Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

94 Muslim scholars condemn Muslim cleric for saying “Allah” means “God” and Jews and Christians aren’t unbelievers

Jul 7, 2019 1:00 pm By Robert Spencer

Muhammad Tahir ul-Qadri is widely hailed as a “moderate” because of his massive Fatwa on Terrorism and Suicide Bombings, but that jaw-droppingly windy document is just another exercise in deception. In fact, Tahir ul-Qadri is the framer of Pakistan’s inhuman blasphemy laws. But these 94 Muslim scholars from the UK, India and Pakistan are still branding him as a heretic for saying that “Allah” is not a word exclusive to the Muslim deity, but can be used by believers of other faiths, and that Jews and Christians are not actually unbelievers.

What is noteworthy here is the fact that Muslim scholars and spokesmen in the West routinely assert that “Allah” simply means “God” and can be used of the Christian God (as some Arabic-speaking Christians do indeed use it), and that the Qur’an doesn’t consider Jews or Christians to be unbelievers. Yet here are Muslim scholars saying that such beliefs are heretical. Will Muslim spokesmen in the West produce a detailed refutation of this condemnation of Tahir ul-Qadri, explaining how his positions are completely Islamic? Don’t hold your breath.

“Scholars in the UK, India and Pakistan condemn Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri as ‘misguided,'” 5Pillars, July 5, 2019:

More than ninety Muslim scholars from the UK, India and Pakistan have issued an open statement condemning a controversial Pakistani cleric as “misguided”.

The 94 scholars signed the below statement criticising Dr-Tahir-ul-Qadri of Minhaj-ul-Quran for publicly espousing and propagating religious views that allegedly go against mainstream Sunni consensus.

“We, the undersigned, agree:

“Hundreds of leading noble scholars and muftīs of India and Pakistan have refuted, spoken, and issued edicts (Fatāwā) against the clear heresies and severe misguidance of Dr. Tāhir-ul-Qādirī due to his wrong beliefs and unlawful practices. Based upon this they have all declared him misguided….

“In this issue we support these noble scholars and muftīs of India and Pakistan. Furthermore we strongly urge the Ahl-us-Sunnah public to save themselves from the misguided beliefs and actions of Dr. Tāhir-ul-Qādirī.

“A summary of his famously known heresies, in addition to others also, are the following:

  • His opposition of the Ijmā’ of the Ummah on the issue of Diyat* [Speech in Lahore, Pakistan, 16/10/1984 — [https://youtu.be/CDdtQ89I89M]
  • His statement that differences between sects are not fundamental* [Firqah Parastī Kā Khātimah Kyūn Kar Mumkin Ho, page 35]
  • His statement that the word Allāh عزوجل is nothing special to Muslims but it means God, Brahma etc.* [Wembley Conference, London, UK, 24/09/2011 — [https://youtu.be/OKOq1nfSkfM]
  • His statement that Jews and Christians are believers not disbelievers (Kuffār)* [Minhaj-ul-Qur’an Institution, Lahore, Pakistan, 25/12/2006 — [https://youtu.be/m3ka_e2uCsI]
  • Opening of Masājid for Christians to worship therein in accordance to their polytheistic beliefs* [Minhaj-ul-Qur’an Institution, Lahore, Pakistan, 25/12/2005 — [https://youtu.be/ioxS7Q9JKko]
  • His celebration of Christmas and that too in a Masjid* [Minhaj-ul-Qur’an Institution, Lahore, Pakistan, 25/12/2005 — [https://youtu.be/ioxS7Q9JKko]
  • His denial of the overall superiority (Mutlaq Afdaliyyah) of Hadrat Abū Bakr Siddīq رضي الله عنه* [As-Sayf-ul-Jalī ‘Alā Munkiri Wilāyati ‘Alī رضي الله عنه, page 8]
  • His criticism of Hadrat Amīr Mu’āwiyah رضي الله عنه* [Minhaj-ul-Qur’an Workers Convention, Lahore, Pakistan, 08/04/2012 — [https://youtu.be/fhg4nUrdm6c]

“For detailed information regarding these issues, one can directly contact the noble scholars and muftis or the Dār-ul-Iftā Bareilly Sharīf, Jāmi’ah Ashrafiyyah, Dawat-e-Islami or other reputable Sunnī Institutions.”

