There are so few instances of actual “Islamophobia” that the victimhood narrative and hysteria surrounding Muslims in the West has to be constantly shored up with fake hate crimes.
“’Student Assaulted for Being Muslim,’” by Lloyd Billingsley, FrontPage, December 9, 2019:
“Elk Grove student assaulted for being Muslim,” read the headline in the Sacramento Bee on Saturday. “Community rallies as police seek suspect.”
According to Bee reporter Sawsan Morrar, the attack happened four days earlier at Pleasant Grove High School “while Sabah Elias, 17, was attending a tutoring session after classes. Elias, who was wearing a black shirt representing the Muslim Student Association (MSA) club on campus, said she was followed into a bathroom by a person wearing a mask. That person, she said, verbally attacked her for being Muslim before throwing a bucket of water at her.”
A tearful, humiliated Elias drove home but her parents told her to report the incident. School officials contacted police in Elk Grove, a city of some 170,000 south of the state capitol of Sacramento. As Morrar explained, “the suspect in the assault was not found; it’s not known if the attacker was a student,” but the victim had some thoughts.
“We came to realize that this person, whoever they are, acted this way because of ignorance,” said Elias at a Friday gathering. “The closure we were looking for was not just holding this person accountable for their actions. Instead, the greater closure we were looking for is how we can all be a part of the solution to the grander problem our community is facing, racial and social intolerance.”
According to Morrar, “the campus’ Muslim Student Association, which was formed recently but before the assault took place, said learning from the incident would bring the community closer.” Elk Grove High School student Naema Ali told Morrar “What happened to Sabah happens to a lot of brown students. Sabah took what happened and turned it into something amazing.” Pleasant Grove 2017 graduate Jude Farhat showed up to explain she was “repeatedly harassed by students for wearing hijab.”
Morrar then cited an October report from CAIR claiming that 40 percent of California Muslim students say they have been bullied, explaining “nearly half of the Muslim 12th-graders, like Elias, reported being bullied — the largest group age group to report bullying.”
The CBS report on the Elias case came headlined “Student Says She Was Assaulted At School,” (emphasis added) and Morrar’s report cited not a single witness. The alleged victim did not quote anything the mysterious black-shirted “person” said. Likewise, the bucket used in the assault was missing, and so were details about the author.
“I attended K-12 in the Elk Grove Unified School District,” at Laguna Creek High School, Morrar explains and “UC Davis for my undergraduate studies.” There Morrar was “president of the 200-member Muslim Student Association.”
The MSA is the first Muslim Brotherhood affiliate to gain a foothold in the United States and a lobbying group for the Wahhabi sect of Islam and now maintains chapters on hundreds of campuses. The Diversity Working Group, which revealed Morrar’s MSA chapter presidency, includes her in a piece about Muslim women taking leading roles in “civil rights” groups such as CAIR.
As UC Davis notes, Sawsan Morrar made “giant strides,” such as “admission to UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism; a 2017 White House Correspondents Association Scholar; a grant and fellowship from the Pulitzer Center for Crisis Reporting.”
A UC Berkeley site notes that the multimedia journalist “was an associate producer at Capital Public Radio, Sacramento’s NPR affiliate news station.” In 2017 she became a Stevens Scholar, and as her own website explains, “Sawsan is a White House Correspondents’ Association Scholar, Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting grantee, and an Ambassador Christopher Stevens Scholar.”
According to the Islamic Scholarship Fund, whose advisors include Reza Aslan and Imam Tahir Anwar, Sawsan Morrar is a recipient of the “Ghulium and Arifa Azad Family Scholarship in Journalism.” As ISF explains, “Sawsan is a dedicated activist in the Muslim community” and has “co-hosted workshops aimed at addressing Islam in the media and facilitates networking between Muslim leaders and journalists.” Her piece on the Elk Grove incident reflects that Muslim activist profile.
Throwing anything at someone is technically an assault and Morrar assumes up-front that it happened. She poses no questions to the victim, a member of the Muslim Students Association who says the mysterious attacker was “ignorant.” Predictably, Morrar goes on to cite studies by CAIR naming Muslim 12th graders as the biggest victim group….

Was a California high school student really assaulted for being Muslim?
………………
Given both the details and the prevalence of faked hate crimes against Muslims, I’d say this is highly unlikely.
James Lincoln says
Non-Muslims attending Elk Grove High School should consider wearing body cameras…

James, Elk Grove is a suburb of Sacramento, California’s capitol. It isn’t the most leftist place in the state, but it is pretty liberal. I’m sure students there would consider such a suggestion “Islamophobic”. That’s also why I doubt anything happened there in the first place.

Likely true, gravenimage…

Not that I mean that Conservatives would do anything like this either, I hasten to add. I just meant that liberals would not do anything that might be considered “Islamophobic”–least of all assaulting someone.
Keys says
Time for all the schools to install security cameras.
“ [A] person wearing a mask” following her into the bathroom should appear clearly on the recording along with the time it happened.
Some of her explanatory wording and connection to CAIR set off my BS detectors. Disappeared bucket ? What color ? How long after did she report this ? Did anyone check to see if there was water on the floor ? You didn’t tell anyone someone at the school that a masked person attacked you ? You just whistled your way home ?

Likely DID NOT happen, Keys!

The Sacbee comments are good. People are wising up in part due to the tireless work of Robert Spencer and his leadership in our ongoing education. It is encouraging.

Yes it is encouraging, rubiconcrest!

CAIR’s bullying report is nothing but an on-line poll. You, or I, or anyone could take, several times if you wanted.

More prevarications from the Muslims, who must feel victimized – even when they’re not.
Fake, fake, fake.
Period.

The mysterious water-thrower wore a black shirt as well. Did either shirt contain a single white dot as well? The complainant chose to use the word racism? Can you interview her and get her to specify what color the muslim race has? Is it Japanese light brown or closer to pigskin brown? Or, dare I say it, s**t brown? Lots of unanswered questions here.
Sharon says
another bullshit cair/mb/muslim tactic; always the poor victim; if it comes from a muslim’s mouth you know it is a lie as that is their modus operandi always and it is not going to change. protect yourselves from these cretins.

Need cameras, Sharon!

Jack Cade says
None these “attackers” throw acid, but that’s a Muslim barrow trick, isn’t it? Never any injury or real vandalism. Total fake.
Michael Geoffroy says
Any of this so-called information provided by CAIR should be taken with caution ! This is a terrorist organization as is Muslim Brotherhood.

SO WHAT! poor student at least she didn’t get massacred, get over it shit happens to everyone not just muslims.

What sort of person wanders around the corridors of a school wearing a mask and carrying a bucket of water on the off-chance of meeting a Muslim? I suppose it’s possible, but it sounds highly unlikely.

Yep.
