Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Quraishi may have gotten the caliph job over Abdullah Qardash, who was named as al-Baghdadi’s successor in previous reports, precisely because he is a Quraishi, that is, a member of the Quraish tribe of Mecca, to which Muhammad also belonged. That is a requirement for the caliphate.
In any case, the jihad will go on. The movement was never based on the charisma of a powerful leader, and will not die with him. Mainstream analysts often miss this because they don’t have the remotest idea of what a caliphate really is, and why it matters.

“Egypt’s Sinai Province Swears Allegiance to New Islamic State Leader,” Reuters, November 3, 2019:
Egypt’s Islamic State affiliate, Sinai Province, has sworn allegiance to the new leader named by the group following the death of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the affiliate said on Telegram on Saturday.

Another news report that says U.S. forces killed Baghdadi. No they did not. Baghdadi killed himself along with three children. I believe it helps to be as precise with our language as possible since it is an aid to clear thinking.
gravenimage says
CogitoErgoSum, Baghdadi never would have blown himself up if the Americans didn’t have him cornered.
It’s not as though he felt so bad about his war crimes that he committed suicide.
Demetrios says
Exactly. He would have been caught by U.S. forces and would have been in custody or even killed
James says
now they say it was just two of his children. And of course he could have surrendered, so the US forces did not force him to kill himself and his 2 children.
gravenimage says
Yes–if he had surrendered his children would have been safe–but he was happier murdering them. God, I hate Islam.

The Corleone family will be disappointed! Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Quraishi? Who’s this schmuck?
Clowns!
Ray Jarman says
I just had an great idea. Since al-Quraishi has announced he is the new head of state, maybe President Trump should announce a new position at the State Department, Ambassador to ISIS. The perfect person for the position would be Ilhan Omar.
Infidel says
And the embassy should be built at Gaziantep, on the road to Raqqa, and Omar should be sent there, w/ her brothers, husbands, kids and anyone else she wants to have affairs w/. Hey, she could even shack up w/ Erdogan!
Infidel says
Egypt should never have gotten back the Sinai. If the Israelis had kept it and settled enough Jews there, there would be no ISIS there today.
Imagine – in all places in Egypt, where is ISIS? Not in Cairo or Alexandria or El Alamein or the Libyan Desert – they’re in Sinai!
Infidel says
Also, I’d like to think of this new caliph as Qardash, which is easier to think about!

This does not surprise–most Muslims love the idea of the savage Caliphate.

The problem is that as long as the Islamic ideology persists, there will always be a “new top dig” to replace one who was killed; as long as Islam is allowed to exist, there will always be a caliphate or one in the making.
Giacomo Latta says
Where is al-Quraishi? If he were indeed the number two in ISIS, the US should have waited until both were located then eliminated al-Baghdadi one day then eliminated al-Quraishi the next. I wonder if there would have been a long line to take over ISIS.
Trick_or_Treat says
US Special Forces also managed to splash Baghdadi’s number 2 only mere hours after Baghdadi rolled up his swag here (and top marks to them). So now you have Abu Ibrahim al-Hashemi as the new CEO and General Manager of the shit heap [and new #1 Top Target).
No Muzzies Here says
As long as the ideology persists, it will inspire individuals to form political movements whose goal is the establishment of a religion as the official and the only religion.

soon to be X caliphate BOOM here comes the US military…..
Angemon says
Yup. Other islamic terror groups pledged allegiance to ISIS, not Baghdadi. Doesn’t matter whose ass heats up the seat as long as the ass is islamic…
