“France, still run by embattled globalist president Emmanuel Macron, is debating a draconian new law that would impose massive fines on social media and search engine companies if they fail to take down ‘hate speech’ within 24 hours.”
The Leftist-Islamic supremacist alliance has long been established in the West and has been steadily aiding the demise of democracies, much as we see evident in this new proposed fascist law.
“Company officials at Facebook and other social media platforms could face up to a year in prison in France if they fail to remove so-called hate speech” and “the companies themselves could face fines of up to 4 percent of their global revenues….for repeated violations.”
The “Islamophobia” brigade has steadily conditioned Westerners to slowly relinquish its strongest defense: free speech. As a result, any fascist regime — Islamofascist and otherwise — can take aim at vulnerable democracies like France under its globalist leader Emmanuel Macron.
“Bokhari: France Is on a Mission to Kill Free Speech Online”, by Allum Bokhari, Breitbart, July 8, 2019:
France, still run by embattled globalist president Emmanuel Macron, is debating a draconian new law that would impose massive fines on social media and search engine companies if they fail to take down “hate speech” within 24 hours.
Company officials at Facebook and other social media platforms could face up to a year in prison in France if they fail to remove so-called hate speech under the proposed law. The companies themselves could face fines of up to 4 percent of their global revenues — a colossal sum — for repeated violations.
Individual users who abuse the “report” function on social media platforms could also face fines and jail time.
Via NYT:
If platforms refuse to remove such content, they could face fines of 1.25 million euros, or about $1.4 million. Company officials could face a year in prison and fines of up to €250,000.
Repeated violations could prompt France’s media watchdog to impose fines of up to 4 percent of the company’s global revenue — meaning, potentially, tens or even hundreds of millions of dollars.
The bill also creates penalties — a €15,000 fine and up to a year in prison — for individuals who abuse reporting mechanisms.
France is following the lead of Germany in this regard. The pro-censorship, pro-mass migrant regime of Angela Merkel passed a law last year imposing fines of 50 million euros ($62 million) on companies that fail to remove hate speech within 24 hours. It’s another sign that western governments are increasingly behaving like China, where the government leans on private corporations to enact censorship and protect the ruling regime.
Writing on The Hill, law professor Jonathan Turley notes that these European laws could accelerate social media censorship in the United States:
The move by the Europeans hits in the blind spot of the United States Constitution. The First Amendment does an excellent job of preventing government action against free speech, and most of the laws curtailing free speech in Europe would be unconstitutional in the United States. However, although protected against Big Brother, we are left completely vulnerable to Little Brother, made up of the private companies that have wide discretion on curtailing and controlling speech around the world.
Europeans know these companies are quite unlikely to surgically remove content for individual countries. The effect will be similar to the “California Exception.” All states are subject to uniform vehicle emissions standards under the Clean Air Act, but California was given an exception to establish more stringent standards. Rather than create special cars for California, the more stringent standards tend to drive car designs. When it comes to speech controls, Europeans know they can limit speech not only in their countries but practically limit speech in the United States and elsewhere….

The problem lies in underlying thoughts. These must be ripped right out of these serf skulls, surgically, chemically, through electronic discharge or by application of a police baton. The effrontery of these Gutter Snipes! THIS STOPS NOW!! Loose the dogs!

Jake, what are you talking about? If you are being sarcastic, your irony is not clearly expressed. Macron’s authoritarianism is unfortunately supported by many of the ‘Bo-bo’s of France … the bourgeois self-styled bohemians who believe they are the bien-pensants. The Bo-bo’s are the problem and Macron is their guy. The Bo-bo’s couldn’t care less about the working class.
Lydia Church says
Ah… now I do see the problem. It is with interpreting sarcasm, irony, and more subtle forms of communication. I will make a note of it for the future.

Macron won because his adversary was even worse…, Marine Le Pen a far right woman daughter of a horrible manJean-Marie Le Pen, founder of her party, who has been so anti-semitic over the years even denying the Holocaust.
When Macron first went to Parliament he referred himself as Jupiter !!! Macron was disgusting at the 100th year anniversary of WW2, saying we should get a European army to defend ourselves against Russia China and the USA. A REAL POS. He thought stupidly he could persuade Donald Trump to agree with him on climate change. Lol lol.