Talk about the left hand not knowing what the right is doing… Can’t a cleric engage in a little jihad of the tongue without being exposed by a coreligionist?…

How come the others are not aware that their religion commands them to lie and thus simply assume that, like all Muslims (and Muslim scholars no less) he is simply lying to infidels. Better yet, why not give him a call just to make sure? No, instead they choose to very publicly call him out. Almost like they don’t think he is using Taqqiya. Of course that’s impossible but their behavior is a little strange…

…whatever, its taqqiya and that’s it!

“How come the others are not aware that their religion commands them to lie”

How come you know what they are aware of or not? And are you an autist? I’ve heard that autists are unable to understand sarcasm and, instead, take everything literally…

“and thus simply assume that, like all Muslims (and Muslim scholars no less) he is simply lying to infidels.”

Ah, you’re one of those bigots. Got it.

Of course, lebel is pretending–as he has done before–that Taqiyya is universal.

But this is quite false–Taqiyya is a *tactic*. It is employed by Muslims when they find it useful, which is not at all times. And one of the few areas where Muslims may differ is on when using Taqiyya is warranted and when it is not.

Of course, lebel knows this–he just hopes we do not.

lebel thinks that taqiyya is funny … we don’t. Islam cannot defend itself in debate, so Muslims resort to emotional innuendo and outright dissembling.

Even though lebel tries to paint a happy face on Islam’s canonical teaching of lying, it is what he is here to do. Why does he defend a delusion that claims the sun sets in a muddy pool? Koran 18.86 said it did! Mohammed confirmed that sun sets in a spring of warm water (Sunan Abu Dawud 4002). He cannot defend the anti-scientific blunders in the Koran. No one can. Only a 7th-century, pre-scientific mind would accept them.

lebel, you are intellectually dishonest to remain in a cult of death and rape (K.4.23-4) and then pretend to us that nothing about it is imperfect. Your life’s work defending delusion is absurd. How much you are to be pitied, lebel. What you are doing qualifies you to be called ‘le villain’.

How useless it is for you to try to convince people who have read Islam’s source texts. Your efforts here backfire on you, because we expose your tricks.

lebel, you couldn’t last a minute in a debate with master-Islamologist Robert Spencer.

lebel, I hope you keep trying to find a valid argument with which to defend Islam, because the very search for one will convince you that we are decent, honorable people who wish you well. Stay with us and sooner or later, you will see we are right about many things, you will look up the references, and the Islamic texts will convince you that it is mountain of error and contradiction. Such a mountain of absurdity cannot be divine. Then, you have a king-size depression and you will stop believing all that repellent, opportunistic absurdity.

They left out a couple of letters in their proclamation. When writing that they are “noble,” they left off the **ig.** In both places.

Their ‘god’ is satan. The One True God is “higher than their ways and higher than their thoughts.”
So, in the end, it doesn’t really matter what any of them say or claim about Christians and Jews and their “beliefs.”

  5. mortimer says

    Jul 7, 2019 at 9:42 pm

This attempted revision of Islam will fail because they cannot change Islam’s primary source texts, nor can they change the CANONICAL COMMENTARIES that codify what those source texts mean since 1111 AD.

Since it is impossible to change the source texts and the canonical commentaries, Islam cannot be reformed.

If they don’t like Islam that way it was, they have the option of leaving it. I believe that is EXACTLY what many of the ‘reformers’ will actually do. They will see that reforming Islam is impossible, since previous mullahs and ayatollahs have painted Islam into the corner.

This is an example of where another heretical cult we are more aware of has actually got something right.
‘God’ is a title, it is not a name. The Jehovah’s Witnesses, although using a made up name for the tetragrammaton, have drawn our attention to the fact that ‘God’ in the Old Testament has revealed his name to us. In 4 letters from the Hebrew alphabet, (no vowels in Hebrew) YHWH. (Yod hay vav hay)
No where is the God of Islam referred to as YHWH. He simply does not have that name. It is reserved for the genuine Almighty God alone.
In fact among the 99 names, really descriptions of Allah, not one of them is ‘Love’. Allah only loves the Muslim and does not love the non-Muslims. YHWH loves everyone.
This is understandable. The YHWH of the Bible is a triune God thus he can give and receive love within his own triune nature. Love needs an object to love. Since the Muslim Allah only loves Muslims and not unbelievers, this is an example of why he needs someone to love him first (The Muslim) before he can reciprocate that love.
Were Christians to make the distinction between the title, ‘Allah’ and the name, YHWH, there would be no confusion. It fact if the nature of the 2 deities is compared, it become completely clear that they cannot be the same deity. What makes them who they are is so different, no Christian, or even non-Muslim should fall for the trick saying that since Jews and Christians call their God, ‘God’, they must be the same Being. Nothing is further from the truth.

