“O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are [in fact] allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you – then indeed, he is [one] of them. Indeed, Allah guides not the wrongdoing people.” — Qur’an 5:51
Ibn Kathir, the renowned and quite mainstream commentator on the Qur’an, explains: “Allah forbids His believing servants from having Jews and Christians as friends, because they are the enemies of Islam and its people, may Allah curse them.”
“Anti-Christian, Jewish billboards in Turkey’s central Konya province spark fury,” Ahval News, October 21, 2019:
Anti-Christian and anti-Jewish posters found hanging on billboards in Turkey’s central conservative province of Konya have sparked public outrage.
The billboards which belong to the Konya’s Islamist Justice and Development Party (AKP) municipality contain a verse from the Qur’an calling upon believers to abstain from befriending Christians and Jews.
“…Do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are [in fact] allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you – then indeed, he is [one] of them. Indeed, Allah guides not the wrongdoing people,’’ the posters say, citing Quranic chapter five, verse 51….
lisa says
Are you sure that’s a billboard? It looks like poster taped to a store’s window front….it is still offensive…but a store owner putting up a poster on his window is not the same thing as a billboard that EVERYBODY would see.
Angemon says
Nah, it’s a billboard, possibly on a bus stop or on a garden/park – there’s a bench on the left side and you can see a road behind it.
mortimer says
It is promoting APARTHEID and possible genocide. These statements are human rights violations. However, they are normative Islam, rather than aberrations.
Giacomo Latta says
The entire koran is just that. Have you informed any elected official of that?
gravenimage says
Exactly, Angemon.
Sun says
The liberal Catholoic ‘Domradio’ reports in Germany that the local party AKP installed the billboards at serval bus stops in the city of Konya.
Angemon says
It’s the sort of thing that, were it done by AFDI in America, would be considered “islamophobic”…
mortimer says
It is a solicitation of apartheid.
gravenimage says
Absurd but true, Angemon–Infidels are not supposed to expose the ugliness of Islam.
Warren Raymond says
Pamela Geller can save her money for billboards & placards. The Turks are doing it for her!
gravenimage says
The Turks are not trying to warn Infidels, but to threaten them.
DHazard says
Ben Affleck and his friends heard about this and said “That’s so totally not gross, that’s so not racist. Just talking about it makes you an Islamophobic, racist jar of camel urine.”
Sun says
Ben Affleck does not know what he is talking about. He never lived in Islamic countries – many of us here in the forum did.
Nevertheless, he is doing a good job in the movie industry. .
mortimer says
Ben Affleck believes that it isn’t racism, apartheid, discrimination, misogyny, supremacism or crimes against humanity when MUSLIMS DO IT.
Rufolino says
Personally, I have no interest in the public statements of so-called ‘film stars’. They are spoilt, ego-inflated buffoons.
Hugh Fitzgerald says
Why not put up posters in the U.S. that contain the quote and the Qur’anic verse number:
“Do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are [in fact] allies only with each other. And whoever is an ally to them among you – then indeed, he is [one] of them. Indeed, Allah guides not the wrongdoing people”
Qur’an 5:51
How can CAIR object to a direct quote from Allah in the Qur’an?
gravenimage says
They object to this sort of thing all the time–and dhimmi tools go along with it.
oldblindjohn says
The correct translation is “friends” not allies.
gravenimage says
Authoritative translations use one or the other, or both:
http://corpus.quran.com/translation.jsp?chapter=5&verse=51
I don’t think there is a great deal of difference.
Angemon says
It depends on the translation:

Angemon says
Ups, GI beat me to it. That’s what I get for responding from my email on a “post-by-post” basis 😅😅😅
gravenimage says
I’ve done the same many times myself, Angemon. 🙂

Turkey: Billboards quote Qur’an, “Do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies”
………………….
Turkey has driven out or murdered most of its Christian and Jewish population–including committing genocide against Christians and slaughtering as many as two million a hundred years ago. Only a tiny remnant survives today.
But that is still not good enough for pious Muslims…

Trick_or_Treat says
WHY the hell is this fascist pig Erdogon, and Turkey, still a member of NATO? WHY haven’t they been expelled (and some time back at that)? Expel the bastard dogs, and NOW!
If NATO does not expel Turkey, then that also makes NATO just as much an enemy entity in my eyes. When the S hits the F (and it won’t matter a rat’s to me even if you’ve got an American flag patch on your shoulder) if you are a NATO operative, then you’ve as good as got a target painted on your head.
If NATO does not expel Turkey, then every country who considers itself to have any kind of values and moral compass whatsoever should leave,…NOW. NATO is now obviously corrupted and has degenerated, and is no longer representative of preserving and upholding the values and freedom it was supposedly touted as being there for. It has embraced the opposite – it is an enemy entity.
gravenimage says
Turkey should have been kicked out of NATO long since.
The unexpected voice says
They’re false ally in the first place.
Infidel says
So why is Erdogan taking Putin as an ally? Unlike the Soviets, Putin is a fairly observant Orthodox Christian
commonsense says
“Anti-Christian and anti-Jewish posters found hanging on billboards…have sparked public outrage.”
Who among the Muslims in “conservative” Konya are outraged? How many of these Muslims, or other Muslims in the rest of Turkey, have expressed outrage? I would certainly like to know.
Joe says
If you have ever perused a Koran, you know that attacks against the unbelievers is in there early and often. For example, it advises to not be friends with the unbelievers about 10 times in the first 15 pages. An “unbeliever” is anyone who opposes Mohammed as a prophet which is anyone with common sense.
With that being the case, how could any Muslim be outraged with the sign?
commonsense says
Joe, that’s precisely why I’m puzzled! It’s a pity we are left in the dark about this.
gravenimage says
Many of them *don’t want to know* what a threat Islam is.
Ernie says
The poster suggests that Christians and Jews are bloodthirsty people . A reverse of reality I would say , and an enormous projection . Propaganda that reminds of NAZI – Germany , just before Kristallnacht . When are the progroms starting , mister Erdogan/Turkish Hitler ?
gravenimage says
True, Ernie–more projection from violent Muslims.
AP says
What a terrible world this will be if the islamist take over. no music, no song, no dance, no joy, only their hate filled little lies.
gravenimage says
Muslims won’t lie if they take over–Taqiyya is only to lull the Infidels into a false sense of security.
Terry says
As I understand it, Ismael was the patriarch of Islam and the son of Abraham and Agar, so why are the Christians and Jews enemies of Islam?
This twisted logic is CONFUSING…… “Allah cursed them “(Christians and Jews), yet Ismael was the son of a Jewish Prophet who worshiped Yahweh as the one true God for both Jews and Christians and by extension should also be the same God of the patriarch of Islam.
gravenimage says
Muslims also claim that Abraham (Ibrahim) was Muslim. They say that all Jewish prophets were actually Muslim.
