He “appeared to glorify the Boston Marathon terror bombing, celebrate the deaths of NATO military personnel, and cheer the downing of aircraft.”
But he claimed that it was all because he had a hard life in Afghanistan, and then was a victim of “racism” in Canada. When his posts cheering jihad terrorism were discovered, he lost his security clearance. “As his job required that security clearance, the loss of it caused him to be terminated. A.B. filed five grievances to the Federal Public Sector Labour Relations and Employment Board over this, arguing he was unfairly fired and had experienced racial and religious discrimination.”
Yes, he claimed protected victim status. It’s a tested and successful playbook, but oddly enough, this time it failed.
“Federal labour board upholds public servant’s firing over social media posts glorifying terrorism,” by Brian Platt, National Post, July 19, 2019:
OTTAWA — A federal labour board has upheld the 2015 firing of a Canada Revenue Agency employee who worked next to the Calgary airport and wrote frequent Twitter and Facebook posts that “appeared to glorify the Boston Marathon terror bombing, celebrate the deaths of NATO military personnel, and cheer the downing of aircraft.”
The ruling, handed down May 16 but published online Friday, took the unusual step of anonymizing the man’s name after adjudicator Bryan Gray determined the former employee, who practices Islam and immigrated from Afghanistan in 1999, had already experienced racism in his day-to-day life.
“I accept the submissions of his representative that this decision, if it is published with his full name, could significantly increase the risk of this racist treatment being exacerbated,” he wrote.
The former employee, called A.B. in the ruling, lasted only ten days at the Canada Revenue Agency in January 2015. He worked in a call centre located on the grounds of Calgary airport, connected to the airport terminal by an indoor walkway.
A co-worker alerted CRA security about A.B. after recognizing him from a previous private-sector workplace where a security concern had been raised about him, causing the RCMP and the Canadian Security Intelligence Service to investigate. (A.B. later said CSIS had even invited him to be an informant, but he declined.)
The co-worker was also friends with A.B. on Facebook and told investigators he posted frequently about events in Afghanistan. “She said that his posts were mainly in support of the terrorist organizations,” the ruling says. “Further, when Canadian or American soldiers were killed he would post celebratory and supporting messages. When terrorist plans were thwarted or disrupted he would post empathetic messages. The posts are said to have been frequent.”
Investigators found numerous Twitter posts — now deleted — where A.B. cheered on terrorism attacks. Two weeks after the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, he tweeted: “@nytimesworld any harm to US occupier army in #Afghanistan is a good (sic) news. #bostonmarathon. Hope more of this to follow.”
Another tweet around the same time cheered on a plane crash — a particularly worrying tweet for investigators, given the office’s airport location. It said: “@piersmorgan Mr. Morgan there’s a (sic) wonderful news out there. Another plane connected to occupation of #afghanistan crashed. #bostonmarathon.”
A tweet from 2011 referred to the Haqqani Network, an Afghan and Pakistani insurgent group that Canada lists as a designated terrorism organization. “#Haqanigroup is started by me and it refers to one the (sic) resistance groups in Afghanistan against the US occupation of the country,” the tweet said.
In 2012, he tweeted: “@BBCBreaking sorry to hear about civilian casualties in eastern #Afghanistan but really happy to see #Nato casualties.they (sic) deserve it.”
Following the investigation, the CRA revoked A.B.’s “reliability status,” a basic security clearance. There is no mention of how A.B. had been able to get a low-level security clearance in the first place, which requires a requires a 5-year background check.
As his job required that security clearance, the loss of it caused him to be terminated. A.B. filed five grievances to the Federal Public Sector Labour Relations and Employment Board over this, arguing he was unfairly fired and had experienced racial and religious discrimination.
A.B. told the board he had lived a very hard life. He grew up in Kabul, Afghanistan, and had been shot while riding a bike when he was 13 (he believes by a militant group supported by the U.S., though it’s unclear what year this happened). His family fled to a Pakistani refugee camp, where he lived until emigrating to Canada in 1999.
Despite having arrived in Canada well before the NATO military action in Afghanistan, A.B. considered his “painful upbringing as being caused by NATO and US intrusions, be they political, economic or military, into Afghan life,” the adjudicator wrote. The adjudicator said A.B. argued the U.S. had paid the Taliban $250 million “to secure an oil pipeline.”
A.B. said he’d frequently experienced racism in Canada, and that it was difficult “wearing a long beard and being the only brown-skinned person in the office of the business he worked for.” But the adjudicator noted A.B. had been proud to get a job working for the federal government, “as he said that Afghans believe all such good government jobs are reserved for Caucasians.”
The ruling says A.B. “expressed regret for his many Tweets that were at issue” and had deleted his account. It also notes the final investigation concluded he “presented a very low risk to commit an act of violence within or in proximity to a CRA facility,” and was working near the airport by coincidence. It says he gave a “vehement expression of loyalty to Canada.”
But the adjudicator rejected A.B.’s argument that he had been discriminated against, ruling the CRA had acted reasonably….