Allah is known for possible “conditional” love if you act like a bloodthirsty bigot (no guarantees however). Muslims fail to glimpse the joke.

“For detailed information regarding these issues, one can directly contact the noble scholars and muftis or the Dār-ul-Iftā Bareilly Sharīf,…..” (etc., etc, ad nauseam)

What’s all this ‘noble scholars’ business? Since when was there anything even remotely ‘noble’ about anything to do with islam or its scurrilous founder? Like all those clerics and imams who ‘nobly’ emulate their ‘noble’ prophet by instructing their feral flocks that Unbelievers are pigs and abuse them in any way their tiny criminal minds think fit? And what level of serious scholarship is required to evaluate the load of transparently and incoherently plagiarised pseudo-religious ragbag of spurious verbiage that supposed to form islam’s ‘holy writ’? The same as that of the founding ‘Prophet’, who apparently couldn’t even get any ideas together properly in the first place let alone read or write them? No wonder they squabble amongst themselves like a gaggle of semi-literate High School students, because that’s just about the level that this ‘religion’ operates at. You might as well ask the GCSE science class at the local Comprehensive School to write a paper on Astrophysics; they probably wouldn’t know which end of the telescope to look through!

So long as they believe each other, that’s all that should count. If weary infidels tire and become angry it will only prove we had lurking hatred and deserve a violent hand (unless of course we can spare Allah a dime).

Malaysia’s highest court backs a ban on Allah in Christian bibles

Muslim activists celebrate as judges reject Catholic church’s argument that Arabic word has been used for centuries in Malay-language literature to refer to the Christian God

Malaysia’s highest court on Monday dismissed an attempt by Christians for the right to use the word Allah, ending along legal battle that has escalated religious tensions in the country.

The case, in which the Catholic church challenged a government ban on its use of the Arabic word to refer to God, came amid concern from minority religious groups who feel that their rights are under threat from rising Islamisation.

