The Jerusalem Post ran the article: B’nai Brith Canada Slams Church For Assisting Event Honoring PFLP Terrorist. The article quoted one critic of the event saying that “churches should be places of peace, not places where violence and/or terror are glorified.” Jihad Watch picked up the story: “Church provides space for event honoring “Palestinian” terrorist responsible for jihad massacre.” Robert Spencer noted:
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine is ostensibly a Communist organization, but it is wholly aligned with the jihad force. Ghassan Kanafani was responsible for the murder of 17 Christians, as well as eight Israelis, but that doesn’t matter to the Trinity-St. Paul’s United Church. Being woke is ultimately a suicidal act, but at least the members of Trinity-St. Paul’s can congratulate themselves that they were never “racist” when their own time comes and their jihadi friends turn on them.
Justifiable outrage followed the church’s partnership with the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM).
According to PYM’s Facebook invitation, the event will “be an evening of spoken word, music, and food to celebrate the artistic and cultural contributions of Palestinians in the diaspora and showcase the winners of the Ghassan Kanafani Resistance Arts Scholarship in this years anthology entitled ‘We feel a country in our bones.’”
Facing stinging criticism, the Church canceled its partnership with the PYM. B’nai Brith reported: “We are relieved that the Church eventually came to the correct decision, to help prevent the shameful glorification of a terrorist.”
Then there came to my attention a reaction to this entire turn of events: someone who knows the minister at Toronto’s Trinity-St. Paul’s United Church was shocked that all this had happened because the minister is such a “nice” person. She probably is, but she was willing to ally herself with a cause that supports jihad terror, and an event that glorifies a well-known and well celebrated jihad terrorist.
Let’s pause for a moment and ponder the fact that many “nice” Westerners are complicit in the global jihad. Without these “nice” people’s collective efforts, the jihad would be stymied in the West. It is necessary to focus on the threat jihadists pose (stealth and violent), but we need to pay attention to those Westerners whose backs jihadists are riding on in their efforts to deceive and subvert the West.
I went to the Trinity-St. Paul’s United Church website. The church describes itself as “A community of faith, justice and the arts,” but when it partners with a jihad-driven cause responsible for the murders of innocent Israelis — including 13-year-old Hallel Yaffa Ariel, who was stabbed to death as she slept in her bed, and 19-year-old Ori Ansbacher, whose murder was so gruesome that there was a virtual media blackout on it — how could such a church honestly describe itself using such terms as “faith” and “justice”? “Ghassan Kanafani was responsible for the murder of 17 Christians, as well as eight Israelis.” Palestinian jihad murderers are deemed to be “holy” martyrs, and their families are paid cash to wage their jihad.
The minister of Trinity-St. Paul’s United Church is the Rev. Dr. Cheri DiNovo, who is also host of the Radical Reverend Radioshow. Before arriving at Trinity-St. Paul’s United Church, DiNovo was a member of the Ontario Provincial Parliament. “In her 11 years at Queen’s Park, Cheri passed more Private Member’s Bills than any other MPP in Ontario’s record,” and she also has “passed more pro-LGBTQ legislation than anyone in Canadian history.” Also: “Prior to her election, she performed the first legalized same-sex marriage in North America.”
Gays are regularly murdered in sharia states, in the cruelest of ways. This fact also somehow got missed by DiNovo and other “nice” Western supporters of the Palestinian “movement,” which is driven by jihad. B’nai Brith noted:
“That being said, this story is not over. We will continue to investigate how a youth scholarship named after a notorious terrorist is permitted to function in Canada and the United States, and take all possible steps to thwart it.”
For any Christian Church, given a mandate of love and peace, to support a cause driven by jihad terror is beyond the pale, and for any so-called defender of “human rights” to do the same is reprehensible. Lack of vital knowledge about the Palestinian jihadi agenda, when information is so abundantly and readily available, is no excuse. All Western authorities and citizens need to be investigating how any jihadist and jihad-linked group is allowed to be functioning in Canada and the United States. For starters: the “Islamophobia” battering ram serves to protect the jihad as it promotes its victimology propaganda that manipulates “nice” leftists and strikes terror into the heart of disbelievers.
“Toronto Church Cancels Event Honouring Terrorist”, B’nai Brith Canada, July 7, 2019:
TORONTO – A Toronto church has cancelled a previously scheduled event that would have honoured a Palestinian terrorist, following a campaign by B’nai Brith Canada.
On July 13, Trinity-St. Paul’s United Church was set to provide space for the “Ghassan Kanafani Resistance Arts Scholarship Launch,” organized by the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM). Kanafani was a leading member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a designated terrorist entity in Canada, and helped to organize a 1972 attack on Israel’s main airport that left 26 civilians dead.
On Friday, B’nai Brith called on Canadians to condemn the Church’s refusal to call off the event, and circulated a petition to that effect.
Late on Friday night, B’nai Brith received a letter from the Board of Trinity-St. Paul’s United Church, revealing that “The Board has elected to cancel the event.”….

