The principle is always and everywhere the same: in Muslim countries, one must conform one’s behavior to suit Muslim sensibilities. And in non-Muslim countries, one must conform one’s behavior to suit Muslim sensibilities.
“‘We were furious’: Uber driver rejects couple because of their Christmas ham,” 3aw.com, December 19, 2019:
A couple were left stranded and out of pocket after a rideshare driver refused to pick them up because they had a Christmas ham
The couple had been for dinner at their local RSL in Melbourne’s south-east on Tuesday night, and picked up a ham they’d won there a few weeks ago.
They ordered an Uber, but as they approached the car the driver told them the ride was cancelled.
“My husband had it (the ham) in his hand and the boot opened,” stranded passenger Marion told 3AW’s Kate and Quarters.
“The guy said ‘what’s that?”
“My husband said ‘it’s ham’, and he said ‘no, you can’t get in. The trip is cancelled.”
The driver told the couple he wouldn’t take them home with the ham because he was Muslim,
But when Marion checked her bank account she got a rude shock.
She’d been charged a cancellation fee from Uber for the ride which the driver cancelled!…
Hugh Fitzgerald says
All over the Western world, the same law needs to be passed
No driver — whether Uber, Lyft, or regular taxi — may refuse a fare on religious grounds. These include a refusal based on food (as hams), drinks (as wine, beer or other alcohol), domestic pets (dogs) or service animals (seeing-eye dogs).
Something like that.
Savvy Kafir says
Agreed! And refusal to abide by Western standards should be grounds for deportation.
Lion Heart says
Savvy Kafir : first of all , I wanna say to Australia and all the western world: RIP ? secondly , you’re absolutely right ? , and All Muslims should be kicked out of the western world because they wreak havoc there and SHAME ON the western politicians and leaders fo flooding the West with Muslims while they took in only FEW persecuted-by-Islam – middle eastern Christians !!! and what’s funny Muslims in the west act as if they are angels and moral while all the CORRUPTION exists in their religion ! So that SCUM Uber driver refused to pick up the couple because they had ham while it’s OKAY in his cult to rape no Muslim women ( Quran 4:24 ) as his fellow Muslims did to Iraqi Christian girls and to yazidi girls! That’s the cult logic !!and that PROVES my point once again and again that “ NEVER EVER trust any Muslim no matter how nice they may be ! because at the end of the day , they will show their real evil Islamic face !! and I am a Canadian Christian guy originally from Iraq and we know how evil Islam is more than any other nation in the world as we have been suffering from Islam since its rise especially after the fall of Saddam’s bloody regime. Once again , I will repeat the proverb said by our Christian ancestors in Iraq hundreds of years ago: “ If a Muslim is a piece of gold, don’t put it in your pocket otherwise it will rip through “ which means that Muslims would stab non-Muslims especially the Christians in the back when they have the chance to do it especially when they take Islam seriously and we saw their betrayal to Iraqi Christians after 2003 especially in Baghdad and Mosul .
Susan Webster says
Hi Lionheart, good to know the ancient proverb. They (Islamics) are certainly expert in deception! I read somewhere that President Trump is taking in persecuted Christians and Yazidis – can anyone confirm this?
Jhn1 says
He was trying, but both the State Department and Immigration were fighting him on it.
gravenimage says
Very much agree, Hugh.
I’m a vegetarian and I seldom drink, but if I drove for Uber I would *never* consider refusing a fare under these conditions.
And other Muslim Uber drivers and cabbies have also refused to give rides to Jews and Gays.

And guide dogs!

So if you are a religiously observant Jew,a Gay man,an apostate ex-muslim Atheist or a Christian with a leg of bacon or a guide dog, you’ll just have to forget Uber ….if the driver is a “devout” muslim..and if his name is mu-HAM-mad he probably won’t like it pointed out to him..

This has also happened in the UK.

This works at Target. Fill your cart with food and other items including pork products. Find a muslim checkout clerk. Make sure that half the stuff is on the belt, and half in the cart. When the cashier says they can’t scan the pork (or alcohol), and goes to get another employee……apologize for the indiscretion and walk out of the store.

