My recent experiences with the Stupid Party. Two of my new articles from FrontPage:
“Why Republicans are Called ‘The Stupid Party’: And why they’re losing.”
I don’t know who coined the terms, but they couldn’t be more apt, and this becomes clearer every day: the Democrats are “The Evil Party,” and the Republicans are “The Stupid Party.” Recently I had an experience with the Stupid Party that brought home to me why the Left is so decisively winning the war for the hearts and minds of Americans. It involved local Stupid Party politics, but the same kind of thing is happening all over the country.
The Stupid Party of Sullivan County, New Hampshire, more commonly known as the Sullivan County Republican Party, invited me to speak there a few weeks ago. I was expecting a quiet, low-key event, and it seems as if whenever I expect a quiet, low-key event, all hell breaks loose: the last quiet, low-key event at which I spoke was in Iceland, which turned out to be so laid back that a Leftist poisoned me. I didn’t get poisoned up in New Hampshire, but the atmosphere sure was poisonous. The whole affair showed in microcosm how the far-Left has gained control of the media, the educational system, and the culture in general, without any significant pushback from those who are supposedly committed to the freedom of speech and a free society.
In New Hampshire, my appearance led to what has now become the usual firestorm that ensues whenever someone who challenges the prevailing leftist narrative speaks anywhere. I was smeared by “journalists” Kevin Landrigan of the New Hampshire Union Leader and John Gregg of Valley News, neither of whom bothered to ask me for comment while printing as unquestioned fact defamatory and false charges about me. Raymond Buckley, chair of the New Hampshire Democratic Party, president of the Association of State Democratic Chairs, and vice-chair of the Democratic National Committee, called me a “white supremacist,” apparently having confused me with Richard Spencer, and refused to retract when repeatedly asked to do so. Democrat State Senator Martha Hennessey, after the manner of Nazi Brownshirts in the early 1930s, led a smear campaign on Twitter. Two venues, the Eastman Community Center in Grantham and the Elks Club in Claremont, caved in to this and canceled the event; the Elks, at least, were directly pressured to cancel by Hennessey.
Despite all this, the event went on in a third venue. Here is the video. You can see for yourself if it’s full of “hate.”
Raymond Buckley is a liar and Martha Hennessey is a fascist, so neither should be in positions of public service, but what do you expect? They’re Democrats. They’re typical in the Democrat Party these days. What was far worse was the cowardly response from many people inside the Sullivan County Stupid Party.
Instead of investigating the false charges being made about me, discovering I wasn’t really any of the things that were being said, and standing up for the freedom of speech, all too many Republicans were ready to kowtow and do everything the Democrats wanted. Sullivan County Republican Committee Chairman Keith Hanson, who invited me in the first place, stood firm and kept finding new venues when one would cancel, but some prominent local Republicans cowered and feared even to attend the event.
Hanson picked me up at the airport and drove me to the venue, and on the way told me about how the Democrats had gerrymandered themselves into total control of Vermont and were trying to do the same thing in New Hampshire; in response, Republicans are doing nothing. They don’t seem to realize or care what is happening, and have ceded all the initiative and control of the narrative to the Democrats.
In response to the Left’s smear campaign against me, some of the Republicans showed this again, demonstrating that they were totally cowed and ready to surrender, happy to allow the left to dictate what they can do or can’t do. They don’t even seem to realize what is wrong with this.
James “Jim” (yes, that’s really what he calls himself, “James ‘Jim’”) Beard is the former Sullivan County Republican Committee Chairman and failed candidate for New Hampshire Executive Council. The night before the event, he wrote this in an email to Hanson:
Time to accept failure….Keith, it is time to send a email blast to everyone who responded, everyone who bought tickets with 100% refunds and accept your mismanagement for bringing this event to Sullivan County. Tomorrow evening, you will be alone with 10-20 people inside the VFW Hall in Claremont with a group of maybe 50 protestors outside. This is not how SCGOP candidates wish to be portrayed, nor how they will win elections.
