It is common knowledge to every schoolboy and even every Bachelor of Arts,
That all sin is divided into two parts.
One kind of sin is called a sin of commission, and that is very important,
And it is what you are doing when you are doing something you ortant,
And the other kind of sin is just the opposite and is called a sin of omission
and is equally bad in the eyes of all right-thinking people, from
Billy Sunday to Buddha,
And it consists of not having done something you shuddha
—Ogden Nash (d. 1971), from his “Portrait Of The Artist As A Prematurely Old Man”
Denis MacEoin’s latest Gatestone essay, “Muslims Against Antisemitism” egregiously commits both Nash-ian sins against the truth, devolving into yet more apologetic disinformation on a subject already routinely obfuscated, and whitewashed.
What follows is an incomplete enumeration limited to only four of MacEoin’s major truth-denying sins which typically conjoin commission and omission.
(I) MacEoin opens his essay with a passing mention of a mere two examples of Islam’s canonical, mainstream Islamic Jew-hatred (which he also fails to identify as such), citing one verse from the Koran (5:60; see a much fuller, relevant, & honest discussion here), and a solitary hadith (see a much fuller, relevant, & honest discussion here). He ignores:
—the large corpus of Koranic Jew-hatred (see here; here; summarized here) beyond 5:60, and any of its elaboration in the truly vast universe of Koranic commentaries (here; & briefly here), which explain and in many cases amplify the virulence of this Jew-hatred
—the large corpus of Jew-hatred in the hadith (here; here) beyond one motif, which in conjunction with the Koran’s Jew-hatred, and overlapping and reinforcing themes of Jew-hatred from the sira, or earliest pious Muslim biographies of Muhammad (here; here)—omitted altogether—form the basis for the living doctrines, also omitted by MacEoin, of jihad war against the Jews, and the subservient, humiliating dhimmitude imposed upon the survivors of jihad campaigns (see my July 30, 2019 full ZOA lecture for a relatively compendious video explanation of how these Islamic materials are woven together)
—MacEoin further ignores, i.e., does not provide a single example (notwithstanding ad nauseum examples, past & present) of how these ugly motifs have been preached & utilized by mainstream institutional Islam’s most authoritative religious teaching institutions & individuals—Sunni & Shiite alike—to foment Muslim Jew-hatred, including mass murderous pogroms, across a nearly 1400- year continuum (see this 15 min video clip & this 4-min video clip)
(II) MacEoin references the ADL data, but unlike any of my own detailed, intellectually honest explorations (here; including this brief video presentation) of these remarkable data, the thin gruel he dribbles out, fails even to explain what was indeed queried and scaled, while omitting all of the following data that demonstrated a remarkable, if depressing uniformity: there is a 2 to 4.5-fold excess of Muslim Jew-hatred, relative to any other major religious affiliation, or atheism/agnosticism, and this association with Islam persists amongst the Muslim diaspora populations in Western Europe, and the U.S. Specific findings, included:
—The world’s 16 most Antisemitic countries are all in the Muslim Middle East, where 75% to 93% exhibit extreme Antisemitism—Judea-Samaria/Gaza 93%; Iraq 92%; Yemen 88%; Algeria 87%; Libya 87%; Tunisia 86%; Kuwait 82%; Bahrain 81%; Jordan 81%; Morocco 80%; Qatar 80%; United Arab Emirates 80%; Lebanon 78%; Oman 76%; Egypt 75%; Saudi Arabia 75%
—The prevalence of extreme Antisemitism in Western Europe—Belgium, 68% of Muslims vs. 21% of the general population; Spain, 62% of Muslims vs. 29% of the general population; Germany, 56% of Muslims vs. 16% of the general population; Italy, 56% of Muslims vs. 29% of the general population; United Kingdom, 54% of Muslims vs. 12% of the general population; France, 49% of Muslims vs. 17% of the general population
—The prevalence of extreme Antisemitism in the U.S., 34% of Muslims vs. 14% of the general population
—The prevalence of extreme Antisemitism, globally, by religious affiliation—Muslim, 49%; Christian, 24%; No religion, 21%; Hindu, 19%; Buddhist, 17%
(III) NONE of the so-called “Muslims Against Antisemitism” MacEoin invokes and lionizes have ever openly acknowledged Islam’s uniquely voluminous corpus of canonical Jew-hating motifs, nor condemned their ongoing inculcation by Islam’s most authoritative mainstream teach institutions, Sunni, or Shiite, and the individual heads of such institutions, such as Al-Azhar University’s last two Grand Imams, or Shiism most profound modern “theo-sopher” Allameh Tabatabai. Moreover, MacEoin fails to acknowledge two courageous Muslim conscientious objectors to Islam, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, and Yasmine Muhammad, who do in fact enunciate with brutal honesty the true canonical Islamic roots and scope of Islamic Jew-hatred.
(IV) MacEoin fails to call for what Islam truly needs to (barely) begin to expunge its institutional, canonical Islamic Jew-hatred: wrenching, mea culpa-based Vatican II/Nostre Aetate paradigm reforms.
Angemon says
I believe the numbers for the general population would be lower were it not for the decades of having the big lie repeated over and over: Jews were targeted for extermination in WWII and the moment they found a safe haven started doing to the “Palestinians” what the Nazis tried to do to them. Especially amongst communists.
Cicero says
It is very puzzling ( to me at least ) how Western intellectuals persist in white washing the “ whited sepulchre “ that is Islam. They refuse to evaluate impartially the evidence which is being thrown up daily namely that Islam is a twisted ideology born out of blood and being transmitted through blood shed

