My latest in PJ Media:
The cannibal Reza Aslan has somewhat faded from the public eye since he was fired by CNN for prematurely revealing that they’re a propaganda ministry, not a news outlet. He also recently exhorted readers in his last book to take the advice of the oldest and most celebrated self-improvement coach, Satan: “take a lesson from Adam and Eve and eat the forbidden fruit. Do not fear God. You are God.” Now, says LA Weekly, “he’s an E.P. on a new Chuck Lorre CBS comedy called The United States of Al, which aims to ‘de-exotify’ a Muslim character for a mainstream audience.”
Aslan has wanted to do this for a long time. “I’m waiting for a Muslim ‘All in the Family,’” he said in 2016. “Muslims are never going to feel like a part of the American family until people start to make fun of them on TV. That’s how minds have always been changed in this country.” Really? After all, we all know how much Muslims love being made fun of. And can Reza Aslan give us a single other example of a group that started “to feel like a part of the American family” when people started “to make fun of them on TV”?
This is just another spurious claim of Muslim victimhood from someone who has made a tidy living in the Muslims-Are-Victims industry, Reza Aslan. And it is more muddled thinking from a spectacularly muddled thinker. Which marginalized group began to “feel like a part of the American family” because they were made fun of “All in the Family”? Right-wing racist bigots? Polish hippies who were dubbed “Meathead” by their fathers-in-law?
Aslan here probably meant not “All in the Family,” but something like “The Cosby Show,” which has been invoked before in the same way (before the spectacular fall of Cosby): Katie Couric said a few years ago that we needed a Muslim “Cosby Show,” i.e., a TV show that shows Muslims as just ordinary folks, and this will supposedly melt away the alleged prejudice that Americans have toward them.
The fallacy of that reasoning lies in the fact that when “The Cosby Show” aired, there were no international black terror groups mounting terror attacks in the U.S. and around the world, and boasting of their imminent conquest of the U.S. The suspicion that Americans have of Islam comes from jihad terror and Islamic supremacism, not from racism and bigotry, and Americans know this distinction, despite the best efforts of people like Reza Aslan to obscure it and make people feel guilty for opposing jihad terror. Some slick TV show depicting funny, warm, attractive, cuddly Muslims would not end jihad terror, or blunt concern about it — it would only serve to further the idea that resisting jihad violence was somehow “bigoted.”
There is much more. Read the rest here.
N. P. Broam says
There is (or was) a show on the Canadian propaganda network (CBC)
called “Little mosque on the Prairie” so the warm and cuddly comedy show featuring the mooselimb next door has already been done. I have never watched an episode, but I am sure it warmed the hearts of all six of the progressives who tuned in.

IIRC, there was a “cuddly” documentary series in the US called “American Muslim”. It didn’t last beyond the first season.

I don’t care if muslims feel at home here or not. I would prefer that they do not. I would prefer that they and their demands for special favors were not here at all.
Like the song “Imagine”. Imagine fewer rapes, no crazed knife attacks at all, no demands for “prayer” rooms, no Halloween costumes scaring little children, no wild waving buttocks in traffic or blocking sidewalks, no put up lawsuits about perceived insults, no “honor killing” of their own children, no preaching of senseless hatred of infidels and Jews.
Now imagine another song; “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly” !
Save Europe says
In the U.K., we have a dreadful, unfunny, supposedly ‘comedy’ show called Citizen Khan. It was designed to make Muslims look all warm and fuzzy.
It didn’t.
Meanwhile, I await Saudi TV to make a show called ‘Little Church betwixt the Sand Dunes.’
pfwag says
Gee… a comedy about chopping off heads. How entertaining.
mortimer says
But that’s just it, dear pfwag! There won’t be a single thing NEGATIVE in the show about Islam and thus the show will be BORING AS HELL and UNFUNNY AS A TOOTHACHE!
The show will not entertain anyone. It’ll be a sitcom in drag with 7th century clothes.
oldschool says
” it would only serve to further the idea that resisting jihad violence was somehow “bigoted.”” – this is the idea of course. When Muslims are ordered by their religious teachings not to befriend infidels the chances that such a “comedy” could be believable are slim to none, so there is really no where to go with this. But maybe at least when we don’t watch it there will be another example of Western bigotry. Muslims aren’t funny, the news we hear every day about them aren’t funny, their endless complaints and whining are not funny.
AP says
Dipping the fly in your soup with one wing and then the other, or a steaming hot cup of camel urine. How much funnier can it get. Mo was a riot!
paul 316 says
Katie Couric with more astounding wisdom from the dumpster bin, a muslim comedy? Doesn’t she know that having fun or making fun of muslims is haram. Mo would be very displeased, off with the producers head! Who in their right mind would even think to tune in to such crap? Sure I want to laugh at a group of people who want to oppress me… when I know that their tactics of suppression are failing… badly.
gravenimage says
Any such comedy would not be making fun of Muslims, not even gently. All “Muslim comedy” I have seen makes fun of Infidels for supposed ignorance of Muslims. I’m sure this would be the same.

