The state of California has introduced “blatantly anti-Semitic and anti-Israel” lessons into its official high school curriculum, drawing outrage and concern in the state’s Jewish and pro-Israel communities, according to multiple sources involved in the controversy.
The California Department of Education is facing backlash after permitting a host of anti-Israel activists to build a statewide educational curriculum that demonizes the Jewish state and is said to be fostering hatred of Jewish and Israeli-American students, sources said.
Already, 83 pro-Israel and anti-discrimination organizations have petitioned the state’s education department to reform its Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum (ESMC) to remove multiple instances of what they say is anti-Semitic and anti-Israel bias.
Multiple sources involved in the fight have described to the Washington Free Beacon anti-Semitic courses that they say are fostering an unsafe environment for Jewish and Israeli-American students. Further information obtained by the Free Beacon reveals that several of the educators involved in pushing the new curriculum have a history of anti-Israel activism that has often spilled into anti-Semitic territory….
The curriculum, the organizations claim, is the result of an effort by several leading educators who have expressed both anti-Israel and anti-Semitic viewpoints….
Shoham Nicolet, head of the Israel American Council, an organization working to oppose the curriculum and expose those behind it, told the Free Beacon that California’s small, tightknit Israeli-American community is concerned that this curriculum will foster anti-Semitism in the state’s schools.
“As immigrants of this country, we’re looking at a curriculum that will discriminate based on ethnic backgrounds,” Nicolet said.
After researching the educators behind the new curriculum, Nicolet said he was “surprised to find out that you have people who are … supporters of BDS publicly.”
The global BDS movement has been described not just by pro-Israel leaders but also by many members of Congress as an anti-Semitic movement that seeks to wage economic warfare on Israel and Jewish citizens.
“It’s odd that a professional committee that’s supposed to have an impact on the education of millions of kids in California in public school and is funded by taxpayers is so biased,” Nicolet said. “How come the BDS movement is part of what is supposed to be allowed in classrooms in California?”
Public research materials viewed by the Free Beacon reveal that several committee members behind California Department of Education’s Draft Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum are outspoken critics of Israel.
One member, Samia Shoman, is a Palestinian-American who teaches in the San Mateo Union High District. Her lesson plans on Palestinian history have been featured as a teaching tool by the Qatar Foundation International, a group tied to the nation and its efforts to proliferate boycotts of Israel. Shoman is also a pro-Palestinian activist on Twitter.
Another committee member, Gaye Theresa Johnson, an associate professor at UCLA college of social sciences, also has supported pro-Palestinian causes on Twitter, including retweets from pro-Iran individuals who have deemed Tehran as the victim in the ongoing nuclear standoff with the United States.
A third committee member, Theresa Montaño, a professor at California State University, Northridge, has publicly supported the BDS movement and advocates for Israeli scholars to be boycotted in the United States. Montaño also signed a 2009 letter to then-president Barack Obama that was organized by one of the globe’s most prominent BDS organizations….

No one said that American Jews are solely responsible for the “success” the democrats had these past few decades (although they are backed by a number of influential and wealthy Jews and their organisations — i.e. George Soros — but that’s a different topic).
The point is that they keep feeding the dog that bites them. This is tantamount to hardline muslims voting for Trump (which, of course, does not happen at all). In other words: sheer illogical lunacy. No one is “obsessing” about Jewish votes, but you can’t blame people for wondering why in the hell are Jews continuously voting against their own interests/well-being.

The source article fails totally because it does not cite specific points that are “blatantly anti-Semitic and anti-Israel.”
The author uses the Socialists/Communist approach of merely using conslusionary supports without any facts listed as justifications.
This approach is not persuasive!
A better approach is to cite to several (or many) specific offensive items that would allow the reader make their own conclusions.

There is a point to specifying the specific items as listed in the curriculum. However, you say it totally fails as is but I would disagree. That the specific theme is the victimization of ‘palestinians’ and Israel is an oppressor, and BDS is a legitimate form of ‘resistance’ without any mention of other viewpoints, let alone that the curriculum is a direct creation of Qatar, a terrorist supporting nation with direct goals of overthrowing non muslim cultures and nations- outlawed by other muslim nations even, for their support of terrorism agains them should be enough. That there is no other views presented nor the means to sift and winnow thru the ‘history’ should be a direct cause for concern.
That alone makes this article as is, certainly not a failure, but rather a warning. Those who pull out the racism card, hate card, bigotry card, jew hatred card, and get it put into curriculums for students and those who accept this, are a great danger to the expression of learning, not the fulfillment.

Just reported: “The California State Board of Education (SBE) announced on Aug. 12 that the proposed anti-Israel Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum (ESMC) will be replaced with an entirely new draft.”
Which is welcomed, indeed. But of course all it indicates is that the previous curicullum was indeed unacceptable but you and I would indeed like further explanation and exposure as to how this happened
and how such a curriculum proposal, so one-sided could be peddled and accepted by ‘the board’.

