Pro-jihad students at our nation’s colleges and universities aren’t even trying to hide what they’re all about anymore. The Democrats and their allies have legitimized and mainstreamed Islamic antisemitism and the genocidal Jew-hatred of the “Palestinian” jihad forces.
“Oberlin College Students Erect Memorial to Palestinian Islamic Jihad Terrorists,” Algemeiner, November 24, 2019:
Anti-Zionist students at Oberlin College in Ohio erected a memorial last week commemorating the death of multiple Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorists.
Oberlin Students for a Free Palestine shared in a Facebook post on Thursday that it had installed a display in “commemoration of the 34 Palestinians killed by Israeli rocket fire this last week” in Wilder Bowl, a central outdoor space on campus where students often congregate.
A sign explaining the display stated, “Last week, Israel unleashed violent airstrikes on the Gaza Strip to assassinate Bahaa Abu al-Atta and his wife on Tuesday, November 12th. In the process, killing 34 unarmed Palestinian civilians, including 8 children.”
“Oberlin Students for a Free Palestine and Oberlin Jewish Voice for Peace have created this installation to commemorate the lives of these 34 Palestinians who died at the hands of Zionist Settler Colonialism,” it continued. “We list the names and ages of those who were lost on each black flag.”
The allegation does not accord with casualty tolls shared by international observers and the involved parties, including those in the Gaza Strip, which largely acknowledge that a majority of fatalities were members of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, an Iranian-backed terrorist organization that is blacklisted by the United States, European Union, and others. The group aims to replace Israel with an Islamic Palestinian state, and has taken responsibility for suicide bombings and other attacks targeting Israeli civilians.
The most recent flare-up began after Israel assassinated Baha Abu al-Atta, a senior Islamic Jihad commander, which led to an escalation that saw more than 450 rockets and mortars fired from Gaza at Israeli communities, and dozens of Israeli airstrikes on Islamic Jihad targets.
Palestinian sources have said 34 people were killed in the fighting, 16 of whom were civilians, including several children. The Israeli military has said that around 25 of the fatalities were members of terrorist organizations, and shared photos of some in Islamic Jihad fatigues. It also announced an investigation into a strike that killed eight civilians, the brother of an Islamic Jihad operative reportedly among them.
On the other side of the border, nearly 60 Israelis sustained injuries or received treatment for shock, while several rockets that were not intercepted by the Israeli military damaged homes, businesses, and roads.
The display erected by Oberlin Students for a Free Palestine, which advocates for boycotts, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) against Israel, did not mention Palestinian Islamic Jihad. In a Facebook post earlier this month, the student group said it would “shout the names of those that the IDF has killed,” listing Abu al-Atta and multiple other Islamic Jihad members, again without referring to their affiliation with the terrorist group.
BDS organizers on and off university campuses have long been accused of ignoring or supporting the goals and activities of terrorist groups like Islamic Jihad, Hamas, and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

Let’s hope that the decent alumni make their displeasure known, and that the President of the college denounces this outrage. It cannot be allowed to pass without comment from the administration.

Don’t count on it. Oberlin College is uber-liberal and thus devoid of common sense, moral intelligence and the facts (an unholy trinity that can be found again and again wherever Leftism reigns). I have known graduates of Oberlin and everyone of them was loony, the only variable being whether they were nice or mean in daily life. But respecting their knowledge of how the world really works, they were all out to lunch.
Should the Oberlin administration issue some kind of apologia for this egregious tribute, you can just assume on it being for pro forma’s sake and not sincerely meant at all. Damage control and nothing more.

Yeah! A BDS on Oberlin

The source of this news is a newspaper I have never heard of, the “Algemeiner”, which https://www.algemeiner.com/about/ says “was originally published in Yiddish.” Has this news been reported on by any local newspaper in Oberlin, Ohio? By the cable news networks? By the New York Times?
FYI says
“Jewish voice for peace”.
Shouldn’t they rename themselves “Jewish voice for the Shoah part II”
To the JVC:
SAHIH MUSLIM #6985
[“There is a jew behind me..kill him”}
Ask the muslims to explain THAT to you:what they have in store for the Jews…
Do you think they don’t mean it when they say they want to wipe out Israel and…. the Jews?

FYI hits nail on head. Good.

Interesting, a monument to a people that do not exist. When will people wake up to the fact there is no such race as Palestinians, they don’t exist and never in the history of the middle east have. People are not taught history anymore. It’s disgusting.

The real problem is the progressive jewish Sonderkomando that applaud this..
carpediadem says
Nice try. They are part of the large societal and religious probem that helps and applauds terrorists murder Jews.
Interestingly many member of JVP are not even Jewish.

The idea that the only problem with antisemitism is Jews is just bizarre.

When I was in high school, I thought that Oberlin must be a wonderful college to go to with all its special accomplishments. They have a famous music school, and they have political activities parallel to the presidential elections. t hought they were places where the smartest, the best and brightest went. Now it seems they are strongholds of the worst and dumbest. What is wrong with liberal arts colleges? They must have fallen prey to the elitism of the Left, the we are the greatest attitude which leads to treating the majority of the country as below one’s dignity.

All too often true. I say this as a UC Berkeley alumnus.

Because of the standard practice of Palestinian terrorist, to hide behind civilians, preferably behind women and children, the Israeli army has no free firing possibilities. The IDF aims to reduce civilian casualties and collateral damage at the lowest possible minimum. This is difficult, namely if missile launchers are deployed within schools, hospitals and housing areas.
On the other hand, the Palestinian terror organizations, Hamas, Hezbollah and Jihad, among others, require innocent victims. Without victims, the Palestinian terrorists loose an import political asset. It is part of their barbarous ideology.
PS: I wonder, if among the compassionate students are also “Jewish” students.

How long before these animals demand a monument to 9/11, from their point-of-view?

This is what comes of allowing Muslim Brotherhood aligned student associations to be formed in our colleges and universities.
Muslim Brotherhood aligned members of parliament are now supporting this kind of anti Semitic hatred.
This is just the beginning and if Canadians don’t stand up against this then the 1930’s Germany history will be repeated only this time it will be the Jews and Christians first, then the leftists and gays. Then they will come for YOU and I.
“First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me“ Martin Niemoller.