Gatestone has always struck me as weak. This critique is devastating.

Didn’t think Gatestone could be so bad at this….
What’ll be the next disappointment?

Sin is an imaginary disease, requiring an imaginary cure. Some religious creep will sell it to you, if you have enough money.

*Of course* Myles doesn’t consider antisemitism to be a bad thing. On another thread, he was condoning the murder of a 17-year-old Jewish girl:

Having no standards is a very serious disease. It leads to being numb as a boot, and dead from the neck up.
Look in the mirror.

Mean spirited Myles is demonically possessed.
Myles misses the mark, which is what sinning is about.
Myles is separating himself from God, which sinning promotes.
Myles is headed toward a bad end. He may need some love ❤️

Kish says
Most of the article is great. But I do not understand or simply disagree with the last paragraph regarding vatican II style reforms. Those reforms were to remove a typical belief and practice that was actually NOT a teaching of Jesus. That is not transferable to Islam since the Jihad violence is a core teaching of Mohammad. A reform goes back to the original core teaching. For Islam that means more jihad violence, not less.
gravenimage says
Good point, Kish. I think the main point is that there is no attempt here to address the core antisemitism of Islam in any canonical fashion–nor could there be.

Apparently there is a rumor afloat that Al-Azhar will be officially
rolling out some form of Islam ☪️ — sans violent jihad!
It comes with rainbow skittles flavored cotton candy served

No, really! We’ve been assured of this breakthrough!

