In a groundbreaking rally attended by tens of thousands of cheering Indian-Americans, President Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi “declared themselves united in a relentless fight against ‘terrorism’ and vowed ‘a close, personal alliance.'”
The rally comes at a significant time. Not only is Pakistan a known state funder of jihad terror, which prompted the Trump administration to cancel $300,000,000 in aid to Pakistan last year, but India is now in a renewed and escalating conflict with Pakistan over the disputed territory of Kashmir.
“Without actually naming Pakistan,”, but alluding to it, Modi referred to Pakistan’s leaders as those who “shield terrorism and nurture it.” Modi continued: “The whole world knows them very well. Their identity is in the sponsorship of terror and the world knows it.” He is right. Against the backdrop of the momentous rally are serious threats of nuclear war coming from Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan. In Mid-august, Khan threatened to “teach Delhi a lesson” and vowed a “fight until the end against any Indian violations in disputed Kashmir.” Then later in the month, Khan escalated his threats of a nuclear war with India over Kashmir.
“Trump, Modi vow relentless fight on extremists in mass rally,” New Straits Times, September 23, 2019:
HOUSTON: US President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday declared themselves united in a relentless fight against “terrorism,” vowing a close, personal alliance in front of tens of thousands of Indian-Americans.
The two leaders, like-minded nationalists fond of fiery rallies and skeptical of traditional media, heaped praise on each other in an unusual joint appearance inside a football stadium in Houston.
To the bhangra beats of four drummers in saffron turbans, Trump in his dark suit and Modi in a yellow kurta and vest made a grand entrance with arms clenched together to ecstatic cheers from a crowd estimated by organizers at 50,000.
Trump won his biggest applause when he told the crowd, many wearing the saffron of India’s right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party, “We are committed to protecting innocent civilians from the threat of radical Islamic terrorism.”
Taking the flavor of one of Trump’s own boisterous rallies, Modi later asked the crowd to give a standing ovation to Trump for his stance.
Trump has stood by the Indian leader during controversial decisions this year, including his revocation of autonomy for Muslim-majority Kashmir and his order for jets to enter Pakistani territory in response to a suicide bombing.
With Trump watching in the front row and listening to the translation, Modi made clear reference to rival Pakistan, which controls part of Kashmir and has sought to rally international attention over the Himalayan territory.
Modi said he was seeking equal status and development for Kashmir, adding that his actions were “causing discomfort to some people unable to manage their own country” and who “nurture terrorism.”
“These people have put their hatred of India at the center of their political agenda,” Modi said.
India has also faced strong criticism from human rights experts for shutting down virtually all internet and cellular communications across much of Kashmir….

Islamic terrorism.
Trump said it. We can all say it now.

I’d prefer that the “it” said by President Trump would be “Jihad terror” instead of “Islamic terror”. Jihadi terror goes directly the contents of Islam as set forth in the Holy Ko-Ran, plus tends to deflect discourse from the obligatory genuflection to the fiction of “Islamic extremism” and other such bilge. Islam must be the most “hijacked” religion ever.
Daniel Triplett says
Well, actually he says “radical” Islamic terrorism. Progress, but he still has a ways to go.
He should drop the words “radical” and “terrorism” altogether. Islam is the threat.

True–still better than what most Western leaders are saying.
Daniel Triplett says
Agreed. It’s progress. Pleasing.
All Western leaders ought to study Viktor Orban speeches, and emulate.

When they discussed illegal immigration, the underlying subject was Bangladesh. India doesn’t have a porus border w/ Pakistan, since they’ve fought 4 wars. But their border w/ Bangladesh would make the US-Mexico border look like Trump’s wall (before Mexico put 27,000 troops on the border.) India has been working on citizenship lists in their border stattes w/ Bangladesh to determine who is or isn’t Indian, and that would go a long way to preventing terrorism. Particularly since ISIS and other Jihadist groups now use Bangladesh as their hub of activity against India, given how easy it is to get into Left Bengal.
In the meantime, the woke Dems have gone all out pro-Muslim, the latest being Bernie in condemning India for its moves in Kashmir. As it is, they’ve been turning off Jews, and soon HIndus as well. While Indian-Americans voted 57% for Hillary in 2016, I wonder whether they’ll continue to prefer the Dems in 2020, despite the clear chemistry that Trump and Modi share

Thank you President Trump for doing what needs to be done regarding islam. My only hope is that he doubles-triples his efforts against that threat, and keeps sending out that message to “Make America Great Again!” It’s a good message to want to make your own nation great, and why not? What have we to be ashamed about? We know we’re not perfect with our democracy, but no nation ever is. We are the freest and most charitable nation on earth, we have every reason to be proud. A smart nation doesn’t give and give until they destroy their self. They should give in proper measure to help others while preserving their own principled laws and safety. That’s why President Trump is confronting islam. Our president knows the threat islam truly is to the civilized world, and he’s doing his part to meet that challenge. I’m sure there’s hundreds of millions of good souls on this planet who are rooting for our president, because they too know of the threat islam brings to every Western nation (and really, the whole world, because islam hurts everyone including muslims.) I had my doubts in the beginning about Trump, just because someone criticizes islam doesn’t mean they’re fit to be president. But I believe he’s grown well in his position and I can honestly say I feel proud of the work he’s doing. Yes, sometimes he makes me cringe with what he says, but he’s fundamentally a good person and capable in his job. And most importantly to me, he understands islamic jihad and how that threatens our peace and freedoms. And for that, I kiss the sky.
If a humanitarian god exists then I pray She blesses our president with the ability to deal effectively with our leftist traitors and slanderers. His office deserves far more respect than it’s getting, and the left should be ashamed for the things they say and do against him.