This entire charade is an embarrassment for the SCGOP and I suggest you step aside. Let us return to good ole’ [sic] fashioned hot dog roasts on the Newport Common where people came together from all works of life in the community, socialize and build common understanding. That is how we Republicans solicit votes…interaction with the public.
You can write your own resignation…
You read that right: “let us return to good ole’ fashioned hot dog roasts.” Face down the protestors? Stand on principle? Not good ol’ James “Jim” Beard. The Democrats are at open war against the freedom of speech. They’re stigmatizing and silencing all opposition to jihad mass murder and Sharia oppression of women and others. They are forcing a radical socialist agenda on the country. And this clown thinks he is going to beat them with hot dog roasts. Or rather, he is happy to lose, as long as he gets his with mustard.
Beard wasn’t alone. Representative Steven Smith, senior Republican advisor in the NH House and chairman of the Sullivan County delegation, Sullivan County District 11, was no better. Nadir Ahmed, an Islamic apologist whom I bested in a debate years ago, wrote to Smith, apparently offering to speak in Sullivan County and spread some soothing lies where I had told uncomfortable truths. Smith’s response to him, which Ahmed then gleefully sent to me, couldn’t have been friendlier (in sharp contrast to his rude and arrogant tone with me when I wrote him after this), and shows where Smith stands.
I saw your messages to the SCGOP Facebook page and did not want you to think you were being ignored. Thanks for your offer. I am currently trying to sweep up Mr. Hanson’s mess. He may not be with the organization much longer and he is not responding to messages. Your offer is interesting, but the timing is terrible. Let me think about it once this all dies down. I watched the video. The think [sic] is, I am losing faith that minds can be changed these days.
Did Smith attend my event? Of course not. Does he have the first foggiest idea of what I actually say? Almost certainly not. But he knows the Democrats and the establishment media don’t like it, so he is ready to carry water for them and help further their agenda. Rep. Smith, I’d be glad to come back to New Hampshire at my own expense and debate your friend, or anyone else you choose. But somehow I doubt you have either the courage or the goodwill to sponsor such an event.
Why do invertebrates such as Beard and Smith rule in the Republican Party? The Democrats are fighting a war, and the Republicans are playing jacks. Where are the men with spines? Where are people standing up to this totalitarian agenda of the left, and affirming that opposition to jihad terror is not morally wrong or evil, and that such opposition should be allowed a platform?
Not, for the most part, in the Stupid Party, not just in Sullivan County, New Hampshire, but all over the country. Instead, Republicans keep roasting their hot dogs, and hoping that their leftist masters won’t demand too very much of them.
Last Tuesday here at FrontPage, I criticized New Hampshire State Representative Steven Smith and his colleagues in the Sullivan County Republican Party of New Hampshire for being cowards and fools and allowing the Left to dictate the parameters of what they could do and could not do. And here they go again, providing yet another demonstration of why the Republicans deserve the sobriquet “Stupid Party,” and why the Republican establishment is losing the battle for the hearts and minds of Americans.
This whole controversy started with a lecture I gave up in Smith’s chilly neck of the woods several weeks ago. According to New Hampshire’s Valley News, a man named Randy Britton, who is described as “a retired Navy captain with 25 years of active duty and Navy Reserve service, had raised concerns about the impact of Spencer’s appearance on a Muslim family who lived near the original proposed venue for the fundraiser in the Eastman Community Association.”
Randy Britton’s political affiliation isn’t listed, but he is unlikely to be a Republican. Even though many Republicans are, like Smith, cowed and subservient to the Left, it is usually only Democrats who outright oppose resistance to jihad terror and call it “anti-Muslim.”