Gatestone Institute is a conservative think tank with a focus on Islam and the Middle East. It was founded in 2008 by Nina Rosenwald, who serves as its president. Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John R. Bolton, now national security advisor, was its chairman from 2013 to March 2018. Its current chairman is Amir Taheri.
The Gatestone Institute’s personnel include Nina Rosenwald (President), and Naomi H. Perlman (Vice President). Amir Taheri is the Chairman of Gatestone Europe. John R. Bolton the former Chairman and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, received at least $310,000 from the organization until 2013, and in 2018 he resigned to become the National Security Advisor to President Donald Trump. Its authors include Nonie Darwish, Alan Dershowitz, Raymond Ibrahim, Denis MacEoin, Daniel Pipes, Raheel Raza, Khaled Abu Toameh, Geert Wilders, Janusz Wójcik, Bat Ye’or, Josef Zbořil and Dexter Van Zile.
Rebekah Mercer, a billionaire heiress known for her donations to right-wing causes, was listed as a Gatestone board member in April 2017. When the foreign policy-focused website LobeLog inquired about her role in the organization, Gatestone removed all information about her from their website. It was later revealed that Mercer Family Foundation gave $150,000 to Gatestone in 2014 and 2015. Gatestone had a revenue of $2.3 million in 2016.
The organization describes itself as a “non-partisan, not-for-profit international policy council and think tank is dedicated to educating the public about what the mainstream media fails to report.” The organization believes that traditional news outlets conduct insufficient and, as a result, misleading reporting on critical issues, and thus it distributes its own information about events in the Middle East and Muslim populations in other parts of the world.
Anti-Muslim bias
The Gatestone Institute has been frequently described as “anti-Muslim”, regularly publishes false reports to stoke anti-Muslim fears, and has published false stories pertaining to Muslims and Islam. Gatestone frequently warns of a looming “jihadist takeover” and “Islamization” of Europe, leading to a “Great White Death”. Gatestone authors have a particular interest in Germany and Sweden, and frequently criticize leaders such as Macron and Merkel.
Gatestone has published the writings of Geert Wilders. It hosted a 2012 talk by Wilders and paid for a trip he made to the United States in 2016. Gatestone has been criticized for affiliating itself with Wilders, who says that he “hates Islam.”
Alina Polyakova, a Brookings Institution fellow and expert on far-right populism, said that Gatestone’s content “was clearly anti-immigrant” and “anti-Muslim”.
Policy analyst J. Dana Stuster of the National Security Network, writing in The Hill, criticized Gatestone as “paranoid” for claiming that immigration to Europe was “civilization jihad” and a “Muslim invasion”.
Alan Dershowitz, a Gatestone Institute fellow, disputed that the organization was anti-Muslim, stating that it had “numerous Muslims” and that “many of Gatestone’s articles are, in fact, pro-Muslim”.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations has accused Gatestone’s founder, Nina Rosenwald, of anti-Muslim bias. Muslim writers for the Gatestone Institute have defended the organization and Rosenwald against the claims by CAIR. Zuhdi Jasser said, “It goes without saying, but to those who may not know Nina, and having known her now for many years, it is clear to me that she has the highest respect for Muslims who love their faith, love God, and take seriously our Islamic responsibility to defeat the global jihad and its Islamist inspiration.”

Crusader: Why do you constantly repeat Leftist propaganda in the comments? I saw you do it regarding me and some others recently, and now this. If you keep this up, you will most assuredly be banned from commenting. The Leftists and Islamic supremacists have plenty of platforms for their defamation. They don’t need this one.

Here here! We’ve heard and read the stuff “crusader” puts out from others. Repeating it on this forum helps no one. Thankyou Robert.
Mario Alexis Portella says
There are good Muslims and there are bad Muslims. The impression one gets from Gatestone is that Islam can be reformed, which it cannot! As Erdogan said, “Islam is Islam!” The sooner this is accepted by Westerners who think we can have a dialogue with Islam, the better. As Andrew Bostom says, take a look at the Islamic sources.

I’ve always wondered what is preached and practiced in the mosques attended by “ good” practicing Muslims like Zudhi Jasser and Raheel Raza. It would be so helpful to see these apparently reformed Islamic teachings on You Tube for example. What verses of the Koran they quote etc.
gravenimage says
Actually, Zudhi Jasser was kicked out of his Mosque for preaching a peaceful Islam, and has not been able to find another Mosque that will allow him to attend. That says it all…
RightWingCrusader says
Some authors of Gatestone preffer have tact to have a limit. Shut up uncomfortable truths in the name of showing reasonable.
RightWingCrusader says
I don’t doubt that there are some people that calls themselves Muslims (like Miss Iraq, Raheel Raza or Imam Tawhidi) which hold liberal democracy’s values, and have proWestern views, but they can’t deny that Islam is essencially antisemitic

It’s ironic. I was explaining to a lady in her 50s, whilst in a pub in England, yesterday, that everything Islamic hates Jews.
I told her about Khaybar, and the final hours ‘quote.’ She had no idea about this.
I also told her that EVERY supposed moderate Muslim I’ve ever met – NOT hyperbole – has uttered comments from –
The Holocaust didn’t happen / was grossly exaggerated
The Jews control the World etc…..
This usually comes from the mouths of Pakistani and Bangladeshi people in the UK.
