My latest in PJ Media:
Princeton Professor Robert George, a very public Catholic intellectual, has published a piece in the left-leaning Jesuit magazine America saying: “I urge my fellow Christians of all traditions to remember how much we share with faithful Muslims.” He declares that “Christians and Muslims must, as never before, join hands to bear witness to God’s sovereignty, to God’s love for each and every member of the human family, to God’s desire that we lead upright lives.” But as is always the case with exhortations such as this one, note how one-sided it is. Robert George tells Christians not to hate Muslims, which is a very good thing for him to tell them, but he never says a word about trying to get Muslims not to hate Christians.
George says: “Let Christians and Muslims never again regard each other as enemies. Let us rather recognize each other as brothers and sisters under the fatherhood of ‘the one God, living and subsisting in Himself; merciful and all-powerful, the Creator of heaven and earth.’”
But as far as this article is concerned, the onus is entirely on the Christian side to build bridges and make peace. One may argue that George is a Christian, and so he doesn’t presume to preach to Muslims, and that’s all very well, but where are his “dialogue” partners, who include the American converts to Islam Hamza Yusuf and Ismail Royer, issuing similar exhortations to Muslims to regard Christians as friends and allies, and to lay aside direct and explicit Qur’anic commands not do so?
Here is that command: “O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you – then indeed, he is of them. Indeed, Allah guides not the wrongdoing people. (Qur’an 5:51)
Does Robert George even know that this verse exists? Does he think there are no Muslims who take it seriously? The renowned and eminently mainstream Qur’an commentator Ibn Kathir explains it this way: “Allah forbids His believing servants from having Jews and Christians as friends, because they are the enemies of Islam and its people, may Allah curse them.”
Will Robert George’s dialogue partners tell him what they’re doing to mitigate the force of this passage and other anti-Christian material in the Qur’an and Hadith?…
There is much more. Read the rest here.

ISLAM is the direct opposite of America’s CONSTITUTION. Both can never coincide, hold hands, or agree on anything because ISLAM IS ALL NEGATIVE FREEDOMS and the U.S. CONSTITUTION is all PRO-FREEDOMS. Once the 2nd Amendment goes, the rest will follow.

I’m pretty sure the Muslim is ordered to wash his hands after holding hands with a normal human being. I’m more sure that he is instructed NOT to hold hands with normal people.
p.s. I know I’m generalizing about Muslims but have reached the point where saying “I am referring to people who strictly follow the Quran and Hadith and other beliefs in their sect of Islam” is redundant and implies the ideology of Islam is worthy of respect. Whenever I slip up, this is what I mean.

It is not a major generalisation. I have read of only one muslim that actively speaks out against jihad and has earned death threats as a result. There being only one voice of a multitude please continue to generalise. If you want to be precise – “all but one”.

Indeed. Give them free use of the Vatican facilities, including cleaning out the supermarket and camping out on the grounds. Give ’em a tour of the Sistine. In fact, leave it open for them to contemplate in privacy. Islam’s destruction of the artistic heritage of the West has to start somewhere, and neither Prof. George nor the current Pope seem to give a damn where that is.
But then Prof. George only considers me to be of any worth as a mere human in the context of a supernatural being in which I am rationally unable to believe, so why would he care if it horrifies me to see such treasures put at risk by being offered up to savages?

Here is something inordinately shameful: namely, a self-styled ‘intellectual’ who apparently has not read the Koran, Sira, Bukhari, the canonical commentaries (tafsirs), manuals of Sharia law, or the history of Jews and Christians and Hindus under Islam, and yet, preposterously, Robert George presents himself as a spontaneous expert on Islam.
An actual, real ‘INTELLECTUAL’ would do the above reading list BEFORE HE COMMENTED on the possibility of coexistence between Christianity (which separates church and state) and Islam (which does NOT separate, but firmly UNITES the MOSQUE and the Islamic state).
How can a secular state coexist with a 100% THEOCRATIC, AUTHORITARIAN STATE? It can’t.
The differences between Western, Christian societies and Islamic societies are two-fold.
Western societies operate under 1) critical thought and 2) the Golden Rule.
Islamic societies operate under 1) authoritarian thought and 2) the dualistic ‘apartheid’ rule.
TWO MAJOR INCOMPATIBILITIES that can never be resolved.
Islam is unable to adopt critical thought or the Golden Rule.
Robert George is a ‘spontaneous’ intellectual.