And Australia has a moral obligation to deport this Moslem Uber driver. The driver can get a job driving a camel in Syria.
Savvy Kafir says

JamesC says
I wonder whether the implications of such a law are being borne in mind. Any law that obliges Muslims, would, at least in principle, have to oblige non-Muslims as well. The Law of Unintended Consequences needs bearing in mind as well.
At what point does the freedom of the Muslim to avoid pork products collide with the freedom of the non-Muslim to have the use or possession of those products ? And on what grounds is such a case to be decided ?
Is the state not on rather dangerous ground, if it requires religion to be subject to it ? European experiments in subjecting religion to the state have often been less than benign. Perhaps the suppression of the Thuggee cult in British India in the 19th century can throw some light on the subject: Thugs were hanged for murder, even though those murders could be defended as acts of religion in honour of Kali/Durga. In today’s secular liberal democracies, subjecting religion to the state could easily lead to statism of a very ugly kind, and to violation of the rights of conscience.
andra says
In Germany religion has been subjected to the state for a long time – and it worked pretty well. Only lately times have changed and only because of the muzzies the law starts again to ask for your religion and stops to ask for the rules of our country.
We just had a case of gang banging. The rapers only have to pay a fee – like in Sharia countries, the world rape does not occur in the courts explanation. Very often the ask an Imam how to deal with a Muslim divorce.
If you do not subject the Religion to the state in a country with Muslims you soon have Sharia law. And I am afraid that it will not take too long anymore that rape victims of muslims get forced to marry the rapers.
gravenimage says
Disturbing, Andra.
Heidi says
Andra, unfortunately those types of verdicts are being passed in Germany numerous times. When I read the verdict I could not believe it and I feel deeply sorry for those girls because they were raped a second time by the judge. Hopefully the prosecuting attorney will appeal the verdict. From the start he had the impression that the judge was biased. Those rapist are only fined because they filmed this heinuous crime and didn’t ask the victims if they consented to being filmed. Look at our judicial system and see how many of those type of judges have infiltrated it.

The application of the law would be curative….but, the problem is recognition of the tyranny of Islamic belief. Appropo a ‘ham’ for someones dinner table. What business is it of a muslim to refuse another the privilege of eating what they like, and merely carrying the food items in a cab?
A very religious Jew would if he was a driver of said cab, have no such idea of refusing passage to people based upon what they are carrying. That is, because the more comprehensive ‘Kashrut’ laws have no effect on anyone else… period. That the principle of freedom is denied by Islam is what needs to be explored, exposed and shown for the tyranny it is, the tyranny it represents, and the effect upon ‘normal’ muslims. It is not merely ‘Jihadists’ who are a venal threat to the lives of non muslims, but the ‘normal’ muslim who follows the sharia laws that are to be imposed upon all peoples everywhere. This is the other side of the battle: the first to show the reality of Jihad in Islam, and the effect of Jihad upon all others, and the second- this one. The normative Islamic idea that it’s rules have effects and must be applied to all others, such as the mere carrying of a food item forbidden to muslims. This is the battle that must be strengthened and understood as the price we must exact to preserve our liberty.

Not sure this is correct. Minneapolis had a similar problem where Muslim cabbies we’re refusing rides to people with dogs (including guide dogs), people carrying packaged liquor, and others. Authorities were not on the customers’ side, basically saying, “What’s the big deal. The cabbie lost the fare, basically penalizing himself.” The correct answer, of course, would have been your rule: take all comers, or quit being a taxi driver. But that’s not the solution the thought police allowed.
dsr says
You don’t need a law, it is the law already. sue the bastards under freedom of religion
mortimer says
Dear Mr. Fitzgerald, I know something of the taxi business. Regular, licensed cabbies are required by city by-laws to pick up anyone who provides a destination address. They may not discriminate for other reasons. UBER is simply ‘the wild West show’. I discourage people from using UBER and thoroughly disapprove of them.
gravenimage says
Mortimer, what you say is true–but there has been trouble with regular Muslim cab drivers for years, licensed or not. I’ve had trouble with several myself. Uber is not the only problem here, but any Muslim dealing with Infidel customers.
Savvy Kafir says

