The Palestinian Jihad against Israel aims to delegitimize the Jewish state and ultimately obliterate it. Now comes word that pro-Palestinian activists are “cheering” a decision by Canadian federal court judge Anne L. Mactavish, in which she reinforced the fiction that Israel as an occupying State and a thief of Palestinian land.
Mactavish “ruled that wines produced by Israelis in the West Bank can no longer be labeled as ‘Made in Israel’” because “settlements are not considered part of the State of Israel, as Canada does not recognize Israeli sovereignty beyond the pre-1967 borders”; so therefore she decided that to label these wines “Made in Israel” is “false, misleading and deceptive.” Her decision marks a low point for Canada’s federal court, in that it is now levying a hostile judgement against the State of Israel despite ongoing jihadist efforts to delegitimize Israel and ultimately destroy it.
“In 2015, the European Union said goods produced in the settlements must not be labeled as made in Israel.” The decision was compared to the “Nazi boycott of Jewish goods before World War II.”
As state-propelled antisemitism increases, so does the strength of the jihad against Jews and against Israel.
“Settlement wines cannot be labeled ‘Made in Israel,’ Canadian court rules,” by Raphael Ahren, Times of Israel, July 29, 2019:
Canada’s Federal Court on Monday ruled that wines produced by Israelis in the West Bank can no longer be labeled as “Made in Israel.”
Challenging a previous decision by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Judge Anne L. Mactavish determined that labels describing wines made in the settlements as Israeli products are “false, misleading and deceptive.”
In her ruling, she did not take a position on how exactly such wines should be labeled, saying this was for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency to decide.
Mactavish also noted that settlements are not considered part of the State of Israel, as Canada does not recognize Israeli sovereignty beyond the pre-1967 borders.
While the judge’s decision is legal and not political in nature, it could potentially strain otherwise strong ties between Jerusalem and Ottawa.
In 2015, the European Union said goods produced in the settlements must not be labeled as made in Israel. Many senior officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, denounced the union for the move, suggesting that it was comparable to the Nazi boycott of Jewish goods before World War II.
The Canadian case started in early 2017, when David Kattenburg, a Winnipeg-based university lecturer and self-declared “wine lover,” filed a complaint with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency about the fact that wines made in Israeli settlements were labeled as “Products of Israel.”
Kattenburg, who is Jewish, reasoned that since Canada does not recognize the settlements as part of sovereign Israel, labeling wines produced there as Israeli violated consumer protection laws….
RichardL says
The verdict is good because it might cause sane Canadians to start a discussion about the laws in Canada with regard to Israel. Shabat shalom!
william carr says
Is this relevant? Judges in many countries (especially N America it seems) act like little ‘gods’ all the time. The simple fact it has Hebrew writing on the label tell it is Israeli anyhow. I buy the Mount Hebron wine it is excellent
RichardL says
Agreed. When I lived in Paris, every time there was a major call to boycott Israel. I walked to the Jewish quarter and bought one of their fantastic red wines. And then I discovered that the Muslim mini mart across the street had a great selection of Israeli products including wine.

Well what could one expect….this is CANADAISTAN. So sorry to see the, once great Canadian peoples, sinking so low as to allow things like this to happen…Shame, shame and one has to throw this st the feet of the people.

First off Canada can not make any argument as to Israel’s land. God has already claimed that land for the Jews and any Country that don’t like it can move to an Islamic Country and do business there. Canada is another Satan’s paradise like Cali-fornication.

This is true. There were no Muslims when God told Abram to enter the Holy land. There was no Palestine, Just a bunch of cities that worshiped human sacrifice and other cults.

This judge was also the President then the Chairperson of Canada’s Human Rights Tribunal before she was appointed a federal judge by Jean Chretien the Liberal PM in 2003. Our Canadian courts are full of judges with progressive views and values or should say distorted views and values.
Westman says
Not surprising. Leftists never seem to understand the flexibility and vitality of capitalism. Even this educated legal bigot judge thinks she can throttle Israeli business. The US tried this nonsense with Japan over automobiles and it led to new luxury vehicles to bypass import quotas.
Israel could simply move the wine processing facilities out of the settlements, since grapes are not wine, and continue growing the grapes in the settlements – making the wine a product of “Israel”.
Sue says
Exactly, and the only people who will lose their jobs are mostly Palestinian workers. Like Soda Stream!
Don McKellar says
Unfortunately for Israel, this is an example of a judge who is deciding based on clearly laid out and established standards by the Canadian government. Completely unlike Obamajudges who have tied up and delayed Trump at every turn based on their own imaginary political ideology (until they are finally overturned as unconstitutional). This will change after the next election and the white Obama is removed from office and his embarrassing joke of a reign comes to an end.

