At last, an American President.
“Trump Following Iran Strikes: New Economic Sanctions, Demands Allies Reject Iran Nuclear Deal, Blames Obama Admin, Says Iran is ‘Standing Down,’” by Raheem Kassam, War Room, January 8, 2020:
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. President Donald Trump delivered an address from the grand lobby of the White House today, following the Iranian attacks on Iraqi bases last night.
Speaking in front of reporters, President Trump opened his remarks by declaring: “As long as I am President of the United States, Iran will never be allowed to have a nuclear weapon.”…
The U.S. President said the “American people should be extremely grateful and happy,” with the fact that “no Americans were harmed”, and that there were “no casualties” and that “minimal damage was sustained” as a result of Iran’s attack.
“Iran appears to be standing down,” he said, and claimed that “An early warning system… worked very well”.
Turning to the killing of Qassem Soleimani, President Trump declared that the Iranian commander had fostered forces in Iraq, as well as in the region, including the terror group Hezbollah.
“He fuelled bloody civil wars across the region,” Trump said, adding Soleimani’s hands were, “drenched in America and Iranian blood… he should have been terminated long ago”.
President Trump said the U.S. is continuing to evaluate options in response, but will immediately impose and expand economic sanctions “until Iran changes its behavior”.
Turning to increased Iranian aggression over the past few years, the U.S. President outlined how the Obama administration furnished Iran with billions of dollars.
“The missiles [from last night] were paid for by the funds made available by the last administration”….

That Islamic hate “mullah tyranny” of Iran is spiteful and violent ,likewise it had started and supports as well as funds murderous jihad entities as Hezbollah and Hamas
So violent is that Islamic tyranny is striving to obtain and construct nuclear weapon as well as other weapon to use against Israel. This is keeping with the long history of that violent “mullah regime” of Iran. Likewise also keeping within bounds All this fits with the actual legacy of Ayatollah Khomeini is the of violence and war. To be more specific Islamic violence and war. Strangely, there are many young people and strangely many older people, who are Westerns who in the United States as well other countries of the West are, no doubt sincere but very misinformed ,as in misled, therefore say ,because they believe it, that “Islam is a peaceful and non-violent religion .”
To those people the first and supreme Ayatollah Khomeini , who was the very head this current Islamic regime of Iran knows better stated about how he feels about those naïve Westerns .For he declared “Islam grew with blood….Islam is a religion of blood for the infidels” He also said “Those who know nothing of Islam pretend that Islam counsels against war….I spit upon those foolish souls who make such a claim.” [1]
So, in other words Ayatollah Khomenei felt nothing but arrogant contempt for those people who say that his religion “Is a peaceful religion” and understand that they in ignorant and uninformed.