I heard about this outrageous behaviour by the Muslim driver on the radio here in Australia a few days ago. The thing that struck me was the unbelievably primitive thought processes of this Muslim, who seems to think that the ham, wrapped up in its plastic packaging could seep out and attack his Muslimness like some type of thing from a horror movie. It is a disgrace that we let people who think like this into our countries. Of course, there’s also the appalling arrogance ( maybe, Islamic supremacism) of this driver to think he is allowed to act in this way. When I mentioned this, a commentator named Yokel, (thanks for information Yokel) mentioned the case of a factory producing pork pies and whatnot in the UK, which had a bunch of Muslim move into houses nearby and then complain about the pork producing factory. Yokel mentioned that the Muslims claimed the “miasma” from the pork would somehow infect them. The same insane sort of thinking that this uber driver must have. People with such primitive mentalities don’t belong in the modern world. This uber driver doesn’t have a chance in the world of fitting in with our fairly easy going western way of life
Patti Pickerd says
If they can’t follow/honor western world values! Then it’s definitely time to send them all back to wheresoever they came from!!!!!!!
tim gallagher says
Couldn’t agree more, Patti. In my comment up above, I said that I had mentioned this case and I meant that I mentioned it here at Jihad watch and Yokel was a person who commented here on Jihad Watch. He said that Jihad Watch had previously dealt with the factory, which produced pork pies, in the UK which the Muslims who moved in nearby had complained about. The IQs of some of these Muslims must be close to zero with their truly bizarre, primitive way of looking at the world.

Muslims believe they are following the true religion. We have to be just as arrogant in our belief. I’d tell the sob it was none of his business or one might say that the ham was a ‘leg of lamb’.

tim gallagher says
rubiconcrest, I feel that with too many Muslims, maybe most of them, it is them or us. They have attitudes which are totally incompatible with our western values. As you say, they are sure that their barbaric garbage is the truth. This uber driver, thinking he has the right treat his infidel customers so badly, is a clear example. I’d say, just keep them out of our countries. Too often, letting Muslims in is just inviting trouble. gravenimage, what you wrote up above about being a vegetarian, etc, but not thinking for one moment of imposing your way of life on customers, if you were a cabbie, is, of course, the right attitude. If you are in a service industry, that’s how you behave. I’ve got to say, when I first heard about this incident on the radio, I thought, you’re kidding, that can’t have happened. I realise it is not a particularly big issue, but I honestly couldn’t believe the uber driver would display such arrogance and rudeness. I had go and check out whether it was true.

Solution? Institute Friday night pig racing. Search YouTube for “Katy, TX hog races”. THIS is how you deal with them
tim gallagher says
That is a very good way to deal with the whingeing, whining Muslims, TheRemorselessHeadsman, instead of this crap where we are so often too nice and cave in to their garbage.
gravenimage says
Yes–Muslims have done things like this before.
In one case–I forget the country (Australia?), but it was reported here at Jihad Watch–Muslims also set up a Mosque next to a bar that held BBQ cookouts in front on weekends during the Summer. The Muslims tried to get not just the cookouts shut down, but the bar itself. Last I heard, the bar owners were telling them to sod off.
tim gallagher says
gravenimage, I haven’t heard of that problem with a bar and BBQ cookouts, but it could have been Australia. I only hear about some of these types of problems, although there are certainly no shortage of them all around the world. Often, the mainstream media often don’t cover them at all. This uber driver incident is an example. I just happened to hear about it on the radio, I think on a news bulletin. Look, I guess it is minor news in the scheme of things, and much of the TV news out here is quite rightly taken up with the extraordinarily bad bushfires we are having all over Australia after a very long-running drought, ( it is unbelievably dry in most parts of Australia and air quality pretty terrible on many days in many areas – there’s kind of an eerie feeling around as one of my sisters said to me and there is not a very happy feeling around this Christmas, but rather many worried people around as the fires just keep on burning and burning) but the uber driver incident certainly didn’t get any mentions on any TV news that I’ve seen. It certainly would not have been heard of by most people in Australia.
gravenimage says
Tim, I still haven’t been able to find that story I was looking for–it’s from a couple of years ago–but here is a disturbing one from Germany:
“Sharia Germany: Police stop pork barbecue for fear of offending Muslims, Muslim migrants attack participants”
https://www.jihadwatch.org/2019/06/sharia-germany-police-stop-pork-barbecue-for-fear-of-offending-muslims-muslim-migrants-attack-participants
I have heard about the terrible fires in Australia–very concerning. I hope none of them are “forest fire Jihad”, and that they are contained soon. I also understand that a lot of koala habitat has been destroyed.
These fires are receiving pretty wide coverage here in the States.
Despite all the problems in the world, I hope you and your sisters and all of your loved ones have a very Merry Christmas.
tim gallagher says
Thanks very much for the Christmas wishes, gravenimage. I wish you and your family and loved ones a Merry Christmas as well. I don’t think any of the fires have had anything to do with jihad activities. A few have been lit by arsonists, but they seem to have been delinquent and, maybe, angry teens or other people with a few mental health issues. The problem is mainly that there has been a very long drought and everything is so bone dry that lightning strikes or anything else set off raging fires. You’re right about the koalas. They are certainly extraordinarily cute animals, but seem to be like sitting ducks in bushfires. Very slow moving, etc. They are definitely losing a lot of their habitat. I was visiting some family members ahead of Christmas today and one of my sisters and her husband had recently visited a veterinary hospital for koalas on the north coast of New South Wales and had a few nice photos of injured koalas. The pork report from Germany is interesting. The incompatibilities between our way of life and Islam seem neverending. I believe it is generally a futile exercise to try to get along with Muslims. Despite the world’s problems, life is pretty interesting and quite enjoyable much of the time.

