France: Justice minister accuses teen girl who insulted Islam of violating nonexistent law, “freedom of conscience”

Feb 2, 2020 3:00 pm By Robert Spencer

“The French justice minister, Nicole Belloubet, has also been criticised after she failed to come to the teenager’s defence, and instead accused her of breaching a legal concept that does not exist, ‘freedom of conscience’. When she was told that none exists in French Law, Ms Belloubet apologised for her words and professed they had been a ‘mistake.'”

Sure. But such mistakes only ever go in one direction. The Left hates the freedom of speech and is working relentlessly to destroy it. When there are incidents such as this one, Leftist leaders can’t help but allow their masks to slip.

“France’s left-wing elite are accused of cowardice for failing to support 16-year-old girl facing death threats after she insulted Islam online,” by Luke Andrews, Mailonline, February 1, 2020:

France’s left-wing elite have been accused of cowardice for failing to support a 16-year-old girl who has faced death threats after she insulted Islam online.

The girl, known as Mila, said Islam ‘is a s*** religion’ and the Koran is ‘full of hate’ in an outburst online after she repeatedly rebuffed a Muslim’s advances….

Her angry video also came after she was told she had ‘insulted our God Allah, the one and only’ and that it was hoped she would ‘burn in hell’.

The Director of the French Council of Muslims, Abdallah Zekri, alleged Mila had ‘reaped what she had sown’ earlier this week, but was forced into an embarrassing retraction following public outcry.

The French justice minister, Nicole Belloubet, has also been criticised after she failed to come to the teenager’s defence, and instead accused her of breaching a legal concept that does not exist, ‘freedom of conscience’.

When she was told that none exists in French Law, Ms Belloubet apologised for her words and professed they had been a ‘mistake’….

Agree with LavĂ©ritĂ©triomphera. Most French people are aware of what’s going on, but the country is under a regime of political correctness and information control that is oppressive. French intellectuals have the ability to take down Islamic supremacism, but the Red-Green Axis is running the country and will try to silence them. Political correctness is going to run its course in France as well. People are fed up with it.

Votre français est littĂ©raire et bon. J’ai rĂ©pondu Ă  votre question : « *Surely* you don’t think that the Justice Minster is right in insulting this girl and trying to crush her freedom of speech? ».

I hope you don’t mind my switching to English–my French is pretty clunky, and most here read and write in English. (Also, my translating anything is pretty slow and painstaking. I’m sure your English is far better than my French).

You wrote (in translation): “France is a nation that prides itself on being the homeland of human rights!”

This is true, and for good reason. But this is exactly why the Justice Minister’s actions here are so appalling.

And I’m not sure why you consider Americans being upset by this to be a sign of “dismal gullibility”–I would be just as disgusted if this was being said by someone in American or British authority, or anywhere else in the West. You know my posting history–I do *not* just criticize dhimmitude in France, but anywhere I find it.

As for Mr Cohen, I don’t see where he commented on this thread, nor where I replied to him–unless I missed it? Or was this on some other story? Do you have links? I don’t recall him saying anything critical about France off the top of my head.

And as you know, I have *never* referred to the French as “cheese eating and surrender monkeys”. You know that I have a great deal of respect for France–this is why I find stories like this one so painful.

I certainly agree with you about the egregious Nicole Belloubet, though.

I want to see all of the civilized West survive and thrive and reject pandering to Islam–France more than most.

          ï»żBonjour,
I have esteem for England and USA and I am a visitor on Jihad Watch. Unless exception, I write in English in an anglophone site.
French are latins and it seems there are a few of us who have difficulties to accept they are sons of Rome like the Spanish and Italians. However, we must make up our minds that we are not a member of the Anglo-Saxon (Germanic) club.
Now back to your question : we do not like when we are called “Cheese eating surrender monkeys – Singes capitulards, bouffeurs de fromages”, which implies we were “always” obliged to flee ennemis during wars, especially the Germans during WW2. At that time many thought they have been betrayed (not for the first time) by their own government!
I would also like to add that Ignorance leads to naivety, so some Americans should test their knowledge and read an history book please.
M.cohen lied or rather he adjusts what really happened or happens, and you thanked him for the links!
Since the revolution Jews have the same rights as all French citizens. Vichy government was an exception and antisemitism is anti-constitutional in France.
That said, we are no longer living in an absolutist monarchy, and our government is accountable – or so, at least I hope – to French people. Therefore I do not think that in a healthy democracy it is the task of politicians to dictate to people what they should think.
Mila is a French citizen and she has the right to criticize religions and Islam. She stands by her words (she said), she only regretted her vulgar language.
Peace upon you, your family, America.

Nicole Belloubet is confused … she tried to apply ‘freedom of conscience’ in order to STOP a French citizen from EXRESSING her own freedom of conscience.

How does a Muslim’s ‘freedom of conscience’ OVER-RIDE the freedom of expression?

