Bernie Sanders has let it be known that he won’t be attending the AIPAC meeting this year because of the “bigotry” displayed by that organization. In fact, he has never attended a meeting of AIPAC, has no real idea of what that organization does, cannot possibly have read their literature, if he thinks there is an ounce of “bigotry” in the works and days of that Samaritan group that has the audacity of hoping to correct misinformation and disinformation about the tiny Jewish state, a state that would like – what an outrageous demand! – to exist in reasonable security. Bernie is convinced of AIPAC’s malevolence, and of his own righteousness in denouncing it. He doesn’t need to find out for himself. He has such reliable sources as Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Linda Sarsour – why would they lie? — to keep him posted on the malign bigotry of AIPAC.
When he announced that he would not be going to AIPAC’s conference, Ilhan Omar was full of praise.“Thank you Bernie Sanders for standing up for Palestinian human rights,” tweeted Omar, whose own comments about the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) stoked controversy and divisions within the House Democratic caucus last year
“All candidates should follow Bernie’s example and #SkipAIPAC!” added Omar, who has endorsed and is campaigning for Sanders. Omar has also tried to blacken AIPAC’s name, suggesting that it bribed politicians to support Israel. Omar apparently did not know that AIPAC makes no political donations. For Omar, the only conceivable reason for a politician to support Israel is if they are being paid to do so. She apparently fails to realize that tens of millions of Americans — not only, and not even mainly, Jews — admire Israel, understand its moral significance, as well as its importance as an unshakeable ally, that shares American values. For Omar any support for Israel is bought and paid for – “it’s all about the benjamins, baby!”
Linda Sarsour was equally enthusiastic about Sander’s brusque dismissal of AIPAC, made by her soul brother, Bernie Sanders, whom she has endorsed. and for whom she has appeared as a surrogate at rallies. Sarsour is, like Omar, a supporter of the anti-Israel boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement that many people consider as antisemitic. But Bernie apparently does not mind accepting support from those who admire that vicious antisemite Louis Farrakhan, promote the BDS movement, and disseminate the oldest of antisemitic tropes. For Sanders finds “bigotry” only among supporters, never among the detractors, of Israel.
Sarsour tweeted in response to Sanders’ remark that he would not be attending the AIPAC meeting that “You can support the Palestinian & Israeli people without supporting leaders or organizations that oppose the freedom & liberation of the Palestinian people,” Sarsour tweeted. “Thank you Bernie Sanders. #SkipAIPAC” Sarsour, as many have been chagrined to discover, has a long history of antisemitic remarks, such as her infamous description of Israel as being “built on the idea that Jews are supreme to everyone else.” This is a venerable and baseless antisemitic charge. Few have seen fit to answer her back as they should: “Linda, it is the Qur’an that endorses Muslim supremacism, for it tells Muslims that they are ‘the best of peoples’ and non-Muslims ‘the most vile of created beings.’ What could be a clearer endorsement of Muslim supremacism than those two Qur’anic verses? Or what of the more than 100 Qur’anic verses that command Muslims to fight, to kill, to smite at the necks of, to strike terror in the hearts of, non-Muslims?”
Sarsour is a stout defender and admirer of Louis Farrakhan, whose demented antisemitism surpasses even her own. And she hates any criticism of Islam. Some may remember how she reacted to the ex-Muslim Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a relentless islamocritic. With her usual delicacy and tact, Sarsour tweeted that Ayaan Hirsi Ali, who had herself been the victim of female genital mutilation as a child, was “asking for an a$$ whippin,” adding: “I wish I could take their vaginas away–they don’t deserve to be women.” Eventually, Sarsour (along with Tamika Mallory) was removed from her leadership position in the Women’s March after many of its supporters protested that her involvement with the organization represented a tacit endorsement of antisemitism. She may now be persona non grata for the Women’s March, but she remains, despite her many outrageous remarks, in good standing with Senator Bernie Sanders.
