In an article from the Religion News Service, brought to you from increasingly Islamized Dearborn, Jeff Karoub and Noreen Nasir assert that the “US growth of Islam creates” the “need for religious scholars.” No, it doesn’t. What it does create is more need to protect free societies from Islamization, not any need for unregulated religious scholars, especially those trained in countries that implement Sharia.
The article features imam Sayed Mohammad Baqer Al-Qazwini of Dearborn, Michigan. All meat in Dearborn public schools is halal. An Arab-American National Museum held a town hall on Japanese internment and the Trump travel ban — implying that Trump’s temporary ban on countries of concern (which were chosen by Obama) was an atrocity. Even Politico raised concerns about Dearborn since 2016:
Dearborn, Michigan may be the closest thing America has to a Mollenbeek, the seething, Islamicized neighborhood of Brussels believed to have harbored the terrorists involved in both the metro and airport attacks this week and last fall’s slaughter in Paris.
Al-Qazwini’s father Hassan Qazwini, is supposedly descended of Muhammad, and Hassan Qazwini’s father, Sayed Mortadha Al Qazwini, was an Iraqi Ayatollah. Hassan Qazwini states:
“In many other states there are mosques with no … functional imam, who can assume the responsibilities of the religious leader or even speak,” said Islamic Institute of America leader Imam Hassan Qazwini, who started the seminary with his son. “I thought maybe a long-term solution for facing this shortage is to have our own Shiite Islamic seminary in the U.S., instead of waiting for imams to come.”
In 2012, Robert Spencer warned about Hassan al-Qazwini calling on America to enforce Sharia blasphemy laws. Qazwini was again featured on Jihad Watch in September 2019 for his support of the Houthi attacks on Saudi oil fields, while absolving Iran of any responsibly. Instead, he blamed Trump, as Spencer writes:
Islamic supremacists, and increasingly their Leftist allies as well, never, ever take responsibility for what they have done. It is always someone else’s fault, the fault of someone they hate. Qazwini here blames Trump and Israel, predictably enough, for the attacks on the Saudi oil fields.
“US growth of Islam creates need for religious scholars,” by Jeff Karoub and Noreen Nasir, Religion News Service, November 4, 2019:
DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. (AP) — “Brothers and sisters,” the seminary instructor tells his class, don’t believe in God because of your parents’ beliefs but because “you know why God exists.”
The challenge spurs a discussion about beliefs. But more than Imam Mohammad Qazwini’s interesting delivery, deep understanding of Islam and his formal training at a seminary in the holy city of Qom, Iran, have drawn them to this suburban Detroit classroom just off the large prayer room of a mosque.
He speaks their language — literally.
An increasing number of U.S. Muslims want guidance from religious instructors who they can understand linguistically and culturally. The Quran, Islam’s holy book, is written in classical Arabic, but many of the students aren’t well-versed in the language. Qazwini navigates the intricacies of Arabic effortlessly — in the everyday English they use, opening a door for many of the students and meeting an increasing need.
Traditional imams and scholars who once came from the Middle East or were educated in schools there are having more difficulty entering the United States. The Trump administration imposed a travel ban in January 2017 on people from several Muslim majority countries, and the government has made it harder to enter the U.S. entirely, with more rigorous interviews and background checks.
Al-Hujjah is the newest of several seminaries focused on the Shiite branch of Islam in the United States and Canada working to address a shortage of leaders.
The seminary started in fall 2017 with about 35 registered students. Now it has nearly 400, with some attending in-person, others watching live and still more watching recorded videos online. In addition to the Qazwinis, there are four other instructors.
Although there are students in 25 countries the emphasis is on North America because of the desire to deepen the bench of U.S.-trained imams, scholars and speakers, according to the elder Qazwini, a native of Iraq.
In a class on a recent evening, the younger Qazwini led an intense session on faith, proposing case studies, playing devil’s advocate and prompting a philosophical back-and-forth with his students. His execution is informal but authoritative. The students understand him.
“I need to make sure he speaks the language, he’s knowledgeable, he’s respectful, he’s truly caring and he’s trying to adapt to the country we live in,” said Alia Bazzi, 32, a graphic designer and seminary student. “Why would my imam speak Arabic if we live in America and the main language we speak is English? … I want to know he’s up to date, he knows what’s going on.”….

Anyone who wants to study Islam and hopes for a Readers Digest version of it is dreaming. It takes about two years of study for most people to realize that Islam is amoral and opportunistic … that turns off most people. Then it takes another 4 to 8 years to learn the errors in the Koran and hadiths. It takes another 4 or 5 years to learn enough to diagnose the appeal of Islam’s delusions and how to debunk them.
Teaching Islam is truly a mug’s game, because sooner or later, the student realizes that Islam cannot be defended.

Dear Mortimer, while my understanding of Islam has certainly much deepened over the past nineteen year, just reading the Qur’an taught me much about the savagery of Islam.
The idea that one has to study for 15 years to learn that there is anything wrong with Islam not only seems unnecessary, but would insure that almost no one in the West would *ever* grasp that there is any danger from Islam at all.
As for “Muslim scholars”, of course, they would not be brought in to teach that there is a problem with Islam–just the opposite, I’m afraid. And most people who study Islam in this are committed Muslims–they are not apt to leave Islam by immersing themselves in it. They are more likely, in fact, to take Islam more and more seriously. How many Jihadists have we heard of who became more religious before plotting Jihad?

