“Disney’s popular live-action remake of its classic animated film ‘Aladdin,’ now enjoying hot reviews, especially from movie-goers (currently 94 percent positive on movie review aggregator ‘Rotten Tomatoes’), is actually “rooted in racism, Orientalism and Islamophobia. At least, that’s according to the Council on American Islamic Relations.”
There are no limits to CAIR’s imposition of Islamic supremacism upon American culture and society, despite stating on its website:
CAIR’s vision is to be a leading advocate for justice and mutual understanding.
CAIR supports free enterprise, freedom of religion and freedom of expression.
CAIR does not advocate freedom of expression, nor justice nor mutual understanding. It is a one-way street with CAIR. It aims to shut down any expression that it considers offensive to Islam and to Muslims. Normative Islam transcends personal faith. It is also a complete social and political system, as revealed by the Sharia — regarded by Muslims as divine law. Since Muslims are commanded to spread the religion and conquer the House of War, the Islamic principle of al-Wala’ wal-Bara’ is foundational. This concept commands complete loyalty to Islam and disavowal of all others. So “it is not enough for a Muslim to dislike un-Islamic practices and non-Muslims; instead, true Muslims must reject un-Islamic practices and non-Muslims actively and wholeheartedly.” This is the heart and core of Islamic supremacism; it is the reason why disbelievers relentlessly are beaten down for being “Islamophobic” for merely a whiff of anything that offends Islam or Muslims.
The UK did a U-turn in mid May and rejected the working definition of “Islamophobia” created by an All-Party Parliamentary Group on British Muslims. The group stated that “Islamophobia is rooted in racism and is a type of racism that targets expressions of Muslimness or perceived Muslimness.” One can see how the “Islamophobia” ploy works hand in hand with the concept of al-Wala’ wal-Bara’; i.e., anything Muslim is superior and any disbeliever who confronts this superiority either intentionally or unintentionally will face the wrath of the “anti-Islamophobia” brigade. Hamas-linked CAIR is one of the biggest such “brigades” on Western soil. CAIR’s supremacist disdain for American culture and values is palpable in accordance with al-Wala’ wal-Bara’; how dare Hollywood try to depict anything remotely connected to Islam in anything but a uniformly positive light? Evidently, had CAIR et al been consulted in the making of the movie Aladdin, the movie would look quite different, not to mention being a box office flop.
CAIR also condemned Law & Order: Special Victims Unit for a so-called “Islamophobic” episode, and CAIR didn’t stop there. It wrote a letter to the show’s executive producer to “urge you and your staff to meet with leaders of the Muslim community to learn why this episode makes the rising tide of bigotry even worse, and what you can to do mitigate the damage that has already been done.”
As CAIR was busy shredding the endearing movie Aladdin as being rooted in “racism, orientalism and Islamophobia,” the group couldn’t resist adding in a few jabs against Trump, too:
Moreover, says CAIR, it is especially bad to release such a movie “during the Trump era of rapidly rising anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant and racist animus.” That “only serves to normalize stereotyping and to marginalize minority communities,” the organization claims.
While CAIR continues to make a societal nuisance of itself, an Investigative Project report “noted that CAIR’s protest ‘has not garnered much traction’.”
“U.S. ISLAMISTS BLAST DISNEY OVER ‘ALADDIN,'” World Net Daily, June 13, 2019:
Disney’s popular live-action remake of its classic animated film “Aladdin,” now enjoying hot reviews, especially from movie-goers (currently 94 percent positive on movie review aggregator “Rotten Tomatoes”), is actually “rooted in racism, Orientalism and Islamophobia.”