I agree with your summation of the Islamic Republic of Iran. They are given far too much leeway owing to their status as a recognized nation-state as opposed to the terrorist groups you mentioned which are considered non-state actors and therefore are fair game for whatever action a country deems necessary. I think that you are also right about the true victims of sanctions but the long view plan is to foster revolution against the regime by the people who will suffer the most from the sanctions. I personally believe that direct action against American military forces should be responded to with swift military action, not economic sanctions.
Walter Sieruk says
Since 1979 this tyrannical Islam regime of Iran was found of the false promises and Islamic violence lying words of Ayatollah Khomeini and his lies and deceptions began this Islamic regime Iran which is based in the foundation of false and empty promises. As well as lying words. After the fiendish Muslim clerics obtained total power in Iran they showed their true colors by having their Islamic state police who are called the “Revolutionary Guards truest the people on Iran in many heinously brutal and ruthless ways. As, for example, their brutal, callous misogyny against both girls and women. This thesis statement is explained, in some detail, by the following. This tyrannical Islamic regime in Iran that so falsely and inappropriately has the word “republic” in its title. It should be made known that this called the “Iranian Revolution” turned out to be a hoax. Ayatollah Khomeini before achieving power in Iran in his lying and deceptions presented himself to the Iranian people as if he was someone who would be in power would give freedom to the people of Iran with any tyranny. The reality turned out to be just the opposite. As explained by a former Muslim as well as a man who took part in this Islamic “revolution “ ,who is now a Christian informs the reader of his book that “Prior to the Revolution no one ever imagined that other political parties would be suppressed under the rule of Ayatollah Khomeini. He had promised that all groups would have freedom to run their own campaigns after the Revolution. He even stated that governing system would be based on the decision of the people via a referendum. He never spoke of a system that would be governed by Islam. He even made clear that mullahs would not take part in any political activities, and that they would only be allowed to teach spirituality… Immediately after the Revolution, mullahs rushed into government offices to occupy the most important political l positions, making it difficult for the interim secular government to function … The mullah’s occupation of position was exactly the opposite to what the Ayatollah Khomeini had promised before the Revolution.”. [1]
In other words, the insincere, disingenuous and outright lying Ayatollah Khomeini made many bogus promise he really had no intention of keeping. His lying deception worked, for he achieved great power in Iran.
Furthermore, of the many heinously evils outcome s of that Islamic “revolution” is the extremely cruel, brutal and demonic misogyny of this hideous Islamic regime. Not only against women but even young girls. As explained by a former Iranian Revolutionary Guard member who defected to the West and how now lives in America his book also informs the reader about the malicious and murderous affront girls in Iran’s Evin prison which reads that those in power ,the “paraded teenage girls in front in front of me as they led them to their deaths. These girls were barely out of their childhood, barely old enough to think of themselves, much less form thoughts against the state. They knew nothing about the machinations of politics. They were innocent in every sense of the word and certainty innocent of trumped –up charges that led to their imprisonment. Yet they suffered fates too brutal for even the most vicious criminal. ..Their few remaining moments of life had been filled with the level of abuse that few can imagine…The author further states “They tortured and killed young girls, in God’s name and before their execution they raped them because they believed that if a girl dies virgin, she will go to heaven, and they wanted to deny them this reward.” [2]
This is as malice -filled and viciously wicked as can possibly be. This, very much, reflects the Wisdom found in the Bible which in Proverbs 15:15. For it reads “All the days of the oppressed are wretched. “ and likewise Proverbs 29:2. Which teaches “When the wicked rule, the people groan. “ [N.I.V.]

Wellington,
Agree, we NEED Pres. Trump back for another term in 2020.
I am starting to convince most Independents that I know – and even a few “centrist” Democrats – to do the same.
Infidel says
Most of the RINOs are getting extinct. McCain is looking down – or up, depending on where one thinks he is. Will Hurd is retiring, Justin Amash has gone independent, Bob Corker and Jeff Flake retired and a number of RINO congressmen like Barbara Comstock, Amy Love, et al lost their seats in 2018 either to a MAGA/KAG candidate or to a Dem. The only RINOs left in the party are in the Senate – Collins, Murkowski and Romney.
The real problem that the GOP has is the establishment vs the MAGA/KAG group. By establishment, I’m talking about congressmen who
– Support having troops indefinitely in the Middle East
– Oppose normalizing relations w/ Russia
– Are lukewarm about immigration reform – both legal and illegal
– Look the other way as Wall Street decimates Middle America w/ vulture capitalist practices
– Ignore the opioid crisis
– Oppose a trade war w/ China, despite what it’s cost America
While Trump successfully pulled off a hostile takeover of the GOP in 2016, the GOP has yet to have someone w/ his views in most congressional and senate seats. The number of congressmen who are real MAGA/KAG members can be counted on one hand – Rand Paul, Josh Holley, Matt Gaetz, Jim Jordan, Mark Meadows. There are some others as well, like Ron DeSantis, Kris Kobach… But otherwise, most of the congress is like Mitch or Kevin, who are too married to GOP policies of old to make the congressional party in synch w/ the president. And Ronna McDaniels too doesn’t seem to recognize that divide, and how to have people who share the main views of the president so that voters would be as enthusiastic about them as they are about him

I hope this will not cost the Republicans and the president the election this year. It should make Iran stop at least some of its support for terror, but what if the regime falls and a worse one takes its place. I wish the Democrats would stop bashing the president and express solidarity. It is a matter of US security as well as protecting other countries in the world. Iran somehow gets sympathy it does not deserve. Typical of the world today. Only the bad guys get sympathy.

Kesselman says
Isolationists suggest “containment” of Muslims as a solution, erecting giant walls, keeping the bad guys “over there.” Isolationism doesn’t work though. For starters, millions of Muslims are already living here among us. More Muslims will figure out ways to sneak in anyway, either in person, ICBM, or nuke on a container ship.—With President Donald Trump we finally see a totally new approach; Iran has to be somehow isolated. In that respect I’m an “isolationist.” And before or later the president gets his will with Iran. Later on we have to turn to the infamous Wahabist regime in Ryad.
gravenimage says
Oh, we were pretty safe when Islam was contained, Kesselman. The problem is that Islam is *not* contained now–too many buy their oil and–much worse–allow Muslims to flood into the free West. I’d love to see Islam contained again.

