“A seven-year campaign led by French troops, the deployment of hundreds of US special forces, massive aid for local militaries and a billion dollar-a-year United Nations peacekeeping operation have been unable to decisively weaken the multiple overlapping insurgencies in the region and security has continued to deteriorate.”
Why has none of this worked? Because the jihadis have broad popular appeal that no Western analyst wants to admit, and so they keep addressing the problem in ways that are bound to fail, because they don’t dare to assess its scope accurately.
“Dozens believed dead after attack by Islamic militants in Burkina Faso,” by Jason Burke, Guardian, January 28, 2020:
Dozens of people are feared dead following an attack by Islamic militants on a village in Burkina Faso, the latest bloody incident in an unprecedented surge of violence across the restive Sahel region.
Details of the attack, which occurred on Saturday and targeted the village of Silgadji in the northern Soum province, were still unclear on Tuesday but a security official said casualties in the assault totalled between “10 and 30 dead”.
In many such instances, initial death tolls are revised upwards when investigators reach the often remote areas where the raids take place.
Islamic extremists were still in the vicinity of the village on Monday, a resident in nearby Bourzanga town said, citing accounts from those who had fled.
“The terrorists surrounded the people at the village market, before separating them into two groups. The men were executed and the women were ordered to leave the village,” the source said. “Security teams are trying to get to the site but access to the village has probably been booby-trapped with homemade mines, and they are having to proceed carefully.”
Though once considered resistant to the phenomenon of Islamic extremism, Burkina Faso has suffered a rapid rise in Islamist extremism in recent years, a spillover of violence in neighbouring Mali.
The number of deaths from Islamist-linked attacks in Burkina Faso rose from about 80 in 2016 to more than 1,800 in 2019….
Extremist violence in the Sahel intensified after a coalition of Islamists and local separatist tribesmen took control over much of northern Mali in 2012.
A seven-year campaign led by French troops, the deployment of hundreds of US special forces, massive aid for local militaries and a billion dollar-a-year United Nations peacekeeping operation have been unable to decisively weaken the multiple overlapping insurgencies in the region and security has continued to deteriorate….

When will it occur to somebody to incapacitate these barbarians?

The Muslims just separated the men from the women and then killed all the men and set the women free? Now, you see, if I were a Muslim I’d be upset about this because there is no mention of anyone being offered the opportunity to convert to Islam. Neither is there any indication that those who were People of the Book were allowed to live if they agreed to pay the Jizya. Honestly, I would see this as a slur against Islam. It really misrepresents the religion. If all the men who were killed were pagans or atheists who refused to covert to Islam it should be reported so people won’t think these Islamic extremists didn’t follow the rules of Islam. Has no leader from the Islamic world complained about this … not even the new caliph of ISIS? (I know this is a sick joke but that is what Islam is – the world’s sickest joke.)

I suspect a Muslim would be more likely to be angered because the soldiers of al Lah didnt enslave the women as not only their scriptures but a lot of present-day imams direct.
CogitoErgoSum says
Well, Muslims do also have the option of setting captives free instead of making slaves of them. Maybe they could not afford to feed the women. However, if they could have worked out some sort of Jizya agreement with those who were “Peoples of the Book” they might have been able to afforded some of the women as slaves.

“THE SUBTLETY OF DECEIT”
It was not only Muhammad who said that “war was deceit.” The left who are in and out of government deceive vast swaths of the public every day and we are left to wretch from the nausea this brings. But what is just as sickening is the dishonest and deceiving journalism that floats like algae in the “sea of media.” The above quotation from the Guardian article by Jason Burke, who I am told has covered “Africa” from Johannesburg for over 20 years, rings a bell. From his flush first floor air-conditioned office, he has the temerity to lead his readers to believe; he has his finger on the trigger to unload the keenest news as it hits the road. The massacre of more Christians by even more Islamic terrorist’s, was a dishonest at best and deceitful report at worst. Mr. Burke has spent two decades as a journalist and he still can’t spill the beans honestly! The carnage in Burkina Faso was not carried out by “militants” or “extremists” or “tribesmen.” This may surprise Burke and others – it was Islamic “terrorist’s” who butchered the defenceless women and children. There will come a time when we will not be allowed to say such things, so we suggest that you step hard on all the Politically Correct toes that you can.
Rev Didymus.

Africa seems particularly appalling and seems to be where we see Islam in all its evil, most murderous foulness over and over again, from the reports here at Jihad Watch. Nigeria, Cameroon, Kenya and now Burkina Faso, and so on. Day after day, these murders by Muslims in Africa never end. Islam is such a murderous, evil blight on the human race. Islam surely just provides its followers with a licence to do extremely evil, inhumane acts. It provides the perfect home for evil, merciless people.
OLD GUY says
You are absolutely right! Islam justifies EVIL.
tim gallagher says
Thanks, OLD GUY, from another quite old guy. I often think that, if you have a great desire to carry out all sorts of evil acts, but you also want to have a version of god that condones all the evil you’d like to do, then Islam is the perfect religion to join. Islam condones so much evil in so many areas of human life when you compare it with the standards of civilised people.

Burkina Faso: Muslims murder dozens in jihad attack on village
……………..
More hideous Jihad in Africa.

They “attacked” a “village”. How is that different than “slaughtered” a village?
Christopher Watson says
Another reason we are not winning is because we are too kind and hampered by our Christian values. We will win when we persuade our opponents that they will never win and we will kill, not only them but their wives, children, parents and anyone connected to them. The Americans persuaded the Japanese in WW2 that fighting was counter-productive by dropping two nuclear bombs on Nagasaki and Hiroshima. The invading German troops were vicious when invading Russia but were not prepared for the cruelty of the counter invasion later in the war. No-one wishes to be cruel; we all want to be kind human beings but when faced by Burkino Faso and their ilk rules must change.
Dorothy Davies says
Yes I am afraid you are right. They are maddened, like dogs with rabies. Unfortunately the animal has to be put down. Humanism will destroy us all.

We don’t have to adopt Muslim values to defend against Jihad. Burkina Faso is 60% Muslim; the government there is doing next to nothing to protect non-Muslims there.

Murder is a Muhammadan masterpiece as these corrupt coercive collectivists contribute to the downfall of civilization an its means of production.
