As Islamic leaders assemble in Malaysia to “revive the spirit of the Muslim world” and unite fellow Muslims who are currently at war with one another, their summit has been beset with problems. The summit was intended to do just the opposite: strengthen ties within the Muslim world. But Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary General Yousef al-Othaimeen isn’t impressed. He accused the gathering of dividing Muslims:
It is not in the interest of an Islamic nation to hold summits and meetings outside the framework of the (OIC), especially at this time when the world is witnessing multiple conflicts….any weakening of the OIC platform is a weakening of Islam and Muslims.
The summit was snubbed by Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. It’s odd to see Pakistan missing from the summit, since that country is a global leader in trying to compel free nations to adopt Islamic blasphemy laws. As expected, the summit descended into complaining about “Islamophobia” and slamming infidels. Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad stated:
We feel that we need to overcome Islamophobia. We need to find a way to address our shortcomings, our dependency on non-Muslims to protect ourselves against the enemies of Islam,” he said at a welcoming dinner, without elaborating.
At every turn, Islamic supremacists are doing all they can to shut down the freedom of speech and force global adherence to the Sharia.
“Malaysia Summit causing divisions in Muslim world,” Channel News Asia, December 19, 2019:
RIYADH: The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Wednesday (Dec 18) mounted a veiled attack on a Muslim summit in Malaysia shunned by Saudi Arabia, saying such gatherings would weaken Islam.
Leaders of Muslim nations, including Saudi rivals Iran, Turkey and Qatar, will attend the summit this week in Kuala Lumpur, which analysts say is aimed at rivalling the OIC, a 57-member pan-Islamic body headquartered in the Saudi city of Jeddah.
Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad dismissed those concerns in a phone call on Tuesday with Saudi Arabia’s King Salman, insisting the summit was not intended to create a new bloc.
But in thinly veiled criticism of the four-day summit starting on Wednesday, OIC Secretary General Yousef al-Othaimeen said such gatherings would divide Muslims.
“It is not in the interest of an Islamic nation to hold summits and meetings outside the framework of the (OIC), especially at this time when the world is witnessing multiple conflicts,” Othaimeen told Sky News Arabia, without directly naming Malaysia.
He added that “any weakening of the OIC platform is a weakening of Islam and Muslims.”
Malaysian officials say King Salman was invited to the Kuala Lumpur meeting but was not attending.
In his call with Mahathir, the king insisted that issues pertaining to the Muslim world should be channelled through the OIC “in order to achieve unity”, the official Saudi Press Agency reported.
In a sign that Riyadh was unhappy about the event, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan cancelled his attendance after a recent visit to Saudi Arabia, reportedly to assuage his ally’s concerns.
With the president of the kingdom’s arch-rival Iran and the emir of Qatar – under a two-year Riyadh-led blockade – in attendance, there has been speculation the forum could be used to counter the kingdom’s influence….

The muslim world is endlessly self-dividing.
mortimer says
Ha, ha … in other words, the Malaysian calls for ‘unity’ of Muslims is actually ‘DIVISIVE’ … !!!
HA, HA, HA, HA …
Whatever ya do, DON’T ask Muslims to be more united! They’ll be throwing bombs at each other in no time!
Question: what is the life span of a Saudi Royal’s food taster? Just asking!

So they don’t believe diversity is their greatest strength?

Haters gonna hate.
I know this is a rather trite expression, but I can’t think of anything that describes Muslims better.

“We feel that we need to overcome Islamophobia. We need to find a way to address our shortcomings, our dependency on non-Muslims to protect ourselves against the enemies of Islam,” As stated by Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad is pure irony.
How many times has a western nation been requested to provide aid against a neighboring nation or other rival as have the Saudis in their fight against Iran or the Kuwaitis begging for assistance against the hostilities of Saddam Hussein and the list goes on and what is the thanks for western help? After the west, the United States in particular, aided the mujahidin in Afghanistan, they rewarded America with the attacks of September 11, 2001.
CogitoErgoSum says
I don’t see how a Muslim can call upon a non-Muslim for help in any kind of fighting. Verse 9:29 of the Koran tells Muslims they are to fight against all non-Muslims until they either become Muslims themselves or pay the Jizya to become Dhimmis. Dhimmis are despised and are not to be considered trustworthy enough to fight alongside Muslims. The Saudis must know all this. The only reason they call upon the U.S. to do any fighting is because they would prefer to see Americans killed in battle instead of their own people. They are playing the Americans for fools and the Americans are playing the part perfectly.

I see no error in your perspective.

So Pakistan decided that it doesn’t want to alienate Saudi Arabia? Given the refusal of both the Saudis and Emiratis to support them against India, maybe they should hit Qatar for all the money they’re asking the Saudis for, and join the Turkey-led bloc in the ummah.
Point to note: OIC Secretary General Yousef al-Othaimeen is a Saudi, which is why he’s attacked this summit, which is Turkey/Qatar led

Just more jockeying for power–all these Muslims want to lead the vicious Ummah.

Hi Christine, good food for thought, as the Muslim extremists tear each other apart, a traditional historic activity that hopefully will weaken the OIC control of the rabid UN horde.

We live in hope that they will tear each other apart.