I believe the only answer is to, as much as possible, keep Islam out of all non-Muslim countries. I just noticed, in the comments on that report about the “93% of Muslim political types in the USA” not agreeing with the Constitution, that you said, gravenimage, that Muslim migration into the USA is down by 90% under Trump’s Presidency. That’s great news. That’s the only approach to the problem. It is the Hungarian, Polish and Czech approach to Islam. Trump and his administration seem to get it and are on the right track. If only every non-Muslim country would wake up and do the same thing. As you say, we were pretty safe when Muslims were largely kept away from us.
eduardo odraude says
I’d like to stop Muslim immigration into non-Muslim nations, but in the US, the second you mention restriction on Muslim immigration, you are politically dead in the water. A more realistic policy politically, a policy that would stop Muslim immigration without ever mentioning Muslims, is this: A moratorium on immigration from nations that do not protect freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Such a policy would not only stop most Muslim immigration. The policy would also exclude a lot of immigration from China and even from some parts of Europe. The policy could make exceptions by permitting immigration of dissidents and oppressed minority groups that support freedom, perhaps also exceptions for some scientists. The moratorium would not only shore up and secure free institutions in the West. The policy would also put salutary pressure on authoritarian and totalitarian nations to start protecting free speech and freedom of religion.
abad says
Bingo.
The only solution to the Islam problem right now is to keep them in their own Moslem-majority nations.
You know, prior to 9-11, nobody really cared about the Moslem problem in the Middle East. Israel is capable of handling the Moslems in its midst.
The rest of the Moslem world…
I look at it this way.
It’s comparable to the gang warfare in Chicago.
Moslem Lives Matter (TM Pending) is never going to exist when Moslems kill each other. The rest of the world does not care. The Quran demands killing, even among Moslems themselves, when one of them violates Sharia.
And when Moslems are done killing each other, well they will be doing the rest of the world a tremendous favor.
Demsci says
Eduardo, you “proposed” the policy of moratorium Etc I would vote for it if I could. I would be in favor of a sort of UDN; United Democratic Nations. United against Dictatorial Nations, who themselves all too often also unite against the Democratic Nations, who sometimes foolishly oppose each other..
I do see that it are precisely those countries that are dictatorial that “produce” the most refugees. And my idea for the future is that we among the UDN find some “empty lands” (for cities, not so much for agriculture, so these need not be big empty lands) where we can stall and monitor large numbers of refugees from dictatorial, even Islamic, countries.
Since we ourselves as UDN control the land, and can provide funds, we can install rules and conditions on living in these “refugee states”. But we can then receive quite substantial numbers of refugees, but in the “empty lands”, not in our own countries.
I envisage for instance that we create some alternative Iran elsewhere and then encourage Iranians to go migrate there, but under our conditions. That way Iranians can vote with their feet, even more than they already do (as 100.000 + Iranians flee Iran each year). If Iran loses its best and brightest, then won’t the regime be severely tested and exposed? Oh, there are huge risks, and we may lose these new refugee states, but the alternative might be that we get overrun in our countries thanks to leftist policies.
Disclaimer. I like to brainstorm over POSSIBLE solutions to big problems. And you see, in the past America WAS such an (almost) empty land and that worked well for Europeans especially. And now that desalination is possible mankind may perhaps make the Earths deserts green and habitable (like Phoenix, Arizona). And guess what; CO2 might help with greening those deserts,