The koran is a Reader’s Digest version of a bible. Like me, if you care to, you can read it all in a weekend, albeit not consecutively because visits to the porcelain are necessary once you understand the contents. It has but one author so it is extremely self-serving whereas the Christian bible has umpteen authors. According to sources on the internet the bible contains 783,137 words whereas the koran contains 77,934, although that number seems high.
It takes about two minutes to determine that the intended audience of the koran is a misogynous male who is a loser when it comes to relating favourably to women and who must declare other human beings as enemies to be killed in order to develop any kind of positive feelings about himself. mortimer gives the koran credit where no credit is due.

Islam should be treated in the U.S. the same way other religions are treated in Saudi Arabia. Our ultimate goal should be to make people see it as a thing to be despised. The only difference would be that we can achieve our goal by telling people the truth.

Not just that, Shariah laws should be taken, flipped and then applied to Muslims. In other words, Muslims should have to pay jiziya, the testimony of 2 Muslims would equal that of 1 infidel and so on. And heck, we need not use Saudi Arabia, which the Left already despises: we can pick a Muslim entity that they love, such as the Palestinians, and use their laws to flip around. Lets see Ilhan and Rashida attack us on that one!

We don’t have to embrace the savagery of Islam in order to defend against it. Just the opposite, in fact.

It would be fascinating to learn how many mullahs drop out of Islam after gaining residency in the United States. The drop-out rate among Islamic clergy must be very high.

I doubt it, Mortimer. If everyone who learned about what Islam demands left Islam, then Jihad would not be a problem. Would that that were so.

If Arabic was such an obstacle to learning Islam, how is it that 1 billion of the world’s Muslims are non Arabic speaking – be it the Indic (subcontinent + East Indies), Turkic and Iranian peoples? The Turks, in particular, rather than the Arabs, have been the most enthusiastic and aggressive spreaders of islam, w/o knowing Arabic.
Muslims should stop converting non-Arabs if they really think that Arabic is an obstacle. And if Muslims in the US can’t learn islam b’cos… Arabic, they should switch to a religion whose precepts can be translated into English
Infidel says
In India, for instance, Muslims are freely instructed in Urdu: India doesn’t import foreign seminaries from Arab countries. If only India could outlaw islam on the grounds that most indians do not speak or understand Arabic!

Good question, Infidel.
Of course, it is only with the Kuffar that Muslims pretend that Islam is completely unintelligible unless you read classical Arabic.
It would like claiming that you cannot understand anything at all about Christianity unless you are fluent in Aramaic, or Hinduism unless you have a degree in Sanskrit.
Infidel says
Right. And how many Latin speaking Catholics are there? Pali speaking Buddhists? Sanskrit speaking Hindus? The only languages I can think of which are the foundation languages of the faith and whose people speak are Hebrew, Mandarin (for Daoists), Japanese (for Shintos) and English (for LDS members)

“Growth of Islam” in the US, and the rest of the world, evidently created a need for sharia compliant financial exchange traded funds ETFs.
According to a recent article in Yahoo finance:
“SP Funds recently introduced Sharia-compliant equity and fixed income ETFs. Notably, this boutique asset management firm specializes in socially responsible and halal investing. The SP Funds S&P 500 Sharia Industry Exclusions ETF (SPUS) was launched on Dec 18, 2019, whereas the SP Funds Dow Jones Global Sukuk ETF (SPSK) made its debut on Dec 30.

Notably, the first Shariah-compliant U.S. equity ETF, Wahed FTSE USA Shariah ETF (HLAL), was launched by Wahed investin July 2019. The fund replicates the total return performance, before fees and expenses, of the FTSE USA Shariah Index (read: Wahed Invest’s Shariah-Compliant US Equity ETF Makes Debut).”
Along with HLAL, the fund competes with a couple of other ETFs focused on religious values.

I will regale ALL North American readers with THIS story, and it is true.
I’m a Limey, who has worked/lived/travelled in Western Europe – extensively for 11 years.
I recall, vividly, a day I had been working in Belgium. I had started to drive home, and stopped off in a Kruidvat (a shop) for razors, to have a shave, the following day, in a town called De Panne.
As I walked in, a young woman was close behind me. I could tell by her facial features she was Somali. She was wearing Western clothing and had no hijab on.
Later, we were in a queue/line near the counter/check out. We started chatting. It transpired she had fled – illegally – to Sweden, initially, to escape Islam. When she reached that country, she noticed – her frightening words – ‘ the Islam there was way way more puritanical and nasty than what she had encountered in Somalia.’
She then had to leave Sweden because she was fed up with being verbally and aggressively harassed for NOT wearing a hijab and conforming.
My point?
These clerics who are allowed into non Muslim countries are always as bad, if not worse, than back home from where they come from.
Wellington says
