Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

DHS approves $100,000 grant of taxpayers’ money to Hamas-linked CAIR

Jan 18, 2020 1:00 pm By Robert Spencer

This is the way the world is today: speaking honestly about the ideological roots of jihad terror will get you defamed and vilified, classified as a “hate group leader,” defamed, shunned, canceled everywhere. But have multiple links to a jihad terror group and you’re in, you’ll be the go-to group for the establishment media and get taxpayer money to further your goals. CAIR is an unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas terror funding case — so named by the Justice Department. CAIR officials have repeatedly refused to denounce Hamas and Hizballah as terrorist groups. Several former CAIR officials have been convicted of various crimes related to jihad terror. CAIR’s cofounder and longtime Board chairman (Omar Ahmad), as well as its chief spokesman (Ibrahim Hooper), have made Islamic supremacist statements about how Islamic law should be imposed in the U.S. (Ahmad denies this, but the original reporter stands by her story.) CAIR chapters frequently distribute pamphlets telling Muslims not to cooperate with law enforcement. CAIR has opposed virtually every anti-terror measure that has been proposed or implemented and has been declared a terror organization by the United Arab Emirates. CAIR’s Hussam Ayloush in 2017 called for the overthrow of the U.S. government. CAIR’s national outreach manager is an open supporter of Hamas.

“WESTROP: DHS Approves $100K Grant Of Taxpayers’ Money To CAIR,” by Sam Westrop, DailyWire.com, January 17, 2020:

In October, the Trump administration handed out $100,000 of taxpayer dollars to the terror-tied Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the Middle East Forum has found.

In 2009, the FBI blacklisted CAIR after federal prosecutors named the Islamist group as an unindicted co-conspirator during the 2008 Holy Land Foundation terrorism financing trial. In 2014, the United Arab Emirates designated CAIR as a terrorist organization. And today, its officials continue to promote and excuse violently anti-American and anti-Semitic rhetoric.

To fund CAIR, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) first awarded monies to the Washington, D.C. government, which then selected CAIR and a number of other extremist organizations as suitable sub-recipients. The federal government would likely have been aware, however, that CAIR was a grantee — according to government documentation, it seems sub-grantees must be approved by DHS before funds are distributed.

The administration’s funding of CAIR was the product of the DHS’s Nonprofit Security Grant Program. As my colleague David Swindle recently wrote in The Daily Wire, Congress’ current proposed expansion of the program’s budget, however “well-meaning,” carries enormous “potential for abuse” and will end up providing “millions of taxpayer dollars” to “pro-jihadist Islamist groups.”

This program and others seem to be doing just that. Additional new federal grants of taxpayers’ money handed out to Islamist organizations include over $57,000 to the Muslim American Society (MAS), a national Islamist organization whose Philadelphia branch hosted an event last year at which young children from an MAS-run school recited poetry about the killing of Jews; and $100,000 to Dar al-Hijrah, a hardline Virginia mosque once home to former al-Qaeda leader Anwar al-Awlaki, and long considered a key terror hub by law enforcement agencies.

The Middle East Forum has written before about the enormous amount of taxpayers’ money being handed out to dangerous Islamist organizations. In 2019, we discovered that over $41 million of federal grants has been given to radical groups since 2007. This total does not include the dozens of more recent awards made in the last few months.

Surprisingly, under the Trump administration, grants to extremist organizations have actually increased. As we noted last year, “between 2017 and 2018, the amount of taxpayers’ money given to organizations either influenced or controlled by Islamist activists more than tripled from $4 million to $13.5 million. Under the Obama administration, the amount given to Islamist-linked organizations averaged a mere $1.7 million each year.”

In August 2019, the U.S. Census Bureau quickly cancelled a proposed partnership with CAIR after a number of conservative media outlets started investigating the decision. But why this was not enough to stop the federal government from subsequently funding the very group it had previously conceded was beyond the pale?…

This should be called for what it is – payment of the Jizya. It should be formalized by means of a treaty requiring certain protections promised by the Muslims in return. We should at least get something for our money … and everyone would come to understand how Islam works.

The best spin one could put on this is keep your enemies close but you’re right in reality it’s a Jizya installment payment. It’s made out of a sense of committed blissful ignorance, as if the First Amendment protects sedition. Strange how Congress is silent. But nobody wants to have their family blown up at home or be stabbed in the parking ramp, even Congressmen, *especially* Congressmen.

I live in WA state where most of the counties are red, but unfortunately for us, Seattle (King County) and several surrounding counties have enough votes to control the state. As an example, liberals keep challenging our 2nd Amendment rights with draconian unconstitutional initiatives, while 20 counties have refused enforcement. Everything you face, we see here as well.

