“This type of music is based on promiscuous and immoral lyrics, which is completely prohibited, and as such the door is closed on it.”
There may be more to this as well. Whenever I note that Islamic law forbids music (aside from nasheeds, a cappella songs encouraging jihad), I am excoriated as a greasy Islamophobe, but it’s nonetheless true:
Hadith Qudsi 19:5: “The Prophet said that Allah commanded him to destroy all the musical instruments, idols, crosses and all the trappings of ignorance.” (The Hadith Qudsi, or holy Hadith, are those in which Muhammad transmits the words of Allah, although those words are not in the Qur’an.)
Muhammad also said:
(1) “Allah Mighty and Majestic sent me as a guidance and mercy to believers and commanded me to do away with musical instruments, flutes, strings, crucifixes, and the affair of the pre-Islamic period of ignorance.”
(2) “On the Day of Resurrection, Allah will pour molten lead into the ears of whoever sits listening to a songstress.”
(3) “Song makes hypocrisy grow in the heart as water does herbage.”
(4) “This community will experience the swallowing up of some people by the earth, metamorphosis of some into animals, and being rained upon with stones.” Someone asked, “When will this be, O Messenger of Allah?” and he said, “When songstresses and musical instruments appear and wine is held to be lawful.”
(5) “There will be peoples of my Community who will hold fornication, silk, wine, and musical instruments to be lawful ….” — Reliance of the Traveller r40.0
“Mahraganat music ‘more dangerous than coronavirus’, says Egypt parliament spokesman,” Middle East Monitor, February 18, 2020:
The Egyptian Music Syndicate has banned musicians performing the popular music genre Mahraganat, Arabic for festival.
Born out of Egypt’s slums, it was the first genre of music to deal with issues affecting poor Egyptians with tracks like “the people want five pounds of phone credit” going viral.
Mahraganat, which was formed in the early 2000s when wedding DJs combined chaabi folk music and electronic dance music with reggaeton, grime and rap, long preceded the revolution, but after 2011 the artists received greater exposure.
On Valentine’s Day Mahraganat artists Hassan Shakoosh and Omar Kamal performed the popular Bent El-Giran (the girl next door) at Cairo Stadium, whose lyrics “I drink alcohol and smoke hashish” stoked the anger of authorities.
Following the performance the syndicate has instructed clubs, hotels and music venues not to host Mahraganat singers.
Hany Shaker, who is the head of the syndicate, warned “legal measures will be taken against anyone who violates this decision.”
“It is time for the state to give attention to the real arts, and support and back the things that deserve to represent the culture of Egypt. The state is backing the ban.”
Shaker added that the lyrics promote violence, drugs and alcohol.
In an interview with pro-regime TV presenter Amr Adeeb Shaker said: “This type of music is based on promiscuous and immoral lyrics, which is completely prohibited, and as such the door is closed on it.”
He added that Mahraganat performers are responsible for “moral decline.”
Spokesman for the Egyptian parliament has said that Mahraganat is more dangerous to Egypt than coronavirus….

Mahraganat is less dangerous that islam with its Koranovirus.
islam is a religion that is ok with polygamy, child brides, mutah”marriages”{which is islamically sanctioned prostitution} bacha boy pederasty, easy talaq divorce, murdering innocent non-muslims because they are non-muslims,raping and molesting women etc
The sheer hypocrisy of the fraudulently pious ‘holy’ men of islam!
You cannot stop young people listening to music they want to listen to.
What type of songs do they want from the Girl next door{Bent El Giran}?
islamically sanctioned songs like…?

Good question. If only the PC fools welcoming Muslims to the West knew what they were inviting. If only they were open to evidence and logic on this issue. But political correctness seems to be totally incurable for many on the Regressive Left.

If the music ban in Islam was routinely enforced we would have even more violence. It’s a wonder there aren’t more Jihadis given the way Islam strips people of their humanity. However, a life without music may be rewarded with bit of singing from the sex androids in Paradise:
From Islamweb.net:
Question
Assalamu-Aleykoom, I know that music is forbidden, but just as there is wine in heaven that is obviously superior to anything on earth, is there music in heaven?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.
We have not come across an Islamic text proving the existence of music in Paradise. However, some Ahadeeth stated that the women of the people of Paradise sing to their husbands with nice singing voices.
For instance, Ibn ‘Umar may Allaah be pleased with him narrated that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “The wives of the people of Paradise will sing for their husbands in the sweetest voices that anyone has ever heard; among the things that they will sing is: We are the good and beautiful wives of noble people; we look at them (husbands) with delight in our eyes (i.e., with satisfaction).’ Another song will be, ‘We are eternal women who will never die; we are safe and will never feel fear; we are settled and will never leave (our husbands).” [At-Tabaraani, and Al-Albaani classified it as authentic]
Ibn Al-Qayyim may Allaah have mercy upon him wrote a chapter in his book entitled Haadi Al-Arwaah ila Bilaad Al-Afraah about this subject. He wrote: Chapter Fifty Seven: The Sounds of Paradise and the Singing of the Hoor (women of Paradise) and the melodiousness and enjoyment that it involves… He mentioned a number of Ahadeeth about the singing of the Hoor and their beautiful voice.
Allah knows best.

Egypt: Popular music genre Mahraganat “more dangerous than coronavirus,” says parliament spokesman
…………………………….
Pious Muslims *hate* music.
For those who want to learn more about Mahraganat, this gives a good sense:

Now, most of this stuff is pretty derivative of European and American music, and some of it is fairly stupid. But much of it also fun and has as good dance beat–can’t have *that* in Islam. I wish these musicians well–but that is always a dicey prospect in Dar-al-Islam.
Westman says
“Spokesman for the Egyptian parliament has said that Mahraganat is more dangerous to Egypt than coronavirus….”
Typical authoritarian thinking that the effect is the cause. Even Islam cannot delude all the youth when the world is at their fingertips. Just as in Iran, the smooth covering of Islam’s facade is cracking and revealing the corruption behind the veneer. The youth see that Islam’s fruits are being compared to those of the entire world and found lacking. Mahraganat is only a manifestation of Islam’s failure to provide its youth with a future equal to the opportunities in the West.
Hang on to your rag-hats, Imams, the winds moving away from you are just beginning.

Unfortunately, Westman, I would not assume that the popularity of this music necessarily means that all of these kids are leaving Islam. I wish it did. This is from a few years ago, but I don’t think that much has changed:
