Hamdan will live in Enderby, which is “less than 90 minutes from the Revelstoke Dam, one of the targets he had named. Randal Hyland said the dam was ‘specifically identified as a potential target for a terrorist attack’ in Hamdan’s Facebook posts, and was only a ‘relatively short drivable distance from Enderby.'”
What could possibly go wrong? Only greasy Islamophobes would be concerned about this, right?
“Online ISIS supporter deemed a danger to Canada ordered released from custody,” by Stewart Bell, Global News, August 2, 2019 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):
A Jordanian man who has been declared a danger to Canada’s security for spreading ISIS propaganda on the internet is being released from custody to live in rural B.C. while the government tries to deport him.
Immigration and Refugee Board Member Geoff Rempel ordered the release of Othman Hamdan on Friday afternoon, rejecting the Canada Border Service Agency’s concerns that he is a risk to national security.
While Rempel acknowledged the release involved “a level of danger to the public,” he said it was less than in other cases and Hamdan had no history of committing violence in Canada….
His lawyer argued the conditions would eliminate any risks, but a CBSA official opposed freeing Hamdan and noted Enderby was less than 90 minutes from the Revelstoke Dam, one of the targets he had named.
Randal Hyland said the dam was “specifically identified as a potential target for a terrorist attack” in Hamdan’s Facebook posts, and was only a “relatively short drivable distance from Enderby.”
The proposal to release Hamdan to a “remote location” far from a CBSA office that could monitor him was “woefully inadequate” and did not include any plan for deradicalization, Hyland argued.
The case — unfolding as the government has vowed to crack down on online extremist content — involves the fate of an Abu Dhabi-born Jordanian citizen who came to Canada in 2002 and was granted refugee status.
Following the October 2014 terror attacks in Quebec and Ontario, the RCMP identified Facebook messages by Hamdan that a Mountie said had demonstrated “clear support” for ISIS.
“Mr. Hamdan identified infrastructure in Canada which could be targets for attack. He encouraged lone wolves in the West who could not travel abroad to carry out attacks at home,” the IRB ruled.
“He shared a detailed how-to manual for lone wolves to follow in serving the terrorist agenda of the Islamic State. Additionally, many posts appear to be recruitment initiatives.”
Although a B.C. judge found him not guilty of terrorism charges in 2017, Hamdan is not a Canadian citizen and has been detained since September 2017 by immigration authorities who want to deport him back to Jordan.
The IRB ordered his deportation in October 2018, ruling he is a danger to the security of Canada, and a Federal Court judge later called him “an unmitigated liar.”
The bondsperson Hamdan will live with is a former co-worker who was his roommate when he made some of the online posts that led to his arrest….

Canada: ISIS jihadi deemed a danger to the public to be released anyway, will live near one of his intended targets

Canada is further endangering her citizens. This Muslim thug should be in prison, then deported after serving his sentence.

Yes, deport back to Jordan.

There is a simple and easy fix for this and one to which no one should have objection. The judge in such a case should put his money where his mouth is. If evidence is convincing that the malefactor is likely to commit a crime, go ahead – turn him loose, but with the proviso that if he SHOULD commit a crime the judge shares the conviction for that crime. If, on the other hand the judge is proven right, let them both live in peace. The judge cannot object – after all, he is willing to let the person loose on society and let them take the risk for his decision. He is that confident that all will be well, right? If his judgment is sound then no one need fear anything – the public will be safe, the prospective criminal will not be punished for anything he didn’t do and the judge will have no concern about his own career and liberty. BUT . . . if he judge is foolish and the freed jihadi does what he SAYS he wants to do – say, blow up a church or school or bridge or run over people, then the judge won’t be setting the next one free. We have given judges free rein to make decisions without reference to their own condition. That was to empower them to be objective. But they have largely abused this freedom to set bail, to confer sentences, etc., and have been very subjective in their behavior. They have earned our disapprobation and our censure. Our safety and that of our families and community are at stake and are presently threatened by irresponsible judges. Look at the judges in UK who freed some of the worst rape gang convicts – after their convictions – and some fled. Look at the US judges who turn illegal immigrants loose on the promise that they will show up for a hearing and never do. Enough of this nonsense. Just put the judges at risk if they put us at risk. Simple. And if they object, they are saying that they think the criminal WILL act out but they don’t care if the public is the victim. They are saying they don’t care at all about the next victim.
Screw ’em.

