We simply have to allow them to return home, or else they will resume their jihad, see? And once at home, what will they do? Why, resume their jihad, of course. Why is there virtually no one with common sense and courage among the leaders of Europe?
“French jihadis will launch new wave of attacks unless they are allowed to return home from Syria says anti-terror magistrate,” by Emily Webber, Mailonline, October 20, 2019:
French jihadis should be allowed to return home to prevent a new wave of attacks, an anti-terror magistrate has warned.
David De Pas, French anti-terrorist judge, said ‘knowing that these people are in the care of the judiciary’ rather that allowing them to ‘roam free’ would be better for public safety.
Turkey’s offensive against Kurdish militia in northeast Syria has sparked fears that some of the 12,000 jihadists, including thousands of foreigners, being held in Syrian Kurdish prisons could escape.
Between 60 and 70 French fighters are among those held with around 200 adults, including jihadists’ wives, being held in total, along with some 300 children, according to Paris officials.
France has so far refused to allow adults to return home in order to make them face local justice with only a few children, mostly orphans, taken back.
Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian travelled to Iraq this week to convince Baghdad to take in and try French jihadists being held in northern Syria.
However De Pas argued that instability in the region and the ‘porous nature’ of the Syrian Kurdish prison camps risked triggering ‘uncontrolled migration of jihadists to Europe, with the risk of attacks by very ideological people’.
The Turkish offensive, which has detracted the Kurds’ attention from fighting IS, could also facilitate the ‘re-emergence of battle-hardened, determined terrorist groups.’
This in turn could spur the establishment of new jihadist networks to supply ‘French citizens drawn to these groups,’ he argued.
Warning of the risk of ‘a new vicious circle’ of radicalised young French people travelling to Syria, De Pas called on the government to demonstrate ‘the political will to repatriate’ the fighters.
Last month, IS chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi urged the group’s followers to break jihadists and their family members out of prisons in Iraq and Syria….

It has become “damned if you do, damned if you don’t”.
If they DON’T give them more, they will commit terrorism, so they would rather give them more.
If they Do give them more, then they will get more, period. And commit terrorism.
Either way, the invaders get more, AND they commit terrorism, and the cycle continues.
More giving, more terrorism, more giving so there will be less terrorism, but instead there is more terrorism, so there is more giving so that there will be less terrorism, but instead there is more… and on it goes.
The fools never learn.
Just stand your ground and say no.
No matter if you win or lose, you will win because you are doing the right thing.
If you cower, you lose no matter what.

Oh, I doubt it. This is more about “political correctness” than anything else. I know a lot of leftists who think like this, and no one is paying them.
Christopher Watson says
The headline is confusing and badly translated. The judge did not mean they would be free but in prison in order to keep them confined. He felt that if they escaped in the ME they would come back to France illegally as an immigrant and cause more trouble. The problem with this view is that we still believe in a Christian/logical system which believes a term in prison will change a person’s viewpoint. This is false. It has been shown time and time again that only death will stop an Islamist. They will view any kindness or understanding as weakness. We will have to change our approach. We will have to re-examine our prison policies; we will need to re-educate our judges and completely change our policing policies. But most of this will not happen. Our democratic freedoms will be curtailed even more than has been done so far. The upper class in Britain is woefully under-educated and will allow freedom to dwindle away. The judges and the left-wing are reading from the same hand-book.

Agree Watson, in the U.S. are some if not all Judges are just as clueless, since the leftist in our country decry racism, don’t realize what the effects of hate speech laws which denies truth, fail to educate themselves about Islam and the teachings of the Quran… the requirements of the jihad verses,.we need to require this education for all in government officials, national security and restrict those who promote and decieve about this very bad movement. To know that the current state is that dems/ leftish control prosecutions…we are in a dangerous state of affairs. Our government has allowed this ignorance to proceed using calm, reasonable sounding fibs, to block awareness and in effect grow the dangerous direction….while trying to remove a President who is now trying to block entrance….however legal entrance is just as dangerous and illegal when it comes to Islam. That is why reading the Quran…explains and exposes how they duped many with the fantasy version of tolerance and peacefulness..and the universites ususally thought of as places of intelligence succumed to money and influence worst than the politicians, they have trained our youth to hate and remain or take for granted they are being told the truth, but only from dems/ leftist and not from the actual doctrine of slaughter or jihad.