The danger is that the Canadian authorities will now use this as an excuse to fire lots of foes of jihad, claiming that those who post comments opposing jihad and Islamization are A.B.’s “far right” equivalents.

The above is an example of islamogoria!
James Lincoln says
Lydia,
Exactly!
The majority of Jihad Watch posters use great care with their posts and at least attempt to use factual, evidence-based logic. That being said, the far left and Muslims will both see us as Islamophobes, racists, bigots, white nationalist supremacists, etc., ad nauseum.
We should not care.

Well, this would be hilarious if it were not so disturbing.
So now preaching Jihad terrorism is only a problem be4ause it reflects poorly on Islam?

================
Declaration of Independence has relevance today!
Natural Law / Natural Right require an explanation today
in a way it didn’t in the 18th Century era….
The Founders believe it is possible to derive an IT from an OUGHT,
be deriving from the Golden Rule, due to each of us being similar
and equal as human beings.
Government must be agreed to by consent among us people.
Basis of our Constitutional system, securing our rights and safety.
We need checks and balances because we are faulted individuals.
Civil society exists between the State and Individuals, in cooperation
as associations for interest and happiness, freely able to construct
tapestry in how we relate. Government is on the perimeter of all this
free thought and action.
Rights pre-exist, as from God. Government can be a danger, and
it needs to be controlled by the public itself. The more centralized
a government gets, the more powerful and thus abusive it becomes.
Progressive liberals set up the notion that the people give the
government power, and the government then gives us “rights”.
America is in a perilous condition with this dual perspective of
the Original (Revolutionary)
and the Living (Evolutionary)
sense of the Constitution…
Liberals radicalized.
Conservatives reacted.
Cold Civil War has been in existence since the 1960s in the USA.
The Left’s “Transformation” is intended to bring Americans into
a more perfect society as more perfect human beings.
Free will would need to be surrendered, ironically, to fit in.
This is “political correctness”.
Left is progressing with strict moral controls, inquisitions,
lists of conduct and what information is permissible.
The “Free Country” notion is no longer being recognized.
The radical agenda pushes the fear of “systemic racism”….
The Declaration of Independence didn’t solve the institution of slavery
but it defined it as a term, as a contradiction to republican form of life.
Slavery became wrong. Independence declared equality as a truth
and emancipation as a goal, contemplating the eventual extinction
of slavery.
Shelby Steele says, “We are free. Be free !”
JM says
And yet slavery was banned in the United Kingdom in 1807 and the slave trade was abolished (and that law enforced at gunpoint, via the Royal Navy) throughout the British Empire in 1833, a generation before the American Civil War did the same for slaves in the Confederacy states.
The United Kingdom was at the time, and remains, a constitutional monarchy.
The Founding Fathers who drafted the U.S. Declaration of Independence were themselves slave owners.
Slavery, or the lack of it, has nothing to do with the political establishment, whether that be republican or a constitutional monarchy.
CRUSADER says
That suited the UK at that time, as the British Colonies held slaves ….
The other type of slavery, as in the verses of the US National Anthem,
had been of the British governance which didn’t listen to its citizens…
thus the yoke had to be broken, and America has remained exceptional
and more powerful ever since…
It took the American navy to handle the Islamic piracy in the Mediterranean.
That piracy was about booty and enslavement.
The Declaration of Independence was about inspirational liberty and
aspirational freedom, something which allowed for society to evolve.
Within two generations of the America Revolution, slavery was abolished.
That is significant, when considering how dominant it was in the minds of
the world at the time, and for eons prior to the 18th and 19th centuries….
Note, that the British held Ireland in a different capacity, indentured servitude….
It took extra effort to get slavery outlawed as a practice and as a trade
on an international scale.
Human “trafficking” is skyrocketing in modern day, however.
ZOE aids in finding solutions against such abomination….

This guy was fired under the Harper government in 2015. Does anyone think the current Trudeau government would ever remove this guy from his CRA or any other government job based on his support of Jihad.
Who in their right mind would want to live in a society that allows the hiring to jobs that require a security clearance, the supporters of an ideology that promotes the killing and maiming of their fellow employees and their families.
Who in their right mind would want to work next to someone who posts online comments of support for Jihadists who murder our troops.
Who in their right mind would employ someone with the potential to turn up at work one day with a firearm or bomb to deal with their fellow employees who they think are “Islamophobic” or racist.
Who in their right mind would allow such a person to remain in our country.
Only those who live in a world where the likes of Justin Trudeau and his jihad loving government are elected …. that’s who.
Canadians must stop this lunacy in October by removing Trudeau and his pathetic government from office.
