Islamic jihadis in Muslim countries hate tourists, who are often visiting sites of jahiliyya, the pre-Islamic society of unbelievers. And if they’re visiting Muslim sites, they’re trampling them down under their Infidel feet. Either way, they’re not welcome.
“Three foreign tourists are stabbed by ISIS-affiliated Islamic extremists in Maldives terror attack,” by Ryan Fahey, Mailonline, February 6, 2020:
Maldives police have arrested three suspected Islamic extremists over the stabbing of three foreigners in the upmarket tourist destination.
Two Chinese men and an Australian were in a stable condition after being stabbed Tuesday, just two months after security officials warned of the presence of violent radicals inspired by ISIS.
Authorities said they were investigating a video released on social media claiming the attack had been carried out by a local group sympathetic to the terror group.
‘The Maldives police service has arrested three suspects under a court warrant in relation to the stabbing of three foreign nationals,’ police said in a statement….
Maldives parliamentary Speaker Mohamed Nasheed has said that the Maldives was keeping a close watch on any attempt to radicalise its population, which practises a liberal form of Islam and relies heavily on luxury tourism….
On Thursday, Maldives police arrested three men and were probing their suspected links with Islamic State, officials said.
A Maldivian radical group linked to the Islamic State took responsibility for the attack in a video posted online, on Wednesday.
One masked man, speaking in the local language Dhivehi, accused the Maldivian government of being run by infidels and warned of further attacks in the clip.
‘As for what will follow (of attacks), you fail to perceive where and when it will take place’, he said in the video.
He also accused Maldivian politicians of stealing the wives and children of extremists and said the attacks were revenge for this.
Police said they were working to confirm the veracity of the video….
The archipelago in the Indian Ocean derives much of its income from tourism….
The Maldives parliament has given sweeping investigative powers to counter-terrorism agencies, and authorities have stepped up operations against hardline Islamist groups….
The 2008 constitution states that the republic ‘is based on the principles of Islam’ and that ‘no law contrary to any principle of Islam can be applied’.
Non-Muslims are prohibited from becoming citizens and the public practice of a faith other than Islam is forbidden.

The Maldives…
…I must remember to…
…NEVER, EVER GO THERE!

I had a very enjoyable diving holiday there some years ago. Beautiful place. However it like most Islamic states has got more extreme since. I do not think I would visit again as I do not wish to support extreme Islam

I was on the Maldives the first time in 1986: no sign of islam other than a few terror clubs on Male. When I landed in the Maldives – on my way to Sri Lanka – a few years ago, the airport was teeming with shaved upper lips and two fist-long beards. Anyone who goes there supports islam.
Peter35 says
Maldives; 100% islamic anyway so why would any sane person wish to go there? Just look at a pic. of Male while you listen to climate ‘nutters’ say the oceans are rising; every square inch is built up and the tiny atoll is very obviously sinking beneath the weight.
Great place to stay away from! But just watch the leftist idiots flock there for holidays, because hey, “people are the same everywhere, and basically decent…..” Just as two totally guileless girls from Norway and Denmark found out while visiting Morocco, remember?
Goofy says
How can the police in the Maldives arrest devout Muslims who are just following the commands of their prophet Muhammad to honour Allah?
It appears to be an illegal use of the police force, and it will probably not happen again.
In the meantime it will be wise to put a tourist embargo on the Maldives which is heavily dependent on tourism.
Savvy Kafir says
Infidels should definitely avoid the Maldives. Spend your money in non-Muslim nations.

Maldives? Didn’t that country go underwater three years ago because of rising sea levels?