And then there is Rashida Tlaib, the Palestinian-American Congresswoman who, like Ilhan Omar and Linda Sarsour, is an endorser and enthusiastic supporter of Bernie Sanders. She has made a series of antisemitic tweets about Israel. Perhaps the most disturbing was her retweeting of a tweet by Hanan Ashrawi, a top Palestinian official, who was quote-tweeting an account, @realSeifBitar, that accused Israeli settlers of kidnapping, assaulting and throwing into a well an eight-year-old child. “The heart just shatters,” Ashrawi said.
In fact, the boy, Qais Abu Ramila, appears to have drowned accidentally in a reservoir of rainwater in eastern Jerusalem. Israeli first responders found him on Saturday and tried to revive him.
Tlaib removed her retweet, but said nothing publicly. Never apologize, never explain, is her motto. Even after Ashrawi eventually apologized for “retweeting something that’s not fully verified” [PalSpeak for “is a flat-out lie”], Tlaib did not retweet the retraction.
This isn’t Tlaib’s only link to individuals trafficking in blood libels.
Before her planned trip to Israel was canceled due to Israel’s refusal to admit the organizers, we learned that the “Palestinian organization that had organized Reps. Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar’s planned delegation to Jerusalem and the West Bank once claimed that Jews put Christian blood in matzah.” This is the oldest antisemitic of blood libels.
Omar, Tlaib’s fellow “Squad” member, has her own checkered past with spreading anti-Semitic content, having done so on more than one occasion.
When she portrayed American supporters of Israel as having been bought off by Jews, a full-blown scandal erupted. Even Democrats such as Nancy Pelosi and Chelsea Clinton weighed in, chiding the congresswoman for trafficking in antisemitic tropes. Yet she got away with it. The Democrat-controlled House of Representatives tried (and failed) to pass a resolution condemning antisemitism. (It instead passed an extremely watered-down version, decrying “all hate” more generally instead.)
No wonder that in 2019, in the Wiesenthal Center’s list of the top ten antisemites and antisemitic incidents,, Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib and IIhan Omar shared spot number five for their “slander of Israel and Jews.” The Center wrote that Tlaib “launched her career in the US House of Representatives by slandering colleagues who supported a resolution seeking to weaken the anti-Israel, Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement when she tweeted, ‘They forgot what country they represent.’” Tlaib also reportedly falsified history, declaring that she had “warm feelings about the way Palestinians ‘provided’ a homeland for Holocaust survivors… ‘I love the way my ancestors provided that…’”
Of course, the “Palestinians” (who had not yet been invented as a separate people) did not “provide a homeland for Holocaust survivors.” The Land of Israel, which Arabs had occupied, was never theirs to provide. The “homeland” was “provided” not just to Holocaust survivors, but to other Jews, by 3000 years of history connecting the Jewish people to their ancestral homeland. Nor did the “Palestinians” welcome the Holocaust survivors, as Tlaib claims, but did everything they could to make sure that they would be met by murderous violence.
The Wiesenthal Center said that Omar similarly invoked the dual loyalty canard by declaring that “I want to talk about the political influence in this country that says it is okay to push for allegiance to a foreign country.” Omar “echoed a pernicious antisemitic theme about ‘Jewish money’ invoked by Hitler and other antisemites,” stating that “it’s all about the Benjamins, baby.” She also wrote on Twitter that US politicians are controlled by AIPAC.
Bernie Sanders is every sitcom’s idea of the lovable, avuncular, getting-on-in-years Jewish man, who’s retained that recognizable winning Brooklyn accent, a kindly fellow full of Yiddishkeit, and folk wisdom, whose shtick is a special house blend of much-diluted Bolshevism and the Borscht Belt. But perhaps he’s not quite so lovable, to those who know how maddeningly unjust he has been to Israel, and to members of AIPAC, who wish Israel well. We should judge him by the company he keeps: Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Linda Sarsour. That’s enough. That’s more than enough.