Instead of standing firm and defending the freedom of speech, and reminding Britton that jihad terror was real and needed to be resisted, Smith immediately folded. In the face of Britton’s silly objections, Smith showed he has a promising future among Mitt Romney/Paul Ryan establishment Republicans: “Smith said he had not heard Spencer speak so didn’t want to make a judgment about his content, but also apologized on air to the Muslim family. ‘That family in Eastman should not have to have gone through this,’ Smith said. ‘They came to this country to be Americans. And that is one of the values that we want to support. We don’t want to make these people feel not welcome.’”
Yes, you read that right. Smith didn’t see me speak, and so he says he doesn’t want to judge the content of my speech, and then he apologizes to this Muslim family for it.
What a coward. If he didn’t see it, what is he apologizing for? If he doesn’t know what I said, how does he know there is anything to apologize for at all?
Essentially he is apologizing because the Left was unhappy that I spoke, and he believes Leftists uncritically. If he had watched the video, he would have seen that I didn’t mention this Muslim family. I didn’t know this family existed. I never said that they were not welcome, or that Muslims were not welcome in the United States. Nor did I say anything to the effect that non-Muslims in Sullivan County, New Hampshire, or anywhere else should be unkind to their Muslim neighbors. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty.
If he cared anything about facts, Smith could watch the video of the speech, and he would see that there is nothing “hateful” in it at all. Here it is:
The reality is that all I do is oppose jihad mass murder and Sharia oppression of women and others. The idea that there is anything wrong or objectionable about what I do is an invention of Leftist and Islamic supremacist propagandists, and Smith is voluntarily buying into their claims, without examining them or giving me the opportunity to clear my name. Keith Hanson, the former Sullivan County Republican Chairman who brought me in to speak, had me in the meeting during which he was ousted, via Skype from California. But these cowardly, Republicans, ever submissive to their Democrat masters, voted down a motion to allow me to speak. It figures. (Meanwhile, “journalist” John P. Gregg didn’t bother to contact me for comment. Once again, it figures.)
“Personal attacks are not the way to do business,” says Randy Britton. Yet New Hampshire Democratic Party Chairman Raymond Buckley called me a “white supremacist” and as far as I know, neither Britton nor Smith uttered a syllable of protest, despite the fact that Buckley’s claim is outright libel. Apparently personal attacks are not the way to do business unless the Democrats engage in them, in which case cowardly, spineless, clueless, self-defeating Republicans such as Steven Smith and the Sullivan County Republican Party of New Hampshire will eagerly fall into line.
If Steven Smith and his friends in the Sullivan County Republican Party of New Hampshire – and many others like them around the country — think that opposition to jihad mass murder cannot be aired because it will somehow threaten kind and friendly local Muslims, then no opposition to jihad mass murder will be aired. Then the jihad will be able to advance unopposed and unimpeded, with everyone afraid to say a word against it, for fear of this kind of treatment. Steven Smith appears to be completely oblivious regarding that possibility, or blithely indifferent to it.

Also stupid when people who supposedly support free speech censor dissidents for admitting the truth about the problems faced by the west, that they will and can only be solved by use of force.
This is why the “Counter Jihadists” are losing, and why they have spent 18 years giving ground to Muslims and proposing nothing that will ever solve the problem.
Maybe you can “debate” it. I’m sure the other “Counter Jihadists” will love to talk among themselves about how the use of force is actually wrong, and really the solution is more talk between people who already realize that Islam is dangerous, but who insist that Muslims cannot be opposed. We’ll call it the Hypocrite’s Round Table.

So you want to be allowed to attack muslims here, but our issue is with islam, an ideology, you need to find another forum, this one is not for you, goodbye.

I suppose that it can be a very narrow line between criticizing a religion and criticizing that religion’s adherents. When does fair comment become bigotry? When does Freedom of Speech go too far? I guess it depends upon whether you are making the comment or are the subject of it.
I have seen many people on this site call for a ban on muslim immigration and/or kicking out those who are legally here or are even third or fourth generation. That may be exercising Freedom of Speech but it is an attack on muslims and not just islam?
