS members could face death sentences”; while Jessica Davis, a former Canadian Security Intelligence Service analyst, recognized that returning IS fighters has its own challenges, but in her view “it had to be done”. Davis reasoned:
I think leaving them overseas is much more problematic from a threat perspective. There’s a possibility of being released, of being reintegrated into ISIS forces. All of those things just make it worse.
In a rather troubling demonstration of just how serious the dilemma is in exploring ways to repatriate returning Islamic State jihadists into Western nations, Iraq justified handing down death sentences to British Islamic State jihadists as a “bid to protect Britain.” According to judge Abdul Sattar Beraqdar, spokesman for the Supreme Judicial Council:
The punishment, as much as it seems strong, will affect the security of your country….I am sure there are hundreds of people in Britain at this moment thinking of committing similar crimes.”
Should Islamic State fighters indeed return to Canada, the country’s current leadership has shown no reason to be trusted with the responsibility of public safety. Some reasons why:
- Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, threw out a welcome mat to Islamic State jihadists, while stating — according to Canadian Baptist minister Steve Long — that “evangelical Christians were the worst part of Canadian society.”
- Trudeau “pledged taxpayer funds” last year to “de-radicalize” IS jihadists, and declared that they could become “an extraordinarily powerful voice.” De-radicalization programs have been tried and failed. While reasons for such overwhelming failure are still being studied, it is obvious, or at least should be, that for any reform program to work, there must be a strong will on behalf of the participant. Jihadists are fueled by religious zeal. They are engaged in a religiously sanctioned war against ‘disbelieving’ Western nations. Take for example the words of the soon-to-be released American Taliban Fighter John Walker Lindh: “we are in prison due to our beliefs and the practice of our religion, not for committing any crime.”
- Breitbart Leaked documents from the Canadian Security Intelligence Service which showed “that the intelligence service is far more concerned with Islamic terrorism behind closed doors than the left-wing Trudeau government will admit in public.”
- It emerged in 2017 that dozens of jihadis were walking free in Canada, yet authorities won’t charge them.
- Trudeau has a reputation of being soft, if not ‘kind’, to jihadists. He paid out jihadist Omar Khadr 10.5 million dollars for shoddy treatment in Gitmo; Trudeau made up silly excuses and said he also felt the frustration of Canadians when questioned about it.
- Trudeau met privately with Joshua Boyle, a suspicious former Taliban captive who is also now up on 15 criminal charges. One wonders why.
- Trudeau also accused the Conservative party of “Islamophobia” for merely inquiring about the threat to Canadians posed by jihad terror.
- Member of Parliament Omar Alghabra represented Canada at the 44th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. Since when is Canada an OIC state? The thought now of Canada teaming up with the likes of Turkey to “repatriate ISIS members” is daunting. “The Liberal government has said it would be difficult to get the Canadians out of Syria because they could be arrested and charged by authorities in neighbouring Turkey and Iraq.” Much could go very wrong in partnering with Turkey.
Unless a government can be fully trusted to protect public interests first, Islamic State jihadists should not be allowed back into Western nations. They are enemy combatants, many of whom are already walking free in Canada and elsewhere. The current threat is bad enough already as the Islamic State has long found successes in infiltrating refugee streams. Under the current government, Canada ascribes to open doors, and boasted about ‘leading the charge’ in the UN Global Migration Pact.
Seven months ago Global News reported on an opposition Conservative government motion tabled in the House of Commons which “called on the government of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to put forward a plan within 45 days for bringing to justice those who fought with ISIS.” Member of Parliament Michelle Rempel– who introduced the motion– argued that “the government should acknowledge that anyone who traveled abroad to take part in terrorism or genocide should face legal consequences.” Rempel continued….
To date this government under Justin Trudeau has failed to take action, and Andrew Scheer’s Conservatives are calling on the Prime Minister to immediately table a plan to serve justice to anyone who left our country to fight with this terrorist organization.