The League of Nations handed down rulings in 1925 which determined that Palestine and Transjordan were newly created successor states of the Ottoman Empire as defined by international law. That is when the West Bank became part of the intended Jewish National Home. This ruling is still in effect.
Great Britain created this waffling mess when they split off 77% of Mandatory Palestine and handed it to the Hashemi family as their personal emirate.
On April 24, 1950, King Abdullah of Transjordan formally merged all of Arab-held Palestine with Transjordan and granted citizenship to all Arab residents and settlers (the vast majority of whom arrived the 1920s for economic reasons).
The Hashemite Kingdom was no longer only ‘across the river Jordan’, so the prefix “Trans” (meaning “across”) was dropped, and henceforth, the land became known as Jordan; i.e., Arab Palestine.
In fact, no international ruling after 1925 has finalized the attribution of the West Bank to any country. The West Bank is roughly the region of ancient Judea. It is absurd to say that Judea (the original home of ‘Judean’ Jews) is not part of Israel.
mortimer says
David Kattenburg, a self-hating Jew who sabotages Jews who are building something wonderful and creating jobs for Arabs in the region.
The conflict in the minds of Muslims is not about borders but about the existence of any country called ‘Israel’. They want ever part of it controlled by Muslims. This is a jihad. It is religious-based bigotry from the Muslims.
David Kattenburg doesn’t get that.
CogitoErgoSum says
Okay, so make the label to read “Made in the Israeli West Bank.” The main concern of the Food Inspection Agency should be with whether or not a product is safe for human consumption. Will the wine be declared unsafe to drink if the label on the bottle is changed or will it be banned from importation into Canada if it comes from the West Bank?
Angemon says
We already know what the CFIA decided – “Made in Israel”. A simple, quick solution would be “Israeli Wine”, on the grounds that it is wine made by Israelis.
Francisco D'Anconia says
So if you’re Arab Muslim and move to the West Bank you instantaneously become an indigenous “Palestinian”. If you are Jew living there you remain a “settler”. Forever. Pure antisemitic bigotry.
CRUSADER says
That’s about it.

This decision exposes several problems and many ideas for name changes in other places where wine is made:
1) The way Jewish activists for Islamists, like David Kattenburg and IJV, are some of the most vile shit disturbers and anti-Israel haters.
2) Canadians who applaud this ruling will not be surprised when wines from Canada will have to be labelled, “Made in occupied Turtle Island” or “Made in the Land of the First People” or other names specific to tribes who do not identify with Canada.
3) I think that Israel should label its wine, “Made in Judea-Samaria” or “Made in the Land Disputed by Terrorists.”
Jayme says
Prince Edward County which is between Ottawa and Toronto is a hot bed for wine the issue is many wine claim to be from PEC is not its just outside the county so that could be a issue.
Oren Wysocki says
Either stop selling Israeli wine in canada, let canadian Jews suffer, as A reminder what kind of country they live in. Or tax every bottle of wine that gets sold from Israel, and have the proceeds from that tax go to reducing costs and expenses of wine makers out of the Israeli land of Judea and Samaria.
canadian leftist support muslim war crimes. canadian leftist support muslim genocide, canadian leftists support censoring muslim crimes and intentions towards the Jews, canadian leftists endanger Jewish lives, canadian leftists support the denial of Jews equal rights as stipulated in the sharia, canadian leftists support the rape, beating and murder of Jewish children. May G-d bring justice against canadian leftists who represent the majority of their country. In G-d I trust.

Leftists make such a big deal about forcing people to call people by whatever pronoun they want, even if some male wants to be called a female. If you do not comply with the left’s demands, they will label you a “racist,” “homophobic” or some stupid nonsensical label and then take you to court or have you in front of some “Human Rights Tribunal.
Why can’t Israel do the same thing as the leftists by demanding to use the name of Israel when that, in this case, is the truth?
Maybe Israel should go before a Human Rights Tribunal to demand the government of Canada recognize Israel and the place where Israeli wine is grown, produced and bottled.
Gork says
Israel doesn’t have to label their wines. They can label the place in Israel that it came from. So if it comes from Zichron Yaakov, label it as such. If it comes from Tiberias, label it as such.
Argue about which origin country it is over dinner. Let the wine speak for itself.

Just more proof that self-hating libertine “liberal” hypocrite Jews are still their own worst enemies.

1. The Bible makes it clear that the land of Israel will be unproductive if the Jews are not living there. See what both Mark Twain and the Rev Murray M’Cheyne said about their visit to ‘Palestine’ for the evidence.
2. The Bible makes it clear that at the end of the age, all countries will rise up against Israel. It says at this time, YHWH will personally intervene to prevent the destruction of Israel. It wont be a pleasant time. It is never successful to chose to go against YHWH God.

For what, for defending herself?
It has always been so.
Seeming that “time has caught up to” the Jews.
It is the case there is neither side pure from causing heartbreak, but if Islam laid down it’s arms against Israel there would be peace.
If Israel laid down it’s arms there would be holocaust.
There are many portraying an acquired righteousness of current concern for a segmented portion of Islam, the underdog Palestinian people, who in fact simply support a new holocaust.

From a wine politics thread we arrive …
First, I understated the reality of the horrors of war, the word heartache is insufficient. Forgiveness is the only ultimate solution.
I am not shocked by what is said in the supportive reviews of “Against Our Better Judgement” by Allison Weir.
The beginning of the state of Israel was an extraordinary event.
One very ground level history of 1947 – 48 in the USA can be found in “The Pledge” by Leonard Slater.
That was s then. This is now.

Those wines made in the West Bank of Israel should be labelled as “Wines of courage and heroism grown under threat of terror attack, bombings, dismemberment and death.”
Their labels should also include “Despite the daily threat to its existence our winery will always bring you, the freedom loving consumer, the best wines produced by Israeli heroes.”
SHAME on the Canadian justice system !!!!
