As The Complete Infidel’s Guide to Iran shows, the Islamic Republic of Iran has wanted war with the United States for a very long time. They may be trying to bring it about now in order to topple Trump, who has stymied them with new sanctions: the American Left will be able to blame Trump for the war and claim that the Iran nuke deal would have prevented it. Or at very least, they hope to drive up oil prices, which will harm the American economy and thereby help elect the Democratic candidate in 2020. The Iranian mullahs are far more effective in making the case for the Democrats than the Democrats themselves.
“Iran warns of ‘all-out war’ if US retaliates in wake of Saudi oil facility bombings,” by Greg Norman, Fox News, September 19, 2019:
Iran warned Thursday that an “all-out war” could break out if any country attacks it following weekend bombings of Saudi Arabia’s oil facilities that the U.S. believes Tehran orchestrated.
Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif’s stark message to CNN comes a day after U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo tweeted that the “Iranian regime’s threatening behavior will not be tolerated.”
“I am making a very serious statement that we don’t want to engage in a military confrontation,” Zarif said in an interview with the channel. “But we won’t blink to defend our territory.”
When asked what would be the consequence of a U.S. or Saudi strike, Zarif said: “All-out war.”
It would cause “a lot of casualties,” he added.
Pompeo, who arrived in the United Arab Emirates on Thursday, said America is always pushing for a peaceful resolution.
America’s top diplomat met earlier Thursday with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Jeddah over Saturday’s attack on a crucial oil processing facility and oil field, which halved the kingdom’s oil production. Yemen’s Iranian-backed Houthi rebels have claimed the attack, but the U.S. alleges Iran carried out the assault….

Savvy Kafir says
Better yet, let’s just go ahead and protect the USA ourselves. We need to start by dealing with the enemies within — Muslim colonizers & their politically correct, Islam-friendly allies. Restoring a proper appreciation of America will have to be a key part of the strategy.

Didn’t Obama grew and groomed Iran? Didn’t Obama give Iran Billions $$ and 116 Tons of Uranium?
John Connor says
Mr. Spencer, you seem to understand Iran and their actions better than most of our Government. Very sad how little the Media understands Iranian aggression as well.
As we all who know history remember, The Western powers did not confront Hitler in the 1930’s right off, but were happy to do little to stop him, until WW II came about. Let us all pray that History is not repeating itself.

Yeah, we sided with the Communists against Hitler… that worked out really well for the world.
Oh! And we actively turned away Jews looking for political sanctuary, while supporting American big business, like Nazi lover Henry Ford, to do business with the Nazis.
And the Military Industrial Complex needs its money…
Let’s be real, World War Two was not as righteous as you think.
There is a reason why our founding fathers outlawed a professional military and opted for an armed populace instead.

We had no choice but to side with the USSR in fighting Hitler and although there are a few things we could have done better in that regard it didn’t turn out too badly.
Otherwise I agree 100% with your post. Also I suspect that the munitions industry would not be too unhappy if Iran and Saudi Arabia had a nice little limited war that required replenishing Saudi’s armory. However, “nice little limited wars” are not what they used to be. It’s no time for the U.S. to play cowboy.

Many were in denial over the Nazi threat. Once that threat became clear, we did indeed fight and defeat Fascism–at great cost.
Yes, allying with the Soviet Union was awful–but grimly necessary under the circumstances.
James Lincoln says
Quite true, gravenimage.
Post-World War II, our alliance with the Soviet Union was gone in a New York minute.

Yes, James.

Yep, that “war” with Iran would last 45 minutes. What does an Iranian soldier say to his leaders the day after losing the war when they ask him what he did?
“I ran”

Somehow I doubt that Iran is looking forward to war with the U.S.. Nor should we be looking forward to one either — confronting Iran is much more complicated than confronting Iraq was and we know how badly that was misjudged.
BTW. A misreading of the history of the 1930s only muddies the waters. There were lots of reasons why Britain, France and the U.S, did not confront Hitler earlier than they did and “happiness” had nothing to do with it.

There was a lot of willful denial over the Nazis being a threat. Many in the West ignored the signs for years, and then paid a heavy price to finally defeat Fascism.
Westman says
Does anyone remember when Iraq’s foreign minister was making the same noise? Then, the war was in the planning stages as it might be now.
Iran’s leaders are only making this fear-based threat because an attack is exactly what they would have done in similar circumstances. They only have two modes: aggression or play victim. We can be certain that if Saudi Arabia had sent a UAV attack on Iran’s oil production, there would have been a military response.
Infidel says
Yeah, we’re sure scared of Iran actually winning a war w/ us – w/ Iranian commandos storming the beaches of San Francisco, New York and Chicago
If we simply do nothing, Iran would be dried up. Right now, the people they’re trading w/ – North Korea, Syria – can’t do squat for them! Only thing they can do is lash out at the Saudis and others who’re still using shipping across the Straits of Hormuz. And they’d sure have the advantage over the Saudis if all out war broke out. But if they are stupid enough to drag us into it, we could do this attack right – knock off the Iran regime just like we did Saddam, but not follow it up w/ an occupation but instead let Iran descend into chaos, while suggesting to the Europeans and Arabs to have a travel ban to and from Iran
And yeah, there’s no reason to retaliate for the bombings, when we didn’t retaliate for our own drone being downed. In neither case were there any US casualties
CogitoErgoSum says
Maybe they can hijack some Iranian airliners and fly them into some tall buildings in Tehran, then blame it all on Iraq.

Let’s not confuse ourselves with Muslims…
Rueben_Singh says
The tragedy of this situation is that Iran and Saudi arabia do not have a land border. This is a sunni vs shia conflict. Let them fight it out.
The mullahs are going to fall, it is inevitable.
All the west has to do is join forces and support the secular resistance.
If the USA does engage it should strictly be the IRGC & regime loyalists.
TKF says
If only the layabout, inbred sand-apes of the Saudi royal family and the fanatic, insane turban and beard wielding Mullahs of Iran could manage to completely destroy each other it would be a win-win for the entire civilized world. They both stink on ice.
ntesdorf says
Muslims have a grand traditon of fighting each other and Saudi Arabia and Iran are well placed as Sunnis and Shiites to carry on the tradition. Others should resist the temptation to get involved.

That is a threat. It looks to me like it is time to take on Iran.
James Lincoln says
Maybe time to double or triple the capacity of our strategic petroleum reserves…

Then US should stay out of it, and let the Muslims destroy each other.