To read the koran, hint, find and read it in chronological order. Note the abrogation verses and what that means.
More than likely the friendly mosque would even gift you a koran, if you ask.
Then note as Mortimer says, basic sources, hadith, sira and consider the histories of the islamic areas and peoples.
Also why this guy, an intellectual, who like many in academia who speak on things in relation to islam, not read the sources.
Is it truth they seek or just tenure with a good sinecure.
I guess “follow the money”
This also applies to many in the media, editors, journalists, talking heads on radio or tv, etc..
An afternoon’s reading, just of the koran?
Politicians surely all in the name of knowing maybe a part of their muslim constituency, should also read, just for the sake of background.
Judiciary, Police, should also read, as often they have closer dealings with muslims.
So why do they not read?
I know it is a tedious, jumbled up, repetitious, long winded book, but there are many advisory aids, and as I mention, chronological order is a major help; and done in a few hours.

It might be pretty easy, but not in the context that Mr. Spencer projects. Francis (I don’t think he is actually a pope – but different topic) is probably the false prophet who is trying to unite the world religions for the antichrist. For some reason, the banking folks are all behind this, as well. Of course, most people won’t go for the one-world religion, but they will have to suffer the financial consequences. In any event, George might be tipping his hat to the one-world religion.
In the Muslim eschatological events they have an antichrist type of guy, but they are encouraged to follow him.
With the pope pushing the antichrist agenda, and with the Muslims preconditioned to go that route, and with the money men pushing a common religion, George and many more like him will probably follow the whole mess down the toilet.
James says
I do not think that Islam and Christianity share much in common. Otherwise the Muslims would not have conquered the Balkans and Iberia and imposed the jeszias tax on non-Muslims. They would not be destroying religious architecture, books and art of other religions that are not Islam. they would not be supporting the unequal roles and rights of women and men or practices like FGM, honor killing, child marriages, the discriminatory, hierarchical ways that people are seated in mosques. They would not be blocking traffic to pray in the street. They would not be demanding all sorts of Islamization of Western society. I do not think there is anything at all in common. The nicest people from Islamic societies are the ones who do not practice Islam or believe in its doctrines. They are often very nice persons, better than many Christians for that matter. But that is not a formula for Christianity and Islam to link hands, but rather for Islam to be abandoned for the sake of humanity. No offense intended, however.

Good post, James.
But which Muslims are better than many Christians? There must be some individuals, just statistically, but in this case they are those who are ignoring the diktats of their faith.

I have long wondered at the peculiar tense in this admonition, which is addressed to “you who have believed”. Why is it not addressed to “you who believe”? Does the Arabic really use the equivalent of the present-perfect tense, “you who *have believed*”? Is this advice not to take Jews or (and?) Christians as friends really addressed to people who used to believe in Islam, but are no longer believing Muslims?
Save Europe says
Okay. I rationalise that it’s quite straightforward. Judaism and Christianity existed roughly 600 years before Islam.
Thus, Muslims were all once, non Muslim. Islam came along to nullify and succeed both of those two faiths. However, I’m being unfair to others – for example, it wiped out Buddhism in Afghanistan. It seeks to nullify everything.
What I’m trying to say is – after Mo converted people who had not/never been Muslim, in the past – his words – ‘O you who have believed’ is referring to their previous faiths. He’s addressing the converts to Islam. His faithful.

