Todd Green is “associate professor of religion at Luther College and a former advisor on Islamophobia at the U.S. State Department.”
Imagine wasting your life being an expert on “Islamophobia,” a propaganda term coined to intimidate people into thinking it wrong to oppose jihad terror. Here he calls me an “anti-Muslim hate speaker” for opposing jihad terrorist violence and Sharia oppression of women and others. Were foes of the Nazis “anti-German hate speakers”? Todd Green might have thought so. In earlier ages, he would likely have been penning weighty pseudo-academic tomes about how opposing the Nazis makes you a bigot who hates all Germans. He and other “Islamophobia” “experts” make their living slandering and defaming those who oppose jihad terror, which will only have the effect of enabling more jihad terror. How Todd Green can live with himself, as the body count steadily rises, is beyond me.
Anyway, Todd Green is supposed to be an academic, and therefore ostensibly dedicated to intellectual inquiry and to the acceptance or rejection of ideas on their merits. But notice here that he offers not a single shred of evidence to establish that Islam is not “a political system that is authoritarian, supremacist, discriminatory, expansionist, violent, and aggressive.” In Todd Green’s world, he doesn’t have to prove this false. He just has to present it, and his hapless readers will take it as self-evidently false, because it violates their mythology, the propaganda they have been fed for so many years now by the likes of Todd Green.
The only thing remotely resembling an argument this august academic presents is that “it’s quite easy to turn the tables and ask the same question of Christianity.” The only answer to that is “So what?” Green, evidently unaware of basic logic, is here committing the tu-quoque fallacy: pointing to something else and saying it is just as bad, which does nothing to establish the point. Christianity may be the most authoritarian, repressive system ever devised, and that wouldn’t tell us the first thing about Islam.
And of course Green never mentions other facts that torpedo his argument: to take just one example, he notes that the Bible doesn’t condemn slavery outright, but is silent about the fact that the abolition of slavery in Britain and the U.S. was spearheaded by Christian clerics and was based on the Christian idea of the dignity of every human person before God; no similar movement ever arose in Islam, which calls unbelievers “the most vile of created beings” (Qur’an 98:6) and has no problem enslaving them (Muslim countries abolished slavery only under Western pressure, and it still persists in North Africa and Saudi Arabia, even if officially illegal).
This clown is teaching young people. No wonder our colleges and universities are turning out hateful Antifa thugs, as full of self-righteousness as they are of ignorance, by the pound.
“When Christianity is not a religion,” by Todd Green, AltMuslimah, June 18, 2019:
…This framing of Islam as more of a nefarious political ideology than a religion is also a staple in the repertoire of the Islamophobia industry. Anti-Muslim hate speakers such as Robert Spencer insist that Islam is not “just” a religion but “a political system that is authoritarian, supremacist, discriminatory, expansionist, violent, and aggressive.”
The irony behind efforts to question Islam’s status as a religion is that it’s quite easy to turn the tables and ask the same question of Christianity: Is Christianity a religion? Or is it an oppressive political system bent on discrimination and domination, prejudice and persecution?…

Fake news perpetuates fake history, which leaves us all flying blind.
Just look at AOC’s assertion that the ICE internment camps down by the border are equivalent to Nazi concentration camps. While I’m certain that, by virtue of your actions, you’d know everything there is to know about ignoring the message and attacking the messenger, what I wrote is the simple truth. You’ve posted, several times, “God bless Hezbollah”, Hezbollah being a terrorist group whose favourite targets are children. You also said that the children murdered in Nice deserved it. Likewise, you’ve praised and defended the Iranian regime, which routinely persecutes and kills Christians. A fact that you keep denying to this day. Ergo, you’re they’re accomplice.
“The only thing you are right in your comment is my rejection of the feminist fabrication of “marital rape””
So I’m lying but I’m not lying. Got it.

