Jihad Watch

Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Slaveholding Mauritania, Sharia Sudan, jihad-plagued Libya elected to UN Human Rights Council

Oct 18, 2019 11:00 am By Robert Spencer

The UN is a sick joke. It is nothing close to what it was intended to be: an international body in which the nations of the world could work out their differences peacefully, without resorting to war. It is, instead, just an arm of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), advancing the Islamic agenda with willing aid from a cowed and spineless West. It should be defunded immediately and expelled from the United States.

“Tyrants celebrate as U.N. elects Venezuela, Mauritania, Libya, Sudan to top rights body,” Africa News, October 18, 2019:

The U.N.’s election today of serial abusers of human rights —Venezuela, Mauritania, Libya and Sudan — to its highest human rights body drew sharp criticism from the non-governmental human rights group UN Watch, which is based in Geneva at the seat of the 47-nation Human Rights Council.

“Electing the oppressive Venezuelan regime of Nicolás Maduro to a human rights council is like making a pyromaniac into the town fire chief,” said Hillel Neuer, executive director of UN Watch. “It’s absurd, immoral and offensive.”

“Sadly, today the UN General Assembly disregarded its own rules by electing regimes that violate the human rights of their own citizens, and which consistently vote the wrong way on UN initiatives to protect the human rights of others,” said Neuer.

In a detailed study released last week, UN Watch found that four of the newly elected members — Venezuela, Mauritania, Libya, and Sudan — had poor records on respecting human rights at home and in their UN votes, thereby failing to qualify according to the UN’s own membership criteria.

The council already counts China, Cuba, Saudi Arabia, DR Congo, Eritrea, Qatar, Somalia, Cameroon and Pakistan among its members.

The UN General Assembly today also elected Armenia and Brazil, both of whom were deemed “questionable” by UN Watch, due to their problematic human rights records or UN voting records.

“Regrettably, at least 7 EU states helped elect slaveholding Mauritania (which won 172 out of 193 votes), a country that has 500,000 slaves. Not one EU member state spoke out against the election of dictatorships. By turning a blind eye as even more human rights violators join and subvert the council, leading democracies are complicit in the world body’s moral decline,” said Neuer….

Haha, F you bro, it’s called progressivism, or human rights, or something equally obscene. Stop being racist/islamophobic/negrophobic (ops, that’s racist of me)/FGM-phobic! It’s cultural, you see ^^.
On a serious note tho, who still takes the UN seriously? I sure didn’t when they put Saudi Arabia on a pedestal by making them head of the “Women’s Rights Council”.
Absurdity is their trade, jihad being their pass-time. Due time the US cuts their funding, without it, they’d be over within a year.

Note: a white slave is worth 2 black slaves in Islamic law. That’s official Islam.

There is a much-quoted paragraph from a mediaeval Muslim scholar saying, well, much the same things about black Africans that one might expect from a Klansman. I cant recall the writers name but he was famous and often cited as evidence of the enlightenment and tolerance of Muslim Spain. Do you happen to recall? Oh and I wonder why nobody ever called this to the attention of, say, Malcolm X.

Slaveholding Mauritania reflects the cruel practice of slavery which totally endorsed by Islam

For slavery is a heinous part of Islam is a topic that the apologists for that religion don’t like have people bring up .Nevertheless one writer revealed that “The senior clerics of Saudi Arabia’s highest body declared “Slavery is part of Islam and whoever wants it abolished is an infidel.” [1] Likewise, a former Muslim had exposed in his book that “Slavery is recognized as an institution and slave is considered both a thing as a person.” [2] In addition, two Christian writers in their book had also informs their readers that “Islam has enslaved more people than any other culture.” [3] Therefore Islam regardless of what the apologist for this religion do claim has no regard for human rights