mortimer says
The ‘comedy’ will be the conflict between generations and religion will not be criticized or barely mentioned except in a positive way. They will twist Islam in knots to say anything positive. It will be a bogus, counterfeit, whitewashed Islam that they portray. Eventually, advertisers will bail out after their initial virtue-signalling.
BookBurner451 says
There’s this implication that the people who don’t like Islam are somehow unaware that Muslims are human beings.
That’s just the problem. The people most concerned know both about Islam and human nature…

Well I’ll be brief because I keep forgetting I’m “of Satan” somehow for not Believing (in Satan, either), but how does this idiot think he is going to launch a “Muslim ‘All in the Family'” without lying early, often, and continually about Islam? He’d be running smack into the sharia at every turn unless this sort of thing is covered under taqiyya which I suspect is the case.
gravenimage says
Reza Aslan will have no problem lying about Islam. And I doubt there will be a Muslim Archie Bunker–more likely a lovely Muslim family will live next door to an “Islamiophobic” Archie Bunker who mumbles about “towel heads” and thinks when they have fireworks that they are trying to bomb the Infidels. Hilarious…
End PC says
Efforts will never end, while the Muslim population is small, to portray real Muslims as ordinary, lovable people embracing a sweet and peaceful religion. But demography is destiny and when their population is large enough, as history has shown, they won’t have to give a d@mn what you dhimmis think.

It’d be easier to square a circle.
mortimer says
Good one … ‘square the circle’ ! Truly!
Reza Aslan wants to normalize the CULTISM of Islam! But Islam is not just ONE cult.
Islam is 22 cults in one:
a death cult, a rape cult, an honor-killing cult, an extortion cult, a plunder cult, a censorship cult, a misogyny cult, a lie cult, a pedophilia cult, a sadomasochistic cult, an obsessive-compulsive cult, a supremacism cult, a Jew hatred cult, a Christianophobia cult, a male chauvinist cult, an inbreeding cult, an obscurantism cult, a superstition cult, a personality cult, a cruelty to animals cult, a group-think cult, a suicide cult.
Go ahead, Aslan, normalize the 22 cults that make up Islam.

A comedy like All in the Family ? Will there be a Dingbat and a Meathead ?
I thought Khomeini said there is no fun is Islam.
mortimer says
Reza Aslan ignores most of Sharia law. He should be forensically audited as well as the people around him. He seems to have links to the mullahocracy of Iran.

One episode could be about the family entering a “Draw Mohammad” contest.
Wouldn’t that be hilarious !
There are several JW posters here who’d be excellent script writers for the show.

Fatima: “Greetings, lord and master! How was your day?”
Abdullah: “Oh, those infidels were persecuting me again! Everywhere I went they were wishing me ‘Merry Christmas’.”
Fatima: “Well, it IS late December, and we ARE in a Christian country.”
Abdullah: “They should respect the feelings of religious minorities!”
Fatima: “But… but, didn’t you say just yesterday the Christians in the old country should convert to Islam if they want to continue to live there?”
Abdullah: “Of course they should – they’re in a Muslim country! They should respect the feelings of the MAJORITY! Now tell me: did you manage to find a lawyer who will get us compensation for the racial harassment we suffered when we visited all the places we found pork being consumed in public places recently?”
Fatima: “Yes, oh husband!”
Abdullah: “And what is his name?”
Fatima: “Um… Saul Bernstein.”