Put on some thick gloves, grab both their hands and shake hard…to release any knives up the sleeves, and to prevent the moslim from using one of his hands to wield said knife on the neck of the Christian.. Or to plunge said knife into the chest or abdomen of said Christian.
The Bible warns of getting involved in the arguments of others, and likens such to “taking hold of the ears of a dog.”
You can’t let go or the dog will bite, but you can’t hold on forever. Holding hands with moslims is foolhardy and will only lead to the Christian getting injured…bodily and spiritually.
Jesus Christ gives all of the advice one needs when it comes to spiritual things and with whom we should be friends. He warned that His enemies would “hate” and “persecute” Christians. His brother James also wrote, “Friendship with the world is enmity with God.” “One becoming a friend of the world, is making himself an enemy of God.”
moslims imitate satan the devil…lying and deceit are part of their daily lives. Murder and rape are encouraged in their evil book. They regularly, ‘do to others what they would not wish done to them’ and even complain and whine when non moslims protest the rape and murder in which moslims engage.
If anyone follows this fool’s advice, he should also suffer the consequences for saying such evil things.
Liars and those who engage in evil will not escape punishment for their wrongs.
If this last is something to which others object, just remember, even a boss will fire an employee for doing things of which the boss does not approve. And a parent will take away privileges when a child is disobedient.

What a fantasy land this fool inhabits where he thinks that vicious Islam can ever get along peacefully with Christians or other non-Muslims. Islam is full of hatred for all non-Muslims. Christianity and Islam are complete opposites. This professor might be smart and informed on some subjects, but, on Islam, he knows nothing. The fantasy world people like this man inhabit is dangerous, because some people actually believe the garbage they come out with. This term “intellectual” is a very vague term. If you are blabbing on about something that you know nothing about, then you are a fool, hardly an intellectual. The nonsense that this professor has come up with makes me think of the saying that is usually ascribed to George Orwell, where he is supposed to have said, “Some ideas are so stupid that only intellectuals fall for them”. The media, academia and political circles also seem to be full of fantasists (when it comes to Islam) like this man.

Sadly, Robert George left the reservation regarding such matters years ago. He also brags about his friendship with super left wing nutjob Cornel West, and so in public together they are lovey dovey, yet West holds polar opposite views than George does on many issues. It’s one thing to be civil; it’s another thing to prop up morons and their moronic beliefs by not sufficiently challenging them in public even if such might lead to a strain in the friendship.
And so George has also botched big time regarding Islam under the seriously mistaken belief that there is some element within Islam that will somehow overcome the essence of what Islam is and always was.

// In 838, after a decades-long stalemate, the caliph—at the head of eighty thousand slaves—burst into Amorium, one of the Eastern Roman Empire’s largest and most important cities.
They burned and razed it to the ground and slaughtered countless; everywhere there were “bodies heaped up in piles,” writes Michael the Syrian. The invaders locked those who sought sanctuary inside their churches and set the buildings aflame; trapped Christians could be heard crying “kyrie eleison”—“Lord have mercy!”—while being roasted alive. Hysterical “women covered their children, like chickens, so as not to be separated from them, either by sword or slavery.”
About half of the city’s seventy thousand people were slaughtered, the rest hauled off in chains. There was such a surplus of human booty that when the caliph came across four thousand male prisoners he ordered them executed on the spot.
Because there “were so many women’s convents and monasteries” in this populous Christian city, “over a thousand virgins were led into captivity, not counting those that had been slaughtered. They were given to the Moorish and Turkish slaves, so as to assuage their lust,” laments the chronicler. (One wonders if Mu‘tasim had enticed his slaves beforehand by regaling them with stories of how Byzantine women, including nuns, were especially good at and eager to have intercourse, as Abbasid luminaries had claimed.)
Among the many slaves the caliph carted off were forty-two notables, mostly from the military and clerical classes. During their lengthy captivity in Iraq they were repeatedly ordered to accept Islam but refused; in 845, after seven years of torture and temptation failed to make them renounce Christ for Muhammad, they were beheaded and their bodies dumped into the Euphrates River. (The Eastern Orthodox Church still commemorates their martyrdom on March 6.) // (Sword and Scimitar, Raymond Ibrahim)

1.The 2nd Chief Commandment of God{Lev 19:18}”Love thy neighbor” is MISSING in islam
{the classification of humanity into muslims as “the best of people” and Jews and christians as “the worst of people” in the koran means muslims,by seeing themselves as SUPERIOR to non -muslims k3:110 are not in a position to “love thy neighbor”}
islam:1,400 years of “DO NOT Love thy neighbor” as he is an infidel who can be forced to convert to islam, jizya taxed or murdered.

