The regime that Obama and the political and media elites did all they could to keep in power is deeply threatened.
“Protests Incited by Gas Price Hike Grip Iran,” by Farnaz Fassihi, New York Times, November 16, 2019:
Protests flared across Iran for a second day on Saturday, with angry crowds calling for the ouster of the regime in unrest incited by a steep increase in officially set gasoline prices but that quickly broadened to include other grievances.
At least six people were dead after security forces clashed with protesters, according to Persian language news outlets. Iran was also experiencing a “near-total national internet shutdown,” according to NetBlocks, which monitors cybersecurity.
“We don’t want an Islamic Republic, we don’t want it, we don’t want it,” demonstrators chanted in the middle-class Tehranpars neighborhood of Tehran….

I read their are many Iranians coming to Christ recently, by accessing Christian internet Programs & Sermons. There is a huge underground House Church Movement now, & God is answering their Prayers !* ” You will know the Truth & the Truth will Set you Free !*” (John 8:32)
Infidel says
That is good news. Ideally, I’d like to see Zoroastrianism make a comeback in Iran, maybe w/ some modern reforms (such as cremations replacing towers of silence, where cadavers are left for birds of prey, and allowing entry of people into the religion, and removing the automatic excommunication of people who marry out of it). Oh, and Mithraism as well
But if that is impossible, I’m fine w/ Christianity and even Judaism replacing Islam in that country

I agree Parsis are the model immigrants in India . They are behind a lot of advances in India including industrialization ,space technology , atomic science . Typical example is MR. Tata .No religious fanaticism .They are some of the finest examples of very highly evolved human beings .God bless Parsis.

It is not a religious question, it is a matter of freedom. Iranian youth have studies and culture, they have parties in flats and are aware of the religious repression that exists in their country. Iranians are not Arabs and that is very important in order to break the mental chains of Islamic communitarianism. Iranian youth has the right to aspire to live in freedom in their own country. Islam is a tool of oppression, of social control, in fact all religions are, but Islam is the maximum expression of that tool of submission.
Islamic Arab youth is a different case, along with the Berbers, Pakistanis, Mauritanians … it is impossible for them to never be free people. They are slaves who enslave through Islam.

Eur, this is a religious question in that there is no freedom under Islam.
European pagan says
I hope Iran will be a free and modern country, with religious freedom and freedom of speech, where people can live happy. I wish it from my heart.
Keys says
Truly, you are not alone in your heartfelt wish, European pagan.
However, if the Islamic leadership of Iran continues on their current course, there will be horrendous suffering for many, especially Iran’s chosen enemies think they are about to get nuclear weapons, internally or externally.
Keys says
Should say “… especially if Iran’s chosen enemies think that Iran is about to get nuclear weapons …
Infidel says
Not totally. If the Iranian regime ever falls, I’d want them to have the religious freedom to practice anything except Islam – be it Shia, Sunni, Bahai, whatever… Let them explore whether they wanna be Christians, Jews, Zoroastrians (my favorite for that country, which was Zoroastrian before it became Muslim), Buddhists (there during the Ilkhanate) or anything else being imported.
But none of the Muslim sects whatsoever!
yohanan says
Amnesty reported that 106 protesters have been killed in the Iranian security forces’ suppression of largely peaceful protests. “so far… possibly as many as 200”. The Basij, the paramilitary internal security force of the IRGC, is infamous for suppressing peaceful protesters. Again the world witnesses the state of human rights and freedoms in the Iranian Islamic Republic.

The Supreme leader will be ruthless. No doubt one of the reasons the internet was shut down was to prevent any visuals of the coming violence getting out.

Iranians are nice people, except for those fanatical Muslims who support their fanatical Muslim politicians.
Herb says
You are referring to the Imams and Clerics
Infidel says
Normal observant Iranian Muslims fit into that category as well. Only ones I’d trust would be apostates, as well as their local infidels – Christians, Jews and Zoroastrians