I notice what I think is a piano in the background there. Doesn’t he know that music is HARAM according to his beloved lunatic pseudo religion of islam?!
He’s playing a bit fast and loose with the integrity of his neck there. OR, like so many other things in this world, do some rules apply to all others, but not the specially privileged few?
Jocelyn says
I don’t know how “Muslim” Reza is in his practices. He’s very influenced by Sufism and his wife is a Christian. I knew him a bit a long time ago and he seemed a decent guy but I can’t say I share that opinion now. He even wrote my recommendation letter to seminary.
Trick_or_Treat says
PS: Actually, I’ve never heard the ‘Call to Prayer’ being knocked out a Steinway before. I’m sure even Elton John Paul McCartney would be impressed.
commonsense says
Onions, too, to producer Chuck Lorre, whose willingness to do this show betrays either an abysmal ignorance of the menacing nature of Islam or an appalling indifference to same. He is also, I believe, at least nominally Jewish, hence one of those who are described in the Qur’an as “Chiefest in Enmity to the Believers.” Another useful idiot.

Michael Pillon says
‘Little Mosque on the Prairie’ ran on Canadian TV for about ten years. It never sold anywhere, and everyone still despises Muslims, in precisely the way we ought to despise any deplorable fascist group with an allegiance to the worst excesses of 7th century Arabia.
Hugh Fitzgerald says
But in those ten years the Muslim actors and crew made a lot of money. That’s greatly to be deplored.
mortimer says
Impressed by Michael Pillon’s eloquence. With cogent, articulate comments like this times 100,000 around the world, we can bring the general public to a general rejection of Islam.
Few Leftards still make sweeping comments in favor of Islam. We are gradually winning against this propaganda war from Islam and the uninformed Left.
Wellington says
Muslims have about as much right and truth on their side to “feel a part of the American family” as do Neo-Nazis, Antifa thugs, KKK members, anarchists, Marxists, and so on.
When the hell has the Islamic world ever, I repeat in all caps EVER, advanced the causes that America’s Founding Fathers did? Such rights being, among so many others, real freedom, the right to be in the minority on an issue without fear for your life or being reduced to a second-class citizen, to worship as you please and the capacity to apologize for wrongdoings.
And yes, when has the Islamic world apologized for anything even though it has so much to apologize for, for instance enslaving ten times as many black Africans as did the Western world did AND castrating en masse black male slaves, which the Western world did not { I think Kaepernick is clueless here as he is on so much, but I digress}, and to this day still defending the iniquitous institution of slavery?
And how about the capacity to expand liberty to include others previously excluded (e.g., females) because, you see, only liberty and democratic tenets (the two are tied at the political hip) have it within themselves to become more expansive and more inclusive. Islam has no such capacity. Doubt me? Well then, just look at the 56 majority Muslim nations of the world and tell me where within them true freedom for non-Muslims exist—and yet Muslims in free Western societies demand true freedom for themselves, thus revealing yet another major fault of Islam, i.e., rank hypocrisy.
ALL totalitarian systems and organizations, whether on the Far Right (e.g., Islam and Nazism) or Far Left (e.g., Marxism and the newest bane to mankind, Western Leftism) have virtually no capacity to become more expansive. ALL such systems are static, retrograde, unimaginative, regressive, desultory and destructive of the best of humanity. No exceptions. None. This would include Islam of course—easily so, a no-brainer.
Leslie Fish says
Beg pardon, but ideological Anarchism doesn’t belong in the same category with Muslims, Kluxers, Nazis, Antifa, or the other pious totalitarians.. Anarchism holds that benign social order is quite possible without the coercion of government — as described in the opening paragraph of “Common Sense”, by Tom Paine. That’s a difficult theory to understand and live by; it’s totally anti-authoritarian, and not for the self-indulgent lazy intellects of the Far Left or Far Right. Please be more accurate in the future when describing the nature of the problem.
Wellington says
Wrong. Big time. Anarchism is a recipe for the breakdown of society and resultant chaos and is actually a control-freak ideology, the proof here being that a free society can tolerate anarchists in its midst, confused as these anarchists are, but an anarchical society (btw, when has any ever existed and worked?) cannot tolerate those within an anarchical society who want non-anarchy.
You are not only wrong, you are risibly wrong. Stupidly wrong. Dangerously wrong.
Egregiously wrong.
Wake the hell up.