In that case, publicly say the following: “I never wrote ‘God bless Hezbollah’. Iran is a terrorist-sponsoring nation whose hatred of Christians is only dwarfed by its hatred of Jews and I publicly disavow them and their Christian-murdering ways”. Do that, then we’ll talk – and that talk will involve previous posts of yours where you wrote what I mentioned above.
“As a liberal leftist”
Anyone who is minimally acquainted with my posts knows that I’m nothing of the sort.

Nope. Never did such a thing. I simply became such a thorn in your oversensitive hide that you need to silence me. Funny thing: if anything, you’re the one acting like a “liberal leftist”. You know, with your defense of Hezbollah and Iran…
“but when I criticize US and the West for the same stupidity your arse starts to burn! Why is the duplicity?”
Projection, projection, projection. It is actually the other way around – you hop around from article to article rambling about the supposed evils of “the west” without any rhyme or reason (like you did here, don’t try to pretend any of your comments so far addresses the OP) and praising your precious little “holy mother Russia” as being morally superior but, when faced with facts such as the numbers related to drug usage, prostitution, abortion, appeasement to muslims, etc, you go full bats*** crazy.

Without, of course, explaining where or how we’re wrong. As I mentioned, the very site you brought up to try to present Hezbollah as not being a terrorist group (thereligionofpeace.com) no only outright calls Hezbollah a terrorist group but also keeps track of their terrorist attacks – the majority of which waged against innocent civilians. And no, you calling single-aged children or the elderly murdered in those attacks “military personnel” doesn’t actually make them military personnel. Nor do their homes, where they were murdered, turn into barracks or military bases just because you call them “military installations”.

Islam is “a political system that is authoritarian, supremacist, discriminatory, expansionist, violent, and aggressive.”
Walter Sieruk says
Todd Green by making saying or even implying that Islam “Is not a a political system” is actually exposing his own ignorance .
For in reality Islam is, in essence, a religious /political Sharia law based system. As so well explained in brief way, by the Muslim tyrant who and ruled Iran, Ayatollah Khomeini when he stated that “All Islam is politics.” [1]
[1] THE ISLAM IN ISLAMIC TERRORISM by Ibn Warraq , page 332.
Walter Sieruk says
The argument: of Tod Green that the Bible doesn’t condemn slavery outright not taking the entire view of the Bible times into account .For slavery never actually sanctioned by God. The only reason that God did tolerate this practice of having slaves by the children of Israel in the Old Testament was not because it was right or that He approved of it. It was because this practice of having slavery was such an entrenched custom in the ancient Middle East that God allowed it for a limited place and time. This does not mean that this custom, of slavery was to keep on going in other times and places.
Likewise, the same goes also for polygamy. that was not meant to be allowed to continue to other places and times. Polygamy is should be added, which is degrading to women, in still done by many Muslim males in the Islamic world in current times
gravenimage says
This also doesn’t take into account that it was the Christian West that *ended* slavery–it certainly wasn’t Islam, where slavery continues to this day.
Walter Sieruk says
To Gravenimage, yes,you are right .With Islam ,it not only has a long history of slavery but with Islam slavery still ” continues to this day.”
As for information about the subject of Islam and slavery it’s been explained from three well researched books on the topic of Islam that “Slavery is recognized as an institution, and the slave is considered both a thing and a person.” [1] Likewise, it’s also been revealed that “Islam has enslaved more people than any other culture.” [2] Furthermore , yet another scholar has exposed this Islamic violation of human rights by revealing that “the Senior Council of Clerics which is Saudis Arabia’ highest religious body had declared “Slavery is part of Islam and whoever wants it abolished is an infidel.” [3]

Walter, The Brits and Americans in the yonder years stood for their Christian values and opposed almost all evil. It was in this backdrop the famous Churchill’s observation of Islam.
More recently, US played a pivotal role against apartheid. Excerpt:
The Comprehensive Anti-Apartheid Act of 1986[1] was a law enacted by the United States Congress. The law imposed sanctions against South Africa and stated five preconditions for lifting the sanctions that would essentially end the system of apartheid, which the latter was under at the time. Most of the sanctions were repealed in July 1991 after South Africa took steps towards meeting the preconditions of the act, with the final vestiges of the act being repealed in November 1993.
I hope the evil of Sharia too faces the same fate. But I must admit it is everybody’s war not just “far right’s” or “white Christians'”.