  12. Gulamshabir Arif says

    Aug 3, 2019 at 6:20 am

scholars originating from the Indo-Pak subcontinent presented eight objections. The below is a refutation of the decontextualised and inadequate points raised as allegations:
    1. The first argument is on the consensus of the Muslim scholars that blood money (diya) value is half that for a woman then is of a man. Dr Tahir ul Qadri successfully argued in a Pakistani court of law, which requires a considerable burden with proof, that there should be equality in the value of blood money. To this effect I would like to state that there is no definitive text in the Qur’an and Hadith to state the value of blood money, and is thus open to interpretation. Consequently it is permissible for a jurist like Dr Tahir ul Qadri to opine on this matter.
    2. The second argument presented by critics is that Dr Qadri stated in one of his works that sectarianism is not a fundamental belief. This argument is a non-brainer. Islam has not made sectarianism a core belief like the five pillars or the articles of faith (belief in angels, books, Prophethood, Judgment Day, and Divine Destiny). Although Islam has acknowledging sectarianism as a reality of life, it has in fact discouraged it. It appears however that some Indo-Pak scholars are trying to portray sectarianism which the Holy Prophet made us aware of, as a core belief and attitude. By doing so they position themselves as the ‘saviours’ of true beliefs. It is thus no surprise they would condemn anybody who threatens their position.
    3. The third criticism presented is to do with the Wembley Conference in 2011 which was attended by 12,000 people. In this conference, Dr Tahir ul Qadri was explaining the meaning of the word ‘Allah’ to Christian, Jewish, Hindu and Buddhist faith representatives. In essence he stated that Allah is the Arabic word for the divine, just as Christians refer to the divine as God and Father; Hindus refer to divine as Om and Krishna; Buddhists refer to divine as Buddha. Critics were quick to misconstrue this and make accusations of disbelief. Nevertheless a major concern for those scholars ascribe to this accusation is that the pagan Arabs, prior to the advent of Islam, believed that the idols were daughters of Allah (Quran 53:19-21). It is clear that Islam did not introduce the word Allah and this was in fact a word used by idolaters in the pre-Islamic era.
    4. Whilst speaking at a university to a non-Muslim majority audience, he explained that the Qur’an differentiates the between monotheistic religions and polytheistic religions. He elaborated that monotheistic religions of Christianity and Judaism described in the Qur’an as Ahl al-Kitab, and Islam, are termed as believers in the oneness of God. Whereas polytheists are termed as Mushrikeen. Critics misconstrued this point and absurdly claimed that he used “believers” in the context of Mu’min, a term that is used for practicing Muslims.
    5. Dr Qadri invited Christians to visit the mosque and they prayed according to their own beliefs. The critics state the Christians of today are polytheist whereas they were monotheist at the time of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). This is wholly incorrect. The Christians of Najran who came to visit the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) came to debate him on the matter of divinity (Quran 3:61-64) for this is the main point of contention between Islam and Christianity. During the discussion, the Christians of Najran stayed in the Prophets mosque and were also permitted to pray therein. Had the latter been prohibited then the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) could have arranged for them to pray outside of his mosque.
    6. The sixth criticism is to do with the sharia perspective of celebrating the birth of Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him). It is permissible to celebrate this occasion which is otherwise known as Christmas in the Anglo-Christian culture. If Islam permits us to celebrate the days of prophets, the companions, awliya Allah, the shuhada; then why should we shy away from celebrating Prophet Jesus’ birthday when we have our own convictions and beliefs in relation to him? This matter has been misconstrued as an imitation of Christians, when in fact the Qur’an has gone into a lot of detail on his miraculous birth, which alone is sufficient for us to celebrate it. If we were to celebrate Christmas with Christians, whilst upholding our own religious parameters and convictions, then it is not a problem in sharia nor is there any such prohibition. If certain people find this distasteful this is not a ground upon which to declare somebody misguided, as it would require a sound juristic reasoning to do so. A detailed analysis on this matter is presented here http://islamoncampus.blogspot.com/…/can-muslims…
    7. The seventh accusation against Dr Qadri is that he denied the overall superiority of Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (ra) over Ali ibn Abi Talib (ra). The point he makes in his book The Ghadir Declaration is that Ali ibn Abi Talib (ra) was given vicegerency in spirituality when the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) gave him the title of ‘Maula’. The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) stated “I am the house of wisdom and Ali is its door” (Tirmidhi 49:4089). Almost all Sufi orders trace back to Ali ibn Abi Talib (ra). He did not downplay the status of Abu Bakr al-Siddīq (ra). Nevertheless, each companion has own strengths and superiorities. Who is more superior is not something which is explicitly mentioned in the Qur’an and Hadith, and so it is open to interpretation. It is an abomination that some Muslims are pitching companions of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) against each other as if it is some sort of competition. The matter is exaggerated and to call somebody misguided over it is reprehensible.
    8. The final allegation is that Dr Qadri criticised Muawiya ibn Abi Sufyan (ra). This is a falsification of facts and dishonesty. Dr Qadri had simply stated the Sunni position on the matter which is to maintain silence on him. Historically, Muawiya ibn Abi Sufyan (ra) opposed the Rightly Guided Caliph Ali ibn Abi Talib (ra) and set up his own Ummayad empire. This formed the first political division of the ummah. Since it is not permitted to criticise any companion of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him), that which Muawiya ibn Abi Sufyan (ra) was, the traditional Sunni position is to neither praise him nor criticise him.
To conclude I would like to state that Dr Qadri has numerous ijazahs and has learned from luminaries of his time. He is an expert on every area of Islamic subjects and has some 550 published works to his name and delivered countless lectures. His influence spans from east to west. He has thus been given the title of ‘Shaykh-ul-Islam’ from his contemporaries. If one was to compile a list of scholars who support him it would outweigh those who supported the condemnation. Time and time again we see throughout history those individuals who criticised great scholastic giants of their era but could not produce an iota themselves are remembered as nothing in the books of history except as an embarrassment for Islam. It is those who truly serve the ummah, as Dr Qadri does, who’s contributions are adhered to for years to come.