At least, that’s according to the Council on American Islamic Relations, which while claiming the mantle of Muslim civil rights organization has a long trail of terror ties, including being named by a federal judge as a co-conspirator in the largest terror-funding trial in U.S. history.
Moreover, says CAIR, it is especially bad to release such a movie “during the Trump era of rapidly rising anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant and racist animus.”
That “only serves to normalize stereotyping and to marginalize minority communities,” the organization claims.
But, asks Hany Ghoraba, for the Investigative Project on Terrorism: “What happens when you take a classic story created by a Syrian writer, modernized with a multi-ethnic, multi-national cast, that tops the box office from the United States to the Middle East?”
“If the Council on American-Islamic Relations is involved,” says Ghoraba, “you get empty cries of ‘Islamophobia.’”
The CAIR statement, from its founder and CEO Nihad Awad, lashed out at Disney: “The overall setting, tone and character development in the ‘Aladdin’ story continues to promote stereotypes, resulting in a perpetuation of Islamophobic ideas and images. We urge the public and film critics to scrutinize the new production of ‘Aladdin’ in light of its historical context and today’s toxic environment for all minority communities.”
Not surprisingly, the Investigative Project report noted that CAIR’s protest “has not garnered much traction.” It added:
“A Seattle Times review described the movie as ‘misconceived’ and said it ‘lacks real magic.’ It briefly mentioned the CAIR complaint, but countered with Disney’s emphasis that ‘its cast is the most ethnically diverse in the company’s history.’ CAIR’s complaint is an odd one, since Muslims do not constitute a race, and represent ethnicities from across the globe. As for claims that the story is rooted in Orientalism, the ‘Arabian Nights’ stories are a Middle Eastern creation that has existed for more than a millennium. ‘Arabian Nights’ stories originate from Persian, Indian, Egyptian, Syrian and Iraqi stories. According to Egyptian actress Lubna Abdel Aziz, television shows based on the ‘Arabian Nights’ often premiered during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan,” the report said.
But according to CAIR, the story “is rather the invention of French orientalist Antoine Galland and made popular in English by Richard Burton who overly sexualized the story to further exotify Arabs and Muslims.”
Further, laments CAIR, a children’s version “has been the source of alienation and trauma for Arab, South Asian and Muslim children.”…..
mortimer says
Now CAIR wants people to laugh at them. We know Islam hates poetry and plays, but this is ridiculous.
“Aladdin and the Magic Lamp” has been one of the best known and most retold of all fairy tales. It has been enjoyed by millions in many different stage and screen productions.
CAIR is attacking the very foundation of Western entertainment in novels, plays and other forms of literature.
CAIR is attacking Western civilization and some leading Western intellectuals should stand up and tell them that we will not submit to Sharia law.
BTW, Sharia law does allow some artistic productions as long as they PROMOTE ISLAM … as in ‘propaganda’ … in other words … ALL artistic productions are required to be propagandistic promotions of Sunnite Islam.
Nuts to that.
mortimer says
The basic lesson that the SUPREMACISTS of CAIR are teaching us is that ISLAM IS SUPREME and no one may speak or express themselves in any way without the permission of the SHARIA LAW POLICE.
How is this different from the slogan … “Submit to Islam, the religion of peace … or we’ll kill you” ???

