In a groundbreaking move:
Twenty-one Knesset members cosigned a letter to members of the U.S. Congress….thanking them for the recent resolution rejecting the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, but warning them that the resolution’s endorsement of a two-state solution is “far more dangerous for Israel” than boycott efforts.”
This letter flies in the face of the longstanding “peace process,” in which a two-state solution has been the goal. What has been largely unrecognized is that the process was bogus, since the PLO Charter, the Fatah Charter, and the Hamas Charter all call for the obliteration of Israel, and chants of “From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free” This chant is a declaration that the goal of so-called freedom for the Palestinians is rooted in wiping Israel off the map from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea. Rep. Rashida Tlaib advocates for just that: a one-state solution, in keeping with the Palestinian goal.
Should Palestinians be awarded their own state, not one Israeli will exist in such a state, according to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. Given the hate, the Pay-for-Slay program that pays Palestinian jihadists and their families for murdering innocent Israelis, and the longstanding Palestinian efforts to obliterate Israel, a two-state solution will merely strengthen the Palestinian jihad against Israel and its quest to obliterate the Jewish state.
The letter by the Members of Knesset stated:
Such a state would undoubtedly be a dysfunctional terrorist state, which would distance peace and undermine stability in the Middle East. As politicians, we understand that these resolutions are accompanied by many compromises along the way in order to reach a language agreed upon by a majority. However, the affirmation of support for establishing a Palestinian state is so dangerous that we respectfully request that you take that into consideration, and in the future avoid determining that establishing an additional Arab state on territory that is the Land of Israel is part of the solution to the dispute.
The letter, which will be a rude awakening to many, was “initiated by the Land of Israel Caucus in the Knesset and Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan,” who rebuked AIPAC for seeking a two-state solution.
“Israeli MKs: Two-State Solution ‘Far More Dangerous’ than BDS,” by Deborah Danan, Breitbart, August 13, 2019:
TEL AVIV – Twenty-one Knesset members cosigned a letter to members of the U.S. Congress on Monday, thanking them for the recent resolution rejecting the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, but warning them that the resolution’s endorsement of a two-state solution is “far more dangerous for Israel” than boycott efforts.
Last month the US House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved House Resolution 246, which rejects anti-Israel boycotts “including efforts to target United States companies that are engaged in commercial activities that are legal under US law, and all efforts to delegitimize the State of Israel.”
Monday’s letter, endorsed by MKs from right-wing parties, was sent to the four co-sponsors of the house resolution — Brad Schneider, Lee Zeldin, Jerry Nadler and Ann Wagner.
“Israel is grateful to all our wonderful friends in Congress who stand with us on so many fronts. However, we would like to express to you our concern regarding the anti-BDS resolution (H. Res. 246),” the letter reads.
“We believe it contains a grave error because it expresses, among other things, support for a so-called ‘Two-State Solution,’ meaning the establishment of a ‘Palestinian state’ in the heart of tiny Israel. … We would like to make our position clear that the establishment of a Palestinian state would be far more dangerous to Israel than BDS.”
The letter, initiated by the Land of Israel Caucus in the Knesset and Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan, was signed by Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely (Likud), Deputy Defense Minister Eli Ben Dahan (United Right), Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee Chairman Avi Dichter (Likud) and MK Gideon Sa’ar (Likud) among others.
House Resolution 246, which passed by a vote of 398-17, calls for increased security aid to Israel, but also “urges Israelis and Palestinians to return to direct negotiations as the only way to achieve an end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict” and reaffirms strong support “for a negotiated solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict resulting in two states — a democratic Jewish State of Israel, and a viable, democratic Palestinian state — living side by side in peace, security and mutual recognition.”
The Israeli lawmakers argued that the call for establishing a Palestinian state is not in line with the view of President Donald Trump, who has often repeated that the conflict can only be resolved through direct negotiations between the two parties.
The letter said that such a Palestinian state was at risk of becoming a “terrorist” and “jihadist” state that “would severely damage the national security of both Israel and the United States.”
Such a state would undoubtedly be a dysfunctional terrorist state, which would distance peace and undermine stability in the Middle East….
James says
This is the conservative view. The liberal is that the Israelis need to show more sympathy and compassion for the Palestinians, make more generous concessions on civil rights and welfare so that the Palestinians will cease to feel hostile and stop the terrorist efforts. I am a pessimist myself. I suspect the conservatives are right. But my liberal friends do not want to hear t his.