Bernie is a very dangerous person. I’d rather have a blind, deaf, and dumb Muslim President in a wheelchair with palsy than Bernie for President.
Steve Edelman says
I need to ask this: Is the Democratic Party the only major party with Muslim candidates?
mortimer says
Mr. Sanders has kept himself generally free of religious knowledge throughout his life. He shows practically no understanding of Christian, Jewish or Islamic theologies beyond the Golden Rule. He seems unaware that the Golden Rule is contradicted by Koran 48.29 … ‘those who follow (Mohammed) are harsh towards the disbelievers but compassionate one to another.’
Sanders learned to read the Hebrew alphabet as a boy, presumably to pass his tests for bar mitzvah. He spent a few months on a socialist kibbutz in Israel. His brother called him ‘substantially unreligious’. I will take that assessment literally. I see no evidence in any of Sander’s comments that he understands any theology.
Bernie like the socialist rhetoric and the inclusive impressions of Pope Francis. Sanders is unaware of the intolerant teachings in Islam and doesn’t want to learn anything about them, because it would make his Red-Green Axis untenable. He has never criticized the very common anti-Semitism prevalent among Muslims.
In 2014 the Anti-Defamation League published a global survey of worldwide anti-Semitic attitudes, reporting that in the Middle East, 74% of adults agreed with a majority of the survey’s eleven anti-Semitic propositions, including that “Jews have too much power in international financial markets” and that “Jews are responsible for most of the world’s wars.” Mr. Sanders would not know that.
Sanders makes alliances with people who believe that Jews are the source of cosmic evil … and that Jews consciously and knowingly worship and follow the devil.
Here is an anecdote that describes someone as naïve, charming and smug as Sanders: An agnostic astronomer and a priest were playing golf together one day. The astronomer trying to be friendly said, ‘You know my idea of religion is do unto others what you would have them do unto you.” And the priest answered, ‘Yes, and my idea of astronomy is twinkle-twinkle-little-star-how-I-wonder-what-you-are.’
Wellington says
“I see no evidence in any of Sander’s comments that he understands any theology.”
Fine post, mortimer, and I would add to theology the following: economics and history, plus a dearth of wisdom and common sense. In other words, Sanders is a disaster waiting to happen. He’s an old fool, will never learn, and possessed of the power of the Presidency would do enormous damage to America, very likely permanent damage. And anyone voting for this man is likewise, at best, a fool if not something even worse.
Infidel says
Problem is that he does mention exactly the issues that voters – at least Democrat ones – want to hear: addressing low wages, income inequality, healthcare as a right and so on. His solutions may be abominable, but no one else seems to be on the issues. While the Dems came to power in 2018 promising healthcare reform, they did a bait and switch and spent all their time and energy on impeachment. Which is why it’s small wonder that only he’s attracting the crowds: if impeachment was so popular, Tom Steyer, Eric Swalwell or one of those candidates would have been the frontrunner right now.
Also, contrary to conventional wisdom, I happen to believe that Bernie would be the most formidable candidate in November: not Biden, Bloomberg, Steyer or Warren. While his following may be less than Trump’s, they are as devout, and will stick w/ him, and from there, his numbers can only go up. Also, in 2016, it was not so much a Left vs Right election as much as an up vs down, and right now, if any of Bernie’s competitors, including Warren, won the nomination, it would still be an up vs down election. However, if it’s Bernie vs Trump, then some of the working class support that Trump got in 2016 b’cos they were turned off by Hillary, could go to Bernie.
The one big thing in Trump’s favor, though, is that he’s been able to unite the GOP w/ his results, as well as his delivering to various factions of the GOP coalition – be it strengthening the military and drawing down military intervention abroad, filling up judicial vacancies and particularly flipping the 9th circuit court, fixing the trade imbalances w/ the various trade deals, soaring employment, resurrection of manufacturing, the tax cuts, supporting both religious freedom and opposing post-birth abortion, defying the NFL and their kneeling, fixing the VA and so on. He still has work to do in fixing healthcare insurance as well as costs, fixing the infrastructure and immigration reform (which would in turn address Bernie’s issue of stagnant wages)
Unlike him, I don’t see Bernie uniting all Democrats behind him, at least not beyond the election – even if Trump derangement may drive them to vote for him in November. However, the GOP has to put together plans on addressing immigration reform, infrastructure and healthcare, and can’t fumble the ball the way they did under Paul Ryan. Hopefully, somebody there has been putting together a plan that has broad GOP Senate support, which can then also pass the House. Oh, and one more thing – pull all US troops out of everywhere that they don’t need to be – Middle East, Europe, Africa, and only have them along the Indo-Pacific rim as well as Latin America.
Wellington says
Trump has another thing in his favor: Far better ideas than does Crazy Bernie. This is, of course, dependent on a majority of American voters (or at least a majority re the Electoral College) comprehending this.
And I, like you, Infidel, think that Bad News Bernie might indeed prove the most formidable candidate against Trump PRECISELY because the “Ignorance Quotient” in America has risen, starting with the Sixties and truly accelerating in the last fifteen years or so.
Infidel says
Yeah, Wellington. The other thing I forgot to mention is that the population that remembers the Cold War, the KGB plots, the Brezhnev regime and so on is 50 and above – I am 51. But the Soviet Union hasn’t been around since 1991, so the people who hadn’t entered their 20s then would have little memory of it. Only millennials who’d remember it would be people who entered the US from still-communist countries like Cuba and Venezuela. Which is why one sees the opposition to communism coming from the likes of Rubio, Cruz and Schlapp.
Which is why when people mock the idea of ‘socialism’ being electable, I just wonder – what world are they living in? Most of the ‘socialist’ (really, communist) regimes of the world had either collapsed (like Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, Mongolia) or had a quiet internal economic revolution from communism to capitalism while remaining a one party state, like Vietnam. Cuba and North Korea remain communist, Venezuela became socialist/communist while in Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega is the only man to have been the president of a country during the presidencies of both Reagan and Trump! Of course, there is the People’s Republic of China, which is a bizarre combination of a Soviet like politburo, a Nazi like racial superiority but this time of Han Chinese, rather than Aryan, an African like slave labor market and a penchant for colonialism that would do 19th century European colonial powers proud. I don’t know that anyone would call the last one socialism.
So yeah, the only thing to look at in the Dem primaries is whether Bernie will be allowed to get the nomination, or will the DNC parachute in someone like maybe Michelle Obama to oust him (since everyone else has been tried, and Hillary’s not likely to be tried again)
TimothyS says