As an alternative to a death sentence as advised by Iraqi judge Abdul Sattar Beraqdar, Jihadists should be tried and prosecuted in a separate international court, one that fully understands the nature of the Islamic jihad against the West. Unfortunately, this institution does not exist; and jihadists should be kept in separate institutions away from Western civilization since they spread salafi ideology in regular jails and they continue their jihad war once released. Gitmo, which was shut down by Obama, is a model of a good start. Donald Trump reversed the policy of the Obama Administration last year and signed an executive order to keep Gitmo open. Trump reasoned….
“Terrorists who do things like place bombs in civilian hospitals are evil,” Trump said. “When possible, we have no choice but to annihilate them. When necessary, we must be able to detain and question them. But we must be clear: terrorists are not merely criminals. They are unlawful enemy combatants. And when captured overseas, they should be treated like the terrorists they are…..In the past, we have foolishly released hundreds of dangerous terrorists, only to meet them again on the battlefield – including the Isis leader, al-Baghdadi.”
At the turn of the new year, Trump’s move to re-open Gitmo was branded–there’s that word again– “Islamophobic“.
Canadians should be in uproar over Trudeau’s sprawling out the welcome mat to Islamic State militants, his reckless immigration policy, dismissal of the global war on terror, and new efforts to repatriate Islamic State fighters, using the help of Turkey.
“Turkey willing to help Canada repatriate ISIS members held in Syria, official says”, by Stewart Bell, Global News, May 21, 2019:
Turkey is open to allowing captured Canadian ISIS members to transit through the country so they can return to Canada for prosecution, a Turkish official said in an interview.
The official told Global News that Turkey was willing to co-operate with the RCMP to repatriate the dozens of Canadians caught by U.S.-backed Kurdish forces during the collapse of ISIS.
“I think we would be positive to that,” said the official. Due to the sensitivity of the issue, the official and a colleague spoke on the condition they would not be identified.
They said Turkey would not deal directly with the Kurdish forces holding the Canadians in Syria but said if the RCMP or Canadian Armed Forces brought them to the border, they would be allowed through.
“With some imagination, I suppose a way could be found,” the official said.
The RCMP has been exploring options for bringing the roughly 30 Canadians held by the Syrian Democratic Forces back to Canada. Turkey is considered the preferred route.
The Liberal government has said it would be difficult to get the Canadians out of Syria because they could be arrested and charged by authorities in neighbouring Turkey and Iraq.
But in a national security podcast released Friday, two experts said Canada’s current policy of inaction was not a lasting solution and the government needed to find a way to get them home.
“There needs to be something done about these Canadians that are abroad,” said Leah West, a former Department of Justice lawyer and now a doctoral candidate at the University of Toronto faculty of law.
Speaking on A Podcast Called Intrepid, she told hosts Stephanie Carvin and Craig Forcese that countries needed to work out a collective solution, “because leaving them in the hands of the Kurds is not sustainable.”
Jessica Davis, a former Canadian Security Intelligence Service analyst and now president of Insight Threat Intelligence, said while returning them to Canada had its own challenges, it had to be done.
“I think leaving them overseas is much more problematic from a threat perspective. There’s a possibility of being released, of being reintegrated into ISIS forces. All of those things just make it worse,” she said.
While the RCMP has been looking into transiting the Canadians through Turkey, it wants to ensure Turkish authorities would not question the detainees or search their electronic devices.
Doing so could taint their prosecution in Canada. Upon their arrival in Canada, the RCMP intends to lay charges when possible or seek peace bonds to restrict their actions.
The RCMP sees Turkey as a better option than Iraq, where foreign ISIS members could face death sentences. An RCMP delegation visited Turkey in March, and officials from the two NATO allies held recent security consultations.
One complication is who would hand the detainees over to Turkish authorities……
Keya says
Death sentence is what they need if prosecuted in Iraq. It is madness to bring them to Canada where they will get light sentences or set loose. People all over Canada should be protesting heavily.