Having spent decades in academia I saw by the end of my career (thank God I’m retired) that pseudo-academia was replacing academia at a rapid pace. This rot started in the 1960’s, a tragic decade in American history that accomplished almost no good (exceptions were the space program and civil rights) but a great deal of harm and the effects of this decade are now being felt full throttle in many areas, including education, journalism, politics, religion (think here of the doofus in the Vatican as an example) and with even science now being corrupted (e.g., the environmental hysteria about man-made global warming). A person like Todd Green is just another example of the ill effects the 1960’s began.

Thank you God, for making me the science geek i am today.
If you think immigrants overwhelming other contries is bad now? Wait until we have people leaving their lands because they are no longer able to sustain us. Syria is a good example of “weather” related migration. Many of Syrias problems began with a drought that set the stage for warfare and the advent of ISIS. You can find a slew of documentaries about this on amazon prime.
We have caused horrific changes to our planet, and we can see the signs in our everyday life. But again, this us not the forum to have this type of discussion.

Right, we’ve heard this one before–that Muslims are not invading Western nations, but are just fleeing “climate change” in Dar-al-Islam. (Note that these apologists are never able to say why it is that it is mostly just military-aged Muslim men who are doing this).
Then, there is the inevitable implication that we deserve this invasion because Infidels cause “climate change”. Bad dhimmis…
Never mind that many of the Muslims invading the West come from places that have not had droughts–this distracts from the meme.
Angemon says
“ Many of Syrias problems began with a drought that set the stage for warfare and the advent of ISIS.”
I remember reading something about that – global warming, therefore drought, therefore mass migration to urban areas, therefore civil war. It’s unclear at best and, at worse, pure nonsense meant to take advantage of a humanitarian crisis to further an agenda. Making it about climate minimizes – or outright ignores – the role of political, religious and socio-economic factors on how resilient a community is to to environmental stress. The only link between the drought and migration to urban areas is that they coincided/overlapped in time – and correlation does not imply causation.
Wellington says
Yes, Bob, this is at least tangentially the place for such a debate because falsehood masquerading as truth is very much what JW is about—and it takes many forms. Exculpating Islam is one of them. Asserting that man-made climate change is a fact is another. Yet one more example is contending that socialism is superior to capitalism.
Are you even aware that the United Nations Intercontinental Panel on Climate Change (UNIPCC) report reveals, deeply buried in said report, that there is no hard scientific evidence for man-made climate change? Yes, in that report is the admittance that only computer model projections and correlation studies exist which MIGHT prove that man-made climate change is occurring. But each of these do not constitute scientific evidence and both also have notorious track records for accuracy. For example, computer model projections can’t even backcast temperatures correctly let alone forecast them with accuracy. Or don’t you know this?
And do know that the oceans and seas of the world put out some 190-230 gigatons of CO2 into the atmosphere on an annual basis but mankind, from all his activities, puts out only about 15 gigatons of CO2 yearly—yet mankind is causing catastrophic global warming. Right. And when did CO2 become a poison? This is very recent (last thirty years or so). Hell, CO2 is food for plants and in higher levels of the atmosphere actually acts as a coolant. Or don’t you know this either?
May I suggest you go to a site like Climate Depot and consider what scientists like Fred Singer, Richard Lindzen, Judith Curry, Bjorn Lomborg, Roy Spencer and Patrick Moore have to say about the nonsense which is man-made climate change.
I consider you an ignorant man who doesn’t comprehend he is an ignorant man. Might as well deny evolution as assert that man-made climate change is a terrible reality. Boy, did you tip your hand big time with the rubbish you accept as fact. Oh yeah, big time.
And I’ll leave you with this: Back in the midst of the Paleozoic Era, some 400 million years ago, the Earth went through an horrific ice age, far most extensive than the most recent one which ended with the retreat of the Wisconsin (Wurm) glaciation some 12,000 years ago. Well, and due to ice samples we can scientifically examine, the atmosphere some 400 million years ago had 8-10 times as much CO2 in it as it does now. If CO2 causes global warming, how do you explain this Paleozoic phenomenon?
I’ll put my case plainly to you, Bob. You are an ignorant human being who thinks he is not. Terrible combination. Rather like Muslims thinking they are in possession of the truth when they are not. I hope you get my drift and by all means respond to me—with facts. That is if you are able which I doubt you are because I sense you have not been educated but rather indoctrinated on the matter of man-made climate change. Rather like Muslims on the matter of religion.
Your turn, Bob. Give it a shot.