Infidel and Wellington:
I’d like to add that Sanders’s younger constituents were not around to remember the gasoline shortages of the 1970s, which began in October 1973 when OPEC stopped exporting crude to the USA and Western Europe, causing panic, doubling of oil prices, hour-plus long waits in one’s car to get a few gallons of rationed gas from stations that actually had some, with great economic damage being the result. This first shortage – an absolute nightmare- lasted for months, and brought both America and Europe to its knees. Shortages re-occurred intermittently until about 1979, with OPEC, and especially the Arab Gulf States, acquiring great (and, to us, very damaging) political influence; the Saudis et al. quickly learned that they could weaponize their oil to promote their Muslim supremacist agenda, and did so with impunity.
Sanders remembers all of this, surely, but has learned nothing from it, or else, more ominously, wants to keep us in thrall to foreign enemies for our energy needs, likely to restrict our freedom of movement and increase our vulnerability to surveillance, pretending that an energy revolution is quickly achievable and a key to prosperity. Trump should make haste to show old clips of how things were, energy-wise, during that horrible era, with gas lines a hundred cars long and prices skyrocketing, sometimes increasing daily. This is essential, as the ignorance of so many of our recent history is something Sanders relies upon in his quest to transform and permanently destroy our nation.
Infidel says

On the downballot issue too, I think that the conventional wisdom is wrong. If Bernie is able to get his fervent supporters to pull his lever in the polls, they’ll also vote for any other Dems downballot who’ve been endorsed by him. Also, like in Trump’s case, if he wins the nomination, the downballots will be wrapping themselves around him so that they too get every bit of the support that he gets in that particular precinct
Everything depends on Trump trouncing Bernie!

Once in power, Sanders would avoid hiring anyone with strongly religious views. He wants people who match his universalist beliefs. Sanders ASSUMES that ‘real’ religion is ‘universalist’. He doesn’t understand that practically all religions are NOT ‘universalist’, not even Hinduism.
Sanders is extremely naïve about his own presumptuousness and practically uninformed about any theology.

