This article from the Daily Mail, the worst paper in the Western world, identifies the attacker only as a “man dressed in black militant gear.” Of course there aren’t any militants in Jordan other than Islamic jihadists, but it has long been established that the British establishment media, like the establishment media all over the West, wants to make sure that readers don’t get any negative impression of Islam. Islamic jihadis in Muslim countries hate tourists, who are often visiting sites of jahiliyya, the pre-Islamic society of unbelievers. And if they’re visiting Muslim sites, they’re trampling them down under their Infidel feet. Either way, they’re not welcome.
“Tourist knife attack horror as four holidaymakers, local guide and security guard are stabbed ‘by man dressed in black militant gear’ in Jordan,” by Chris Pleasance, MailOnline, November 6, 2019 (thanks to Paul):
At least six people have been stabbed during a knife attack on tourists near Roman ruins in northern Jordan.
Four tourists were injured, two of them critically, alongside their guide when they were attacked near the city of Jerash around midday Wednesday, local media said.
A security officer was also seriously hurt while trying to arrest the attacker, and all five victims are now being treated in hospital.
Marco Junipero Serra, who claimed to have witnessed the attack, said that the knifeman was wearing ‘black militant gear including a head covering’.
Six people have been stabbed including four tourists after they were attacked by a man dressed in ‘militant gear’ at Roman ruins near the city of Jerash in Jordan on Wednesday
State newspaper Al-Rai reported that the security officer was stabbed three times and is undergoing surgery.
Two Mexican tourists are in critical condition in hospital, while a third is in good condition, the paper said. Their nationality was initially reported as Spanish.
Another tourist, a Swiss national, was injured but is in good condition….
In one video, a woman can be heard screaming in Spanish. ‘It’s a dagger, it’s a dagger, there is a knife. Please, help him now!’
Another witness, a Briton going by the Twitter handle Natalie S, said she saw two male victims and two female victims at the scene.
She added that security guards standing near by were holding a machete, but could not be certain it was the weapon used in the attack….
In December 2016, at Karak, home to one of the region’s biggest Crusader castles, 10 people were killed in an attack that also left 30 wounded.
The attack was claimed by the Islamic State group (IS). Ten people were ultimately sentenced for carrying out the attack….

There goes Jordan’s tourist trade. Petra or no Petra, stay away.
Christopher Watson says
No, it’s much worse than that. You have people who are sitting on some of the most valuable tourist and historical sites on the planet. There are millions of potential tourists in Europe, America and Asia who would love to visit Petra, the Pyramids, the Roman sites in Lebanon, Syria and Turkey. Also all over the middle east there are the burial sites of British and Allied troops from the 1st and 2nd World Wars. People would pay millions to pay their respects and learn from the past. But no. They would rather accept charity and live with no self-respect in poverty. Even Gaza could be a gold-mine. It’s all there – the Sun, the Sea. Build a few hotels, a few restaurants and bars, allow a few places to serve alcohol and it could be the Riviera or Las Vegas all over again. But it won’t happen. These people are SOOOO stupid.
GreekEmpress says
So true, Mr. Watson.
I would love to visit Anatolia where my family was from and see the Hagia Sofia where my ancestors worshipped way, way back.
But forget it as long as it’s under Turkish control. Not safe!
Lotus says
I went to Hagia Sophia years ago, when Turkey was a safer place to visit than today.
It’s a lovely building, but full of huge signs in Arabic proclaiming Islam’s superiority.
Still, I sat there and thought about all the Christian people who had worshipped there, and how it was a last place of refuge in 1453. Then it became a scene of horror as the Turks reached it and started to massacre the faithful.
I’m glad I went there, but I would not go back again, certainly not while the vile Erdogan is in charge.

I’m just back from Turkey last week,my 2nd time in a year and I was up visiting Ephesus . It is still a very safe country to visit out of those you mentioned. After refusing to go to the country for a number of years I found the people remarkably kind. Don’t believe all the hypertension but don’t be stupid either.Go to Turkey it’s great.

Terrorists are very likely to try to carry out attacks in Turkey…
Most terrorist attacks have taken place in the south-east of the country and in Ankara and Istanbul… there is a potential that citizens from western countries may be targets or caught up in attacks, particularly in the major cities…

Kidnapping is also a threat there.

It does happen. Gaza is full of luxury hotels and shopping and is on tripadvisor.
It just doesn’t make the MSM is all.

The Muslim world is indeed home to many treasures of art and history, most of it pre-Islamic. As much as I love this stuff I will not be visiting, though.

No, not stupid. Just muslim, and insane. They hate the infidel. It is as simple as that. they are not interested in making money. They are interested in dying for Allah.

And ‘Black militant gear’ :That usually tends to be fascist garb associated with folk like those virtue-signalling modern Bolsheviks, the antifa fascists, another group that like islamic fanatics never get IRONY and tend to have serious mental health issues.
islam:the religion of PEACE.
Where?
antifa;”antifascists” who behave EXACTLY like..fascists.
{They are leftwing fascists like the bolsheviks:the behavior( and tactics,the use of dissembling and propaganda,violence and treason)of communists and fascists is quite similar when you look at History}

The UK gives this travel warning about Jordan:
“Terrorists are very likely to try to carry out attacks in Jordan. Attacks could be indiscriminate including in places visited by foreigners, particularly hotels, shopping malls and tourist sites.”
That seems clear. Why do people continue, under such circumstances, to visit Jordan (or Iraq, Syria, Libya, Egypt, etc.)? There are nearly 200 countries to choose from. Why go to a Muslim country?
Jordan’s tourism industry was just recovering from the last terrorist attack, at al-Karak in 2017, when ten people were killed. Now it has to start all over again.

I’ve seen most of the OIC while in the USAF and airlines. Dubai is very nice and the only Muslim city I’ve felt safe walking around on my own unarmed (but I’d still never vacation there). Anywhere else in the OIC I’d only enter in a large well-armored and supported military package.

“Why do people continue, under such circumstances, to visit Jordan (or Iraq, Syria, Libya, Egypt, etc.)?”
My take: “that’s the sort of things that only happens to other people”. Most people forget they’re other people’s other people…

My mom-in-law went to Egypt in the 1990s–she was involved with Egyptology at a museum, but still this was not safe (this was after the Luxor Massacre).
Even more insane, my English cousin and her husband decided to celebrate their anniversary with a sail down the Nile–and ran right into the “Arab Spring” a few years ago. They were able to get out, but never did get to take their cruise…

It is a shame that tourists will be staying away from Petra and dead sea in the near future. Jodan has some of the most awesome things to see. But it is after all an islamic hell.

Petra may be “the rose-red city half as old as Time” but neither it, nor any other place in Jordan, is worth the risk of visiting.

Any stories involving Islam are never good. Perhaps non Muslims shouldn’t travel to ANY Muslim country. Like a boycott that would hit these countries’ economy hard as long as violence and killings are tolerated. And it doesn’t fair well for Europe as well.

Agree with you there – also consider the newly Islamised nations of UK, Sweden, Germany and France as being equally unsafe. Their governments would even incarcerate you for defending yourself while under attack.