My guess is that someday, at some point, the liberal elite will make the claim that man-made global warming was all based on a feeling, which is really the standard for the liberal elite in this country. And the liberal elite uses the “feeling” base for transgenderism, homosexuality, Islam, what have you.

Thanks to Daniel Triplett, graveinmage, abad and James Lincoln for their replies. In addition to the site Climate Depot, I would recommend reading the following article in The New American: Top Scientists Slam and Ridicule UNIPCC Climate Report (September 30th 2013).
Highly instructive and in this article scientists I have already mentioned, Richard Lindzen and Judith Curry, are quoted and their assessments are devastating. I would also remind anyone that back in the 1970’s the big climate fear then was global cooling. For instance, the April 28th, 1975 issue of Newsweek had as its cover article “The Cooling World.” It was nonsense then and it’s nonsense now.
gravenimage says
Bob’s claiming that Muslims invading the West is about “climate change” makes no sense. Firstly, these are almost entirely military-aged men–if they were really fleeing a drought, surely this would be entire families–but this is rare.
Then, many of those Muslims invading the West are from places that have not had droughts, like south Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. How does he explain this?
And the idea that ISIS has nothing to do with Islam, but was caused by drought is just absurd. The implication that people respond to drought by setting up and Islamic State, taking sex slaves, and crucifying children who run afoul of Ramadan is grotesque.
And this is more blaming of the victims–Infidels supposedly created “climate change”; ergo, Muslims have the right to invade and murder us.
Even if one is to take the idea of climate change at face value, the above implications make no sense.
Daniel Triplett says

You should add “artificial intelligence” to your list of nonsense. People even take the “Green New Deal” seriously. It is hard to argue against someone whose words have no basis in fact.
In your example, “greenhouse gas” is an oxymoron. Greenhouses allow radiation and inhibit convection. Any gas that inhibits convection is by definition not a gas. It is easy to cite 10 technical facts that show that CO2 does not heat anything, but no one want to go there. For example, CO2 changes by about 30% from summer to winter. If CO2 heated something we would see a hysteresis (snap over center) effect in the spring and fall, but have you ever heard that argued or defended? Every technical person would know all about it.
The same is true in Islam. Killing apostates, gays, and so forth is unique to Islam among the major religions. Green and others don’t want to address this militant behavior. How can any moral person, let alone academic skip over such blatant facts? But today, we see this all the time on many fronts.

9. Okay Todd, ask the question: “Or is it an oppressive political system bent on discrimination and domination, prejudice and persecution?” Uh NO Todd, it’s NOT. Duhhhhhhh!
The historical records prove that Christianity (in its true form) a religion of love and peace, but islam is a religion of terrorism and violence.
True form means not things like some of what happened during the dark ages and similar stunts like that… which is why I am not generous in extending the term ‘Christianity’… ‘liberally.’
Anyway, more typical rhetoric from the same talking heads that are a sad excuse for academics.
They don’t even possess the basic logic to analyze and compare these concepts. But it won’t be the first time in history…

Plenty of willingly blind and deaf fools nowadays, willing to ignore what doesn’t fit their narrative. Recently, Craig Considine (or, as I like to call him, Pope Francis’ number one advisor on islam) released a video on his website stating that muhammad was the world’s first anti-racist. Ignoring how sketchy and ridiculous as that statement is, I commented and asked him about a couple of islamic texts where muhammad refers to Africans as “raisinheads” and tells that muslims have to follow their (islamic) leader even if he is an Ethiopian. Professor Doctor Considine saw fit to have the comments on his website require approval before being posted. Obviously, my comment never saw the light of day – on one moment it was “awaiting moderation” and on the next it was gone. An honest man would have explained why I was wrong. And the man is an University professor – thanks to him, his students don’t get to hear the other side, they’re simply told that they’re right and everyone who disagrees is a bigot. Indoctrination, plain and simple.