Wonder whether that would exclude Muslims as well? Hopefully, we never have to find out, just like we never had Leon Trotsky as the chairman of the presidium of the Supreme Soviet

I would amend this to state anyone with strong ideals, for Judaism, and its follow-on Christianity, provided the basis on which freedom has been built over the centuries. Joe Rogan had Bernie on in August 2019. I only watched five minutes but he came across as very vague and generalizing and dependent on his relaxed ‘good guy’ veneer. Rogan is a good conversationalist rather than an interviewer and his uniquely casual shows almost always go on for two or three hours, but this one was only an hour long! – probably because (as Bernie intimates) he is sooo very cool that you will be able to leave all the boring minutia of his generous plans up to him and his go-fers! if he got in it would surely be like having your very own version of Justin Trudeau! He could assign Sarsour as his replacement when he went on vacations to ponder things social and all!
In later video clips, Rogan – who surprisingly has a Leftist frame of mind – said he’d support Bernie! Here’s the title for those interested in watching Bernie perhaps with his guard down:

Sanders joyfully shares the spotlight with Tlaib and Omar because he knows nothing about the textual sources of their bigoted comments and he is doesn’t realize the two women are not making up their own personal statements but quoting various authentic Islamic authorities who are accredited to speak for Islam.
For Marxist Sanders, theology is so much insignificant twaddle to be casually and quickly brushed aside. Sanders cavalierly assumes that anyone who disagrees with his own universalism is a misguided bigot who misrepresents religion.
When it comes to religion, Sanders couldn’t care less about the doctrines and doesn’t want to learn anything. He’s happy with his own uninformed views.

As Ben Shapiro pointed out, this is what busts Bernie’s Jewish credentials, when he invokes the holocaust and the time he spent in Israel. Also, even aside from his support of these jihadist activists Sarsour, Omar and Tlaib, he even displayed his callousness towards Jewish causes during the Cold War. During that time, the refusal of the Soviets to let their Jews immigrate to Israel to escape persecution for their beliefs was a major issue, and Bernie seemed squarely on the Soviet side on this

By the it should also be noted that Bernie Sanders along with his friends , Ilan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Linda Sarsour are indeed a fitting group. For all of the together ,truly do, deserve each other.

Bernie Sander has shown his true colors by the associates and friends he has . Sander’s colors are both Red and Green. As in he is part of what is known and called “The Red/Green Alliance.”

As for the Islamic part which is also the anti-Jewish , anti- Israel Muslim half of this alliance , all of them together Sanders, Ilan Omar ,Rashia Tlaib Linda Sarsour are therefore very unAmerican.
As so well explained by the former US President, William Howard Taft, when in a speech he declared
“Antisemitism is a noxious weed that should be cut out. It has no place in America.”

In the Democrat party, that no longer exists. There were decent candidates earlier on in the primaries like John Delaney, but they’ve dropped out. Every remaining candidate is in favor of open borders, giving free healthcare to illegals and so on.
Tucker covered this tonight, and dealt w/ Bernie’s stance on immigration. For Bernie to achieve what he wants – increased wages, medicare for all, he can only afford it if it’s made available to a small group – only US citizens. Libertarians, by contrast, support legal open borders, but want everybody to swim or sink on their own once they’re here. Either one of those plans are affordable, as the former only tries to service 300 million citizens, while the latter automatically trims immigration by self selection: those who don’t think that they can make it in the US simply don’t come.
But the current platform of all Dems – including Bernie – involves having open borders AND giving out free stuff, which then theoretically means that all of the world’s 7.5 billion people are then entitled to come to the US and get everything for free.
At that point, one might as well abolish the concept of money while one is at it!

This nation-destroying insanity is happening in Canada with the communist-loving Islam-sympathizing, UN-brown-nosing, climate-change shouting, black-face-wearing, Trudeau in power. In Canada, 2 provinces determine the political outcome and Trudeau has ensured that Quebec and Ontario are saturated with “diversity”, …the “diversity” that is the “strength” of the leftist progressive voting bloc. “Diversity is our strength” is the battle cry of the “open borders” UN globalists whose goal is to destroy the free world. This is war on freedom, and one of the answers I see is mandatory conscription, like in Switzerland and Israel. Mandatory.