As some of you may have noted from my recent posts, this month I am reading Raymond Ibrahim’s book ‘Sword and Scimitar’. I highly recommend it.
It’s a melancholy tale of countless Muslim aggressions, going all the way back to Muhammad’s threatening letter to the Byzantine Emperor Heraclius, ordering him to submit if he wanted ‘peace’.
Trying to get a handle on this endless war, I searched around for a suitable analogy. The one that best seems to fit is that of the robots in the Terminator movies.
I remember going to see Terminator 2 when it first came out. The T-1000 liquid metal terminator was a revelation, both for its cutting-edge special effects and for the chilling sense of menace it created.
The whole film was dominated by this sense of dread, that a powerful foe was after you, an enemy that was hostile, relentless and implacable.
That’s kind of how I see Islamism these days. We have to oppose it otherwise we are lost. Imagine if John Connor had said, ”So I’ve got a killer robot from the future after me. Who cares? The danger is not real, or it’s been exaggerated. I’ll just carry on with my normal life.”
This Princeton professor (read: comfortably cocooned privileged individual) says Islam poses no threat to us. He should inform himself of the facts before spouting such nonsense.

Further, it is an unspoken rule that you cannot call a proud atheist an idolater, no matter how many times he reveals his worship of self, science, state, cosmos, historical necessity, freedom, or any of the other little gods established by enlightenment and post-enlightenment thought. Hence, the poor, deluded George thinks that just because Muslims claim they worship the same God as the Christians, and honor Moses and Jesus as prophets, there must be a large common ground.

No Christian should ever “join hands” with Muslims since Islam denies the Crucifixion (in Sura 4), and thus the Resurrection, the Trinity too, as well as being highly derogatory about Christians in general in its wretched holy book, examples being Sura 9:29 and Sura 98:6, wanting them subordinate to Muslims, contra Judaism, though said religion does indeed not look upon Jesus the same way as Christians do but which religion neither wants to subordinate Christians in this world as Islam most surely does (and every other non-Muslim as well). There is also the matter of the reputed founder of Islam, Mohammed, who exhibits many times over the character of a charlatan, fraud, narcissist and brutal psychopath—start rotten and you stay rotten as Islam has done to the present.
Show me a Christian who extends respect to Islam and I will show you a very foolish human being. No exceptions. None. Might as well be dedicated to democracy and yet extend respect to Marxism or Nazism. Really no difference.
Islam is not only a mortal enemy of the West because it is a mortal enemy of liberty, but it is also a mortal enemy of Christianity, the People of the Book nonsense notwithstanding. Holy Hell, this ain’t rocket science, though in the Age of Nonsense in which we live you’d think it was.
But it ain’t. No, not at all. Indeed, ANY Christian who extends respect to Islam, “joins hands” with Islam, is an ipso facto betrayer of their faith. This would, of course, include the current pontifex maximus who may very well be the single worst and most destructive Pope of all time.
Michael Poulin says
Traditional Catholics agree 100%. It is important to realize that there is a de-facto schism in the Catholic Church going on right now; those who actually hold the faith are the minority, and the so-called “leadership” is rife with heresy, apostasy, perversion and a general worldliness…including the clown from Argentina…
Wellington says
Yep, no doubt about it. There is an ecclesiastical civil war now going on in the RC Church. This is bad for Catholicism, bad for Christianity in general, bad for Western Civilization, bad for liberty, but a plus for the worst religion of all time, i.e., Islam (good for that giant idiocy, Leftism, too).
As for Francis himself, to say I have contempt for this man and those who think like him would be a gross understatement. I would close here by asserting that Francis and his ilk represent the end product of the foolishness of a previous Pope, John XXIII, who tried to fix something that wasn’t broken. In any calculation of Francis, if one does not take into account the immense harm that Vatican II (1962-1965) did, then to the extent such a calculation excludes this, then precisely to this extent will any assessment of Francis be amiss. Francis is even more an end product of Vatican II than he is of being a native of one of the more foolish regions on earth, i.e., Latin America.

