Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

France: Teen hunted for criticizing Islam moves to new school “to allow her to continue her life”

Feb 11, 2020 4:00 pm By Christine Douglass-Williams

“A French teenager who criticised Islam on Instagram has moved to a new school after receiving death threats. Education minister Gabriel Attal told broadcaster LCI on Monday that they had found a new school for Mila ‘to allow her to continue her life.'”

Jihad Watch has been covering the story of a teen girl whose life took a Kafkaesque turn because she criticized Islam on social media, which got her death threats and the publication of her personal address and school’s address. Since mid-January, Mila has been in hiding on the advice of police, and under police protection. Her freedom has been destroyed under the virtual Sharia that prevails in France, supported by its President: “in October, French President Emmanuel Macron warned against ‘stigmatising’ Muslims or linking Islam with the fight against terrorism.” But young Mila remains unrepentant, as she should. She did nothing wrong.

The controversy began on 18 January, after Mila did a live broadcast on her Instagram account. After speaking about her sexuality she was called a “dirty lesbian” by a Muslim commenter. In response, Mila posted an attack on Islam. “I hate religion. The Koran is a religion of hate,” she said, before using stronger words to attack Islam. “I am not racist. You cannot be racist towards a religion. I said what I thought, you’re not going to make me regret it.” Some responded with death threats, and began posting her personal information online – including where she went to school.

The fallout from Mila’s words only supported her points. Socialist leader Segolene Royal appeared to defend Mila’s freedom of speech, but added that “she should have shown more ‘respect, manners and knowledge’ and should not be made into ‘a paragon of freedom of expression.’” Royal is clearly duplicitous in her pretense of defending Mila’s rights when she actually supports restrictions on free speech. Who arbitrates what she deemed to be speech that reflects “respect, manners and knowledge”.

Mila’s case has profound significance for the rights and freedoms of citizens in what are supposed to be free societies. Segolene Royal’s scolding of Mila is reminiscent of an October 2018 European Court of Human Rights ruling that indicated just how much those rights have been lost and how far Sharia has advanced in Europe. The ruling was against Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff (ESW), who was convicted and fined for statements accusing Muhammad of pedophilia. The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) determined that the criminalizing of ESW’s statements “did not breach her right to free speech because applicant’s statements had been likely to arouse justified indignation in Muslims and amounted to a generalization without factual basis.” Therefore, the court  determined that ESW’s comments “could not be covered by the freedom of expression.”

Disturbingly, there was no widespread outcry. What made the ECtHR particularly unnerving is that a segment of Muslims do become hostile, threatening and violent when Islam is criticized, in keeping with Islam’s death penalty for blasphemy. So the ECtHR in essence gave permission to Muslims to act barbarically on impulse if their religion is criticized, and to continue attacking Westerners who offend them — Pakistan style. Robert Spencer provided important justification for ESW’s statements HERE.

In Western countries, Christians have often been the object of mockery, including works of “art” that mock Christ, but such offensive material has never resulted in calls to restrict the freedom of speech. Some examples:

  • Christ featured as an icon submerged in an artist’s urine, dubbed “Piss Christ”
  •  “A Fire in My Belly, an exploration of the social response to the AIDS crisis, which contains an image of ants crawling over the bloodied statuette of a crucified Christ.”
  • The Last Supper “with Christ in a woman’s dress and high heels, and cross-dressing Apostles…”

Everyone knows what the consequences would be if Muhammad instead of Christ were depicted in such a manner. The message is clear in many parts of the EU: you are free to offend Christianity, or any religion for that matter, and threaten Jews and Zionists in pro-Palestinian rallies, all with no consequences, but lay off Islam.

Mila’s case has drawn widespread media attention, and by now, arrests should have been made in the her case.

Marine Le Pen rightly stated in a tweet: “This young girl is braver than the whole political class in power over the past 30 years.”

“Mila: Teen who criticised Islam on Instagram moves school,” BBC News, February 10, 2020:

A French teenager who criticised Islam on Instagram has moved to a new school after receiving death threats.

Education minister Gabriel Attal told broadcaster LCI on Monday that they had found a new school for Mila “to allow her to continue her life”.

Mila, 16, sparked a national row over free speech when she called Islam a “religion of hate”.

The teen’s criticisms prompted fury but also drew support in France, where there are no laws against blasphemy.

Her comments about Islam came after she received homophobic abuse from a Muslim commenter. Supporters started the hashtag #JeSuisMila (I am Mila), while critics responded with #JeNeSuisPasMila.

She did not return to school after making the remarks. But on Monday Mr Attal said they had found her a “solution” and would be moving to another school which is not been made public to protect her safety.

France has a strictly secular constitution, but also a large Muslim population. There have been frequent clashes over policy in recent years, such as a government ban on full-face veils in public.

In October, French President Emmanuel Macron warned against “stigmatising” Muslims or linking Islam with the fight against terrorism.

How the row developed
The controversy began on 18 January, after Mila did a live broadcast on her Instagram account. After speaking about her sexuality she was called a “dirty lesbian” by a Muslim commenter.

In response, Mila posted an attack on Islam. “I hate religion. The Koran is a religion of hate,” she said, before using stronger words to attack Islam.

“I am not racist. You cannot be racist towards a religion. I said what I thought, you’re not going to make me regret it.”

Some responded with death threats, and began posting her personal information online – including where she went to school…..

MIla will unfortunately only be safe if she moves a few times, changes her name two or three times and then changes her appearance. The fanatics will try to find her.

Marine Le Pen is right: Mila is much braver than the craven, surrenderist elites who give in every time Muslims riot and further erode the freedom of expression.