        @ eduardo

Excellent point. The “justice minister’s” fake French law, “freedom of conscience,” apparently doesn’t include the “freedom” to criticize Islam. I also seriously doubt the “justice minister” would give a rat’s ass if a French teenager called Christianity or Judaism a “shit religion” on social media.

This is also exactly the kind of cowering dhimmitude from western authorities that reinforces the disgustingly thuggish behavior (directed at a 16 year old girl!) at issue here.

It’s positively obscene that this woman is a “justice minister.”

Is there no “freedom of conscience” in France? If there is a way to make a law against it, supporters of moslim violence and evil, rape and foul deeds, threats of death and other acts of hatred, will see to it that there will be a law against it soon.

So what happened ‘Liberty and Equality’? I think we can assume that ‘fraternity’ went out of the window when the muslims appeared on the scene unless it’s just between the muslims themselves, assuming they’re the right kind of muslims. Furthermore, saying that islam is a ‘sh☆t religion’ may not be completely accurate in that it’s not strictly a ‘religion’, but the reference to excrement is certainly a reasonable assessment. And saying that the Qur’an is ‘full of hate’ is simply a factual statement. It’s actually quite difficult to insult islam since any honest assessment from a civilised stsndpoint is bound to be negative.

  13. Lydia Church says

    What?!?!
The teen was following her freedom of conscience by insulting islam!
The justice minister broke the law of freedom of conscience by not supporting the teenage girl!
Everything backwards, but what else is new???

Of course she is afraid to come to her aid, and of course everyone is afraid to stand up for what is right, because of the new tyranny. Not that that is any excuse! Because it’s not. But it’s just very reminiscent of what happened under hitler. Oh, I’m sure most of the masses knew it was wrong. But they were afraid. They were afraid to lose their livelihoods and their lives for speaking out. So they somehow convinced themselves and seared their own consciences and just did not say anything as millions, Jews and non Jews, were lead to their deaths. “Just go along to get along” was the motto of the day. Well folks, THAT is how these ugly little genocide things can happen. No one is willing to be self sacrificial enough to stand up and say that something is just plain WRONG! They are all cowards. They have ‘too much to lose.’ They chose self over saving innocent lives of others. Welcome to the sin nature of humanity.

Recently I read another discourse on the events of the ‘me too’ movement. How all these women were ‘pressured in’ to lewd sex acts with certain men for certain goals. But the choice was theirs. Yes, it was exploitation and wrong. But they could have said no. Made the sacrifice. So that is the same thing as ‘quid pro quo’. “This for that,” call it what you want, but it’s still a bribe. They didn’t HAVE to get a job as an actress! You don’t HAVE TO do anything! It’s a question of what are you willing to do, and for what? Or to lose, give up, and for what or Who? How much will you compromise for fame and fortune? What’s your price? Give them sex, and get an actress job in the limelight, or some other promotion that leads to more money, power, fame, etc. It’s usually for one of those on the three headed beast. Fortune, fame, power. Greed, ego, control by my will. And lust of the flesh in any number of other ways. It’s more subtle many times. Shut up and be silent in the face of evil, and in return we will give you your life, or your job, or your reputation, or some other exchange. Like a harlot, they sell their virtues and principles for money or some other worldly gain. A bribe by any other name, is still the same.

She has been heavily criticized and I believe our government is no longer credible in the eyes of the population. The social situation was critical by the end of the year. I hope it does not get any worse this year.

Exactly. The alleged “Justice Minister” cites a non-existent law. WTF!

“She is as a Minister of Finance who does not know how to count!” I heard.

          @ LavĂ©ritĂ©triomphera 😁😁😁

I read your comment above to the effect that the government has lost credibility with the French people. Do you think this means that the French people will elect a government that will put a stop to this madness?

This so-called “Justice Minister” is the psycho pervert! I reckon she must have at least a degree in Law & apart from that, some Common Sense! What idiots we have at the top if they are in persecuting a 16year old girl. I would like the Justice Minister to explain about, at least, the 780 “NO GO” areas Muslims have set up throughout France. any non-Muslim going into one would be made to “disappear”. Why doesn’t she take a walk into 1 or 2 of them? Perhaps it would only take the 1 & she would disappear, permanently!

There is no conscience, free or otherwise, in Islam. I salute Mila again for telling the truth to her foolish elders. If and when this justice minister is removed from office I shall try to think a kind thought about her. Till then Im with jca reid, above.

France: Justice minister accuses teen girl who insulted Islam of violating nonexistent law, “freedom of conscience”
    ……………………..

How is her not wanting to be raped and threatened violating anyone’s freedom of conscience–unless this dhimmi tool believes that Muslims have the right to threaten Infidels without their so much as talking back? In other words, is France’s Justice Minister enforcing Shari’ah law?

    @Norger,

I can’t answer your question but she is Minister of Justice and keeper of the the seals, social tensions are serious in the country and she makes a big mistake on the air given we are very sensitive on blasphemy law, of sinister memory https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/François-Jean_de_la_Barre.
