“Muslims should unite after Iran commander’s killing: Mahathir,” Channel News Asia, January 7, 2020 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):
KUALA LUMPUR: Muslim countries should unite to protect themselves against external threats, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said on Tuesday (Jan 7) after describing the US killing of Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani as immoral.
The world’s oldest premier, who has in recent months stoked diplomatic tensions by speaking out on issues concerning the Muslim world, also said the US drone attack on Soleimani was against international laws.
Soleimani’s killing in Baghdad last Friday has sparked fears of a broader conflict in the Middle East. Mahathir, 94, said it could also lead to an escalation in “what is called terrorism”.
“The time is right for Muslim countries to come together,” Mahathir told reporters.
“We are no longer safe now. If anybody insults or says something that somebody doesn’t like, it is all right for that person from another country to send a drone and perhaps have a shot at me.”
Comparing the killing of Soleimani to the 2018 murder of Saudi dissident and journalist Jamal Khashoggi, Mahathir said both happened across boundaries.
“This is also another act where one country decides on its own to kill the leaders of another country.
“Both are guilty of immoral acts, it is against the law, ” he said, according to the Star.
About 50 people gathered outside the Iranian embassy in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, to shout “Down, Down USA”….

More double standards from Mahathir. But of course, Malaysia has terrorism problems of its own. Would it be ‘immoral’ for Malaysian troops to fight those terrorists who are killing Malaysian security forces? Apparently, they are fighting them and putting them out of business.
Mahathir must realizes that some Muslims are terrorists. He should be thankful that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard terrorists are not trying to undermine his country.

Generally Muslim regimes only care if Jihad terrorists are attacking them personally. Otherwise, they have no problem with it. And why would they?

The jihadi terrorists who are operating in the south of Thailand are doing so from northern Malaysia.
As for Mahathir, he’s always been scum. When he was Immigration Minister around the time of the fall of Saigon he was asked by an Australian journalist what would happen if Vietnamese refugees fleeing the communists landed on Malaysian shores. His reply was “We’ll just shoot them”.
When this created a fair bit of outrage in the region and in Australia he tried to back track it and claim what he actually said was “We’ll just shoo them”, but he’s Oxford education, his English is perfect, and he doesn’t make those sort of diction errors. It’s as clear as a bell on the tape made of the interview.

“Muslim countries coming together” is PC speak for what ISIS used to call reviving the islamic Caliphate…
94 huh? Guess he’s not in such a big hurry to meet those virgins… Must restore caliphate first.

That’s also the muslim Brotherhood’s dream. All they ever talk about is Muslims coming together (to smash the kuffar)

Only thing – they could never agree on who’d lead such a group, and there are a lot of countries w/ big egos who think that they’re the chosen ones. Even if they’re not Arab. Like Turkey, Malaysia, Pakistan…
Actually, the OIC is a virtual caliphate today, w/ even some non-Muslim members, like Mozambique, Guyana, Suriname. The Saudis did well to try and sabotage Mahathir’s recent conference by pulling Imran Khan out from under him

If they had just been insulting the U.S. forces at the base and not trying to break in and kill U.S. personal, this comment wouldn’t be a joke…

I’d say that what is immoral is all of Islam. Those quotes from the Koran calling for Muslims to kill non-Muslims wherever you find them is the very essence of immorality. I often think, if I were born a Muslim, but then I came across vile, totally immoral quotes like those from the Koran, I’d know that Islam was an ideology that I had to find a way to leave. Surely everyone has some sense of right and wrong. Mahathir’s calling the killing of Soleimani “immoral” is just yet another example of the total moral blindness of Muslims. Muslims can kill us non-Muslims and that’s just fine and dandy, but how dare we fight back and kill murderous Muslim creatures like Soleimani. I guess it’s that Muslim supremacism. We non-Muslims aren’t human, we don’t count, but how dare we kill Muslims. My feeling is, to hell with Mahathir and to hell with Islam.

Good statement. Islam is a curse on mankind. Amazing that one man could claim revelations from his allah god and end up with over a billion ignorant followers. Of course death for apostasy is the glue that holds many in Islam….executable by any real Muslim.

Thanks for the comments and information, Robert, Lt Mason and TruthWF. I find it sickening when Muslims, members of a religious ideology that says it’s OK to kill non-Muslims, rape non-Muslim women, etc, dare to talk about what is moral and what is immoral. By any civilised standards, Islam is completely immoral, and, yes, as you say, TruthWF, a curse on mankind. I can’t find any good in Islam, but I can see how much evil it has done in its long history.

Malaysia’s previous attempt at Muslim unity failed pretty badly:

It looks as though Mahathir is hoping that rage over taking out a vicious Jihadist will accomplish this instead.
Westman says
I think Mahathir is just trying to be relevant. As the leader of the largest nation of Muslims with perhaps the Ieast proportional influence, he must say something. Not for a moment do I think Mahathir actually believes the Sunni-Shi’a split will ever be healed. His own countrymen consider Shiites to be apostates.
It is worthwhile to note that Maylasia has its own terror groups that keep attacking Southern Thailand – so Mahathir’s kettle isn’t too shiny.

Indonesia is the largest Muslim population Muslim country at 263 million (87% Muslim). Malaysia has only 32 million (61% Muslim). It seems that those far east Muslim countries have little influence versus the SA’s and Turkey and such.
Infidel says
Despite that, the Arabs, Turks and Iranians don’t think much of the East Indies. They seem to prefer the contiguous places that Arabs and Turks conquered, like Pakistan, Bangladesh, and during Nehru dynasty times, India. A big country converting to Islam and contributing more Muslims to the ummah does nothing to earn the respect of the ummah: that remains reserved for the Arabs

Or … maybe things would be calmer in the Middle East if Muslims would stop killing other people so that other people would stop wanting to kill them. I know it’s a crazy idea but it just might work.

Pardon me, o wise one, but what are the two (2!) countries involved and the two leaders involved? Khashoggi was a Saudi as was, I presume, everyone in the KSA leadership. So the other country was …? Are you counting Khashoggi as an American given his time spent there? Fine, but not even Tlaib, Ilhan and other treacherous ”Americans” would never describe him as a leader. Please resign before I reach your age and everyone automatically considers me a vacant basket case.

If killing the terrorist Soleimani is immoral then all of islam is immoral. Islam kills women children and anyone else that it determines in its warped mind is in offense of their belief. Mahathir can’t recognize evil when he is looking right at it. He should look in the mirror, islam has created more evil and death in the 21st century than any other group or country.
