The New York Times admits below that many celebrated Soleimani’s death, but it chose to highlight a student claiming: “Knowing General Suleimani was out there made me feel safer. He was like a security umbrella above our country.” Nor does the Times note that Iran is an authoritarian regime in which people could arouse suspicion by not turning out to mourn Soleimani.
The New York Times clearly wants you to believe that Soleimani was a grand fellow, selflessly caring for the Iranian people and happily picking the petals off a daisy while saying “She loves me…she loves me not” when the evil Trump took him out. This is ridiculous, of course. Soleimani was responsible for the deaths of hundreds of American soldiers and orchestrated jihad terror activity worldwide. But the Times, and the Leftist establishment in general, hates Trump so much that it will stoop even to lionizing this bloodthirsty murderer.
“Why Iran Is in Mourning,” New York Times, January 7, 2020:
“Knowing General Suleimani was out there made me feel safer,” said a student about the commander killed in an American drone strike. “He was like a security umbrella above our country.”
The killing of Maj. Gen. Qassim Suleimani, Iran’s most formidable military and intelligence leader, displayed the fault lines in a fractious region. From Iraq to Israel, many victims of the commander’s shadow warfare celebrated his death; but in Tehran, thousands filled the streets to grieve….

The New York Times supported Stalin. Nothing new for this vile, filthy propaganda rag.

The NYT is staffed and run by a team of traitors whose wish is to weaken the US, produce and create a globalist Utopia run by billionaires and dictators for the benefit of the billionaires and dictators.
Such a political system would be best described as ‘Globalist Fascism’.
The NYT is lending support to the most retrograde force on earth. Supremacist, misogynistic Islam.

It would appear that the student’s trust was misplaced.

Now *that* is hilarious!
mortimer says
The student has been brainwashed his whole life and no doubt intended no irony.
The Iranian media no doubt place the most positive spin on every Hezbollah attack.
Most Iranians are not buying it, but they keep silent most of the time. We’ll soon see if they rise up and overthrow these brutal kleptocrats.
H. VanCuren says
It is difficult to overthrow your government when and if you are a disarmed populace. Take geed, Americans.

“Nor does the Times note that Iran is an authoritarian regime in which people could arouse suspicion by not turning out to mourn Soleimani.” The NYT also forgot to mention the more than a hundred people killed in the crowd that was forced to demonstrate. I would, also, like to know why an Iranian was issued a visa to attend a university when the US has no embassy in Iran nor does the US have official diplomatic relations with said government or is he/she a US citizen? My guess is that the rag sheet fabricated the entire event. The State Department also made a statement that all Americans should leave Iran which causes me wonder how Americans entered and what they are doing in Iran when under American law, they are subject to having their passports invalidated for doing so.
Another major point, although a rhetorical one, is why the NYT did not interview a soldier who had been injured by one of Soleimani’s EIDs, a family member of a soldier who has been killed or maybe an Israeli who has lost a family member owing to his support and arming of Hamas and other terrorists with missiles launched against the Jewish State of Israel.

To add emphasis on forced rally participation, WMD released the following article: https://www.wnd.com/2020/01/iran-activist-dont-believe-u-s-media-coverage-soleimani-mourners/?utm_source=Email&utm_medium=wnd-newsletter&utm_campaign=dailyam&utm_content=newsletter
It is well worth the read.

Ray, I heard on the TV news out here in Australia that same information, that, well they said 50 people were killed in the insane, way over the top mourning carry on in Iran, and I thought, what pathetic, loony, chaotic societies these Muslim countries and their people are. Can you believe it, they get together to do their usual over the top style of mourning and 50 more people ( or maybe 100 more people as you mention) get killed as they mourn this one scumbag, Soleimani. Yeah, that really makes sense. Total insanity. Maybe if they have enough of these mourning ceremonies then they could all wipe one another out, down to the last madman in their society.
gravenimage says
Life is cheap for Muslims–even the lives of other Muslims.
tim gallagher says
Isn’t it insane though, gravenimage? You hold a rally for one dead guy and end up with another 50 or 100 killed. Of course, it is the totally over the top frenzy these loonies get into, like those baying mobs we see so often in Pakistan, where they are calling someone (such as Asia Bibi) to be murdered. The way I figure it, if you could have these frenzied mourning rallies for 50 scumbags such as Soleimani, then that should cause either 2500 or 5000 of these evil barbarians to wipe one another out. (depending on whether you get 50 or 100 to kill one another). Are the people who get killed while mourning considered to be martyrs who get to go to the gross idea of paradise that Muslims believe in or is it only when they are killing non-Muslims that they get to go to their “paradise”? The main thing is that people who have the mentality of these people are very dangerous.
gravenimage says
Yes, it’s crazy, Tim–but that is Islam all over. Irrational, and viciously so.

So much for objective journalism and conscientious media reporting in all leftist and Democrat affiliated news outlets. They sound more like the Pravda propaganda machine during the days of the Soviet Union.
More accurately, like the “Ba’ath” newspaper of the Syrian regime.

The NYT never was objective. Look up Walter Durante. The only people who think the NYT is worth reading are soft minded pseudo-intellectual types for whom there are no clue-bats large enough to make a difference.

New York Times features Iranian student saying Soleimani “made me feel safer,” was “like a security umbrella”
………………….
Now this poor Iranian student doesn’t have his murderous “security umbrella” anymore. Good to know that the New York Times is weeping for him…
mortimer says
Why is NYT glamorizing those who shout ‘DEATH TO AMERICA’ ??
Is the NYT and its staff NOT American? When Iran’s quarterback of ‘DEATH TO AMERICA’ is brought down, why does the NYT want to support the other team?
The NYT is FEEDING THE CROCODILE in the hope it will eat them last.
The US press often gets the evilest figures wrong. In 1938, they called Hitler the ‘man of the year’.
mortimer says
Quote: Iranian student saying Soleimani “made me feel safer,” was “like a security umbrella”.
I wonder if German students said similar things about Hitler in 1938? Because they didn’t say that in 1945.