Is it, in fact, even possible to attack islam without attacking muslims at the same time? I don’t think you can separate the two very easily. And there’s the rub.
marc says
@Rarely said: “I don’t think you can separate the two very easily.”
no it’s not easy, and we make mistakes, but it’s fairly clear to see where some of these comments are going, and we ban the commentator. That is not a free speech issue, its moderation of our platform, they don’t like it, I won’t hinder them for building their own site, if I did, that would be a free speech issue, we are not a monopolies like FaceBook, Twitter and Google.
As for sensible immigration control, and state security, targeting countries that mandate islam as law, a doctrine of destruction of other societies is sensible, maybe it’s contentious, but is fair game for discussion.
“kill them all” and “nuke mecca” type comments, will never be wanted here, and to be honest, many times I’ve “researched” the worst of commentators, I’ve found they are likely agent provocateurs, plants to destroy our credibility.

Sounds like you are questioning my credentials.
I have been the host and webmaster for around 8 years and occasional blogger here.
I also have a personal relationship with the subject matter, my daughter being a victim of the savages during the last Lebanon war, a grandmother who escaped nazi Germany and a grandfather fleeing Lebanon in ’47.

Agreed, Marc.
As for the claim that Jihad Watch is some kind of echo chamber, this is not the case. Many more people read here than comment, and a lot of them are new readers.

Hello, Marc. First of all, I had no idea about your daughter and I’m so sorry for what happened to her.
I don’t mean to provoke, but this subject is one that interests me greatly and I would appreciate if you could expand on your thoughts about the matter. Here are a few questions that I hope you (or Mr. Spencer) can answer:
1) How do you cleanly separate muslims from islam in order to exclusively fight only islam while keeping muslims out of it? Because if there were no muslims, there would be no islam.
2) As you know, at its core islam teaches total warfare against non-muslims until they are all killed, enslaved, or converted to islam. But it is not islam itself that’s physically waging war against us; it’s the muslims that are doing it. Correct? If that’s the case, then, in theory, it can be said that all muslims are enemy combatants and should be treated as such. Is that not so?
To clarify my point, let’s use Nazis as an analogy, like Mr. Spencer usually does: Would you allow “moderate” Nazis into Israel and pray that they won’t, after swelling their numbers and expanding their influence, one day decide to round up all Jews in death camps? Or would you simply not take that chance and nip the potential (but almost certainly inevitable) threat in the bud? Or alternatively, would you try to persuade the Nazis that Hitler and his ideology are evil, in spite of the fact that they’ve had fascism deeply ingrained in their mind since birth by their Nazi families and communities, and in spite the fact that the majority of your fellow Israelis think positively of them?
3) Lastly, do you truly and honestly believe, at the bottom of your heart, that you can completely defeat islam, using purely ideological means, and therefore make all muslims abandon all thoughts of supremacism, warfare and oppression of any kind against infidels? Basically, perform a complete conversion of muslims into something else, because there is no islam without warfare against unbelievers.
I would appreciate the response as I think that the subject of physical resistance against islam (read: muslims) is vital to our survival.

I can only speak for me of course
There is no clean way, as you know, a particularly nasty strain of islam can infect anyone from any background at any time. And there are many born muslims totally blind to what islam really is, “bad muslims”. I have a good apostate friend, quite well known in the counter jihad and zionist movements, his mum and sister still identify as muslim, they have done no harm to anyone, and are supportive of his work. I keep reminding my self of them, also there are the Druze of the IDF who i was lucky enough to spend some time with when I was a teenager, there is no doubt of where their loyalty lies. It’s just not all muslims.
After the attack on my daughter, the brain surgeon who I can credit with having done the most to save her was a Dr Shafik, his hatred for her jihad inspired attackers was never hidden, I never knew what “type” of muslim he was, but his actions were pretty clear.
Any muslim who genuinely recognizes Israels right to exist in peace, no “ifs” or “buts”, is probably safe for all other purposes and could well be very much be on our side. They would of course be considered bad muslims by the majority.