The totalitarian mindset is incapable of compromise. That’s why there has been no peace deal with the Palistinians. Apparently the majority of them have bought into totalitarian values inculcated by the central Islamic texts (Qur’an, Hadith, Sira) and mediated by fanatical Pal educators and leaders. That’s why the Pals have not managed to rule themselves democratically. When was their last democratic election? As I recall, it was basically one vote, one time, as the dictators like it. If the Pals rejected Islam and its values, 95% or more of the Israeli-Pal conflict would disappear.

Those who convert to Christianity from Islam, however, face the worst Christian persecution and it is difficult for them to safely participate in existing churches. In the West Bank they are threatened and put under great pressure, in Gaza their situation is so dangerous that they live their Christian faith in utmost secrecy. Nevertheless, the number of converts from Islam is growing slowly.
The influence of radical Islamic ideology is rising, and historical churches have to be diplomatic in their approach towards Muslims, who harass church leaders…
Christians not affiliated with the main historical churches sometimes face opposition from larger churches …

Anyone who has seen some of the “Son of Hamas” you tube videos can get a look at what it was like to be right at the core of Hamas, son of one its leaders, and then to come to realize that Islamic culture is sick, pathological. And to begin secretly getting involved with Christianity and finally converting. The risks the Son of Hamas (I don’t recall his name at the moment) had to take to leave Islam and become a Christian were great. Even more dangerous was that he got recruited as a spy working for Israeli intelligence to help thwart terror attacks by Hamas.

There is already a two-state solution which was imposed in 1921 by the British foreign department in an attempt to appease their allies.
Here’s a little history lesson, for those who do not recall the reality of the past.
The British tried to placate the Arabs by giving them part of the land designated under the Palestine Mandate (originally allocated under the Balfour Declaration for the establishment of a Jewish homeland). Britain created an entirely new province by severing 77% of historic Palestine (and an additional 3% was also allocated to Syria), on the eastern bank of the Jordan River (some 35,000 square miles), and establishing the state of Transjordan.
Faisal, who had been King of Syria, was deposed by the French, so the British offered him the throne of Iraq, which he accepted. Faisal’s brother Abdullah was then installed as the new Emir of Transjordan on April 11, 1921, in attempt to appease the Arab chieftains. In 1946, the Emirate of Transjordan was upgraded to a kingdom.

It appears that the current standoff between the Israelis and the Palestinians is preferable to a two state solution.
A two state solution would not work for Israel.
Georg says
At its narrowest, Israel is something like 8 miles between the West Bank and Mediterranean. With the higher elevation of the West Bank it makes Israel indefensible, having the entire Arab world perched above it. The genocidal proclamations of the Ayatollahs and others, combined with their bankrolling of genocidal groups like the Islamic Jihad is the doing of Arabs/Muslims and they’ll have to live with the consequences of their positions. History has made it painfully apparent the Jewish people need a place of their own, and a place which is indefensible is no place at all.
gravenimage says
This is true, Georg.
But this is what all but well-meaning naifs who support the “Two State Solution” want–an Israel who cannot defend herself and her people.
Georg says
Exactly. Or, even more directly, the position of Tlaib is a “one-state solution” which is to fork it over to the Palestinian majority (this includes the “right of return” for “Palestinian refugees”) so they can commence with genocide. There is simply no other option for Jewish people except to dig in and defend themselves. 14.5 million Jews in the world, 6.5 million in Israel. There is 110 times the number of Muslims. To me, if one can’t grant them this arid strip of land, with such an unenviable geography, it is simple antisemitism. You hear so much talk about “minorities” from the left. This is a minority among minorities–and yet, pure hostility.
That aside, good to see you on here, gravenimage. Hope all is well with you. You remind me there are decent, intelligent people out there who won’t simply roll over.

Israel is digging its own grave by becoming dependent on the US for unearned assistance:
“House Resolution 246, which passed by a vote of 398-17, calls for increased security aid to Israel”
Simple logic and reasoning would make clear how dangerous a full Palestinian state would be. Whatever treaties or documents said, they would be legally entitled to stockpile military weapons and organize a military force. Israel would not legally be permitted to enter. As in Gaza, splinter jihadist groups would fire weapons periodically into Israel. Any response by the Israelis would be condemned by the usual subjects as an incursion on sovereign Palestinian territory.
The biggest danger would be when Israel becomes embroiled in military action with its neighbors. When Israel was occupied with the armies of Iraq, Syria, Iran or Lebanon, the Palestinians could attack Israel at its weakest. The only sensible way to manage is for Palestine to be an Israeli protectorate, kept at arms length and given as much autonomy as possible, consistent with the fact that the Palestinian government subsidizes and encourages Muslim terrorism towards Israel.
Israel needs to cut the umbilical cord of US aid and stop looking over its shoulder for US approval.