Reza Aslan is Bringing Us a TV Comedy That Aims to ‘De-Exotify’ Muslims
………………..
I first read this headline quickly and thought for a split second it said the show was going to “De-Toxify” Muslim. That might have been more useful…
I have never thought that Muslims were exotic–at least not much after seeing the dance of “Arabian Coffee” in the Nutcracker Suite on TV as a small child. Now my only real concern is their being murderous.
This from Aslan is more of the ludicrous implication that people only fear Muslims because they know little about Muslims and Islam. But actually, they more you learn the more it becomes obvious what an existential threat Islam presents. This show, of course, will be nothing but Taqiyya.
Agostino Armo Pellegrini says
This from Aslan is more of the ludicrous implication that people only fear Muslims because they know little about Muslims and Islam. But actually, they more you learn the more it becomes obvious what an existential threat Islam presents.
Wonderfully stated. The false premise is that we “islamophobes” simply need to be educated about muslims’ “humanity” and then we’ll get over ourselves, lol. But I already know they eat and poop just like me, it’s the fact they live for a violent, anti-American ideology that’s got me concerned. And I’m pretty sure no sitcom can fix that.
jca reid says
This faker Aslan is a disgrace to Mankind, with his fake Ph.D’s etc & his hypocrisy. He says there is NO FEMALE Circumcision in the Muslim World & he has an “expertise”, (his OWN words), on all matters Islamic. A complete disgrace! What they should show on mainstream American TV is: David Wood’s “Islamicize Me in Thirty Days”. Far more entertaining. Each episode, (about 10minutes duration), are on youtube. I’m surprised they haven’t been taken down as being “inflammatory”, or “not portraying a world Religion in a positive light.”
Mike says
How come Reza sits by a piano . Islam doesn’t promote music : haram !
Mike says
Does Reza gives his handlers all the outcome they expect from him ? Does he worth the money they give him?
Scott Carlson says
I wonder if Obama has a part in this. Muslims know that ignorance of their totalitarian ideology is their greatest power.
So deception of the masses through comedy is another way Hollywood normalizes satanism and other ungodly acts of the minds of our youth that think Christianity is a bad thing. We have a generation of youths that have been raised by the internet and the moderate Muslims have had their unlimited shot at indoctrinating our youth on social media with Islamic propaganda and hate crime hoaxes. Now this generation thinks Muslims are poor innocent victims in our country.
They’re anything but. Most people don’t understand how the caliphate movement works. Moderate Muslims actually do most of the legwork in normalizing bad behavior in our youth through social media. Their form of jihad as they stand by with smirks on their faces and use our indoctrinated youth to be their puppets and pretending to be their friends.
It’s no surprise that Muslims have a form grip on the black community and all it took was to say the their prophet Mohammad was black man. Exploiting the ignorance & prejudice of the black community they have for whites. Sounds familiar. Democrats have been doing this for generations. This exactly what supremacists do. They love to keep people divided because they thrive on power.
As far as our white youth, they would just follow suit because of their blind pride in diversity. Muslims are less than 5% of our population, yet they have so much power over everyone else. Muslims play their part paying the duty tax in their community, scamming by exploiting Americans compassion for charities online, using diversion tactics to hide the truth about their sinister totalitarian ideology no matter how insignificant it may seem. We’re not supposed to notice this. All together for their main goal of dominance.
Non-Muslims Americans make the foolish mistake of applying American culture to Islamic culture and American justice to Islamic just to American justice. The two are very different.
Islam depends on ignorance to survive and they are succeeding. If Americans that were warned would not be stubborn and actually listen they might learn a thing or two about Islam.
I like Trump’s approach with the WWG1WGA Q WORLDWIDE MOVEMENT but I don’t believe that it has much of an effect on the Muslim community as they’re ruthlessly fighting against it and making it look like something sinister to their mind enslaved community of Muslims and non-Muslim puppets.
Because of the ignorance of non-Muslims they foolishly turn to Muslims to verify anything said about Islam and Sharia Law, Muslims will lie or use diversion tactics to keep their blind sheep on their side and to defend them by. Sadly, most non-Muslims don’t have a clue about Islamic deception tactics that are essential to the spread of Islam.
Muslims know to target our largest schools, colleges, social media platforms, mainstream media and use them for their purpose for spreading their false victimhood while casting out non-Muslim truth tellers as bigots, racists and Islamaphobes.
We must defeat this by separation of Sharia Law from the Quran. This will expose Islam for what it really is and discredit Islam as a religion that has been deceiving non-Muslims for over 1,400 years.