O.C., the southern US has a number of states who would welcome a like-minded, patriotic person who wishes to join in protecting the Constitution. There was nothing but false and delusional hope for German Jews who wished that Hitler did not mean what he was saying, writing and doing in the steps toward the Holocaust. Canada, as it turns over its government to muslims and collaborators will follow a similar path.

We do.
Unfortunately, the CBC, Turdolt’s media lap dog, gets over a BILLION in tax money each year so, guess who doesn’t get any coverage.
The way our political system is set up, when a prime minister has a majority government, they literally have more power than a dictator and since Turdolt, in his election campaign, actually said, “There’s a level of admiration I actually have for China. Because their basic dictatorship is allowing them to actually turn their economy around on a dime.” (A direct quote NOT out of context.) that should clue everybody in, to the thought processes behind this self proclaiming feminist’s decisions; and the kind of trouble Canada is in.
Everything, and I mean everything, that the democrats want changed in the American electoral system, is what helped prevent Hillary – apparently not a genuine feminist like Turdolt – from getting elected.
Tom says
Agree 100%. Deal with the problem over there rather than here in Canada.
The RCMP have said it is almost impossible to get enough evidence to prosecute ISIS jihadi’s who return to Canada. Why then would we allow them back.
Why should Canadian’s become responsible for the wives and offspring of Jihadi killers just because they happen to have Canadian passports or citizenship.
Why should our children be subjected to the threat of ISIS killers walking free on our streets.
mortimer says
They are guilty of treason against Canada and crimes against humanity. They renounced their citizenship, burned their Canadian passports, so let the stew in Sharia Berzerkistan.
Terry Gain says
I would love to see these bastards denied re-entry, but what legal basis is there for that? In Canada, even the government is required to obey the law.
Frank Anderson says
T.G., I would explore the legal possibility, which I have no doubt present authorities in Canada will NOT, that they either rejected their citizenship and lost the claim of re-entry, or that they are war criminals who should be prosecuted. EVERY country has jurisdiction to prosecute war crimes upon people within their boundaries and legal authority. When the country is being run by people who are more concerned with giving aid and comfort to war criminals than prosecuting them, there is a problem of the spread of war crimes.

The US is also talking about refusing reentry for some of these Jihadists.
I would *love* to see Canada do the same.
These Jihadists have clearly rejected the civilized Western nations they were living in.
Tom says
Terry in Canada the previous Conservative government had legislation to strip ISIS jihadi’s of their citizenship. Trudeau and his Liberal government killed that legislation.
There is a Not Withstanding clause in our Canadian Constitution that would allow a government to circumvent restrictions that prevent such legislation.
So it is possible to stop these ISIS killers and their families from ever returning to Canada.
Emmanuel says
Of course, just in time so these jihadist can mosey over the southern border. “Oh Canada”??
Crusades Were Right says
What a weird world we live in! The Iraqis seem to be more interested in protecting British citizens from jihad violence than the British authorities are!
Frank Anderson says
To dismiss the active collaboration with illegal combatants and war criminals as misguided or insane is itself insane. Each member of Isis, Isil, Daesh, or whatever one calls the murderous group is fully responsible for all its crimes of war. Anyone who aides them is equally guilty of all their crimes, past, present and future. Spreading them worldwide is worse than failing to perform the duty of care (negligence) towards the country being betrayed. It is knowingly aiding in every crime they committed in the past and will commit in the future. How would one “deradicalize” any Nazi or Communist killer? What is different here and now? The leaders have young shiny faces and do not wear uniforms. They talk is soft, sweet voices about love and peace while bringing death and slavery to the citizens they control. At least Iraq has some sense of the atrocities these killers have committed and danger they pose.

All true, Frank.
James Lincoln says
Absolutely true, Frank.
And Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has no idea that he is totally out of his league when trying to deal with the barbaric ruthlessness of Islamic terrorism.
Frank Anderson says
James, you know as well as I do, that it makes no difference why he is collaborating with the destruction of Canada, or that other leaders are actively participating in the destruction of their countries, the result is the same. Germans voted Hitler to power from desperation and having a choice between Communism which they saw brutalizing the “Soviet Union” and Hitler promising better, but lying like a dog about his intentions. Sound decisions always demand examination of all choices and their risks and costs. Looking only at benefits is an incompetent method of arriving at a decision.
James Lincoln says

The refugees claim there is a pretty high percentage of aggressive ISIS men there and they attack many non-Islamics at the camp (poor fanatics have no where else to go these days):