I read about this in an email from Steven Emerson’s IPT yesterday. The reasonings in that report are sound and the moslim controlled countries have found no problems with this,
cair is just one big trouble-making machine. They have made trouble for Disney before with the creepy girl in the scarf she refused to take off…and refused to work behind the scenes. cair should have been indicted and if not for o what’s his face, they would have been.
revereridesagain says
When the animated original came out in 1992 they demanded the lyrics “Where they cut off your nose if they don’t like your face. It’s barbaric but, hey, it’s home” be cut out. And that was pre-9/11. Now that they’ve resumed murdering us by the thousands again, they’re even more emboldend.
Most of the Disney live action remakes have been awful. If this one managed to annoy the Islamic supremacists, that’s at least one thing in its favor. But then, that was predictable by its very existence.

Of course CAIR hates it. Spoiler alert: for one thing, Jasmine convinces her dad not only to allow her to marry anyone she chooses, but that’s she’s qualifed to become the next Sultan, and she does. Alladin becomes, effectively, the First Man to Madame Sultan. There’s a hadith quoting Muhammad as being opposed to a woman ruler. Second, Alladin and Jasmine KISS before they get married! Astaghfurallah! (Allah have mercy!) And in a CHILDREN’S movie, too! Tsk tsk tsk…
JM says
Not only that, but in the film Jasmine is just too old – practically a grannie! I mean, shouldn’t she be around nine years old?!
Carol the 1st says
Most interesting. You have to wonder who at Disney had either the balls or the lack of knowledge to portray the Islam that isn’t – and were they hoping to accomplish something or just help little girls and boys doze off?
Ravi says
CAIR would have been very happy if Aladdin beat Jasmine ‘lightly’ and had her covered in Burqa through out the movie, showing Aladdin with Jihadi leanings covered in mysterious vest with ‘Allahu Akbar’ chants in each reel and showing Arabia as a land of Milk and Honey free of Jews, Christians, Shias and Alawis. Well of course, Aladdin is racist, because CAIR says so. It is very Islamophobic because CAIR says so. Their word is Gospel…naah a Surah.
Buraq says

That’s not their aim, Their aim is to have the movie banned and so stop anyone else from watching it. Rwmwmber, there is no fun in Islam 🙁

What is Islamophobic about rejecting an ideology that commands its followers to hate disbelievers, and even kill them ‘in the cause of Allah’?
That’s not being phobic about Islam, but realistic! Islam is a criminal cult that is a threat to the national security of any nation foolish enough to allow Muslims to immigrate. Anyone who thinks otherwise is either a fool or complicit in aiding and abetting this pernicious ideology.
CAIR is simply a propaganda arm of Islam, and couldn’t allow a movie like Aladdin to go unchallenged. Their complaint is always “racism and Islamophobia.” There are too many subtle truths in the Tales from the Arabian Nights, which hold a mirror up to Islamic society. People might get the idea that Islam is not the peaceful, empathetic religion it claims to be. Sheherazade only survived by cleverly telling the Sultan stories.
How can CAIR claim that Islam supports freedom of religion and expression, when its holy scriptures state otherwise? (Quran 2:257, 3:19, 3:85, 4:171, 33:36, 48:28, 98:5). And in the Hadith, “Muhammad said: ‘Whoever changes his Islamic religion, then kill him’.” (Bukhari 9:84:57). Islam does not tolerate any other religion or culture.
Western politicians should heed the philosopher Karl Popper’s warning about the paradox of tolerance in his book ‘The Open Society and Its Enemies’: “Unlimited tolerance must lead to the disappearance of tolerance. If we extend unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant, if we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance with them.”
JM says
Excellent post.
We would all do well to remember Karl Popper’s paradox of tolerance, especially as our society is now on the slippey slope…

BECAUSE CAIR condemns the movie is an excellent reason to pay money to go see it. (Will Smith is hilarious as the Genie). That new song “SPEECHLESS” should be adopted by conservatives, all those banned on social media especially for criticism of Islam, Muslim women persecuted in Islamic countries and for all bona fide human rights activists under totalitarian censorship as their “FREE SPEECH ANTHEM.” When Jasmine sings it in the context of the movie plot…it’s mostly a “women’s liberation” thing about why can’t women be Sultans. But the lyrics clearly take a swipe at Sharia Law which seems to have been totally missed by all the leading critics of Islam and promoters of FREE SPEECH. I agree that CAIR hates this song the most. I was banned on Twitter for criticizing the evil ideology of Islam…this is my song.