Agostino Armo Pellegrini says
Reza’s tv show idea is built on the false notion that all we need with muslims is a few good laughing sessions with some hearty back-slapping–ya know, kind of like an ice-breaker at a party. But in reality what truly divides us is murder and bigotry for religion, not a handful of cultural curiosities like you say “potayto” and I say “potahto.” Problems like terror for religion can’t be made “more American” by an acting troupe with some jokes who pretend the problems don’t exist. As an analogy, I really liked the “Sopranos” tv show, but I don’t feel any less disgusted about the death and crimes gangsters do because of it. I wouldn’t write a letter to a presiding judge and say, “Look, there’s a tv show that made me realize that gangsters are American just like us, the only difference is they rob and kill others, so go easy on them, will ya?”
A muslim sitcom wouldn’t survive a single act of islamic terror, nor will it solve terror, either. Reza has this surreal view that muslims are going to have an epiphany and start giggling themselves into a new state of peaceful awareness over a tv show. It seems to me that Reza is a scam artist for allah. Who in the hell is going to enjoy a tv show about some muslims who bow to the same god that’s causing all that bigoted violence they see on the internet and news? Not me, nor anyone else who cares about violence and murder for religion. Mr. Spencer was right on the money with this one. He knows like most of us that Reza’s whole train of thought is premised on the false notion of muslim victimhood. But muslims aren’t the targeted victims here with islam, we are. And I resent being treated like a person that’s too dumb to know that, stick your tv show up your a$$. Muslims aren’t just like us with a few little differences thrown in, they live for a violent, aggressive ideology that threatens our laws, our culture, and our freedoms. Better they should make a show about that, and thereby preserve America from the threats islam brings.
Agostino Armo Pellegrini says
If muslims want to be “more American,” then they don’t need to laugh at themselves on tv, they need to change themselves in real life. Stop living for and pushing your sharia, stop bowing to a retarded demon that teaches violence, bigotry and hate, for religion. Stop corrupting our politics and schools for islam, stop trying to push your religious bigotry on everyone else. I’m an atheist, I don’t give a poop about your fraudulent prophet or the demon he invented. If you want respect as an “American” stop promoting islamic ideas that threaten America’s freedoms and security. To me CAIR is a hate group that promotes un-American ideas, they will never be American to me, and islamic doctrines are also un-American because its totalitarian agenda is opposed to our constitution and humanitarian ideals. And finally, muslims who live and promote such ideas will never be good Americans, they are working to destroy America whether they realize it or not.
Agostino Armo Pellegrini says
Maybe Reza envisions the same response we gave the Seinfeld Show, where we stand at the water cooler and say, “Morning Mary. Say, last night did you see the one were muhammad joins the mosque and becomes radicalized and then stabs 6 people on a bridge! Oh, man, I laughed my ass off!” And then the next time we hail a cab or go to Walmart we think, oh my gosh, they’re Americans just like me! and then we all live happily ever after. 🙂
Hahahahahahaha!
Michael Copeland says
Will the show feature “the well-known comedy artist and antisemite Recep Tayyip Erdogan”?
(Hugh Fitzgerald’s description)
Agostino Armo Pellegrini says
I laughed out loud when I read that too. Erdogan is a joke, a dangerous tyrannical joke.
Keys says
Ha,ha,ha,ha ! Is Erdogan trying to mimic Charlie Chaplin or Adolph Hitler ?
In any case, he is a clear and present danger. Well, clear to many and present to all.
Or Else! says
“The United States of Al”?
How about, “The United States of (Dar) Al-(Harb)”.
Chuck Lorre shows have the laugh track cranked to 11. The actual truth of Islam will be depicted as outrageously hilarious “stereotypes” made by dopey Islamophobes.
Too bad Lorre already used “The Big Bang Theory” for a show.
p.s. “Little Mosque on the Prairie” ran on Canada’s state-funded CBC for 6 seasons, 2007-2012. Keep in mind, the Canadian sit-com field is very limited. It’s premiere in 2007 had 2.1 million viewers. Ratings fell to half of that soon thereafter. In its 3rd season, ratings were 25% of its original numbers…then 20% in season 4. Yet, it was renewed for another 2 seasons.
Or Else! says
We’ll know Islam has turned the corner when we see Broadway send-ups like “The Book of Allah” being accepted peacefully–a la the LDS with “The Book of Mormon”. I think we’ll be waiting a while yet…..
Mary says
How can they make a comedy about beheading, honour killings, wife beatings, grooming gangs etc.?
Keys says
They will use “canned” laughter.
Valkyrie Ziege says
; It’s been tried, e.g., “Little Mosque on the Prairie”. There isn’t any redemption for a religion that rapes children while quoting the “al-Qurʼān”, glorifies suicide-bombing, arson, stabbings, and ploughing motor vehicles into Christmas shoppers, as the way into paradise. Reza Aslan is mentally-ill, and uses religion to hide it.