The Internet based businesses get away with stealing from customers usually because there is no person in the area that holds corporate responsibility. This is becoming a serious problem for consumers who are purposely or inadvertently defrauded. Uber has an automotive inspection station on Plummer St, Port Melbourne, but no one who could represent Uber in court to settle mis-charges.
The driver, of course, should be removed from Uber. Who actually believes Uber will do the right thing, at all?
It’s time for legislation that requires, as a privilege of doing business, that major Internet-based companiesn representative appear, with compensation authority, at any location where these sorts of legitimate grievances occur for arbitration or compensation. With law that cannot be enforced, these types of companies will only lead to further predation and corruption.

If that girl isn’t Muslim then she’s just a sexy drunken whore who you can despise and crave at the same time. I know this because of first hand reports of how ISIS members would spew Quran verses while raping Christian girls.
So will there be new rules for Australian Muslim Uber drivers or new rules for their non-Muslim customers?
Will Uber now have a customer check box for the Muslim driver so he can refuse someone with a dog, or ham, or yarmulke, or sporting non-Islamic religious symbols?
Ed Lee says
Travis Kalanick, the founder and former CEO of Uber has recently sold over 90% of his Uber stock, and just a few days ago I read that he has announced his intention to sell his entire position. Over the past several months Uber stock has declined significantly while the rest of the market has enjoyed strong gains. One of two things will happen. Either Uber will collapse and disappear, or new management will come in and fix all the problems. Whichever way it proceeds, it will be better than the current situation.

If Uber’s earnings and cash flow continue to be negative, they will be forced to make changes. The current CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi, has not made substantive changes since Kalanick stepped down, still refusing to conduct adequate background checks on driver applicants. That policy is biting him in the ass. How much longer it takes for him, and the board of directors, to feel the pain is the unknown. Wall Street won’t address this driver problem in public, but the stock price decline says they are concerned about it.

Geof Barrington says
I’m going to start refusing muslum drivers .
andra says
I guess you might get sued for islamophobia and hatespeech.
gravenimage says
Geof, this is not always easy.
Once when I had a knee injury I declined the next cab in queue because it was an SUV that I couldn’t manage with my injury, and no other driver would allow me to take a cab out of order, even though this had nothing to do with my specifically refusing the driver. I had to wait until new cabs joined the line (luckily this was at a hotel and the queue moved quickly; otherwise I would have been in trouble).
I’m not sure you could get other cabbies to pick you up if you refused one at a cab stand–it could be a problem.
Another issue is that in some areas almost all of the cabbies are Muslim.
As for Uber and Lyft, I know that refusing a driver can result in having to pay a cancellation fee, just as happened to the couple above.
Another problem is that Muslims are not always identifiable by name and looks (especially a picture less than the size of a penny on your cell phone). And while in a large city you can generally expect to find several Uber cars in the area, in a smaller town you might not have the option of another driver.
Not meaning to be a naysayer, just noting that this is not always as simple as it might seem.
Dawne says
Here in the UK Uber is only really in London and all Uber drivers I’ve ever seen are Muslim. In fact I’d go so far as to say that most cities mini-cab (as opposed to London black cab) drivers are Muslim. Maybe, just maybe people should stop using Uber and minicab firms that use Muslim drivers? You don’t have to proclaim doing this, just work out which firms you do or don’t want to use and then do that. I don’t live in London now (thankfully) but I did this for the last few years we were living there.
I don’t patronise Muslim businesses either. In our new village I went to the dry cleaner for the first time and it’s run by a Muslim family – well sorry, but I’m not going back there again, I’ve found somewhere else run by Britons. You have to vote with your feet because their attitude is never going to change.
Infidel says
That’s what I do. Whenever I go to a restaurant and see that either the employees or the proprietors are Muslim, that’s the last time I eat there, and I move on. Once I find a place that’s good, it’s on my shopping list.
Also, whenever I buy anything, I check the ‘Made in’ label. If it’s Made in a Muslim country – Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Egypt, Turkey, et al, I don’t buy it. If it’s made in a non Muslim country – even a country that’s left leaning but non Muslim – China, Cambodia, Nicaragua, et al, I go ahead and buy it. (I do wish I could boycott China, but it’s not easy combining multiple boycott criteria, so I go w/ just the Muslim one)