We Catholics have a hand full of perverts, but these protestant faiths seem to be majority-anti-Christian. A “priest” who is a “gay pride” supporter! Pride is a sin, acting out your gayness is a sin and a Christian who is proud of sinning is not a Christian. Not sure what is so difficult about this. Just open another club and invent your own titles.

Anyone who supports the killing of Christians and or Jews including children isn’t a Christian. To support the group that does that is not a Christian belief, just to be cool or support the PC agenda of the current culture and Islamic radicals is not Christian.
Ultimately it makes no sense for a Christian to support or celebrate a group that kills other Christians.
It also makes no sense for gay people to support a group that kills other gay people. It’s stupidly masquerading as political correctness.

Oh, yes, we have one or two of those “nice” female ministers here in my town, Unitarian, lesbian, “woke” as hell “Social Justice Warriors”. Always happy to ally themselves with any hijabed ambassador of a CAIR affiliate or similar organization. “Stinging criticism” of events in support of the hijra and other strategies of the civilizational jihad is reliably categorized as “racist” and “Islamophobic” and generally otherwise ignored by our complacently “woke” population. I wish there was a B’nai B’rith organization here in northeastern Marxachusetts with the moral compass of the one in Toronto.
By the way, designating “pride” as a “sin” when there is something to justifiably be proud of is one of the secondary reasons I do not admire most religious mythology. On the other hand, being “proud” when there is no accomplishment or demonstrable virtue involved tends to smack of narcissism, vanity, hubris and other less than admirable human characteristics.

I was thinking the same thing. I’m always glad when there is some sign of people being fed up with the moronic fools who want to pander to Islam. It’s not much, but maybe it shows some sign of average people, with some common sense and who are in touch with reality, fighting back. I wish everyone would wake up to the evil of Islam and force all these fools, who always seem to want to cave in to barbaric islam, to stop their stupidity. As you say, it is a tiny victory, but worth celebrating as a small win and a sign that, maybe, at last, (and about bloody time I keep thinking) people are waking up.

This is why I cannot support “progressive Christianity”. Note that the LGBTQWERTY supporters, female clergy, and professional agonized consciences are also quick to support the most retrograde jihadis. These people take terms like “Jesus” and “justice” as undefined banners and pour every imagineable and inaccurate meaning they can into them.

It’s a sad thing when people have to be pressured into doing the right thing. The church gave to the pressure not to hold the celebration of terror and terrorists. The sad thing is they should have recognized it was wrong in the first place and had to be pressured into canceling.

You are so correct, Christine, if it were not for these self-described “nice” people, then there would not be so many cruel savage jihadists killing Christians, Jews, and people of every description who are not “nice” according to jihadists because they do not share with the savage jihadist beasts their religious zeal to kill infidels and non-believers.
I keep asking myself how “nice” people in such a “churche” can be so naïve and so much in love with terrorists and the violence/terrorism they bring to the world, but I have come up short of one single logical satisfying answer.
They do not hate themselves as some say (some call them self-haters) as they love their own individual selves and the groups to which they belong who share their idiosyncratic beliefs and unusual predilections. They love the groups they have identified as their own – and the numbers of these groups grow by leaps and bounds.
Could it be that they hate Western society in general and see their alliances with cruel savages the best way to express their hate for the Western way of life? It is very hard to understand why people in Toronto who enjoy one of the best social systems in the world in the most advanced and free city in the world would turn on its own population by dancing with terrorists, celebrating their Jew hate and rewarding the carnage they bring to the world.
Maybe it does come down to hating Jews and Christians and expressing that hate using terrorists because they lack the courage to murder using their own hands – so they shower terrorists with honor and praise, rewrite history and distort truth on their behalf; offering them an entire “narrative’ in propaganda and raising them to such high status that the commandment “Thou shalt not kill” is transformed by these “nice” people into: “Thou shalt kill the enemy of we “progressives.”

The United Church is getting stranger and stranger. In the east part of Toronto (west hill I think) there is a United Church with a minister who openly states she is an atheist. So nothing from this church surprises me. But pleased they cancelled this event, although it is disturbing that they actually planned it in the first place.
gravenimage says
This is no fringe denomination as some here may believe–The United Church of Canada is the largest Protestant Christian denomination in Canada and the second largest Canadian Christian denomination after the Catholic Church.
It was formed in 1925 as a merger of the Methodist Church, Canada, the Congregational Union of Ontario and Quebec, two-thirds of the congregations of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, and several smaller denominations (I’m not sure how this worked doctrinally, either).
Kepha says
If the Canadians are anything like us rebellious colonials, the UCC got over the doctrinal problems by simply jettisoning every doctrine written before 1955. @Older Canadian: We down here can do one better.
The lady who serves as president of Union Theological Seminary–the one funded and established by John D Rockefeller himself–is also a so-called “atheist” (just a disbeliever in the Christian God, since she apparently worships every idol set up since the 1960’s). You see, there are no atheists in foxholes, for they’ve all gone into the Mainline Protestant ministry (and are knocking at the doors of our Evangelical institutions as well).

