“Across Turkey’s mosques, the Diyanet, or the directorate of religious affairs, organized calls to prayer and recitation of the ‘Conquest’ chapter in the Quran, broadcasting it over loudspeakers. Turkish mainstream media, including state-run Anadolu Agency, broadcast Islamic clerics telling followers the northeast Syria operation was ordained by God. The pro-government media outlet shared dozens of posts allegedly showing Muslims from around the world reciting the ‘Conquest’ chapter of the Quran in support of the Turkish military.”
The chapter in question is the 48th chapter of the Qur’an, which says, among other things: “Muhammad is the apostle of Allah. Those who follow him are ruthless to unbelievers, merciful to one another.” (48:29)
How is it that Erdogan and the Diyanet seem not to have grasped what is so patently obvious to Western non-Muslim leaders, that the Qur’an teaches peace and tolerance?
More on this story. “How Turkey’s Erdogan Portrayed Syria Offensive as a Pan-Islam Struggle,” by Rikar Hussein, VOA News, November 13, 2019:
WASHINGTON – As Turkey last month announced its military incursion into northeast Syria, Turkish officials said the operation was to “prevent the creation of a terror corridor” along Turkey’s southern border with Syria. Locally, however, their message added a religious zeal to the Muslim nation by depicting the offensive as an Islamic struggle against “infidels.”…
While announcing the operation on October 9, Erdogan tweeted in English that the operation by the Turkish army and its allied Syrian militants was to “neutralize terror threats” against Turkey by the Kurds and to establish a safe zone for the return of Syrian refugees. In his tweets in Turkish and Arabic, however, he described the forces as “the heroes of the Mohammadian Army” — a term dating back to the Ottoman Empire.
Days into the operation, Erdogan in several public speeches framed it in religious terms, claiming it was to protect the dignity of the ummah, or the Muslim world. During a speech at the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) group meeting on October 29, he praised the Turkey-backed Syrian rebels as “jihadists who even intimidate and kill death itself.”…
On October 25, after Friday’s prayer in an Istanbul mosque, Erdogan gave a speech citing the Quran and telling the worshippers that Allah has promised a victory to Muslims and commanded them to be hard on “infidels.”…

During a press conference in Antalya, Turkey, Saturday, Turkish Foreign Affairs Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said their Syria operation thwarted a Western plot to create a “terror state” in northeast Syria by empowering Kurdish forces.
“A group of countries led by Israel wanted to establish a terror state in northern Syria and we foiled their plans,” Cavusoglu said during a joint press conference with Hadi Soleimanpour, an adviser to the Iranian foreign ministry and secretary general of Economic Cooperation Organization.
Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu has made similar remarks, slamming the West, which according to him has “sworn to eliminate Islam and its people from these lands.”…

When Erdogan , who is the President of Turkey declared “Whoever is on the side of Israel ,let everyone know that we are against them.” This then by those words “against them.” Likewise must mean against him of her ,as an individual, who for the State of Israel
This must thus mean that they are also against Him. Who is God for being on the side of the Israel for being for Jewish State of Israel. As it is written in the Bible, “For the Lord has chosen Jacob for Himself, Israel for His special treasure.” Psalm 135:4. [N.K.J.V.]
Furthermore, the Jewish people have every right to all of that land that in now part of Israel, , including the West Bank and the Golan Heights by Divine Right. As seen, for example, in Genesis 28:13-15. 35:48, 49. Psalms 105:7-11. 135:4.
In addition the Jewish people should also have that land by historic rights. As found in First Kings 4:20,21,24,25. 8:55,56.
Moreover Erdogan must then also be against President Trump This is because President Trump had wisely said “It’s time to officially recognize [the reality of] Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.” Yes, indeed, it’s very much time to recognize Jerusalem as the capital city of the State of Israel, and he then acted on his word and he had done so by good decision of moving the US Embassy to Jerusalem .This bold and wise decision of President Trump to move the US embassy to Jerusalem has greatly offended many of the Muslim clerics . Be they, for example, the imams of Pakistan or the mullahs of Iran. Those Muslim clerics with their mind control and their unconscionable ways they manipulate the people from the mosques to be their stooges into a, violent uprising, because of the President’s decision is despicable . Some people of the left will say that the decision of move the US embassy to Jerusalem is “provoking” and it will “incite violence.” This only shows the old saying to be true .Which is that “Evil is always looking for an excuse. “ The fact is President Trump made the right decision and if the Muslim clerics don’t happen to like it ,well then it’s “tough beans.” to them
As the Bible informs its readers “The Lord also shall roar out of Zion, and utter His voice from Jerusalem … the Lord will be the hope of His people ,and the strength of the children of Israel.” Joel 3:16.