To be elected to the UN HUMAN RIGHTS Council – there is already a STANDARD of HUMAN RIGHTS set out in 1947 after the horror of WW2!
IF countries are not UPHOLDING those RIGHTS of FREE SPEECH; FREEDOM OF RELIGION etc then countries not abiding by them should not be allowed to be on the HUMAN RIGHTS Council!
E.g. Saudi Arabia should be banned from all UN Council’s until it reverses it’s recently made Law that will condemn all Christians having a Bible in Public in Saudi Arabia!
Where countries have been brutal towards Jews and Christians and Hindu’s and Sikh’s they should be banned from being elected to UN Council’s

        • gravenimage says

          Oct 18, 2019 at 9:25 pm

Again, Terry, here is the definition of religion, per the authoritative Oxford English Dictionary:

A particular system of faith and worship.

          and:

Action or conduct indicating belief in, obedience to, and reverence for a god, gods, or similar superhuman power; the performance of religious rites or observances.
          …

Islam is certainly a religion by these definitions.

I looked up your last comment on the “US Supreme Court: Teacher who forced student to say Islamic conversion prayer did not violate Establishment Clause”, at Oct 18, 2019 at 3:56 pm.

This comment appears to be addressed to poster somehistory, and not to myself. I’m not sure what “false allegations” you believe I have made–certainly, none of them appear to be covered in this cited post. Were you referring to something else?

        • Wellington says

          Oct 19, 2019 at 1:39 am

Terry Gain’s approach is well intentioned, gravenimage, as I know you know, but it is hopelessly unrealistic and, what is worse, it makes things even more difficult to ideally deal with Islam by foolishly denying it is a religion because it is evil.

Nature screws up at time—tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, cancer, mosquitoes, etc. And so does man—light beer, turkey bacon, artificial sweeteners, social studies substituting for history, geography, government and economics, AND establishing evil religions like Islam, the Aztec faith, Satanism, etc.

Denying reality is never an optimal approach. You have to deal with reality however unlikable it sometimes is. And then you go from there. Terry Gain on the matter of Islam refuses to “go from there” and, to put it mildly, this is not only not helpful but a hindrance.

Terry, please once and for all realize that a religion can be evil (but you won’t).

    • Joe says

      Oct 19, 2019 at 7:41 am

Well it depends on how far you can change a word. The root word of religion is relate. In that sense, Islam, after Mohammed, would not be a religion.

In English, though, a word can have many meanings. Those meanings can change or multiply at any caprice. For example, “sick” didn’t always mean “wonderful”, but it sometimes means that by now.

Taking a stand that a word does not mean what some other party intends it to mean is pretty dicey as far as English is concerned. I bet you will be fighting a losing battle.

Slaveholding Mauritania, Sharia Sudan, jihad-plagued Libya elected to UN Human Rights Council

Tyrants celebrate as U.N. elects Venezuela, Mauritania, Libya, Sudan to top rights body
    ………………………..

It is estimated that 17% of Mauritania’s population is enslaved, and Sudan continues to enslave Christians, and slaves have been openly auctioned in Libya. Sudan is a Shari’ah state, and Venezuela is starving citizens in this ‘socialist paradise’.

And the worst thing is that this is not the first time that the UN has done this sort of thing–other UN Human Rights Council members have included Burkina Faso, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Pakistan, China, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam. Zimbabwe–some of these several times, For instance, Mauritania was a member in 2011

This body’s predecessor, the United Nations Commission on Human Rights, had become so notorious by 2006 for this very reason that it was replaced. But the UN has not changed its criteria for membership one bit. Note that we are not talking here about some small point or one or two dodgy incidents, but the most horrifying human rights violation in the world.

So what does this body actually do? Its purpose seems to be mostly to castigate civilized Israel. Israel has been the target of more resolutions than any other country–over a third of all resolutions. Of course, this is nothing but political.

The US really needs to leave both the UN and NATO, and focus on the OAS. Initiate reforms in the OAS that would make as many countries in the organization as prosperous as Chile, so that you don’t have basketcases like Honduras or El Salvador or a mini civil war in Mexico. Bring US troops worldwide home to the US, or at least station them in places where our activities – like fighting the Mexico drug cartels – have more tangible benefits to the US
