And anyone who raised any suspicion about Abdul Hussain would have been excoriated as a racist, bigoted “Islamophobe,” and suffered professional and possibly personal ruin.
“Curry house boss, 41, ‘hoarded ISIS execution videos in his Spice Island restaurant and kept terror manual on how to become a sleeper agent living double life in the West,'” by Danyal Hussain, Mailonline, October 22, 2019:
A curry house boss hoarded ISIS execution videos and kept a terrorist handbook on how to be a secret agent living a double life in the West, a court has heard.
Abdul Hussain, 41, allegedly stored extremist handbooks including ‘How to Survive in the West’ and ‘Miracles in Syria’ on hard drives at his flat in Torquay, Devon.
The books were packed with instructions on making bombs, handling weapons, avoiding detection, and ways of travelling to ISIS controlled territory to take part in fighting.
Police found videos of ‘extremely savage and disturbing’ public beheadings and conspiracy theories denying the Westminster terror attack when they searched Hussain’s Spice Island restaurant in Exeter on November 16, 2017.
Some of the videos showed executions carried out by children.
They also uncovered manuals detailing how to ‘activate jihad at the right time’ in a search at Hussain’s home address on July 17, 2018, the Old Bailey heard.
Hussain claimed he was simply a ‘researcher’ with a curiosity about ISIS when he was arrested and interviewed by police, the court heard.
He added that he had wanted to make a documentary, but police found no evidence of this.
Officers had become suspicious of Hussain in November 2017 when they carried out a drugs raid on his restaurant.
However, instead of drugs, they discovered hard drives with the extreme videos on them.
Paul Raudnitz, prosecuting said: ‘This case is about the possession of documents containing information useful for terrorist purposes.
‘On 17 July 2018, police officers went to the defendant’s address in St Marychurch Road, Torquay, in Devon….
‘There were a very large number of documents relating to the Syrian conflict, the Iraq war, ISIS, jihad and terrorism. These included a number of pro-ISIS publications, such as ISIS online magazines and e-books.
‘There were also a large number of video files relating to ISIS and terrorism, including a number portraying disturbing scenes of ISIS fighters training; fighting; public, sometimes extremely savage, executions; and violence.
‘Disturbing and extreme though this material is, its possession is not illegal.
‘In a different category however, were two further files which were also recovered.
‘One of these files was called ‘How to Survive in the West – A Mujahid Guide. The second of the files was called ‘Miracles in Syria’.
‘The prosecution say that these two items were in a wholly different category from all the other material, because both ‘How to Survive in the West’ and ‘Miracles in Syria’ contained information of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism.
”’How to Survive in the West” was, in essence, a compendium of information of assistance to a terrorist.
‘It purported to teach how to be a secret agent living a double and how to become a ‘sleeper-cell’ which ‘activates at the right time’ to jihad when needed.
‘The document provided information on how to hide an extremist identity and gave tips on physical training, self-defence techniques and target practice.
‘Most significantly, it also gave details about weapons, survival techniques, bomb-making and transporting weapons.
‘Miracles in Syria’ was an essentially propagandist publication, describing the presence of various miraculous events amongst those fighting against the Assad regime in Syria.
‘It also contained however, a number of features likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism, in particular it described how to travel to, and enter, parts of Syria under the control of Islamic rebels for the purposes of joining with ISIS units there….

Just curious but is this person, Abdul Hussain, being charged with terrorism or even as one aiding and abetting terrorists. It seems that this person has more than an idle curiosity with Islamic terrorism. Also when I choose to eat in a Sub-Continent restaurant, I politely try to ascertain if the staff are of Indian or Pakistani origin. I don’t trust a Paki when it comes to food preparation that I consume.
ash says
i do the same, i think most ‘indian’ eateries in the UK are either pakistani or bangladeshi.. i avoid them as much as possible..