Unlike what some Catholic believe, the election of the Pope is not “sanctioned by the Holy Spirit.” The cardinal electors are free to vote whomever they want, and can totally ignore any urging of the Spirit. Also, the Pope himself is subject to sin and error and is free to disregard his duties and the prompting of the Holy Spirit…It’s a free will thing…But when they err, it is the responsibility of the bishops to correct him, as St Paul rebuked St Peter to his face. And, lacking correction by the bishops, it is now up to the laity to do the correcting…

An understandable connection, somehistory, but at least the “Joker” is a fictional figure. Pope Francis, an extraordinarily damaging human being, is far more menacing than the fictional “Joker” precisely because he is a real figure in a position of great influence and power.
You know, the way things are proceeding, I think it possible, assuming truth prevails long term, which is indeed an assumption and not a given, that Pope Francis may turn out to be one of the greatest “bad guys” of our era.
To all traditional Catholics, please take note of this and question why, if Catholicism is the true faith, God would have sanctioned Bergoglio’s elevation to the throne of Saint Peter in the first place?
Ah, perhaps there is no God (personally, I admit there might be but how many who believe in God admit there might not be?) and ALL is man-made, just posing as something celestial, spiritual, beyond our understanding, etc. for ultimate reassurance that we somehow extrinsically matter rather than us being utterly alone and the universe completely indifferent to us. CES: I know you mean well, but I am personally sick of these “outlying phenomena” that may prove a religious person’s point (rather like the Koran being so perfect, a al Muslimthink, that no human could have written it). Frankly I consider it all bogus—and pathetic.
If this is the way a superior being operates, i.e., going beyond scientific and rational explanations–biochemistry, cardiology, et al.—respecting certain phenomena that requires us to believe and not doubt (and if we do doubt, then we are condemned, as even can be found in the New Testament {examples being Mark 16:16 and John 3:18}), then we are threatened one way or another, with eternal damnation.
Holy Hell, CES, why can’t you see how awful the ENTIRE RELIGIOUS REQUIREMENT put forth by sundry religions is, frankly, either bullshit or a stain on some higher power? This inability of religious people, including fine people like yourself, escapes me to this day.
Please, try to understand, as I have tried to understand religious-oriented people all my life, folks like me think that ALL, let me repeat ALL, religious explanations not only are not true but actually insult our greatest possession, i.e., our reason. I want nothing to do with a higher power who does such and who threatens through some religious literature playing games and condemning me if I don’t believe in, or do, this, that or the other thing.
You know, religious people regularly say to non-religious people, you should consider matters our way. Have you ever personally done a 180 here?
Let me put it even another way, if your God you believe in actually exists, I am not impressed and think that your God has a lot to answer for. Yeah, look at matters from a non-religious person’s perspective—like mine.
Best to you and yours. Take care.

For true Christians, the exhortations of this Catholic intelectual to embrace interfaith cooperation fall apart. That apt verse from 2 Corinthians 6:14 applies:
“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?” (KJV)
Islam denies the deity of Jesus Christ. This makes hogwash of Robert George’s quote about recognising “…each other as brothers and sisters under the fatherhood of ‘the one God, living and subsisting in Himself; merciful and all-powerful, the Creator of heaven and earth.”
Robert George naively subscribes to the three Abrahamic faiths dogma where patrilinearity is equated with spiritual lineage. In this regard true Christians are the only spiritual decendants of Abraham.
Any religion which denies the deity of Jesus Christ qualifies its followers as unbelievers. Notions of a better world through interfaith dialogue go against the exhortations of 2 Corinthians 6:14 and pertain, rather, to the emanation a one world religion- one world government.

George has been called the “most influential conservative Christian thinker” in the United States by David Kirkpatrick of the New York Times.
Even more disturbing, Muslims love this useful idiot:

George, formerly known as a Conservative Catholic, has fallen victim to his own intellectual conceit. It is a favorite ploy of Satan – especially among theologians – they gotta come up with something new and remarkable. What Jesus left us just isn’t good enough for them. Kowtowing to Islam is a de facto denial of the Divinity of Christ. Notice he only refers to God. Charlatan exposed by his own words.