No wonder why Al-Baghdadi 1 and 2 and 3 lived in Erdogan’s armhole in the Turkish controlled Syrian territories. Erdogan supports Islamist Jihad and everyone know that Al-Nusrah and other Al-Qaeda affiliates have only Turkey as logistical supporting camp and hotel. Turkey hosts the majority of ISIS and Al-Qaeda affiliates and provide them the support they need. The current Turkish-Jihadist invasion against Syrian Kurds is conducted by Turkish Grey Wolves alongside ISIS, Al-Nusrah, former ISIS and Al-Nusrah and other al-Qaeda affiliates. The funny thing is that these Jiahdist thugs are using NATO weapons and German Leopard tanks!

…………………
Does it matter that Syria is a Muslim state, and that most Syrians are also Muslim? Not really–many of them are Shia or other “other sect” Muslims, and in any case even conflicts between same-sect Muslims can always be characterized in Islamic terms, as they see their enemies as “insufficiently Islamic”. Sometimes *both* sides see the other as not being Islamic enough.

Syria is an Arab country, and if Erdogan romanticizes about the Ottoman empire, he’d probably want to conquer not just Syria, but everything including the Arabian peninsula, which will give him all their oil as well. On top of that, if he owns Mecca and Medina, he can designate himself caliph

Certainly true, Infidel.
I just meant that his reference to the Qur’an is that of Muslims conquering Infidels–which Muslims probably find more compelling than Turkey just recapturing the lands of the Ottoman Empire.

Chef book your history. Most, again most of the middle east was Christian until the Muslim hoard raped, captured, and killed their way into supremacy in the areas.

Turkey should have been cut to size at the end of WW1 after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire. To keep Turkey now as member of NATO is obscene. Turkey wants to re-establish the Islamic Caliphate with Erdogan as its leader.
Infidel says
Gabriel, I have news for you. It was! Ottoman Turkey was an empire starting in Anatolia and going across the Levant, Mesopotamia and all of the Arabian Peninsula. During WWI, Lawrence of Arabia helped organize an Arab revolt against the Turks, and at the end of WWI, all that Turkey was left w/ was Anatolia. It’s hard to think of how much more Turkey could have been reduced.
Other mistakes were made – like the Brits and French carving out the region b/w themselves, rather than according to the ethnic makeup of the region

The following quote is from Tyyip Erdogan in 2008. What more evidence do we need of the Islamic war on non believers.
“Assimilation is a crime against humanity. There is no moderate or immoderate Islam, Islam is Islam. The mosques are our barracks, The minorets are our bayonets, The cupolas our helmets, and the faithful our soldiers.” Tyyip Erdogan, President of Turkey 2008.

On the substance, Erdogan is right. While the Arabs may have done the first wave of Islamization from Spain (since reversed) to Iran, it was the newly converted Turks, in the aftermath of the Iranian Samanid dynasty, which extended that to India, Anatolia, Europe as well as conquering all Arab domains.
After China, Turkey is now the leading rival to the West, and have their allies lined up – Pakistan, Malaysia, Sudan, Somalia, Qatar and probably the ‘stans’ as well
