Which side are they on? The answer to that is clear.
“Warren, Sanders Hosting Call With Pro-Tehran Lobby Group,” by Adam Kredo and David Rutz, Washington Free Beacon, January 8, 2020:
Democratic presidential contenders Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.) and Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) are slated to host a conference call with an Iranian-American advocacy group that has been accused of lobbying on Tehran’s behalf.
Along with Reps. Ro Khanna (D., Calif.) and Barbara Lee (D., Calif.), Sanders and Warren are scheduled to speak Wednesday evening with members of the National Iranian American Council (NIAC). The group played a central role in what former Obama national security adviser Ben Rhodes called the administration’s pro-Iran Deal “echo chamber,” spinning journalists, lawmakers, and citizens.
The Democratic candidates’ willingness to engage with NIAC—a group that aggressively pushed the accord and has strongly advocated against U.S. sanctions on the Islamic Republic—reflects their desire to see America reenter the nuclear deal, which released up to $150 billion in cash to the regime. Much of that money has gone to fund Iran’s regional terror operations, including recent attacks on American personnel stationed in the region.
NIAC has deep ties to Iran’s regime, including senior officials like Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif. Zarif worked closely with NIAC founder Trita Parsi, who, in turn, consulted with the Obama administration.
Parsi lobbied Congress against sanctions on Iran in 2013 and met with Obama administration officials at the White House dozens of times leading up to the nuclear deal’s signing in 2015. Multiple U.S. officials and senior congressional sources informed the Washington Free Beacon that Parsi helped the White House craft its messaging as it tried to sell the nuclear deal to the public. The NIAC chief met with Rhodes, among other top officials, during multiple visits throughout the Obama era.
Rhodes delivered a keynote speech at the 2016 NIAC leadership conference.
NIAC was ordered to pay more than $180,000 in 2013 to the legal defense fund of Hassan Daioleslam, an Iranian-American writer, after a failed defamation lawsuit. Daioleslam had accused NIAC of failing to disclose its clandestine lobbying efforts to undo sanctions on Tehran, the Free Beacon previously reported. The U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia said Parsi’s work was “not inconsistent with the idea that he was first and foremost an advocate for the regime.”…

*Good God*. And remember, along with Joe Biden, these are the Democratic front runners.

They are so blinded by their Marxist religion of cultural/class warfare that they cannot believe it when people follow another religion. The believe these people are just confused and as soon as we restore the Kingdom of Marx on Earth, peace will descend upon all mankind.

Grimly true, Marya.
Wellington says
The face of the modern Democratic Party, gravenimage.
You know, it’s gotten to the point where I anymore just look upon the Democratic Party of the USA as a traitor to America, much as the Labour Party of the UK has become, effectively, a traitor to the UK.
What makes this ominous is that neither the Democratic Party nor the Labour Party are some third-rate or splinter party. They each are one of the two major parties in their respective country. This is ominous.
Westman says
I hear you. I was once a Democrat and the party went so far left that I couldn’t find them anymore. We fought and voted for equal opportunity for women and minorities which has now been converted into equality of outcome, regardless of personal effort and priorities.
Sanders and Warren are selling the same snake oil from their “medicine wagon” that has degraded life on the planet whenever it was tried. When productivity falls, and the dole money gets thin, more laws and oppression follow. Every socialist/communist thinks, “We can get it right, this time”, which is a good definition of insanity.
The college kids are being sold a new lifetime debt load of socialism which they are led to believe will lessen or remove their current debt to the banksters; all sold to them by a Millionare and an Affirmative Action fraud.
gravenimage says
All true, Wellington and Westman.
That Biden is not just the sanest front-running Democrat but *by far* the sanest shows just how much trouble they (and perhaps we) are in.
I had thought that Sander’s prominence in 2016 was some sort of strange one-off fluke–but now he’s back stronger than before and considered pretty much mainstream.
James Lincoln says
A spot on analysis Wellington, Westman, and gravenimage.
If a country gets the wrong leaders, very bad things can happen – very fast.
Look at Venezuela…
gravenimage says
Yes, James. There has long been a lot of craziness in the Democratic Party, but when those like Feinstein and even Pelosi are being targeted for not being leftist *enough* you know that things are bad.