I never eat in curry houses-we should avoid all such halal outlets

Many curry restaurants are run by Hindus or Sikhs.
Cicerp says
Not many . Perhaps a few but they are like hen’s teeth.
The majority of curry houses /restaurants in the UK are run by Bangladeshi/ now also Pakistani Muslims
Hugh Fitzgerald says
You are certainly right to be suspicious about Muslim food preparation for non-Muslim customers. I came down with a severe case of dysentery from eating in an Arab Muslim restaurant. I now know what they sprinkled on my food. I was a kuffar whom they decided — just for fun — to poison in this way. I will never go to a restaurant where any of the cooks or waiters are Muslim. Why take a chance?
And when you ask if the staff are Indian or Pakistani, make sure, if they are Indian, that they are Hindus.
LB says
EXACTLY! Never ever allow a muslim to cook your food or care for your health. Muslim chefs and doctors need to be avoided AT ALL COSTS lest you come to regret it. It’s not like all of them want you–the infidel–dead and/or suffering, but some of them do, so why even take that chance? Mr. Fitzgerald, I’m sorry you had to learn that fact the hard way.
Cicero says
I agree that a non muslim should be wary if s/he has to be served/ treated or taught by a Muslim professional.

It would be interesting to know where he got all these materials. Through the post maybe, or from his local mosque?

Good question, Lotus.

Good God !

I’ve seen some of these–throat-cuttings of adults by children staged in a damaged playground. It doesn’t get any sicker than that.

What a surprise! I have a faux-Indian restaurant several doors away from me, unfortunately. People like Lena Dunham talk about ‘cultural appropriation’, but what about he fact that, statistically, in the U.K., 95 percent of Indian restaurants are actually owned by Bangladeshis?!?!
I recall an evening when encountering 5 of the staff outside, smoking outside, and I started talking to them. They seemed nice enough, but two started talking about Zakir Naik – a banned Muslim hate preacher. I could go on, but I urge JW readers to look him up.
Giacomo Latta says
Any restaurant that calls itself Bangladeshi deserves to be as avoided as does a restaurant called Arsenic and Old Lace run by a couple of little old ladies.

UK: Muslim restaurant boss had ISIS execution videos in his eatery, manual on how to be a sleeper agent in the West
……………….
This is horrifying, but imagine it is quite common.
There are some very strange responses to negative reviews by the owner here, as well, on the first three pages of reviews:
https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g186254-d10051275-Reviews-The_Spice_Island-Exeter_Devon_England.html
Usually owners either ignore bad reviews or else apologize for the customer having had a negative experience–not this guy. He is extremely aggressive, and accuses customers of lying or being drunk. I know that there are unreasonable customers, of course (I worked in restaurants when I was in college), but I have never seen any responses to complaints like these. If it were just one, it might be different, but there are quite a few. In one case he admits the restaurant was at fault, but blames the English waiter (he obviously does not consider himself to be English) he goes on to blame this waiter several times, even though not all of the problems could have been his fault.
Being a Jihadist is obviously *far* worse than being a rude jerk or running a dodgy restaurant–but being aggressively rude to Infidels seems to be of a piece with what was found in his unhygienic eatery.

Good points, Graven. This is obviously someone who thinks he is superior to mere kaffirs and so cannot tolerate criticism.
Though even non-Muslims can get touchy about this. It reminds me of that TV series in which Gordon Ramsay goes to various eateries on a mission to improve them. When he criticises substandard food, it’s amazing how some owners or chefs can’t accept the criticism.
I recall one show in which some customers complained, and the owner/chef came out to talk with them at their table. He was very hostile.
When the customers said that the food had obviously been microwaved, he said in a surly tone,
“So are you experts on microwaves then? Are you in the microwave business or something?”
It was a kind of case study in how to screw up your restaurant business by being rude to customers. Lol.

It’s simple: Just ask if the food is halal. If they say ‘no’, then patronise that establishment. If they say ‘yes’, then go at your own risk.

Wait. They found jihad materials at Hussien’s restaurant in Nov 2017…. and it took 7 months to get to his residence?
Strelnikov says
No need to refer to these materials as “extremist”. They represent mainstream Muslim thought.