This sort of thing is what you’d expect in a cheap and nasty sales promotion as a last-ditch attempt to sell a rotten product. Basically, you throw mud at your competitors by accusing them of your own shortcomings and thereby dragging them down to your own level so that you yourself don’t look so bad in comparison. But it depends on the consumer being ignorant and therefore easily fooled, because as soon you come up against someone who knows what they’re talking about, the game’s up. That would be the point at which the lawyers come on the scene with the defamation actions and then the mud hits the fan. So all we need is a church organisation to take this Green character to the cleaner’s.

Todd Green, “Islamophobia” expert, claims Christianity is “an oppressive political system bent on discrimination”
……………………….
Were this true, then why is it all culturally Christian societies that are the most egalitarian?
And why would this be the case, when Christianity preaches non-discrimination, when Islam is just the opposite?

Leftist “education” is nothing more than social justice activism spewed by Marxist ideologues. The same divisive garbage also controls the vast majority of the Western media and entertainment industries.
As smug and arrogant as they are ignorant.

As you say, Robert, this “clown is teaching young people”. As you mention, he just seems to make idiotic statements without any proof, whereas, you, Robert, always have plenty of evidence and knowledge to back up the points you make. I wonder how this idiot got his job. But, then again, maybe this Luther College is a hopeless, mickey mouse type of college. But then again, he advised the State Dept. Out here in Australia, I enjoy watching a show called “Outsiders” on Sky TV News on Sunday morning. It has three intelligent conservatives, Rowan Dean, Rita Panahi and James Morrow and they have a section they call “Whackademia” where they mention the loony nonsense that some academics have come up with. I’m not sure whether it was there or on another program on Sky TV News, but I want to mention something I heard recently which might interest Jihad Watch. One of the loony academics, a woman named, Dr Juliet Rogers, at some university in Melbourne, actually wrote a paper defending female genital mutilation!!! What the F*ck! So there is no limit to the lunacy of some of these academic nutjobs. Maybe some of them just love being perverse and shocking people. I’ve got to say, to me, this piece of insanity took the prize as the looniest piece of nonsense ever. And there is plenty of competition. I don’t know anything about the woman who wrote the garbage, but I was disgusted when I heard it mentioned, as any sane person would be. There seem to be some people who just so far out there these days.

Christianity has commands and laws for Christians and for those who wish to be Christian. Those Commands and Laws do not apply to those who are not Christian in that people who oppose them are not punished by Christians for not obeying them. And punishments are left to God and His Son Who made the Laws and gave the Commands. They decide who will be punished for disobedience.
Jesus set the Standard…He did not run for office, He said, “My Kingdom is not of this world.” He never tried to force His Commands, His Law of Love, on others, and never killed anyone for not obeying Him. People who aspire to be like Him, follow His example to the best of their ability.
The one time He expressed anger and took a course of discipline was when He drove the money changers…”robbers”… from His “Father’s House.” Any Son is allowed to drive robbers from his Father’s home.
islam has rules and commands for moslims…and everyone else…even those who oppose it with every tool and weapon ever invented. And moslims take it upon themselves to force non believers to abide by the rules and if not, to severely punish the unbeliever even to putting them to death.
A political system…such as every nation has…whether based on a religious book or just a gathering of people who wish to govern themselves…is designed to furnish rules and commands and laws for everyone living within the nation or community. If one does not like the political system, they can endeavor to move to another nation more to their liking. If they cannot move, they must abide by the laws or face punishment.
Any time someone…considered an expert or not…makes an argument such as this green fool has done, it is an automatic fail. To try to absolve one of guilt or responsibility by pointing to a pretend guilt or responsibility of another is a failure to provide evidence of non guilt for whomever that one is trying to absolve. Even if another person is also guilty, it does not absolve the first of his guilt.
A man murders another person and freely admits, even to bragging, about it. Another man is accused of murdering another person, and that one is found to be still alive. But green makes the two equivalent. And then calls others names because they disagree with him.
Steve Meikle says
where one wonders is the evidence that such commands “as love your neighbour as yourself,” “love your enemies”,” turn the other cheek,” “resist not evil” be tenderhearted and forgiving” are the very essence of an oppressive political system bent on discrimination”?
That these commands are the very essence of the gospel of Christ is beyond dispute. Therefore Christianity is not an oppressive system, unless Mr Green can present the evidence asked for.. But if not then Todd Green simply does not know his subject but unblushingly presents this ignorance to the whole world