LB says
Marc,
Thank you for the reply. All of us, even me, have muslims friends who share the same Western values of compassion as we do. In fact, if you add all anecdotal evidence of “good” muslims together, you could make a point that they make up the majority of muslim population in the West (and Israel) and I’d be inclined to agree.
But that’s not what I was asking; you dodged my question. We have seen here on JW time and time again that all it takes for “good westernized” muslims to become “bad terrorist” muslims is deeper understanding of the faith that they were born into, by either visiting the Middle East (for example, making the Hajj) or simply getting active with their nearby mosque. That makes them ticking time bombs and you never know when they’re gonna blow up (literally, in some cases).
And now, with the recent open borders social experiment these past 50-something years, muslims are all over Western Europe in tens of millions. And you can be damn sure they’re there to stay and that their numbers will only grow, never decline. That’s without taking converts to islam into the equation. Can you still claim that leaving them to their own devices, and even helping them financially, will not be a problem as long as we somehow, by some miracle, against all odds, manage to combat the ideology of islam with nothing but words?
If your answer is yes, then surely you must agree that doing so requires and enormous amount of effort and even more time. Time which we don’t have enough of. Because if we take too long, it will be too late to even do anything…
marc says
LB, Not sure on them being a majority, maybe where you are but i have lived in London, and spent time in Birmingham, the majority are hateful of Infidels. Ironically in Israel, it probably is the majority. Of course it’s these hateful mosques and that hateful scripture, Islam that is the issue, that is what changes a potentially bad muslim (infidel friendly) into a good observant muslim.
My perspective maybe different, i have only known muslims personally who have abandoned the Koran.
As for open door policies, I hate what they bring, they are coming for the wrong reasons, my experience is they come to take with no intention of integration, they get frustrated that their entitlement is not satisfied by their host and turn on us, many turning to that mosque where their hatred is approved of and justified for them.
I’m not sure anyone that becomes an observant muslim was good to begin with, well not since they were first indoctrinated as a child.
i don’t have an answer as to what to do with them today, too late for a values tests that could have filtered them on entry. I stick to the named agenda of this site, education of anyone who can still hear us “Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts”

UNCLE VLADDI says
The Left (being thieving criminal hypocrites) sees and treats Government as its own private piggy-bank, and them selves as Robing Hoods or “deliverologists” whose only function is to “redistribute” (steal) wealth and give it to “The Needy Poor,” starting with them selves and their friends, and only then, when all the real money is gone, borrowing what they need to bribe their voters with some of that “YAY FREE STUFF!” they always promise, by running up Chinese credit cards in our names. So, being delinquent libertines and all, they get to pose as the Nice Guys, pretending that hope IS a Plan, and sunny ways always await.
Then the inevitable crash comes when the Takers run out of the Makers’ money to spend, and the Conservatives get elected to clean up all their mistakes.
But the Liberals won’t go down without a fight, and so call the Conservatives BIG MEANIES (for daring to try to act like adults, rein in the spending spree, tighten belts, impose austerity measures to pay down the debt, etc.) while also demanding “civility” in politics – because of course no negligent criminal wants to hear about their crimes when being accused of them in public.
So “The Stupid Party” then routinely obliges and ties one hand behind its back, refusing to become usefully, dynamically ANGRY with (aka “Hateful!” towards) those poor liberals for committing their crimes, and in stead uses only the carrot to promise “lower taxes and more money in your pocket” – election claims which always fall flat, as the next cohort of ever-larger young voters, who have huge university and college debts but no income on which to pay taxes – join the voter rolls and fall for the libertines’ “YAY FREE STUFF!” promises again and again anyway.
Repeat endlessly.
So, Dear Millennials:
Every time you young idiots vote liberal, you put your selves further and further in debt. There is no “YAY FREE STUFF!” That’s no longer your evil parents’ voting to put your futures in hock so they can continue to party today – that’s all on YOU, now!