Shocking news to the obamadhimmicrat party. How will it react?
Angemon says
Oh, you’re going back to Zoroastrianism (or any other religion)? If not, even if this regime falls, there’ll eventually be another one.
Infidel says
Precisely! The Iranian people are no more worthy of our support than the Kurds: I’ve not heard either of them say that they’ll reject Islam and switch to something else. Given how proud Iranians are of their history, Zoroastrianism should be their first choice. But for those modernists who think that its teachings are too outdated, they could explore Christianity, Buddhism or even Scientology.
But not Islam! Be it Shia, Sunni, Bahai, or any other sect
gravenimage says
This is what I’m worried about, Angemon and Infidel. I don’t know that many Iranians are actually rejecting Islam. I hope they are, but would not count on it.
Kepha says
Best wishes to the Iranian people. But I’m increasingly of the mind that John Quincy Adams nailed it when he said that the USA does not go abroad in search of dragons to slay (a mistake begun with Woody Wilson), and is the well-wiisher of liberty everywhere, but champion only of its own.
Infidel says
A mistake that a few – such as President Trump, Sen Rand Paul and very few others – are trying to end. Unfortunately, theirs are a minority opinion in DC
jca reid says
“Official” reports say around 106 folk been killed by the Authorities. Other sources, (UN, Amnesty International etc.), say you can easily double that. & where are the Western Islamic Apologists now? Bet you they STILL can’t see, or simply don’t want to believe that Islam is a Fascistic, intolerant political ideology.
Infidel says
While you’re right about Islam being Fascistic, intolerant and everything else, Iran is not the example w/ which to demonstrate that, given that it is Shi’ite, and except Azerbaijan, Iraq and Bahrein, doesn’t share that w/ any other Muslim country. That example needs to be demonstrated w/ BIG Muslim countries, such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Turkey, Egypt, et al
gravenimage says
The horrors of Shari’ah are pretty much the same under Shia or Sunnis.
Infidel says
Yeah, but give the Iran example to any Sunni, and they will ascribe it to Iran being Shi’ite. I was suggesting the other examples to take that away from them
Walter Sieruk says
That cruel and tyrannical Islamic regime of Iran regime has severely limited to an extreme much knowledge and wisdom from the outside world . This is because that fiendish and murderous tyrant, Kim The ayatollahs and mullahs in power in Iran are very much afraid the Iranian people might discover different ideas . As the idea’s and philosophy of John Locke
For example, Locke views the people living under any genuine government are people retaining their individual rights after a government has been established. In other words, the securing of their rights – the protection of the life, liberty and property of all – is the sole legitimate purpose of government. If a government begins to abuse those rights it then becomes tyrannical and the governed [the people] retain the right to overthrow that government and replace it with one that does its job properly.
So that heinous ”mullah regime” of Iran , greatly fears such ideas and keeps the people under his hideous control of his tyranny in and the darkness of much limited information .
Walter Sieruk says
This brutal and cruel and regime of the mullahs and ayatollahs as well as other villains in power and control in this tyranny of Iran which so falsely and inappropriately has the word “Republic” in its title. This “mullah regime” is oppressive both in the physical sense to the people of Iran and also in the informational way. In that this tyrannical regime severely limits the information the Iranian people receive for the outside world. It stands to reason that the mullahs and others in power in Iran afraid the people might start think for themselves if outside information is received so it’s strongly restricted.
This is a reminder of the wise words the Thomas Jefferson had written. Which are “Enlighten the people, generally, and tyranny and oppression of body and mind will vanish like evil spirits at the dawn of day.” Likewise, Mr. Jefferson had nobly declared “I have sworn upon the alter of God eternal hostility against every from of tyranny over the mind of man.”
Walter Sieruk says
This Islamic tyrannical regime of Iran has been well nicknamed “the mullahs regime” in which them mullahs and ayatollahs as well as other fiendish and fanatical Muslims in power have a strong and awful control of the Islamic regime of Iran and through their band of Islamic state “police” , who are called the “Revolutionary Guards “come down hard human rights of the Iranian people .
Therefore, the Iranian people who are trapped and forced to exist in this Islamic tyranny live in terrible fear of the mullahs and others in power in Iran. This is a tragic and sad reminder of the wisdom that was printed in the periodical of Benjamin Franklin which is entitled POOR RICHARDS’ ALMANAC that reads “Those who are feared are also hated.”
Walter Sieruk says
About this tyrannical Islamic regime of Iran which has the official title of “The Islamic Republic of Iran” and also about the chief and head Imam, Ayatollah Khomeini, who had a strong hand in establishing this so called “Republic “ The very actual essence of that Islamic tyranny ,Ayatollah Khomeini had made in known that “The Islamic Republic of Iran would be Islamic and nothing but .He declared ‘What the nation wants is an Islamic Republic . Not just a Republic, not a democratic Republic, not a democratic Islamic Republic. Do not use the word “democratic” to describe it. That is the Western style. ‘” [1]