I agree with you!! But if the guy ends up doing what he threatened then put him & the judge in the same cell for the same sentence!!
The judge will be reminded everyday he wakes up what a damn stupid decision he made.
I use to work with a lady who works at the Revelstoke Dam, unless she’s retired now.

In Canadian politics all laws and rules that might make a Muslim 1 minute late for his 4th prayer have to be scrapped or modified, not for the Muslim but for appearances.

In some good news the Federal Courts have refused this and he will be held in jail untill a hearing can be held.

If he’s a danger to Canada’s security, why not keep him prison? You know, away from the web, where he spreads ISIS propaganda… And “tries to deport him”? Do or don’t – what’s the hiccup?

They are identifiable by an ordinary citizen as to where and when they assemble, and what are the nature of the connections among Islamist groups and their family ties. It’s like the Entomologist who went into counter-terrorism says: “You follow the trails and you find the nests.”
Canadians RESIST understanding that there are such dedicated men who live near their targets. Even knows who know it, usually don’t realize that these are merely the tip of the spear. The most dangerous elements need never touch a firearm.
We live near our targets too.

It is typical of Western governments under leftist influence to care more about criminals and terrorists, rapists, religious fanatics than about normal citizens who need protection. The leftist politicians typically isolate themselves and their families from any of the people they care so much about. The people they would most want to support live far away, and if there are problems, they are not themselves affected. They preach diversity, but the only diversity they know is the illegal aliens they hire as servants. The other people in their vicinity are not threats to their comfortable lives.
James Lincoln says
True enough, James.
At some point, however, the leftist politicians will begin to run out of “other people’s neighborhoods” to house the criminal “undesirables”.

Yes, limousine liberals are so hypocritical and underserved their constituents.

One of the bigger issue in Canada is some reporters have very islamic here is a recent re tweet from one of The Stars reporters in reply to the El Paso shooting.
So he cool if they prayed to Allah then? Or must it be only to who ever he considers god? Forget #WhiteSupremacistTerrorism, this is basic white supremacy thinking that permeates all levels of society
I know this has not much to do with terror but it goes to the root cause of issues in between blacks and whites and its being pushed by the left and well known people.

Jihadis only have mental illness, necessitating our collective “understanding” — but their counterparts of other ideologies in Europe and in USA or Canada are deemed as supremacists dangerous to society.

Immigration and Refugee Board Member Geoff Rempel is a very brave man. Taking on responsibility for ISIS supporter Othman Hamdan actions. If Hamdan manages to harm anyone it will be Rempel who would be accountable, as he will have enabled the violence. He would have effectively acted as Hamdan’s accomplice. At some point, Canadians victimized by the Rempels are going to hold them personally accountable for their actions.

I think the court should have stipulated that release depended on him staying far from his targets. If this fellow had two passports, most Canadians would agree he should lose his Canadian citizenship because he failed to deserve the trust previously placed in him.
There must be a consequence when immigrants commit acts against the state.
Tom says
As soon as I saw this on Global News I fired off an email to my MP demanding he do something to reverse this idiotic decision.
The next day the Global News said that his release had been appealed by border services and a federal judge has agreed that he should remain in custody pending an appeal hearing of the original decision to release him.
The issue here is that an adjudicator knowing that this ISIS sympathizer is a danger to the Canadian public safety, yet weighed his right to release over that concern.
The adjudicator is the real problem and the culture promoted by the Trudeau government of being soft on returning ISIS fighters. This idiotic decision is completely in line with Trudeau’s agenda.
Trudeau and his disaster of a government must go in October if we are to gain control of what kind of people are living in our communities.

“Rempel acknowledged the release involved “a level of danger to the public,”
Rempel appears to be a really responsible and considerate guy, said no one. The jihadi is a time bomb and if released should be relocated to an isolated location in Immigration and Refugee Board Member Geoff Rempel’s basement. Canadian citizens can monitor the intersectional progress from afar. I would love to see how Rempel handles a level of danger. A wild guess is Rempel would be outraged. Outraged.

I agree, he should be released, but under one and only one condition. He must live next door to the PM and his family.
