“I’m reading that there are those who are asking for tortellini without meat. It’s like proposing wine without grapes.”
The principle is always and everywhere the same: in Muslim countries, one must conform one’s behavior to suit Muslim sensibilities. And in non-Muslim countries, one must conform one’s behavior to suit Muslim sensibilities.
“Leave them; they are blind guides. And if a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.” (Matthew 15:14)
“‘Unacceptable’ row over pork-free tortellini – diocese,” ANSA, October 1, 2019 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):
(ANSA) – Bologna, October 1 – The diocese of Bologna, which has ordered Muslim-friendly pork-free tortellini for Friday’s feast of patron saint Petronius, on Tuesday said the row over the case was “unacceptable”.
The diocese has replaced pork, which Muslims do not eat for religious reasons, with chicken in the famed Bolognese speciality.
The curia said “fake news” had been generated on the case and “a normal rule of welcome and respect towards guests has been interpreted as an offence against tradition”.
Nationalist leaders including League chief Matteo Salvini have slammed the move saying Italy is forgetting its history and identity….
“I’m reading that there are those who are asking for tortellini without meat. It’s like proposing wine without grapes,” he said.
“Oriana Fallaci was right. The problem is some Italians forgetting their roots, denying our history, from tortellini to the crucifix.” “Should I be the one defending faith and values? I’m a sinner…”, Salvini said on Facebook.

Think of the Muslim mothers who will have to explain to their children why they were left out of the tortellini party, leaving them permanently scarred, scarred for life!
DHazard says
Or think of the Muslim mothers who WOULD have to explain to their children why they were left out of the tortellini party, leaving them permanently scarred, if not for the strange behavior of many non-Muslim Europeans who seem ashamed of their history.

On an episode of Last Man Standing, Boyd was sent home from a party for playing finger gun. He was a “guest” at the party, but no allowances were made for what he wanted. Ryan invited the same family’s kid over for Boyd to play with and planned to cook mac and cheese. Then he had to promise to leave out the cheese.. and agreed because the kid would be a guest. The audience understood how ridiculous this was.
Why cannot the ones proposing to change everything for moslims not see how ridiculous this is? moslims never, ever make allowances or change anything to make others feel welcome, but whine, complain, and riot..even to the point of murder…when they are not placated

Err, Orthodox Jews don’t eat pork so why didn’t the Bologna Catholic Diocese welcome them to their feasts with pork-free tortellini, say, decades ago? Discrimination? No “fake news” to motivate them?
This sudden sensitivity sure sounds like a lot of bologna.

Exactly. And what about vegetarians? Perhaps because Jews and vegetarians are not constantly violently “offended”.

Many Muslims will not ask what the meat is and will then enjoy it, if it looks and smells delicious delicious. They know that pork will not harm them. The Italians will lose their culture a piece at a time. How about wine? Italy is one of the biggest wine producing countries. Italy produces as much wine as France: 1.6 billion gallons annually. Muslims don’t like wine either, do they?

I’m allergic to pork which means eating it would send me to the ICU. So when I go to parties etc I simply ask what’s got pig in it and don’t touch the stuff. Simple.
Now what would be so hard about those who don’t eat pork for religious reasons simply avoiding it?
I’ve seen Jews do this, seen Hindu’s avoid beef and Buddhists avoid meat altogether.
So why are these fools getting down and kissing Muslim ass to avoid “offending” them.
I find that these oxygen thieves breathing the same air as me to be offensive, but I don’t demand that they stop!
In short,,,,SCREW EM! Build a bridge and get over it.
Hugh Fitzgerald says
Tortellini are not merely one of the dishes of Bologna, but perhaps the most famous of all Bolognesi dishes. Bologna itself is known as Bologna la Grassa — Bologna the Well-Nourished City — famous, famosissimo, for many foods that contain pork, including salumi (salamis) of all kinds – prosciutto (raw and cured), prosciutto (smoked), pancetta (bacon), salsicce of a thousand varieties.
I have no doubt that this decision, to offer only pork-free tortellini out of “respect” for Muslim guests, was prompted by Muslim community leaders, well-versed in the art of ingratiating themselves with foolish Infidels, asking the local Catholic clergy if it wouldn’t be possible, in the splendid interfaith spirit of things (the spirit of surrender is what they were thinking), to keep all pork products from being served. And from Rome, Pope Francis himself may have suggested sua sponte that it would be a good idea to keep the tortellini pork-free so as not to distress the Muslim “guests.”.
There was an obvious solution. That would have been to offer two kinds of tortellini: one with pork filing and one without. Then those Muslim guests — who thought it would be a good idea to invite them to the Feast of San Petronio and dictate the menu? — could have had their non-pork tortellini, and the Italians of Bologna could have had the pork-filled version.
Alternative offerings are common at at weddings, on planes, at school gatherings, where “chicken or fish” or “meat or vegan” or “vegan or fish” are on offer. It could have been done here. What the Catholic clergy fail to realize is that what they assume will be received by the local Muslims as a sign of Dhristian solicitude and goodwill will instead be taken as a sign of civilizational surrender. Imagine, the Bolognesi being ordered by the Church to forego their traditional pork-filled tortellini, not to mention the salumi of a dozen varieties.
Banning pork products would not be enough to show proper deference to the Muslims. Surely all alcohol – all those Italian wines — should be kept out of the Feast of San Petronio. It doesn’t matter if those Muslims can simply avoid drinking themselves; it’s the sight of others drinking that they find disturbing.
One last observation. The Cathedral of San Petronio icontains the fresco by Giovanni da Modena, that shows, following Dante’s description, Muhammad in the 8th circle of hell, tearing at his own entrails. In 2009 a group of Muslims were arrested for plotting to destroy the fresco. They did not succeed, but the Church then had to put up a metal grill that now keeps viewers of the fresco at a greater distance, making it har for them to make out its details. so that it can only with difficulty be seen. The Muslims did not destroy the fresco, but the effect of their plotting was to make it no longer visible to visitors.