Muslim Uber driver refuses couple because they had a Christmas ham
It seems to me that muslims’ hatred for us is reaching a whole new level with behavior like this. I mean, we already knew most of them are against us and our freedoms, but to act so cold hearted over a ham? And how does that hurt this muslim, anyway? is he so insecure in his faith that another person’s food compels him to act like an anti-social pr*ck? I gotta ask, how could we ever live multiculturally with these people? The answer of course is, we can’t. This ain’t just about a ham, it’s about an entire culture of abuse muslims are bringing in, the rape, the enclaves, the FGM, and antisemitism and murderous homophobia, and their thousands of mosques–those dens of iniquity–that perpetuate the murderous ignorance of allah. It’s all so wrong, it’s all so threatening, and we have a right to defend against it.
We got some in this forum that think the best course is to be introspective and “find ourselves” and then muslims will want to leave. Don’t listen to them, this is a real war that requires real action, not pie in the sky solutions. Islam has never been persuaded by the good example of others, if anything it makes muslims hate them more. The Jewish nation and people are a good example of this, they’re a good and intelligent people and a positive contribution to civilization, but muslims hate the hell out of them. Jihad wasn’t put on hold because the Jews set the better example for human rights and freedom, no, muslims hate them more than ever. Islam is more about hate and bigotry than anything, because their god teaches bigotry and hate. This ain’t just about a ham, it’s about defending our entire culture, our freedoms, and our nation, from a serious ideological threat and the people who live it.

f Islam says that pork is “unclean”, then what do Muslims think about those of us who EAT THE STUFF? –Crusades
I think this incident makes clear what some of them think of us–not much. They have so much contempt for us that they’ll use a harmless food preference to discriminate and humiliate and inconvenience us. This is the kind of small, petty mindedness that islam creates, people whose “piety” involves insulting and discriminating against others. But this bigoted stupidity is part and parcel of what makes islam what it is:a self-centered, babyish, “all about me,” kind of religion, ’till death do us part. They worry about a ham in the trunk, but don’t seem to care one bit about the vile stupidity of the god they worship. This muslim is so retarded in his indoctrination for islam that he feels more devout in hurting others than just kindly accepting the right of others to eat what they want. It’s the kind of bigoted ignorance I see a lot among people blinded by their religion, islam is the worst of the bunch.

David, when the Muslim cab driver a few years ago began giving me a hard time for being out with a male friend without my husband (he’d been listening to our conversation, when I talked about my husband whom I mentioned by name waiting up for me).
I *did not* tell him that my friend was Gay. I also didn’t tell him that my friend was also Jewish, went to pro-Israel demonstrations, was dealing with a serious illness which left him tired (which is why we were taking a cab back), and that we were on our way back from hearing Nonie Darwish speak at UC Berkeley. My friend also did pet rescue–although we didn’t have any dogs with us at the time.
All of this is true; my friend and I laughed about this later. He said that we were like the Trifecta of Haram fares for this Muslim thug.
I did call the cab company about this inappropriate driver, but I didn’t get anywhere. The dispatcher sounded like one of the driver’s relatives, and probably was.

A barbarian might consider siccing the dog on the muslim, rewarding the dog with the ham, and then having a celebratory drink. Just sayin’.