Hugh Fitzgerald says
What does it take for non-Muslims to understand they should never travel as tourists to Musiim-majority lands. There is the obvious physical danger. And there is the quite unnecessary economic support that is being provided to these countries — support they do not deserve and should not have.
tim gallagher says
I couldn’t agree more, Hugh. I decided ages ago never to go to any Muslim country as a tourist. Apart from having zero interest in them, since nothing about barbaric Islam interests me, I don’t want to give them any of my money because it would only help Islam to prosper. As you say, Muslim countries don’t deserve to be supported in any way.
Rufolino says
If one includes in your comments all those countries that are “becoming” Moslem, then people should avoid the whole of Western Europe as a holiday destination, in not deserving to be “supported”.
Peter35 says
As the Chinese and Japanese governments advised their travel agents and tour operators: “Send our tourists instead to North and South America, Australasia and Russia.” (last year)
James Lincoln says
Hugh Fitzgerald,
You are correct.
The only times that I have traveled to muslim majority countries was while on active duty Navy orders.
Anyone would have to be CRAZY to travel there voluntarily.

“Welcome to the Maldives, where sands are white as the smiles of the locals, where fish swim happily in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, where the weather is a dream, and the deep rays of the sun wait to engulf you in their arms.”
That is from the site visitMaldives.com. Notice that the only human referred to is “you”. Nothing about the welcoming smiles of the local Jihadis. Another avoidable tragedy stifled by fear of death threats and the more immediate fear of social shunning. This silence people may leave people naive about the threat they face in places like the Maldives. These 3 victims are described in this article as belonging to an “upmarket” class of tourists which, if true, would make them even more of a target. On a side note, I wonder how many tourist economies were wiped out by Jihadis, leaving behind a lot of grief and parents without jobs or legs?

yes advertisements appear in newspapers showing the exotic location including the over water bungalows.
Tahiti is better if you want that sort of holiday location.People are genuinely welcoming.

As a rule I vacation in places where I can relax and have some fun. I believe that is the entire function of a vacation. Sounds like those three need a better travel agent.

Maldives: Muslims stab three foreign tourists at upmarket tourist destination
………………………
I feel for the victims, but why do foolish Infidels keep going there?
Gosia says
I am a traveler and I didn’t know they are a Muslim country. The only picture that I have in my mind is sun, white sand leveled with the ocean and scuba diving. If anything I would have thought Hinduism but even more likely “Tourism”. Basically not carrying about religion just surviving thanks to tourism.
gravenimage says
This does not surprise me, Gosia. I doubt that many know that the Maldives are Muslim.
WPM says
They went there because they believe the western liberal media , elected liberal officials, the education system they were educated under, many church leaders(Pope Frankie the west is the source of most evil past and present ,global warming more a danger then Islam to the human race) that Islam is a religion of peace . Violent Jihad is the exception to the rule in Islam in the minds of most leaders in the western world today. That all people in the world “share ” common values ,that all cultures are equal and the same. A “upmarket tourist destination area” , they were stab on the spot, if they were in a “lower scale tourist destination area” the three would have been kidnapped torture over a couple of days filmed being behead on the internet I guess.
Gfmucci says
Maldives government practice a “liberal” form of Islam? Or is it an “apostate” form of Islam? Muslims can never be Islamic enough. And I could never stay away from Maldives enough.

SKA says
The problem that Muslim governments have in seeking Western tourists is that they have to allow consumption of alcohol, illicit sexual relations, immodest dress by these tourists which are not allowed by Shari’ah.

It’s more than that, SKA–just allowing Infidels to set foot in Muslim-majority lands is Haram. This would be true if they were all nuns.
Dawne Swift says
I would not now holiday in or visit a Muslim country, and I don’t understand people who still do. Over 10 years ago we holidayed at a beach resort in Turkey and while it was very “westernised” we felt out of place and that underneath the smiles and pleasantries there was a simmering resentment towards westerners. This was evidenced by a few encounters we had (and we were on a mainstream TUI Holiday, not going our own way off the beaten track). Turkey is a very beautiful country, but the Islamic religion is like a cancer, toxic to everything it touches.
Dawne Swift says
And looking at the comments above I can assure you that the resentment/atmosphere we felt was in no way related to us or other guests at the hotel/resort being “disrespectful” or wearing inappropriate clothing. The hotel/resort catered for guests aged 45+ from England, Holland and Germany – all quiet, respectful people intent on covering up middle aged spread rather than going topless outside the mosque!
gravenimage says
Thank you for that account, Dawne. It does not surprise.