In my comment above, I refer to a plot by Muslims to destroy Giovanni da Modena’s fresco depicting Dante’s Inferno, including in the 8th circle (bolgia) of hell Muhammad being tormented by demons. I had my date wrong. It was in 2002, that five Muslim men who were planning to blow up not just the fresco but the entire Basilica di San Petronion were arrested. fAgain in 2006, plans by Muslim terrorists to destroy the Basilica were thwarted by Italian police. And now that fresco, “per motivi di sicurezza” (as it demurely says in one account, not mentioning what “reasons of security” are meant), can be seen clearly by no one, behind the security grill.

Yes–this “protection” accomplishes much of what the violent Muslims wanted in the first place.

Dante showed great perceptiveness. Putting Mahomet and Ali among the Sowers of Discord was not his only reference to Mahometanism in the Inferno – in Canto 8 line 70, he refers to the “meschite”, “mosques”, of the infernal City of Dis:
Lo buon maestro disse: «Omai, figliuolo,
s’appressa la città c’ha nome Dite,
coi gravi cittadin, col grande stuolo». 69
E io: «Maestro, già le sue meschite

Italy: Catholic diocese orders pork-free tortellini for feast day to avoid offending Muslims
………………..
Muslims won’t be celebrating the Feast of St. Petronius, in any case, so why is this even an issue?
IF Muslims want pork-less tortellini, they can make it themselves.
Also, note: it is not that Muslims would just like an alternative, it is that they will be “offended” by the Infidel norm. So this diocese is imposing Shari’ah law.

Was it the foot kissing, hugging, head of the religion that designated the wants of muslims to be incorporated into a Catholic festival ?

He also thinks islam is a peaceful religion and that allah{who CURSES Christians k9:30 and denies EVERYTHING about Jesus Christ in his “perfect” koran}is the SAME as the Biblical God when logically and theologically that is quite impossible which he must surely know as a jesuit.
So he is a false shepherd because only a false pope[a marxist jesuit one} would say and do what he does with regard to islam…

I like Matthew 15:14 but starting at Matthew 15, verse 10 and continuing through verse 20 works even better for me. And, yes, I think these verses can apply to eating pork as well as to eating with unwashed hands. So are these Catholics embarrassed by the words of Jesus and fear they will offend some Muslims? Man, that is just sad, really sad. (Although, I do want my pork to be cooked thoroughly and I do usually wash my hands before eating, but, hey, sometimes I don’t.)
James says
We need to start putting our foot down and tell them they can take it or leave it. There is an anecdote by Theodor White, I believe, about being a guest in China of Chou en Lai. They served roast pig, and White said he could not eat pork, as he was Jewish. Chou replied, that in America it may have been pork, but in China it was roast duck. White accepted this explanation and enjoyed the meal. This is the sort of tolerance that the Muslims should learn to show when they are in infidel countries. If the Jewish journalist could master it, then Muslims can do so too. They ought to. When do they ever drop their culture and adapt themselves to other cultures. Individuals from these countries often do, but the leaders should set an example for the laypeople.

I believe the following quote applies here:
Look higher still, and see the prelates of the Holy Church, pastors who have the charge of souls. Is the number of those who are saved among them greater than the number of those who are damned? Listen to Cantimpre; he will relate an event to you, and you may draw the conclusions. There was a synod being held in Paris, and a great number of prelates and pastors who had the charge of souls were in attendance; the king and princes also came to add luster to that assembly by their presence. A famous preacher was invited to preach. While he was preparing his sermon, a horrible demon appeared to him and said, “Lay your books aside. If you want to give a sermon that will be useful to these princes and prelates, content yourself with telling them on our part, ‘We the princes of darkness thank you, princes, prelates, and pastors of souls, that due to your negligence, the greater number of the faithful are damned; also, we are saving a reward for you for this favor, when you shall be with us in Hell.”‘