Since the muslim French ummah crowd are threatening riots if they are not returned….. Erdoghan has sent his soldiers the prisons will be emptied, the guard killed, more deaths and chaos, they will be released and will be at the mercy of Erdoghan, for the foolish French woman with children at the camps and men who were brainwashed they may be targeted. Muslims kill each other. If they are returned some will kill non muslims or kiss the ground upon return. I feel for the innocents if any are in the prison. It is a frenzied mess for France but when you read the Judge wants to bring them home to prevent riots for those living in France, my first thought was he may be working for the jihadists… or he is paid or pressured by threats of violence. The money may have come in years ago for the government to allow this movement to be greeted with open arms, not caring about details of the Quran to hold a hard heart and create war where they travel for conquest. Western countries beware but they did not get a whole picture this is never ending dangerous and fatal in my opinion.

He says it’s time for countries such as Germany and France to take back the “thousands” of citizens who joined the extremist organization.
The president says European nations should take back their citizens or the U.S. may have no choice but to “let them go at your border.”

This was from a month ago, when the US still had some troops in Syria. One of the times I have completely disagreed with the president.

Context is everything, and that article (and many others) presents many of his statements both our if context, and in paraphrase… They ignore the key matter that Trump indicated those affected countries should be prosecuting those ISIS members. And it is a result of Democratic pressures to shut down GITMO and get forces out of the middle east….

Judges, presidents, prime ministers, etc., make claims of what will happen if this or that….because of what is happening all around them and they are in fear of those people..

“jihadis must be allowed to return or there will be more jihad attacks” – there will be attacks, because Europe is full of muslims and we don’t need more from them.
Ric says
David De Pas, the French anti-terrorist judge, does not appear to be anti-Jihad but another appeaser to Jihad. The terrorists who plied their lethal trade throughout the Middle East must be permitted to reenter France, as not to invite more Jihad attacks upon French soil. His utterance is far from reassuring that he or his counterparts have a grasp on the doctrines of Islam. One must ascertain that this man, a judge is either inept at the task at hand or quintessentially sufferers from France’s inherent bent to subjugation.
France and its EU counterparts by-and-large have already capitulated to the Muslim scourge; hence, it is more likely De Pas is hedging his bet, his life upon the Caliphate’s realization. France’s dependency upon other nations to rescue it from geopolitical faux-pas is no longer viable or feasible. The entirety of the faux-Democratic West suffers a similar dilemma of appeasing Islam while it dismantles its Judaeo-Christian principles and the facilitation of the equally anti-Western of Neo-Liberalism. The latter being the cobbling of political philosophy from Marxism, Nazism, and Islamism. It is not merely France that is underfoot of this contemporary affliction affecting the once-upon-a-time Western Democracies or Republics.

The best way to ensure increased Jihadi attacks is to allow the Jihadis to return “home”. This statement shows that there seems to be no person with any common sense and courage among the leaders of Europe.
Ben Kennedy says
Most people know what a Swiss Army Knife is, so on this knowledge a joke was passed around a few years ago that the French Army Knife was just like the Swiss version, but included a little white surrender flag the owner could use in case of conflict. But the joke is graveyard humor when you consider that Libya declared war on the United States during the late 1970s. Libya then sponsored terrorist activities and provided “Safe Haven” for terrorist who were wanted around the world. The UN did nothing to help civilized Western Nations cope with this and during the first term of President Reagan the Decision was made to take unilateral action against the terrorist regime in Libya. Those old enough will recall President Reagan wanted to launch American F-111 fighter bombers from England to attack Libya; this required the aircraft to overfly French Airspace. The French government screamed their rejection of that idea because they did not want to incur the wrath of the Moslem world. The mission then became much more complex and dangerous as the warplanes had to fly out over the Ocean around the French controlled area at night and requiring in flight air refueling. It was done and the attack was a resounding success (no thanks to France). There was “NO” terrorist attack anywhere in the world after that for just over a year. Then two terrorist explosions in two French Airports killed and wounded many passengers and other civilians who were in the airports at that time. Those attacks heralded a resumption of the moslem terrorist activities, and France was given no political capital by the moslems for obstructing President Reagan’s response to the moslem attacks against the United States and its properties overseas.
Later France teamed up with Germany to do under the table business in defiance of the UN Embargo against Iraq which led into the First Desert Storm & War. The embargo failed because of France & Germany continuing to sell Saddam the materials the rest of the world refused to sell him. I accuse France & Germany of causing the war because it was not clear at the time that the embargo would not work. War might have been avoided, but with the help of France & Germany, it became inevitable.

A little bit funny about the knife, but none about the other stuff. I recall the situation with Libya and the U.S. and flying of the planes you described. Fear and stupidity seem to go hand in hand much of the time.