Jews need to be able to determine what is anti-Semitic from what is not anti-Semitic. They also need to understand that they have limited resources.
Fight the genuinely anti-Semitic.
Fight the immoral.
Ignore most of other things done by the various parts of the government.
Some things may effect them as people, in which case argue as a person not a Jew. Make alliances with none Jewish people.
Ensure that other Jews do not make a mess. When the mess is cleared up the rest of the country may assume the mess was a Jewish Conspiracy and punish all Jews.

To fight this someone needs to be tasked with preparing a list of all the anti-Semitic points in the Curriculum. Also any anti-white and anti-men points. Prepare counter points with evidence. Pick 3 of the worst points and summarize them on a single sheet of paper. Next the objectors should fight the proposal over these points.

Truth in Textbooks (TNT), formerly Truth in Texas Textbooks (TTT) Coalition, is a dedicated group of capable citizen reviewers of the social s textbooks our children are given to use in schools each year.
By the end of 2018 TNT will have over 200 volunteers who have attended and completed the three month long training program. The goal is to have 500 trained reviewers who will be standing by to assist teachers, parents and those concerned citizens who find material in the social studies classrooms to be less than accurate. TNT hopes to have an additional 200 reviewers trained by the end of 2018.
TNT will assist those states that do a centralized process of textbook review and selection for all grades K-12. There are 22 of those states.
TNT, when requested by parents, teachers or school board members, can assist in reviewing the social studies textbooks being considered for grades K-12.
TNT, when requested by parents, teachers or school board members, can assist in reviewing instructional material, supplemental material that is not a part of the school approved lesson plan or other audio/video material (based upon availability to obtain the material) on specific social studies related topics.
There is no charge for any of these services.
Funding is provided to subject matter experts who advise, counsel and conduct final reviews of the reviews provided by our trained volunteers. Truth in Textbooks is a 501c3 non-profit. TNT started as Truth in Texas Textbooks Coalition in October 2013. Operating independently the work of our volunteers is found on this website. The success of our volunteers in getting real changes made to the social studies textbooks demonstrated that with the proper selection of volunteers, training of the volunteers and sticking to specific processes and procedures these textbooks could be properly reviewed and critiqued professionally.
The roots of TTT were planted in Tennessee where citizens there conducted social studies textbook reviews in the summer of 2013. They continue the fight today and because of their work have seen significant change come about due to the pressure that was applied to elected, appointed governmental officials and education administrators.

of Social Studies Textbooks Review —-
Truth in Texas Textbooks (TTT) Coalition was formed in October 2013 for the single purpose of improving the factual accuracy of social studies textbooks for the 5 million children of Texas who will use these textbooks beginning in the 2015 -2016 school year.
Our team of volunteers from inside and outside the state of Texas produced 32 reviews of middle school and high school textbooks. This total represents only 20% of the total number of instructional materials submitted by publishers for consideration. Our team was made up of concerned parents, grandparents, teachers and subject matter experts. Training for our volunteers began in January 2014 and included “mock reviews” using the protocols and procedures laid out by the TTT experts for its volunteers.
The final 469 page report covered World History (177 pages), US History (143 pages), World Geography & Culture (86 pages), Texas History (36 pages), US Government (25 pages) and Economics (2 pages). Publishers reviewed were McGraw Hill, Discovery, Pearson, Houghton Mifflin, Perfection, Worldview and Cengage.
Using an online collaboration tool, Basecamp, TTT reviewers worked remotely accessing the textbooks and working together in four person teams to minimize individual biases. Beginning in June each team was assigned a book and completed their review in approximately three weeks. Most teams were able to review a total of four books from June through October. Team reports were then reviewed by subject matter experts consisting of former social studies teachers, experienced textbook reviewers, college professors, authors and clergy.
Thousands of hours have been dedicated to the project involving over 200+ volunteers. Our volunteer reviewers are not compensated for any work submitted with these reports. Dr Alfonsi receives a monthly stipend for managing all of the reviews and for the final submission. Funds come from honorariums paid to TNT speakers and by donations from individuals and from groups that support our efforts.
For the first time ever, some publishers responded to the critiques and provided feedback on why they approved of changes or disagreed with TTT.

Tbh, I think Jews, unlike the Muslims of CAIR simply have a differing modus operandi. CAIR is like Thor’s hammer with a big thunder-clap. It makes lots of noise and certainly gets your attention. Shock and Awe. The Jewish groups like the ADL (Anti-Goyim Defaming League) and the SPLC and their inumerable offshoots are more like trying to sleep with a half dozen flys buzzing near your ear.