Todd Green should be forensically audited, because his shtick makes no sense. It’s as Robert Spencer has depicted above in this fine article: “Were foes of the Nazis “anti-German hate speakers”? …. In earlier ages, he would likely have been penning weighty pseudo-academic tomes about how opposing the Nazis makes you a bigot who hates all Germans.”
Most of Islamic scholars agree that ISLAM IS A POLITICAL IDEOLOGY inseparable from the religious component: MOSQUE AND STATE ARE IN FACT ONE IN ISLAM. This is why Islam is not compatible with pluralistic democracy.
Todd Green knows that Islam is not ‘just’ a religion, but a totalitarian ideology.
It is deeply intellectually-dishonest to hide the POLITICAL COMPONENT of Islam that aims for world-dominance under Sharia law.
Todd Green is a toady to the Muslim Brotherhood or wealthy Arab states and should be forensically audited to expose him.
mortimer says
It is impossible for Todd Green to assert Islam is not highly political without academics laughing at him as a true ‘clown’ in academia. Those academics should do more than laugh, they should expose his counterfactual claims and propaganda … that is their academic duty.
The Islamic primary source texts are 51% about politics, manuals of Sharia law are filled with laws regulating the Islamic state. The ‘Reliance of the Traveller’ (manual of sharia) refers 128 times to ‘caliph’ or ‘caliphate’, 12 times to ‘Islamic State’, 3 times to ‘Islamic ruler’, 2 times to ‘supreme leadership’, 2 times to ‘government, 2 times to ‘govern’, 2 times to ‘sultan’ and one to ‘governors’ (of Islamic provinces). Pakistan has a Council of Islamic Ideology to implement Sharia in government. Ayatollah Khomeini said, “Islam is politics or it is nothing!” Samuel P. Schlorff wrote: “Islam is law-oriented, not theology-oriented, and Muslim society is ideological in nature.” Islamist leader Mazin Abdul Adhim said, “We need to understand that this is a struggle between two IDEOLOGIES, not between countries or leaders or religions. It is a (mostly) silent war between secularism and Islam.”
Finally, the Koran spells out that Islam is a political system by using the word “DEEN” (meaning a system of governance).
K.9.33: “He it is Who sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth (deen = a true governmental system), that He might cause it (the DEEN) to prevail … guidance and a true DEEN that will prevail over all other DEENS (governmental systems), even though the pagans may dislike it.”
Todd Green flies in the face of facts without being challenged. Academics have a responsibility to challenge this absurd fraud.
Walter Sieruk says
If Todd Green feels that “Christianity = discrimination” as in “sexism’ so if Green thinks male are viewed higher in Christian doctrine then females he is only further exposing his own ignorance of the Christian New Testament . For example, the New Testament epistle of Galatians in 3:28. instructs ” “There is neither Jew nor Geek, there is neither nor male or female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” [N.K.J.V.]
Likewise this Bible verse refutes racist idea the Jews are not a good a non-Jews” As this verse reveals that all Christians are “one in Christ Jesus.”
It’s actually Islam that is full of misogyny and antisemitism.
