It is no secret that Turkey is becoming increasingly Islamized under the rule of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and its new Islamic finance laws herald its full adoption of Sharia. Turkey should have long ago been thrown out of NATO.
“Turkey edges toward Islamic law with new finance rules,” by Orhan Kemal Cengiz, Turkey Pulse, January 14, 2020:
For the the first time in the modern Turkish republic, a ruling party has officially imposed religious rules in the public sphere, reigniting concerns that Turkey is gradually drifting toward an Islamic regime.
The Turkish government set out Islamic directives to regulate inspections on interest-free finance. Independent auditing firms will have to obey Islamic rules and established Islamic practices while inspecting the interest-free financial institutions, according to the country’s official gazette published Dec. 14. Interest-free finance, also known as Islamic banking, is a fast-growing market in Turkey under the rule of the Justice and Development Party (AKP).
Speculation over Turkey’s drifts toward Islam is not new. Ever since the AKP came into power in 2002, there has been incessant discussion of whether Turkey would become an Islamic regime. However, according to most political scientists and observers, the Turkish experience under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is not unique. For them, Erdogan is yet another populist leader, not so different from Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban or President Donald Trump. They also tend to think that the regime is not unique to Turkey: It is competitive authoritarianism, where competition exists to a degree and the power of the opposition is curtailed….

This will further burden the Turkish economy and bring financial failure to many. As if Turkey is not dysfunctional enough. When it becomes too frustrating to do business there, many business will relocate. Islam-idiot-ists. Islam is always dysfunctional as a political or social ideology.

Isn’t Islamic finance just a way of calling interest something else? What’s the difference if I buy something for $10,000 and then sell it to someone for $11,000 by means of equal installment payments from the buyer to me over the course of a year or if I loan someone $10,000 at 10% rate of interest? It amounts to the same thing, doesn’t it? Islamic finance seems to me like another name for requiring collateral for a loan. It’s pretending one way of making money is something else – or of lying to yourself.

It’s so absurd to say that all interest payments are bad. Reasonable payments (of 3-5 percent per year, and at simple interest rather than compound interest) is just an understandable payment for time. *All* business transactions involve payments for labor, time and resources (ususally a combination of all three). That’s why if a shop is doing brisk business selling chocolate bars for example, they can often give a 20-30% discount, because all the product will be sold before the end of the month. If all payments for time are wrong, then *every* business deal anytime, anywhere in the world should be “haram” by that standard!

Agreed.
PETER BUCKLEY says
“There are empirical studies that theism is on the rise in Turkey, especially among imam school students. The pollster Optimar found that in 2017, 99% of Turks identified themselves as Muslims, but in 2019, only 89.5% said they were Muslim. An unexpected 4.5% said they were theist, 2.7% agnostic and 1.7% atheist, and 1.6% did not answer.
Another pollster, Konda, who published a survey of 5,800 people, found that Turkish youths were less likely than the wider population to describe themselves as “religious conservative.” They were also less likely to say that they fasted or prayed regularly, or (for females) that they covered their hair. Konda’s survey found the percentage of atheists at 3% while in the past ten years, the percentage of “devout” Turks had declined from 55% to 51%. Konda’s survey also found that those Turks who think a woman must receive her husband’s permission to work had dropped from 69% to 55%.
“Apparently,” said Selin Özköhen, head of the Atheism Association, “Erdoğan’s campaign to raise devout generations has backfired.”

Islam is now in an impossible situation in the modern world. The more it imposes itself, the more more muslims reject. When it DOESN’T impose itself, in the West, apostasy becomes rife anyway:

Islam and its followers are being ‘corrupted’ by the wicked West. Tee Hee! Freedom is so alluring.

This video is such good news. Link it to all your friends.
@7:35 “Yes he is a good man” (NO!) “Good people lie” (Especially if he is a muslim). This imam should have killed the man who said he didn’t believe anymore.(According to the Koran 4:89…..”take (hold) of them and kill them wherever you find them,” )
@10:45 “Fables and myths”. What like Muhammad and his flying donkey-ride?
This imam seems to have more love than the Koran. It is good that he paints a depressing future for Islam. Let us pray he is right.

Turkey continues move toward adopting Sharia with new Islamic finance laws
………………….
“Shari’ah finance” is fiscal sleight-of-hand at best. In its “pure” form it only really works when Muslims are just pirating and enslaving Infidels.
What it is really about now is just enforcing Islamic norms on the civilized world.
JOHN says
If Turkey becomes another islamic state, then soon we will have 10 islamic run Nations in the World,s worse 11 Nations to live in. islamic rules equates to another Demonic CESSPIT on Earth.

John–with all respect–your belief that there are only ten Islamic-run nations in the world is mistaken. There are many more than that.

We’ve left ourselves with a nasty choice. Turkey is no ally, yet by the urge of mission creep NATO expanded to Asia Minor as if that would solidify forever the work done by Kemal Ataturk. But the happy structures he put on the country will be gone soon, snuffed out by Sharia, as commanded in the Holy Ko-Ran. So do we dump Turkey and leave it to the ChiComms and Russia to pick up? Or do we keep a faux ally that openly works against the interests of freedom? Either way is bad.
By its NATO membership it is that if Turkey is attacked, it’s as if America was attacked and we’ll respond militarily, by the book, at least. That’d be us going to war for Sharia, on the cutting edge of the sword expanding Islam.

If Turkey has mosques, qurans how has it not followed the sharia law? It has turned the Sophia Hagia to a mosque, and Turkey then who were the Turks, I think is part of the OIC, teaching the life of Mohamed, and verses, practicing fasting and praying, unless they were just less active in jihad wars? Or did they not enforce the harsh penalties? They also migrate to spread Islam in Maryland…..and take orders from SA. So would Erdgohan need to close his office.?
gravenimage says
Technically Hagia Sofia is still a “museum”, but there is increasing pressure in fast re-Islamizing Turkey to turn it back into a Mosque as was done after Muslims slaughtered the Christians taking sanctuary there at the Islamic conquest of Constantinople.
Kemalism’s sidelining of Islam in Turkey still has some small influence there–but less all the time under Erdogan.
underbed cat says
Ex-musltims speak truthfully, muslims omit..treaties with non muslim countries are always temporary at best, or for as long as they can hide the activities, or get stronger so why would a muslim president send money to Iran…. because he was muslim.
SamB says
Turkey’s adoption of Shari’a and parallel laws is natural for people who aspire Qur’anic governance. However, when Erdogan and his proxies do so belligerently it is another matter. The recent “coup” was precisely staged to give him the context of legitimacy. He has incarcerated his opposition and God knows how many were killed to achieve this unanimous decision to overturn a secular order. So far, the Americans and Trump support him; so do the Europeans, for how else can’t they tell him to beat it? Islamic Banking is but a step to overhaul the whole secular framework.