To willfully ignore the violent attacks of the muslims, repeated vast numbers of times in clear disproportion to almost non existent christian attacks on muslims, is an act of aggression against christians. Lowering their ability to recognize the threat they face, reducing their ability to defend themselves, causing millions of christians to misconstrue the situation they find themselves in, at personal harm to themselves their families and their community. It is in defiance of the entire thousands of years of history of christian policy of self defense, and war against discrimination, oppression and unjust laws and policies. Even Jesus made it clear that their was an appropriate time for violence in the case of the money lenders. Yet this jesuit is attempting to undermine the christian community. He should be exposed as the non christian that he is, ridiculed and refuted at every turn. In G-d I trust.
There are A vast number of Christians who already understand and can see why hating Jews is wrong, and that whatever arrangements are necessary and of ideal benefit for the Jewish and gentile people of the world will be what is embraced, or should I say what is the will of our G-d. We haven’t even started talking about that issue yet really. If America was not A Christian nation, I feel confident that the number and percent of people who understood the unfortunate realities of racial inequality would be vastly less where Christianity A false doctrine that led people astray as their objective. So, deceptions were necessary in the past, and are still necessary in the present. Even Chabad claims that coexistence between Jews and gentiles will work one day, that the Messiah has already been here, 25 years ago, that the Jewish people have no need to move to Israel. Crazy lies, that accommodate the radical left. May the people grasp how difficult it has been to talk to them about racial inequality, and the lies that needed to be told in order to progress A little farther, and avoid their violent wrath. In G-d I trust.

“I urge my fellow Christians of all traditions to remember how much we share with faithful Muslims.”
Well, let’s see. There was 1400 years of jihad, that’s been a wonderful shared tradition. The conquest of the middle east, north Africa, and Spain, those were great shared times. So, good Christians were force to join in with the Crusades for a few hundred years. Then there was the conquest of the Balkans and Constantinople. And who can forget the pirate raids that ranged as far north as the British Isles? The Muslim slave trade that still goes on today because it was authorized by Muhammad, that’s a wonderful tradition, as is the command to hate the infidels and make war on them until they feel subdued and pay the jiziya. The persecution, humiliation, enslavement, etc. of Christians and other non-Muslims in Islamic countries, is also hoot. And what Christian doesn’t enjoy a good beheading or stoning now days? England and Islam both conquered India, of course, England passed on the murder of 100 million plus Hindus and the sex-slavery, but it’s a share tradition. If only Christians would get with the program we could create some new traditions like flying airliners into buildings, ramming people with trucks, mass stabbings, car bombings against infidels, suicide vests, sex slavery, and many more.
Yes, all those shared traditions carried out against Christians and other non-Muslims just bring us closer together and prove we worship the same moon god. Let’s remember the good old days. The next 1400 years of Islam will be even better, especially once Iran and jihadis get the atomic bomb.

The Qur’an passages below are only a few of very troubling ones with respect to Islam’s view of Christians, Jews, and other non-believers of Islam. We see Christians are accursed, Jews are pigs and apes, and other non-believers are losers.
Qur’an 9:30
The Jews call ‘Uzair a son of Allah, and the Christians call Christ the son of Allah. That is a saying from their mouth; (in this) they but imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say. Allah’s curse be on them: how they are deluded away from the Truth!
Qur’an 5:60
Say: Shall I tell you who will receive a worse reward from God? Those whom God has cursed and with whom He has been angry, transforming them into apes and swine, and those who serve the devil. Worse is the plight of these and they have strayed farther from the right path.
Qur’an 3:85
Whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the hereafter he will be one of the losers.
Qur’an 5:51
O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you, then indeed, he is one of them. Indeed, Allah guides not the wrongdoing people.

Perhaps the Learned Professor has never heard of the Muslim term SHIRK?
Greater shirk
Greater shirk or Shirke-al-Akbar means open polytheism. Muhammad describes major shirk in two forms:[2]
To associate anyone with Allah Taala as his partner (to believe in more than one god).
To associate Allah’s attributes with someone else. (Attributing, considering, or portraying Allah’s knowledge or might to being those of anyone else)
Other interpretations also derived from the Quran and the prophetic tradition (Sunnah) divide shirk into three main categories. Shirk can be committed by acting against the three different categories.