And, why wouldn’t they try this? After all, they got away with it last year when they shut down an elementary school production of Aladdin. https://www.wbaltv.com/article/school-cancels-production-of-aladdin-jr-for-complaints-of-stereotyping-arab-culture/24086346
I am sorry to tell you they are very proud of this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ppVURHtXmE
CAIR is a phenomenon of our age. Despite them getting on TV as often as 86 times this past March, they show very little good will. As regular as clockwork, CAIR tries to get someone fired or shutdown. This month it is Disney, but they also have it out for Craig Northcott which actually started last month. https://www.facebook.com/CAIRHATEREPORT/videos/2343693169207792/
In fact, this past May, in addition to Craig Northcott, CAIR was after several people, like:
David Heyen in Missouri – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TABgjcZen1s
Jim Lammey, in Tennessee – CAIR Seeks Action Against Tenn. Judge Who Shared Anti-Immigrant, Anti-Muslim Posts
And Bill Larion in Dearborn – https://www.facebook.com/CAIRHATEREPORT/videos/530095067395410/
There never are any stories of CAIR being nice, tolerant, working on bringing people together, reconciliation, or operating openly and honestly. Instead, they are interested in punishment, and payoffs while carving out concessions for their constituency.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXS0VdWwTbk&feature=youtu.be
CAIR also has political ambitions. In December of 2018, CAIR engaged in a massive PR campaign to pressure the State Department, and embarrass the President. CAIR used a dying child as a prop to promote chain migration. This obscene confection reached as far as Europe and Africa. 38 broadcasts about the dying child in a 7 day time period spend out over 14 days for an average of (depending on how you slice that) 3-5 times a day. https://www.facebook.com/CAIRHATEREPORT/videos/337186733623121/
What makes this all the more remarkable is that the media is completely involved in this. They help CAIR harass people, and inject CAIR’s politics into the news. What the relationship between CAIR and the media is exactly is a story still waiting to be told. This much is certain, CAIR is on TV more often than not. Between April and December of last year, a 244 day time period, CAIR was on TV 289 times. There is literally a separate favorable broadcast about CAIR for every day of the year, and then some.
Let people know that you know CAIR is using the media to attack Americans every month. The more widely this is known the sooner it will stop.
Mark Spahn (West Seneca, NY) says

Here we go again. Ramadan is not a holy month. Of the twelve months in the Islamic year, Ramadan is one of the eight months that are *not* holy. What’s with you kafirically ignorant people? Do we need an Islam 101 fatwa?

One of the (many) problems with Islam is that almost EVERYTHING offends Muslims. Perhaps they should have a planet of their own, preferably far away from earth.

Yochanan says
I saw Aladdin last night and enjoyed it greatly. Just a little beneath the surface, it is indeed a powerful parody of Islam, and especially of Jihad. Remember Jaffar, the megalomaniac imposter who tries to usurp the aged Sultan’s throne by stealing the magic lamp from Aladdin? Is he not an obvious symbol of Jihad? And what happens to him? His third and last wish is to have power over the whole universe. It is indeed granted to him but not in the way he expects: he becomes a genie imprisoned in another magic lamp, discarded in a place where no one can find it. What a fitting analogy to the forces unleashed by Islamic Jihad! And it offers a morale: the power of the individual wish should be used for the benefit of others, as Aladdin shows us. To the antisocial forces of CAIR and the other Islamists, Disney and Aladdin are clearly saying: “Go back into your little lamp and get lost”…. Who CAIRs about them anyway? Thank you Disney.
Yochanan says
More thoughts on the ‘hidden’ symbolism of this film: the old sultan represents traditional Islam, Jaffar is the Jihadi/Islamist version and the beautiful Princess represents the hope for the future, married to the good-hearted and socially-aware representative of the people, Aladdin, elevated to the status of Prince. Disney has produced a symbolical masterpiece that is more powerful, and metaphorically more ‘explosive’, than any and every Jihadi bomb attack. One could say that, finally, Hollywood has responded to the Islamist threat to the globe…….
gravenimage says
I doubt most of those at Disney know much about the doctrines of Islam–but they still represent basic Western decency, and this is intuitively opposed to the horrors of Islam.
TheBuffster says
I feel the Streisand effect kicking in – I had no interest in seeing the movie until I read this story, and now I have to see for myself why the movie is such a target for CAIR.
Carol the 1st says
Islam only wants its “supreme” self and not love and individual self-assertion to “conquer all”. This “exotified” film might lead the little ones down a non-designated pathway!! We all love “feel-good” movies so I’m sure the kids will love it despite CAIR lamenting that this children’s version “has been the source of alienation and trauma for Arab, South Asian and Muslim children.”…..It would be interesting to see the proof of that. Most sane people would conclude that if some confusing heartstrings have been pulled then that’s a very excellent sign indeed.