Isolation does work when one knows what one’s dealing w/. Like when candidate Trump suggested a temporary ban on Muslims entering the US in 2015, he was on the right track. The travel ban has touched just a subset of that: more countries need to be added to it to make it effective.
Also, as Col Doug McGregor pointed out, Iran is currently struggling due to the sanctions and is no longer the biggest threat to US interests. The biggest threat to US interests in the Mideast is ‘NATO ally’ Turkey, which wants to dominate Iraqi and Syrian Kurdistan for starters, and then as much of the Arab and Muslim world as they can. The ideal thing is to let them battle the Kurds, the Iranians, the Sunni Arabs and the Shia Arabs for control in every place they target. And all of that can be very good for the West provided they leave that hellhole
tim gallagher says
Thanks for those comments, Eduardo, abad and Infidel. I live in Australia and I don’t think we would ( so far) get all that many people agreeing to end Muslim migration into this country. I believe it is the only real solution to the problems that Islam always brings everywhere it is allowed to go. I was just surprised and impressed when I read the comment by gravenimage, where she said that Muslim migration was down by 90% during Trump’s Presidency. I thought that was a fantastic achievement. I wish it was the same here in Australia. I am absolutely convinced that the Hungarians, the Poles and Czech are on the right track and are showing the rest of the world what should be the policy towards Islam. I also thought Burma was right when it threw out its Muslims. I don’t if we’ll ever get it done, but I do believe that all non-Muslim countries should keep Muslims out. Maybe it is a utopian dream I have. I just wish far more people would wake the hell up and demand that their governments end Muslim migration.

Agree, infidel, as often, but for the proviso that we “need” to prevent nuclearization of Iran’s regime. I read in the Arab press (!) repeatedly that “Iran is a cause, not a country”.
So, when some Persian emperor would conquer Iraq, Syria and Lebanon, for expansion of his state, so what? Let him.
But I think that if Iran already had the Atomic bomb, the Apocalyptic Ayatollah’s would have hit America much harder in revenge of Soleimani’s death, even in a suicidal way. And so, what if “we” don’t stop them acquiring the nuclear bomb? Remember, Kim Young Un, in comparison, is, much more, a country-defender, not a cause-promotor so much. I doubt if he is suicidal.
Infidel says
Demsci
We don’t need ground troops in Iraq, Syria or Afghanistan to stop Iran from getting nukes. The latter can be managed w/ a combination of sanctions and intel, and if we get news that they’re really progressing on nukes, we could bomb those sites like we bombed Soleimani
Flip says
Immigration restrictions cannot end a war any more than a gun free zone can end gun violence. Bomb (and do not occupy or rebuild) the 2 main regimes that support the jihadist movement–Iran & Saudi Arabia–until they give up their goal of imposing a theocracy. Once the idea is discredited (like imperialist Shintoism, Nazism, and “Confederatism”), all the Muslims, Shintos, Germans, and Southerners in the world can be my neighbors.
gravenimage says
Flip, keeping Muslims out of the civilized world does indeed keep us safer.
Demsci says
Infidel, first maybe I was not clear; I meant “if a Persian emperor only wanted extra territory for his STATE, let him, it is just that the ayatollah’s really want their Islamist CAUSE to spread. And that is more dangerous.
But about not needing troops on the ground in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria. Well, perhaps for the Kurds, or some part of the Afghan population, but otherwise I agree with you now. (And with Tucker Carlson). Because we can stop Iran’s nuclearization without those troops, OK. Although perhaps not without use of violence, through bunkerbusters.
Because even if IS rises again, hopefully they now understand that they CAN handle the Iraqi army, PMF and Iranian helpers and all,
but they should not prematurely challenge ALSO the American/ Western Air Force! Whom they CAN’T handle!
And so if they now stay local, we can stay neutral and challenge Iran to defeat IS on it’s own, as it is claiming that it did, primarily on it’s own, which is false.
But we know that Iran was losing in Syria in 2015 and Soleimani flew to Moscow and persuaded the Russians to help. Only with them could Assad win. So, presumably only with American (or Russian!) help can “IS 2.0” be overcome.

No, the last thing we need in Iran is another nation-building exercise. We’ve seen the results in Iraq: 15 years of nation building, and now, the Iraqi government wants us to leave. We don’t need to repeat the experiments of Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya. Let Iranians deal w/ their regime, and let the various Muslim ethnic groups fight each other to death in the battlefields of Iraq and Syria

Forget Iran, most people in the US are not JihadWatchers, and would never stand for it

I’m asking myself why the left has shown so much love for Iran, and for Islam in general.
I’m thinking there is a practical reason and an ideological reason.
The practical reason is that Iran works to get democrats elected, and channels money to them for that purpose.
The ideological reason is that the vision the left has for the future of this country is compatible with a repressive, totalitarian dictatorship.

The 2 main reasons are altruism (America is big & jihadist-supporting states are small, so it must be David good & Goliath bad) and nihilism (hatred of the good for being the good).