      Agree, Mortimer.

She needs to be put into something like we have in the United States – a witness protection program and a brand-new identity…

BTW, Mila was literally right about Islam being a religion of hate. Leading Muslim authorities have confirmed it hundreds of times.

    Examples of ‘hatred’ in Islam:

Koran 60:4 “We have REJECTED you, and there has arisen between us and you ENMITY and HATRED, until you believe and worship Allaah alone.”
Koran 40:35 “They who dispute the signs (verses) of Allah without authority having reached them are GREATLY HATED by Allah and the believers.” (Note: not just “hated”, but “greatly HATED”.)
Koran 28:86 “Do not support the kafireen in any way.”
Koran 48:29: “Muhammad is God’s apostle. Those who follow him are VIOLENT to the unbelievers, but compassionate to one another.”
Koran 4: 101 “The kuffar are for you a CLEAR ENEMY.”
Koran 8:60 “TERRORIZE the ENEMY of Allah and your ENEMY”
Koran 3: 118 “O you who believe! DO NOT take into your intimacy those outside your ranks. They will not fail to corrupt you.”

    Leading Muslim commentators:

“The honor of Islam lies in INSULTING kufr and kafirs. One who respects kafirs, dishonors the Muslims. To respect them does not merely mean honouring them and assigning them a seat of honor in any assembly, but it also implies keeping company with them or showing considerations to them. They should be KEPT AT ARM’S LENGTH LIKE DOGS. … If some worldly business cannot be performed without them, in that case only a minimum of contact should be established with them but without taking them into confidence. The highest Islamic sentiment describes that it is better to FOREGO that worldly business and that NO RELATIONSHIP should be established with the KAFIRS.” – Sheikh Aḥmad Sirhindī (d. 1624), Islamic scholar, Hanafi jurist, and member of the Naqshbandī Sufi order

-Imam Abdul-Latif ibn Abdur-Rahman Rahimullah said, “It is not possible for someone to realize Tawheed (Islamic faith) and act upon it, and yet not be HOSTILE against the mushrikeen (i.e. wrong worshippers). So anyone who isn’t HOSTILE against the mushrikeen, then it cannot be said that he acts upon Tawheed nor that he realizes it.” [ad-Durar as-Saniyyah 8/167]

    – from ibn Taymiyya, “Book of Emaan”: “… true believers show ANIMOSITY and HATRED towards disbelievers and NEVER support them.”

Agree with Templer’s point: people tend to imitate their deity. The deity of Islam ‘does not love the kafir'(K.3.31-32), but hates them and decrees that Muslims should hate them too: Koran 40:35 “They who dispute the signs (verses) of Allah without authority having reached them are greatly hated by Allah and the believers.”

Muslims can only integrate if they realize that the Koran is a manmade fabrication.

Will Mila be safe in this new school? With her face and name plastered all over the news, I would not count on it. I pray she stays safe.

Without an officially defined state religion in France, it is not the responsibility of judges to intervene in religious disputes of blasphemy.

There 4,200 different religions. Islam doesn’t have a valid argument for a special right for Muslims NOT TO HEAR something they dislike. France is a secular state and thus, no blasphemy law could be drafted in France. That would remove the principle of ‘LAICITÉ’. Muslims have no right NOT TO HEAR or NOT TO READ statements that displease them. Islam is not France’s established state religion and so Islam has no superiority over other religions which are freely criticized in France. France has a strong tradition of anti-clericalism by which the Roman Catholic church has been a favorite target for French secularists. Why would Islam have rights in France that the RCC does not even have?

The great jurist Robert H. Jackson said, “The price of freedom of religion, or of speech, or of the press, is that we must put up with a good deal of rubbish.” – Justice Robert H. Jackson, prosecutor at the Nuremburg Trials

      – Justice Clark in 1952 wrote: “…it is enough to point out that the state has no legitimate interest in protecting any or all religions from views distasteful to them. … It is not the business of government in our nation to suppress real or imagined attacks upon a particular religious doctrine.”

-Justice Frankfurter noted that beliefs that are “…dear to one may seem the rankest ‘sacrilege’ to another,” and added concerning “sacrilegious” speech: “…history does not encourage reliance on the wisdom and moderation of the censor.”

U.S. law values and permits the right to blaspheme because THERE IS NO ESTABLISHED ‘American religion’, and thus, no American blasphemy law can be drafted. The American court is not required to defend religions from criticism … there are 4,200 different religion … thus, blasphemy laws would have to be contradictory. What is ‘sacred’ to one religion may be highly ‘blasphemous’ to another. A contradictory law cannot be enforced.

If the principle of equality were applied to the 4,200 religions, then jurists would have their hands full with unending blasphemy cases, since religions contradict each other in hundreds and thousands of ways. It would be near impossible for preachers to make a bold statement about religion, since blasphemy lawsuits could be started for any religious disagreement.

The reason you can feel free to disparage, insult, denigrate and openly speak vitriol about certain faiths and the adherents versus one we dare not name that cannot even be confronted with factual evidence, is one group is associated with cars that go ka boom, beheadings, immolation, acid attacks, various types of physical assaults, and even lawsuits for speaking the truth.

I know that is a long run on sentence. Sorry about that.

Response to JV: “I will cut the tongue and eyes of those who want to amend the blasphemy law.” – Amir Mushtaq Khan, Jamaat-e-Islami Leader, Pakistan

In an article in New York Magazine, Jonathan Chait declared that the … “right to blaspheme religion is one of the most elemental exercises of political liberalism. One cannot defend the right without defending the practice.”