UNCLE VLADDI says
HERE’S WHY LIBERAL RACISTS DEFEND MUSLIM CRIMES:
Without bothering to investigate it, liberals always deny islam could ever be a threat because muslims are brown people who can never be a threat to white people because, to racist liberals, they’re always presumed to be mentally inferior to all whites.
So there’s never any need to investigate islam, because it’s just some sort of a silly and ultimately harmless brown-person’s superstition, to which they’re racially entitled. There’s no way it could ever be a threat to whites, nor could it have inspired Nazis.
Only whites, by dint of their superior intelligence, can be evil racists who are always the main threat to the inferior browns.
To racist and mentally delinquent liberal criminals, only whites can be held to be guilty of any crimes, because crimes require mens-rea guilty mind criminal intent, which no black or brown mentally inferior muslim can ever have the mental capacity to be.
Further, all whites are Christians, so Christianity is oppressive; and all blacks are muslims, and so are naturally the victims of all the evil white Christians.
These are the most shallow, visceral feelings of all hateful liberal racists, which mere facts will never affect, because these feelings are so self-evident that there’s never any reason to consider that most Christians today are black Africans, not smug and plump white Europeans in business suits – nor that muslims come in all races and colours, too; nor that Arabs are whites. And there’s no way Muhammad was “the Whitest of men” who owned black slaves.
Because if and once they dare to admit otherwise, they might have to risk them selves to do something about it.
gravenimage says
Yes–this is how many Leftists think.
Tom says
With fools like the reverend Cheri DiNovo to blindly allow terrorist supporting groups, like the Palestinian Youth Movement, to manipulate them into using a Christian church as the place for an event honouring a murderer and Islamic jihadist, it is no wonder the Islamists and especially the Muslim Brotherhood have become so emboldened.
We must elect politicians who will see these groups for what they are, subversive and divisive, and openly call for their banning in Canada.
Our society and culture are being destroyed from within by fools, communists and Islamists, and it must stop.
Putting an end to the appeasement of such destructive forces in Canada begins in October with the purging of Trudeau and his terrorist supporting Liberal party.
Kepha says
@Tom: If you’re a Canadian, be assured you have a few sympathizers south of the Great Lakes. I have a FB friend up in the Prairie Provinces who’s always railing on Trump (and, I admit the Donald was not my first choice), but also seems to be very anti-Trudeau. Hence, on his last anti-Trump post, I gently pointed up that had he been born in North Dakota or Montana instead of Manitoba or Saskatchewan, he would probably have voted for the Orange Guy, too.
Tom says
Kepha many Canadians, especially in the cities of Vancouver, Victoria, Edmonton etc are left leaning and have a real hate on for Trump mainly because they see him as a threat to the expansion of the globalist and feminist agenda’s.
He has been vilified in our main stream media and as a result anything he does is amplified out of context.
We are suffering the Trudeau government as a direct result of the left wing, but many of my fellow Canadians are awakening to the damage Trudeau’s Liberal agenda is causing them personally and to the international reputation of great country.
October will tell if enough are awake to remove Trudeau from office. If not, you may just get a couple of new states.
Kepha says
Speaking seriously as a former officer of the US State Department, back when I was in Bangkok, I was taking with some counterparts from your embassy–and they were a couple of guys from the Prairie Provinces. They facetiously asked how we’d treat Canadian asylum seekers, and if we had anyone considering what to do if Canada breaks up.
I told them we probably did have someone working on that possibility, and I was sure that after work he stopped in the woods on the way home to scream at trees for half an hour. Seriously, the break-up of either Canada or Mexico is one of America’s national nightmares, because who’d be the next domino?
My guess is that if Canada were on the verge of a break-up, you’d see our president and half of our State Department visiting, getting on their knees while sweating bullets, and pleading with our neighbors to try to work something out with each other.
Frankly, I think even the most conservative Yanks would hesitate if, say, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba came knocking (I understand they can be pretty conservative out there). We’ve grown pretty comfortable with that long, basically untroubled border after learning a lesson in 1815. I’m old enough to remember vacations in Canada where, if it was busy, Customs on both sides would tell us “Keep it moving” once satisfied the travellers were either US or Canadian nationals. We don’t dislike Canadians, for sure, and we’ve taken a lot of immigrants from your country (and I’m sure you have your share of ours, even excluding our Viet Nam War-era Leftists); but the break-up of Canada, even involving a portion wanting to join a more conservative USA, is not something we like to contemplate.
If you’re ever visiting this way, I know a few decent Chinese eateries in our area.
Herman says