I lived in San Diego, California from birth 1945 went through my Navy carrier in SD, started a business in SD for many years, the corruption of Government and infiltration of hostile people as well as New York transplants finally forced me to move about 20 years. SD used to be a quite CLEAN town, when I left newspapers were blowing down the streets of downtown. Sad, it was such a nice place to live.

All anti-jihadists…all anti-islamites…should line up, fill out a grant request and get started bringing in the funds to fight the terrorists at their own money game.

$1 million here, 200 thousand there….soon, there would be more money with the guys in white hats than those wearing the black bags of terror, the grim reaper attire….

Pipe dreaming. It’s just so difficult and hide-chapping to read of these groups of slimy moslims getting rich while they demand their own way, their “more-than-equal-rights” above every other hard-working citizen. Esp when so many are having so much trouble making the ends just look at each other across the debt chasm.

The Psalm says, “Do not trust in nobles or the son of earthling man, to whom no salvation belongs.” So, we shouldn’t trust any human agency to make things turn out right. It just isn’t going to happen.

What has gone on in the wake of 9-11 is an islamist dream come true. I don’t think bin laden had any idea how successful in the wrecking of America his plan would be. For many Americans their government and its departments have become truly disturbing things to behold. Fighting them over there at an enormous cost in blood and treasure while funding them over here. Who thought this up, al qaeda?

At what point do Americans decide enough is enough and stop cooperating with law enforcement as well?

Patriotic Americans should speak out. The idea that there is nothing between silence and violence is mistaken.

      • tgusa says

        Jan 18, 2020 at 9:58 pm

        “Patriotic Americans should speak out.”

We have seen what they will do to Patriotic Americans such as General Flynn and President Trump. If they will do that to them what chance do we lowly American Patriots stand? Lets keep an eye on tomorrows pro 2nd Amendment protest in Virginia. I am assuming that the rally will be attended by Patriotic Americans speaking out.

Virginia Governor Blackface seems to be quite disturbed over Patriotic Americans preparing to speak out. Have you read what Virginia State Senator Amanda Chase posted on her facebook page?

Honestly, I believe that we have reached a point of irreconcilable differences. Speaking out will likely fall on deaf ears or worse, you could be smeared with being a horrible this or that, the enemy. I would much prefer an amicable divorce rather than violence. I don’t think there is any simple way out of this at all.

        • Terry says

          Jan 19, 2020 at 8:12 pm

There’s hope, but I don’t think an amicable divorce is possible. In my state (WA), a plan was proposed that we carve out E. WA, N. Idaho, and W. Montana in order to form a new state where we have the same political beliefs. A republican politician with strong resistance to unconstitutional policies enacted by our AG is being smeared like Kavanaugh with the goal of removal from our state legislature. People are already migrating across state lines and into specific counties prepping for the fallout if Trump is not reelected. Won’t be amicable if the socialists get control of our country.

“People are already migrating across state lines and into specific counties prepping for the fallout if Trump is not reelected.”

Yes Terry and I am one of them. I have lived in a small Southern Ca county since my Dad left the Army so long ago. We have always been surrounded and out numbered by larger leftist counties. Those larger leftist counties (and mine too) are getting even more populated through an influx of not so American people bringing their not so American ideals with them.

Migration can lead to good. My ancestor preferred an amicable divorce from the British before the Revolutionary War broke out. He was a soldier from Massachusetts but he ended up migrating to the Carolina’s to fight the British. And here I am facing a similar predicament, history doesn’t repeat but it rhymes. Whatever may come it is good to know I have allies in many places.

I am a big fan of Revolutionary War hero John Paul Jones.

“The Department of Homeland Security are the people who are supposed to be protecting us from those like CAIR.”

Evidently that is not part of their mission.

As a result of government policy they are in a catch 22 situation, a dilemma or difficult circumstance from which there is no escape because of mutually conflicting or dependent conditions.

      • gravenimage says

        Jan 19, 2020 at 12:22 am

tgusa, I imagine most of these foolish dhimmis have swallowed the claim that CAIR is a “civil rights group”. But that they likely have not even investigated them before forking over gobs of taxpayer money to them is suicidal insanity.

        Here’s some typical stupidity:

“The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization, today submitted a written statement for the record for the U.S. House Committee on Homeland Security hearing on ‘World Wide Threats: Keeping America Secure in the New Age of Terror.'”

That DHS didn’t consider these the actions of a fifth column is the heart of the problem.

There are most likely a multitude of moslim snakes in the DHS. After all, ‘o’ filled the government with them and he hasn’t been out of office so very long that the ones he brought in wouldn’t still be there. The DHS is an umbrella agency with a lot of decisions being made for other parts of the government.
This is probably why cair has not been labeled as a terror org even tho it was a “co-conspirator” in the “holy-land foundation” trial in 2008…although it was not indicted for being a “co-conspirator.” The **reason** it was not and was not put on trial too is because ‘o’ put a stop to charges and a trial going forward.