BS and EW perhaps the two worst people in USA (if you leave out really bad criminals) Just imagine BS as POtUs and EW as Vice. NO PASARAN They shall not pass
Infidel says
The Democrat Party looks increasingly like the Islamic Party of America. Here are some major policy highlights of theirs:
– Pro immigration of Muslims from Muslim countries
– Pro-Palestinian, if not full blown anti-Israel
– Pro-Iran, particularly wrt the Iran deal
– Anti ‘hate-speech’ in the name of combating ‘islamophobia’
– Anti-Christian in terms of religious Liberty, forcing gay marriage and gay ‘rights’ (like forcing Christian bakers to decorate cakes celebrating gay weddings)
– Opposed to military spending, but support extending troop missions, like Obama’s bombing of Libya
– Support giving aid to Muslim countries, particularly the Palis
– Anti-Indian, particularly on Kashmir and the citizenship policies of the Indian government (while the former might have some international relevance being a disputed territory, the latter is purely an internal affair of India’s alone)
gravenimage says
Grimly true, Infidel.
peter says
Kashmir is not a disputed territory ,if it is pak occupied kashmir is more so . It is purely internal matter. Kashmir could be disputed territory as much as California could be!

Until President Trump, the world, as I have witnessed it has been in a constant state of stagnation. Lots going on but nothing of any significance being addressed and or resolved. The same old same old that has been going on for so long. Myself, I am sick of it. I cant believe that so-called progressives want us all to just go ahead and hit the reset button and return to those times. These two, and all the rest, represent that. I cant believe that any sane person would vote for any of those people.
Demsci says
Sanders and Warren scold president Trump a lot about his policy towards Iran. It seems all Democratic presidential candidates and house reps do. And the squad is even worse than average. And even Tulsi Gabbard agrees. But their alternatives all depend on that flawed JCPOA. And on an IAEA that “sussed” the world that Iran was complying with the JCPOA but the IAEA did not have complete oversight for control, which made it pretty useless. So to me their criticism is based on a worthless alternative, so is worthless itself.
Interesting development though is that Iran (it’s expediency council or so I believe, not its government or parliament)
refuses to sign (all) the international agreements of the FATF (Financial Action Task Force), against whitewashing money and financing terrorism (and Hezbollah is designated a terrorist organisation).
And the FATF has for years threathened to sanction, blacklist Iran for that. And their latest deadline, for putting their rules into law AND compliance, is FEBRUARI.
If the FATF shows backbone, this puts huge pressure on the EU to follow up on those sanctions. I hope this finally pans out.
Demsci says
Also, it could well be that most Democrats really do not care whether Iran gets a nuclear bomb or not. If that is the case I think they should admit and own that opinion.
OLD GUY says
Makes you wonder who’s side that are on?
gravenimage says
My next door neighbors–personally nice people but completely clueless–just put up a Sanders sign in their yard.
Infidel says
When Bernie Sanders does not talk race or foreign policy, he does sound pretty reasonable. Like the rants against income inequality may sound communist, but when one considers how Wall Street has made a hobby out of raiding public companies, offshoring all their labor, raiding their pension funds and leaving those people high and dry, thereby maximizing stock value for their shareholders to the abandonment of everything else, one can see where his appeal comes from. One can argue whether the solutions – taxing everybody – would work, but what’s driving his popularity ain’t pure jealousy of the successful, but rather, resentment at the Paul Singers and Mitt Romneys and Charles Kochs of the world.
If there was someone in the GOP who had anti Wall Street and anti K Street positions, but w/o the pandering to islam, going full woke on modern gender dystopia, race baiting, increased immigration, kneeling during the anthem and all the other wicked things that the Left does, I’d be pretty inclined to support that.