Carol with total agreement and support for your question, and in true imitation of standard lawyer practice of answering a question with another question: Would Hitler or any of his supporters see themselves as the evil, murderous tyrants they were? I think that is why Sigmund Freud observed, based on a thought probably originating from Socrates, that endeavoring to understand yourself is the ultimate form of aggression. It is absolutely terrifying to face who we are until we do and start a process of becoming better. The people who are aiding, abetting, counselling and acting in furtherance of the muslim conquest see themselves as enlightened heroes, just as collaborators in WWII saw themselves. How long will the victims accept this?
Carol the 1st says
Frank…I’m an old-school Canadian and Trudeau is a brazen, puzzling fruitloop in my eyes. Was he too busy sucking on a silver spoon and being convinced his ‘strong’ image as “son of the PM” was the worthiest thing he had to maintain in life? Was he somehow thus deprived of a sense of solid reality and values? I can’t put my finger on it, but something is seriously amiss with this fellow. How kind of him to expect the Kurds to send the little ISIS darlings back home after “playtime” on the gameboard. “The whole world is a stage” to this profoundly disturbed and disturbing actor.
Frank Anderson says
Carol, only my thoughts based on my experience and observations:
I had the pleasure of being invited to visit the Vancouver area for a few months as part of my “re-start” after my world ended. The vast majority of Canadians I met were fine, wonderful and hospitable people deserving far better stewardship than they are receiving from traitorous leaders.
My adopted family struggled before my father’s death to keep me in a private military day school with many much more “well-off” class mates. After he died it took every dime of Social Security and VA benefits to keep me there, because that is what he wanted. Many of my classmates have done well and earned really successful lives. Some, particularly in earlier classes were despicable during the school years and went on to be even more so after graduating from college and law school to show just how rotten and corrupt they were. One managed to become a state judge until he was finally caught and removed from office.
I have a friend with an advanced degree who heads a local homeless shelter. Her memorable observation is that. “People don’t change; they just get older.” Every month for about the last 5 years several of my classmates and I meet for supper. We are all older and show it. But as far as personalities we have changed little.
About 15 years ago a lawyer friend hired me to represent his brother as a creditor in a bankruptcy case. The debtor had injured the brother and was hiding from the consequences. I observed him at a brief creditors’ meeting and saw things that made me want to see more. I asked for permission to video record an extended meeting, which was denied. Instead I brought an MD Psychiatrist and a PhD Clinical Psychologist to the meeting to observe him, and his lawyer. It turns out the debtor was a diagnosed Sociopath. I did some reading and found out that in the US, approximately 1 person in 30 has no sense of legal, moral or ethical obligation to others, and is therefore considered a sociopath.
Before I went to law school I was in charge of the meter department of an electric utility with about 30,000 active accounts. They had never suspected, much less acted upon, the idea that tampering was a problem. Their line losses, the difference between what was bought at the substation and sold to the customers was 9 percent when it should have been by engineering calculations 6 percent.
My boss did not like the 2 technicians who tested and maintained the meters and wanted me to fire them and start over. I tried a different approach, as I was taught by my uncle and father by choice #2. We worked out a plan to almost eliminate the errors they made far too frequently, and rearranged their work so they could cheerfully test 60 meters per day instead of 8 in a miserable day. Instead of getting fired, they earned raises which my boss was happy to give. When they tested subdivisions, about 1 meter in 30 was tampered. Large scale testing eventually found more that 1,000 tampered and defective meters, and brought the line losses down to approximately the level expected in the engineering calculations. I think the 1 in 30 may have some support from this experience.
I wrote a paper when I went back to college to study accounting. In that paper I observed that corruption rises to the top because its first priority is to eliminate any resistance and promote only those who support it. A corrupt boss will hardly tolerate, much less promote a dissident subordinate. That is where Canadian leadership acts to keep its control over its victims, the Canadian people, as long as they will allow it.

Why does Erdogan not take in these fine citizens of the world and give them make them Turkish citizens if he loves them so much? They stop being Canada citizens when they took up arms with a terrorist network over seas in my opinion.
Frank Anderson says
WPM don’t you think the answer is obvious: He wants to put them where they can kill and spread jihad instead of taking them to his Islamic paradise where they will be nothing but parasites and trouble for him. He is not stupid; nor is he either self-defeating or self-destructive.
WPM says
I was trying to be ironic ,I know Erdogan does not want to take these parasites as Turkey citizens. It is the same thru-out the Islamic world they export their most insane “problem children ” to the western world .None of the countries there Jordon ,Saudis, Turkey or Iran ,take in any “refugees”,or misplace” people of war” even the ones from the same kind or “brand” of Islam practice in their countries.. We hear the western left constantly telling us that this or that does not reflect our values. That’s not who we are, they say. I agree, sympathy for sadistic killers is not who we are. Sympathy for sadistic killers appears to be a big part of western leftist values. I believe that the western left go home and cry in their pillows at night because we are unsympathetic in our treatment of sadistic killers. In the wake of 9-11 I have watched the western left descend in to madness and I believe that their decent in to madness is the result of their world vision crashing down on them.