Yes. Mortimer, Jake is being sarcastic.

Well, I guess I don’t have to put MY two cents in, but I will anyway..lol. I laughed to myself, and said to myself “Good one” when I read Jakes’ comment! And then mortimer ruined it. It’s ok mortimer, sometimes we just don’t recognize sarcasm and “being funny”. We’ll forgive ya!
I thought it was hilarious Jake! But also, it should really happen that way!

Macron is attacking the foundation of the French Republic … free speech …
Art. 11: The free communication of thoughts and opinions is one of the MOST PRECIOUS OF HUMAN RIGHTS.
Diane Harvey says
France is a signatory to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948) which similarly protects free speech and expression.
Ha!

Given the rebellious spirit of the French, I would be surprise if this law is adopted.

Lawyer Jonathan Turley (one of the more fair-minded liberals out there) also lays it on the line about the “blind spot” in our Constitution.

Yet there is no “blind spot”. These company only have the DMCA safe harbor if they enforce the same rules (they call them “community standards”) on everyone. The rules have to be clear, but they are not. Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and others are clearly outside of the public square allowed by the DMCA, and are open to copyright attacks, since they openly police content to fit their opinion or whim. If these copyright violations are allowed to proceed, they would bankrupt these companies.
In addition, it is very easy to tag the content. The ISPs in totalitarian countries such as Germany, France, and China could easily block the content. The database of the Internet company could also censor content into those companies. That would be easy.

What is good for the goose…… it needs people to monitor very closely all the islamist sites. Use arabic speakers to watch and translate. The islamists are subject to the same laws as French people. (I said that on purpose, because I don’t think traitors should be counted as citizens).
carolyne says
Hey Macron, if the French allow you to grind them under your heel by censoring free speech while a!lowing Islam to complete its takeover of France, they are dumber than you are. Is that hate speech? Is that common sense? Once you decide, arrest me. Open up the Bastille. You’re going to need it.

actually, there doesn’t *need* to be a “california exception” (or rather, an american “exception”), since there are plenty of rich groups of nazis like CAIR and the SPLC in the u.s. that have essentially unlimited funds to smear anybody, forcing them to shut up or face losing their job, their home, their friends, and potentially, some of the family members. it’s lawfare we must face now, but soon enough, the nazis will impose a people’s republic.

Oh, but did Germany’s? If satan has his way…
Which France is part of the list I have, of the 19 countries, where the 19 leaders, under satan’s influence of course, let in millions of “them”, without KNOWING or CARING, what they believe in! How is THAT even possible?? All of a sudden, at one time, 19 leaders open their arms and borders to MILLIONS! I can see one or two, but 19? And think about this for a moment if you will, did they all come to these countries, to make a better life, or their coming from a “war-torn” country? Why were there just pictures of 98% men?? YOUNG men at that! And why, did they come to these NON muslim countries, who are “white, mostly christian”, when MOST of them, read the koran, and HATE infidels?? You don’t come to a country, where you hate everything about that country, but mostly it’s people!!
This is satan’s influence. I could tell you his reason, and his plan, but it has to do with bible prophecy, and you may not be into that.
So, you wanna make a bet, it’ll pass? Put’em up!
Lavéritétriomphera says
@joanofark06,
Salutations,
The legal arsenal already exists, but it is difficult to set up because of the law on freedom of speech and expression. However the law on blasphemy only serves the extremists and must not be restored. Therefore Macron said he will not compromise on law designed to maintain France’s tradition of strict separation of state and religion. We hope he will keep his word. If not, he will certainly have to deal with consequences.
In answer to your question, I believe there are laws that govern the universes (in the plural). The understanding and interpretation right or wrong, always imperfect and consequently evolutive, of these laws are behind religions and philosophies. And one law of the universe provides that our future is in our hands for the reason that everything is subjected to the law on cause and effect.
I am a Roman Catholic but in my view: To believe without having seen is a question of faith and words are not evidences. But as we read in the bible, Satan will be defeated at the end of time, and then afterwards: Revelation 20:7 says, “When the thousand years are completed, Satan will be released from his prison”, but that’s another story.
Cordialement
